GMA Announces Stellar Cast for HAPLOS

Tuesday, June 27, 2017

I've been waiting for this show to come to GMA Afternoon Prime for the longest time as hunky actor Rocco Nacino and vixen Sanya Lopez has been hinting about this project a few week ago. This GMA show won't be holding back on stellar cast as it includes drama princess Thea Tolentino, Pancho Magno, Patricia Javier, Francine Prieto, Emilio Garcia, Diva Montelaba and legendary Celia Rodriguez to make your afternooon viewing more interesting.

Yes this is a love story, but it's got some interesting twists banking on the love team that formed in Encantadia called DANQUIL who's characters were portrayed by Rocco Nacino and Sanya Lopez - giving the pairing of Aquil and Sanggre Danaya some sort of continuation, which their fans would surely enjoy. Though these ladies are not ordinary as they posess powers they use for good and evil, patterned upon the mysteries of local witchcraft. That would make this fight a huge one, unprecedented, totally original on GMA Afternoon Prime.

The Director Gil Tejada adds "This was conceptualized way before when I was in the project and I only arrived and fine tuned it because the characters were already made. I really hope you like this show, it's so different."

Rocco will play Gerald Cortez, a hardworking salesman who only wants to have a family of his own. He says "I am surprised about how we were accepted starting from our pairing in Encantadia, I am thankful to GMA for this big role. This is good news for me as this probably was brought upon our pairing in the other show. We are confident about this show because we already know parts of it, as it puts us on top of our game. I see how we both improved in the show and you'll see that in Haplos. Being with Sanya, I see myself when I was starting. There are a lot of people waiting for the kissing scenes, but we will present it differently because our love story is kinda weird between Angela and Gerald. The audience will really appreciate how this story would be told. Sanya is so hardworking I'd be glad to give her a massage after all the work she's done."

Pancho Magno portrays Benedict Dizon and he says "I am blessed and grateful to have worked with Direk Gil, Rocco and Sanya so this was easy to me. I was surprised about our preview with the effects and all. Encantadia almost ran a year and this is a good place to start again. They are really good friends, let's just say that."

Thea Tolentino plays Lucille Bermudez, Angela's half sister. She says "I don't base my character from previous shows, I only do it as accorded by the script and ask the help of my director to properly portray the role."

Sanya Lopez says "I am thankful and greatful that I was trusted by the network. There is a huge difference between Danaya and Angela as the former is quite strong willed. She fights for Gerald most of the time and her family. Haplos means taking care of each other, that's what Rocco is to me everytime I need him, I could have gotten that from one person, but he gives that to me willingly. He always asks me in kissing scenes, he's quite a gentleman. If there are love scenes, we'll do it appropriately. He is naturally sweet and cingy, especially with everyone in the shoot. We are very close with our work in Encantadia (which lasted a year), we know our priorties and doing all the things we need to do in the show is a priority."

Patricia Javier adds "Knowing that I would be getting to play her Mom in this series, I was excited because I always wanted to have a screen daughter (all my other projects included sons). She's genuinely kind an humble, she really focuses on her work and I only have good words for her. She's like a bamboo, the higher she goes, she still bows when there's a wind."

Emilio Garcia says "I don't want my kids to end up like these characters because I always want them to bond."

Ms. Celia Rodriguez laments "I am surprisingly not evil here, I am very good. Whether you believe the fantasy or not, it's all up to you. The witch I play switches between science and magic, of chemicals or natural medicine, some goodness and some demonic inspiration. I helped a lot of people here and it is all up to the people to find if I'm doing a good thing or not with also raising Angela. Let's just watch how it unfolds because it also questions science, it's that contradicting."

HAPLOS will begin in July 10 on GMA's Afternoon Prime replacing D'Originals. You should definitely watch this!

The Cast of GMA's "Hahamakin Ang Lahat" Facebook Live Sessions

Monday, October 31, 2016

GMA is starting a new afternoon header called "Hahamakin ang Lahat" (means renouncing everything just to please you) starring Kristoffer Martin (who's hunkier now), Joyce Ching (yes they're exe's in good terms), Thea Tolentino (premier villain), Renz Valerio (who promises to do mature things in this soap), and newcomer Bruno Gabriel (a very tall guy with good looks) and a couple more people to complete the cast.

Now I wasn't prepared to actually see what was going to happen to the Facebook Live Q&A because honestly this is my first time to see them in this setup. I was expecting it to be a little more on the interactive side and I think they even gave more than that. The greeting alone was shocking because they said "Hi and Hello" like it's the 4th of July.

This is my first time to see Bruno Gabriel and if my hunch is right, he probably is a ramp model. His built, very muscular body, would probably pass off as very athletic. He plays football, tennis, and just learned that he's the son of former actress Lani Lobangco. Albeit a bit quiet during the event, he comes off very eloquent when he talks, he got teased about that because it looked like he prepared a lot about what he was going to say in that live stream. I think the show had a different working title previously but he says he's excited to be part of this show. He's not nervous anymore because he got a lot of help from his co-actors. I think they're probably trying to pair him with Thea Tolentino in the show, but we have yet to find out how that would turn out.

She's lovely, a bit thinner than the last time I saw her and she's raring to challenge the KrisJoy pairing on this show. She's one of GMA's believable anti heroes, and she's done a remarkable job in her past shows. Now that she's in "Hahamakin Ang Lahat!" she plans to attack the character differently as she's not directly going to be evil. I got the sense that you might be rooting for her as well as she tries to be in the way of KrisJoy in this soap. We will find out on their premier this afternoon. I still owe her a Strawberry Shortcake because when I went to Trinoma that morning Papermoon didn't have one yet on the shelves and said to go back at 4pm, long story! But I'm so glad she's still here, remember the long running Half Sisters? Ah, you should expect more!

Joyce is very versatile. She could play possum one day and a monster the next. She's very bubbly, and Kristoffer and her rapport is just contagious! They're like an automatic tag team when playing around, they even finish each other's sentences. It would be easy to find them sweet on this show because I think they are in real life. If I didn't know Kristoffer's gf I would've believed they're still together. I'm sure you'll get along with how she'll portray her role this time as the romance evolved between her character and Kris'.

Kristoffer bulked up a bit, probably stemmed from working out a lot these past few months. He's a dynamite ready to explode when you put him in a group. He was drawing punchlines left and right, hugot's even. But this show will probably showcase his knack for drama, he's always been good in that department and this show would probably prove to be another challenge to see if KrisJoy still have what it takes to be a love team. I'm a fan of these two!

Taller, feistier, Renz Valerio was also trying to fool around with the cast that afternoon. He's not that shy anymore and he exudes good manners even if he's trying to be naughty. He's a really good example for teens now trying to phase in the more mature roles like in this soap. They were joking about him drinking and stuff, you should have been there live. His adoring fans can't wait to see him, they were the most vocal that afternoon and he's pretty thankful for that.  Watch his character become involved with the lovers, the other people in the show because he's someone to watch out for.

I hope you are all enjoying the show right now. Here's a rerun of thay Facebook Q&A shot from my camera. Enjoy!

Mint Riffs Level 4: A Musical at the Music Museum

Thursday, March 31, 2016

This is the setup for Level 4, a show in Music Museum this evening produced by the people from Mint Riffs, the local glee club of Mint college (Meridian International) destined to hone young, promising, up and coming OPM artists in the Philippines. I bought tickets to the show and was invited by Mikoy Morales, another one of GMA Artist Center's promising singers/artist. He's not just performing but actually a musical director here, he was proud to wear this among his many hats. I didn't know what to expect as I was a little clueless about the whole thing (although I found out later they've been doing this for 4 years), but I was sure it would involve singing as I know Mikoy's a very spirited one. I think most of the people who went there were family and friends of the performers. They came in throngs, but I was able to spot Thea Tolentino while I was in the entrance earlier. Then the show started.

It's a musical production, it's not as flawless as you may understand. Well chosen songs though, a mix of 80's, 90's and current tunes. As for choreography, still had a few hits and misses, but for a school production this is already a good shot. I saw a few who could pass off as professional singers. Here's a sample, one of their songs You Gotta Be is my personal favorite. Some hits and misses, but twas nice though and refreshing to hear that from Millennials.

I like the short medley done by the girls, the one with the glasses on the other side of this shot impressed me most. She did so many things in the event that would put wow in the conversations in the audience. She should think about seriously making singing a career.

The guys in the other hand made efforts and did good in the "performance" aspect of the show. It was entertaining enough to not get anyone in trouble. They sang girl band songs btw, which was a little crazy. From Beyonce, Destiny's Child, things like that was easy lol. I also liked the "hugot" portion, the lines were heartfelt.

Anyway, we, the parents, relatives, friends and fans in the audience had fun. That's what's important. I mean most of you are just beginning, and this was testament that you can achieve anything if you put your heart into it. You should pat yourself on the back, you did REALLY good.
