BARBIE FORTEZA Shows Range in Funny Barkada Film "SAVING CHERRY"

It's been a while since I've had a laugh with a Filipino film, but SAVING CHERRY did it. This stars Barbie Forteza, Khalil Ramos, Mikee Quintos, Mika Salamanca, AC Bonifacio, Sassa Gurl, Kokoy de Santos, Joey Marquez, JC Alcantara, Monina Lawrence, Almira Mulach, and Than Perez. 

Barbie plays the role of Cherry who's getting married to Jude (played by Khalil) but finds out he wasn't the man of her dreams after all on day 1. Mikee, Mika, AC and Sassa are friends who went to rescue her as she gets into a wild state, taking her own sweet revenge after saving herself YEARS for marriage.

Barbie is an actress, she does impeccable comedic timing for every scene she's involved in and gives a place to start a conversation where each one of her friends could come in. You can't help but be surprised on how she becomes a chameleon, showing experience, range, that she probably can do any other character there is in cinema. Cherry is one tough, bold and strong woman, and Barbie gives so much life to her in this film.  

My personal favorite part is the scene on the stairwell. Mikee represents the life of a married woman and all the intricacies of issues she faces. Watch out for the little language she injects on the scenes and why you'll never see a washing machine the same way again. AC on the other hand does a fun religious character, which makes this a crazy mix of personalities. Mika's character is the most liberated one, taking Cherry on a wild goose chase of finding a man who can do her the favor she's been wanting to do after Jude did something to her. Sassa as always will be the source of beauty and kanal (breath?) humor that gave her the nod in previous Regal projects, it just made each moment like a wild party!

But don't be deceived with the comedy content in this film because once the dust settles, Barbie will definitely give the DRAMA you can expect from an actress of her caliber. When Barbie and Khalil take you to the quiet moments, you'll be swayed with their tears, then feel her ANGER when she needs to.

SAVING CHERRY is a must watch, especially if you are a fan of BARBIE, MIKEE, AC, MIKA and SASSA because they all mirror the Filipino barkada. Make sure to bring your friends along when you watch this, because it's fun, you get to see what length people can go to for their friends, and you'll learn a thing or two about the women in your life. STAR MAGIC SPOTLIGHT: PBB Celebrity Collab Edition at the PBB House

It's been years since I last stepped inside the walls of the PBB House. This time we're doing it with the BIG 4 Ralph De Leon , Esnyr , Brent Manalo , and River Joseph. Then we'll also be talking to gorgeous Kira Balinger , Xyriel Manabat , AC Bonifacio , Emilio Daez , Klarisse De Guzman , and Bianca De Vera. This must have been a dream for a lot of people, and it's happening, so I took my phones and tried to record it all! 

This PBB year has certainly been fun, to have 2 giant networks work together must have been a tall order to look at on paper, but they were certainly eager to do it this way because you deserve it. First up is the good looking ladies and gents from STAR MAGIC. They've been doing several bouts of these STAR MAGIC SPOTLIGHT to make sure we get to talk to the artists directly. I was so happy because most of my questions were actually asked, and they answered quite legibly.

Their lives have really changed over a few months being in the PBB house, and as they mentioned, this isn't the last time they'll be doing collaborations after leaving the house. As a matter of fact, they'll be having the PBB Collab Concert: PBB COLLOVE on August 10th at the Araneta Coliseum. Tickets are selling out fast via TICKETNET so go and get them now!

CALISTA Conquers Araneta Coliseum with World Class Concert!

I was excited, let alone impressed that the girls from CALISTA was having a concert in Araneta Coliseum last April 26, 2022 in Quezon City. I was also glad that Liza, Denise, Anne, Dain, Elle and Olive would finally have their debut as a girl group, they've been working for years just for this... and they deserved that crowd that attended event called "VAX TO NORMAL" which they dedicated to frontliners during the pandemic. The pre-show was good as they started with several talented singers from Tyrone Escalante Artist Management. 

 

 

 

Then the show started.

The stage was something off international concerts, I felt that if this is just the introduction of CALISTA to what will happen in the future, they'll surely be a force to be reckoned with in the PPOP and international pop scene.  They did their latest single RACE CAR which they launched a month ago.

 

 

Yeng Constantino started it with a rock vibe singing a few of her songs including "Chinito" and 'We Will Rock You" which is a cover song from Queen (loved the setup with Calista). Elmo Magalona did a sentimental rap number singing songs of his Dad the late Francis M. Good looking dance prince Kenneth San Jose was a discovery, he was intense and impressed A LOT of people during his bit. I must admit, I'm a fan now of that guy. They brought out CALISTA's knack for performing, these are different genres they are playing with but they definitely making a mark in the first few minutes of the show.  

Stars in their own right, Darren Espanto was oozing with appeal as he made strides on the dance floor together with the ladies of Calista. The dance showdown with AC Bonifacio was also exciting, it made me think we've got a really good future ahead of us in terms of artistry because at this age, they're really very spirited dancers. Andrea Brillantes on the other hand was super fun to look at, extra bubbly and even enjoyed the dance number with Calista. She also endorse Leni Robredo by simply showing her outfit to the crowd, it's pink and that's a plus in my books! All in all, we've got a gem in our hands with Calista. They've proved with this concert that the Filipino is indeed world class! I don't know what's going to be next for Calista, but judging from their answers in the short press conference they had after the concert.... they're doing something even bigger in the next few months. I hope you get to follow them on their social channels so you can get to know them even more. They're continuing to inspire more teens to follow their dreams, I want to see them do international festivals and concerts because this one that they did in Araneta needs to be seen elsewhere.
