The Philips Multigroom Series 1000 (Model MG1100) for Precise Edges and Contours

Saturday, September 26, 2015

The Philips Multigroom Series 1000 (Model MG1100) for Precise Edges and Contours.
Now this is the new Philips Multigroom Series 1000 (Model MG1100) made specifically for Precise Edges and Contours. I was excited to have one of these because as you may have figured out by now, my hispanic lineage does come with extra baggage. Aside from being the curly guy all my life, I've been blessed extremely hairy from a scale of 1 to gorilla. That goes the same with my facial hair. I can grow a good short beard in a few days. If I decide to let it grow out it'll take me a week or two to have a full one but looked quite haggard because of stubble growth everywhere. I have to take my precious time after a bath to cut along the edges, check on the mirror and see if I at least have it all precisely cut. Somehow, it's like trial and error, unless I go to bespoke barber shops and have them do it for me. Now that just costs a fortune to do on a regular basis and having a Philips Multigroom Series 1000 was just perfect because I want to do it on my own.

Now I use two electric shavers currently, one at home (the Carrera which I got from the US), and the other for travel (the Korean Shengfa). I also use the 5 blade manual ones just for fun. Both these shavers won't actually be able to help me if I'm already working on the part where I have to sculpt the inner section of my beard. It just won't fit. That goes the same with the hair growing on my sideburns too. Having a precision shaver does the trick because as you can see, these two would be too big in that place in between your lips and chin. The only thing you would be able to do in that case is to totally take it out, but I like my beard too much because if you frame my face with the right amount of hair, you would look thinner and make your face look a little longer. (oh yes I know about every camera trick there is in the book!) I guess I learned a lot from shooting models and portraits and applied it on myself.

The Philips Multigroom Series 1000 (Model MG1100) is packed really neat in one box. It's got the actual unit, a manual/product information sheet, 4 attachments, a mini brush to clean the shaved hair and one penlight battery for free.

The motor is pretty strong, I could tell how it works with the attachments and it's pretty easy to figure out even without reading the manual. Although, I highly recommend you do that so you know what part goes where. The thing is, this Philips Multigroom Series 1000 (Model MG1100) is one of the easiest to put together. You just have to look at the arrows if you're attaching the head or the battery on the bottom, then a little twist to lock it up. I couldn't believe it's just powered by 1 battery because as I said, it seems powerful enough to do the job.

I used the Large attachment first so I could take out the longer strands of hair on my face so I could thin it out. Then after that, I used the Small attachment to cut it even more closer to the face. After that, I used the one with the metal holes on it so I could do precise shaving. Make sure you don't have a wet face while doing this as it'll make the job harder. The damp, toweled, and thoroughly moisturized face would do.

Here's a demo via a damn good looking guinea pig, me!

To clean it up, use the small brush that came with your kit and lift the cover of your fine shaver attachment. Make sure you clean it all up before you put it back in the box. Check out the brand and other products on the same line for grooming. It's one of the best things I've tried, if you're looking for one make it a Philips!

Erwan Heussaff and PHILIPS

Tuesday, August 11, 2015

We're in one of Erwan Heussaff's popular hangout's in Makati called The Red Light located at Felipe Street in the city's red light district. Erwan is a very well known businessman and blogger and authors the food, health and fitness blog callef The Fat Kid Inside.

We're paying homage today to one of Philips most advanced kitchen appliances and solutions, the Philips Air Fryer and Erwan showed us how to prepare healthy and delicious food at almost 80% less use of oil, which also means you get the same quality meal without compromising flavor.

Philips describes Erwan as Young Urban Pinoy and he's the perfect guy to represent Philips who can fit the lifestyle of today's young professionals. If you don't have a gas range, this would fit perfectly in your home because it's simple, and works so beautifully. It also cooks 1/3 less the time and Philips has Food Processors, Slow Juicers, Induction Cooker, Pressure Cooler and other things that could make your lives better at home.

He then prepared us dinner, a really good one at that.

Burratta and Greens - Creamy Burratta Cheese in a pocket on top of a crunchy crouton and some crisp white greens on top. This was an awesome appetizer.

Cold Corn Chowder with Shrimp cooked ala plantsa. The contrast between hot and cold plus the real corn, delish! Those greens on the side are actually from Bukidnon which Erwan says is something that he does, source local ingredients and get connected with farmers.

Chorizo, Romesco Sauce, Grilled Fishcakes, Toasted Quinoa - This is filling, but still light. I like it a lot. The Fishcake is made from Lapulapu, Shrimp and Tuna. He also used the Philips Air Fryer to cook it!

Now this was supposed to be Hanger Steak but I think he used Rib Eye instead. I love it a little rare so when he did this I was a little ecstatic! The puree is made of roasted pumpkin, potatoes and roasted peppers. The salsa verde made it taste fresh even if it's just a hint of it. Really good!

This is Banana and Guyabano Flambe with Coconut cream and caramel sauce. It's my first time seeing Guyabano be used in cooking so I was a bit weirded out, but it was really good. I'll definitely try this soon!

There are more things that you can do with Philips Home Appliances and this is just the beginning. Their flagship hero product is the Philips Air Fryer and it is leading in sales in the Philippines. They have made sure their research and development of these appliances don't go to waste by making sure the Filipino kitchen be filled with devices that would make life easy.

Erwan is planning to put up more restaurants soon, he's got 7 in total. He works out almost everyday, eats healthy but doesn't deprive himself of the good stuff. He even told us he's okay with lard, that's flavor so you can tell.

Thank you so much to Philips, thank you also Erwan for gamingly answering our questions that evening. We had fun!

Philips x Nancy Lumen's Cookbook Launch

Wednesday, July 22, 2015

We had a very wonderful time at Epicurious at Shangrila Mall in Edsa during the launch of renowned food writer and critic Ms. Nancy Lumen's cookbook called "Healthy Choices, Delicious Results: Easy Recipes". She partnered with international brand Philips so they could make quick, easy to prepare meals that are both delicious and healthy using state of the art Philips Kitchen Appliances. Now we know how dependable these devices are and they've been used widely in the US and other countries. The trusted brand gets on the plate and even improved the models of their products as compared with the ones they released in the past since the trend most often than not has verged into digital.

Exhibit A: Look at the Philips Air Fryer. This thing just dished out some of the crispiest, mouthwatering pork Lechon Kawali we have ever tasted. Thing is, they even made it healthier by using this device instead of deep frying the meat together with potato slices that turned into fries. We couldn't believe the flavorful pork cutlet turned into something like it by leaving it there seasoned well and out in just a few minutes. It's juicy, flavorful, not too salty, just right. I bet it's about 80 percent less fat we'll get with the fries too. Now if only people start using air fryers like these instead of lard or oil for pork or roasted chicken, we'd end up with really good food and stay healthy at the same time.

Crispy Air Fried Lechon Kawali anyone?

Ms. Nancy Lumen even showed us how Philips even made their air fryer even more awesome by having more detachable parts and a stainless top so you can never have one of those episodes where oil splatter is much of a problem, or perhaps cleaning it per ce. The first version only had a knob with it and this newer one has digital buttons on it that you can press either to cook at a preferred rate or have modes already exist for some of the more common dishes. Philips is definitely thinking of you... your comfort as consumers.

Well they didn't stop there. Philips also whipped up really good cucumber lemonade using their rockin and efficient juicer that not only gets the job done, it also takes your healthy food choices a step further. All the vegetables and ingredients they sliced up, they just inserted it into the product and poof! You've got healthy and flavorful drinks now! They also got first timers the chance to cook using the Philips digital pressure cooker. We all know some cuts of meats are pretty hard to cook and would require a LOT of time to soften by boiling. With the help of the digital pressure cooker, you don't have to second guess taking the cap off on the pot since everything's designed to work with time, plus the vents that are easy to manage when you need it, when you want it.

Blitz mushrooms, add cream, water and butter for a hearty soup. Juice up lime/lemon, pass cucumbers on juicer and you'll have refreshing drinks for the whole family!

If you've got meat softened, take pasta, veggies and make a lot of parmesan cheese to make good bowl of ribbonettes. It's going to be good to get the kids to eat veggies too.

There are more things, more possibilities that you can do when you own a Philips Kitchen appliance. Their brand actually doesn't really just develop and innovate products, they see to it that the feelings involved making that cup of coffee in the morning, that hearty meaty meal for lunch and those naturally sweet juiced veggies the whole day be felt, be thought of when you use each of these kitchen appliances. They call it "meaningful human experience" and not just designing just for design's sake. For them, it's those important human moments that matters most.

This new cookbook entitled Healthy Choices Delicious Results: Easy Recipes by Nancy Lumen will be given away as a free gift for customers who purchase Php 5,000 worth of Philips Home Living products starting this coming August. You may refer to information indicated on the official www.philips.com.ph website or the Philips Home Living Philippines Facebook Fan Page. They're also visiting some condominiums soon with news of trade ins for these gorgeous air fryers, you can get as much as 40% discount on some of them too so please make sure you've liked their Facebook page. Thank you so much to Philips, Ms. Nancy Lumen and the good people who put up this event, I really had fun!
