Troubling News Again

Monday, March 08, 2010

It's so troubling to hear on Larry King that another 13 year old girl was raped and killed. These things keep happening on a modern day in the US and I think it is inexcusable. Why do these former prisoners that are out on a bail just freely roam out in the public without government supervision? I wonder what ordinary residents would feel if their neighbors are sex offenders. I wonder how they would feel if this is the real picture in other states and they could not do anything about it. There should be a continued effort from both private and public sector to educate these people and prevent repeat offenders. I do not know about what the congress could do but I am for harsher punishment for parole violators. Mississippi sex offender reports are available on line and I hope other states and countries have this too. It would be beneficial to just get hold of that information. I believe in giving access to the public and this is just an example of that. I believe in second chances but I also know that the choice of living in a safe neighborhood should be given priority. I would want my own family to live somewhere safe and free from worries. If I work all day and come back to my wife and kids knowing that they are safe then that would be the greatest reward I could receive from the government. Make sure you check out sites that provide this data so before you even purchase a house you at least would get an idea how the community works. This should never be endemic to any place anytime.

Back to Church

I just went to church last Saturday evening. Well I dunno really what to feel but I'm definitely afraid my nightmares would occur again. Christ the King church is not that bad but boy it was definitely hot there. There is a ventilation problem plus the audio sucks because I couldn't really understand the priest. It's like everything's garbled. Now where else can you get someone going to church and complaining about it hahahaha!

I went there for the prayers and of course to accompany my Mom who has been the best thing that happened to me. We ate after that in Red Ribbon. I don't know but I think that store is getting under rated too. Their palabok and dinuguan is awesome. I like it a lot but they phased out their puto which makes it hard for me to eat the latter. Their drinks were not that complete too, I wonder what happened to that branch. That was supposed to be their main one and it looks like its not getting any better through the years. I would not be surprised if it closes down anytime soon. Either that or they have to renovate the place. It is deteriorating.

Celebrating with my Mom was one of the best things that happened this year. I know its quite simple, but it for me it is priceless. It may not be as big as anyone thought but it is the best one for me. Thanks for everything Mom I had fun!

You Can Never Be Too Safe!

Saturday, March 06, 2010

Things have been pretty rampant after the economic crisis that has stricken the country. Crime rate is at an all time high and I did not think I get to live in one community that has this problem too. I can imagine since the shopping district already had put up security they probably all the hooligans from that area transferring to the more residential part of the town such as ours. I never thought it would be a problem but I just heard someone got raped and killed here two weeks ago. I was shocked because we are a pretty quiet neighborhood and hearing stories like that made everyone's jaw drop. I think in this day and age, not everywhere is safe. But we all should take precautionary measures. Local officials should work hand in hand with people from the national government and fund registries of people who have committed these crimes. I know we all have to give second chances but not in the expense of ordinary citizens. When the suspect was actually caught yesterday evening, investigators said that he had been in and out of the prison. What's worse is it's also their relative. I just thank the heavens for sparing everyone else since this has been solved. I hope the government puts up listings like the one I saw for some texas sex offender when I was in the US. At least before you do live in a neighborhood you already know what to do when it does happen. You can never be too safe!

Weird American Idol

Hmmm I think American Idol is getting weird. Some of the contestants who performed better looks like are being taken away because of the votes. It is quite disappointing to see what is happening. Maybe I am feeling this way because they took one of the best singers there. And maybe some of the worst ones are still left in the competition. Who am I going to root for now? I guess I'll have to wait for the replay of the girls so I can judge who is going to get my vote. I saw some parts of it and most probably it is that lady who hit the high note on the Aretha Franklin song, what is weird is that she is white. No one would think they would do that on a rainy day but it looks like she is one proof even white people can sing heheh.

Now it is weird, no matter how much we put it. I don't really know who to root for. There are no Fil Ams this season so it won't be a default one =)

Here's to a great singer soon! Cheers!

Game On!

Friday, March 05, 2010

I have been a fan of computer games since I was a kid. From the 2D platform games and other weird mock ups from today's successful gaming corporations, I always follow what people say is best and see for myself if it at least passes my standards. I am a very meticulous gamer if you can put that into words. Since I have been working for a multinational corporation that deals with network security, they literally have locked down every on line game I know from the Internet. I do get to play great flash format ones like the things in Poptropica Games and I enjoy them a lot. It is surreal that even in those software based 2D titles I still get to play the titles I have done in the past. Shooting from space ships, jumping from bricks to monsters and everything in between... I am so glad I could still get my hands on them. I love flash games and if there was an opportunity to use my spare time between breaks then I will be the first one to suggest where to go when my office mates need it too.

I know my friends could recommend more titles but this one seems to be already complete. I love this so much I play more at home too. Who says it all ended when new consoles came up right?! Classic Flash Games Rule!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Yawwwwn!!!! (Stretching!) Well I just arrived from Tagaytay. This is a city a few hours away from Manila and is one of the greatest places to spend summer because of the cool breeze and high altitude. Today, one of the most influential people in my life celebrated her birthday and what great way to celebrate it but to eat lunch with her in that awesome place. They woke up around 5 AM in the morning and got up to take a bath. My dad who is a notorious nocturnal like me woke up just for this day. He drove to get me in my office right after my shift because I go out at 7AM and her sister (which means she is also my aunt) also is celebrating her birthday today. Actually if you think about it, my Mom's other 3 siblings are celebrating their birthday today. Imagine that!

I don't know how my Grandpa did it but boy March 5 must have meant something for them. I love my Mom. So in this post, I want to greet her a very Happy Happy Birthday!

PS

I know I'm not a model for SANTOL LOL!
