CHINOY: Mano Po 7

Tuesday, December 06, 2016

They might have been snubbed during the MMFF but they're surely going to be an interesting to watch this December 14 in theaters nationwide. MANO PO 7 CHINOY is another installment of the famous "Mano Po"series under the Regal Films matriarch Mother Lily Monteverde and her dauhter Ms. Roselle Monteverde's outfit. This year, they got Filipino Chinese actor Richard Yap, Jean Garcia, Enchong Dee, Janella Salvador and Jana Agoncillo.

In this film, Richard Yap will play a very protective businessman that is always on his toes making sure all his Filipino Chinese ways would be followed by his family. We were actually in one of the scenes too where Enchong Dee who played the black sheep son, sunddenly went on a rampage while they were being introduced to the Chinoy community. This will tell you more about how most Filipino Chinese families in the Philippines still employ the same old chinese traditions but finds it difficult now that they are getting into relationships with Filipinos. They shot most of the scenes in Taiwan and will fulfill the promise of presenting how it causes family problems and rifts in modern times.

This is another powerful drama about a family that hopes for love, tries so hard to find how they could weather the hardships of culture and differences and still get the family together.

Richard Poon and Richard Yap: The Chinito Crooners

Tuesday, August 02, 2016

It looks like the Moms and not so Moms are gonna have a grand time on August 26, 2016, 8PM at the Theater at Solaire. It's called RICHARD X RICHARD The Chinito Crooners: A Salute to Classic Lovesongs. They have both been admired in their respective fields and it's about time Richard Yap actually does another thing that he loves which is singing. Richard Poon on the other hand is excited because he'll get to sing not so popular songs but classic ones, which most of the organizers even liked when they conceptualized it. Richard Poon also wanted to support Richard Yap as this is his first time to go out as a singer, which the former encouraged him to do a long time ago.

Richard Poon also joked about stealing the audience of Richard Yap as he noticed most of the moms were in the VIP section in a gig they did a while back. They are still arranging guests, hopefully they could bring JK, Bailey, Jody Sta. Maria, Maricar Poon in the concert but they are still confirming it.

This was pitched to them a year ago by Richard Poon's manager. They thought about it and agreed to it a couple of months ago. As for the genre of songs, Richard Poon knows how it is a little difficult to combine what they're doing. Richard Yap mostly does love songs in the 80's and 90's while Richard Poon does standards even in the 50's and he knows he had to adjust a little on the POP side because of it. During the presscon, they had delved a little about politics and bashers online but some have valid answers, so they do talk. Anyway, they will be showcasing what they have in the lineup and you should be excited! They're also launching an album, hopefully before the said date and it will be also a collaboration. They also have half of the playlist already recorded and hopefully be out very soon! They're trying to revive and get the songs be interesting so the younger audience appreciates it.

Again, it will be at The Theater at Solaire in Pasay City this August 26, 2016. Tickets available at Ticketworld.com.ph or call 8919999 today!

Jodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap for The Achy Breaky Hearts

Sunday, June 19, 2016

We're at The Achy Breaky Hearts intimate presscon today with Team Chinoy Jodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap. The two have been very busy promoting their movie and I'm excited too as tje pairings are my families favorite.

Jody mentioned "Ian and Richard are a joy to work with, but I think I'm really close to both of them. It doesn't matter of they are married, I'm okay with that because there's no alterior motive. I love working with them. Direk always asks us about our opinions, Chinggay has been single for years and she's been heartbroken so when Frank came back she was more careful, she was also taking in consideration a new love and the previous guy she was with. That's where the story will spin. Now that it's Fathers day, I will give Richard care and concern ha-ha! I haven't reallt gone through a stage where I got to be courted ny two good looking guys. There are some scenes where I got to connect with Chinggay, about relationships, about a new guy. I always give chances, no regrets on my decisions, I know it will only make me wiser and stronger as a woman. This is our profession, but unlike what people know, we study our characters and we become effective portraying roles because of that. We alsp consult each other to make the scenes realistic. We know how to react because we did our homework. I know they are married and I respect them individually, it's better for me because I can make sumbong if ever ha-ha! We share the same standby area for 2 years, so it was just normal to be close. The last thing I want to happen is for real Team Tisoys and Team Chinoys to actually be divisive, and they made the story light and you'll understand in the story how it's going to make both of the guys end in good terms. If there's someone to pair with you, we have to make them believe the character, to the love story. Chinggay is guarded, but open with the other. They really pursued her and they showed their intentions. Chinggay liked that."

Richard Yap says "When we're working, we get into the story. We've also gone through wrongdoing, the faults in our relationship. This new one is something that should be perfect, that's what we want to do. I think Ian and I have dofferent levels of expertise and he's really good in drama but I don't want to compare and I'll leave that to the audience. I can relate to the guy, my character, because before I got married we broke up but when we got back together I knew for sure that I'll marry Mrs.Chen. It's the cooperation of everybody, we study our characters so it looks real in camera. When we started out, we didn't know each other and through time, we developed our friendship. We have common interests, mutual trust and respect came later on. We both know each other's moods, we already know when and not to disturb each other. Jodi is so attractive, but we have our limits, and we're professinals and we must keep it that way. "

The movie will premier on June 29 and is Directed by Tonette Jadaone. This is produced by Star Cinema.
