Santa Rita Wines Hold "Of Tapas, Tannins and Tarots" 120 Event

Saturday, October 17, 2015

We had a moment of pleasure a few days ago when we went to BGC for the Sta. Rita Tapas Night. Rich tasting food, Spanish tapas, a real deal Spanish guy was there to show us the ropes about what it should feel like if we were to have Castillian flare in our food and wine.

Sta. Rita, a brand of wine from Chile hosted "Of Tannins, Tapas and Tarots" to further intensify their call for making moments "enjoyable". It's when they also dished out 120, a wine combination so they could concoct the best Sauvignon Blanc, Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon to ever land Manila. The number is related to the 120 patriots which legend says fought for Chile's independence in 1814. Men who fought that long and hard battle took refuge in today's estate cellars which houses the wines in it. That's real deal history in every bottle.

Thank you so much for Tapeo, a place where they held the event for getting those scrumptious tapas and bottles of Sta. Rita wines. I'd like to go back there with friends and family. We also saw flamenco dancers, a fortuneteller (which I was almost certain she was talking about love life!) and the lovely Santa Rita wines and tapas served that evening. The brand is now available in major wine stores, liquor stalls in big groceries nationwide! I love that it's going to be a great everyday wine for Filipinos, it's legit and I love the White wine the best. You should get a bottle for that special dinner you're having next time!

Glorious Food at Sands and Indigo Restaurant in Discovery Shores Boracay

My short Boracay stay wouldn't be complete without food. For any balikbayan or foreigner, I always believe that it's an integral part of a trip to actually experience Filipino food with an ambiance as spectacular as it is in Discovery Shores Boracay. After lugging around our bags from Manila all the way to Boracay island for a few hours, it was a good thing we stayed at Discovery Shores Boracay because we knew that we're up for an immensely scrumptious feast at Sands Restaurant and later at Indigo Restaurant, of which both are the resorts flagship food destination.

The Interiors

Sands Restaurant and Indigo Restaurant is found in the front beach side of Discovery Shores Boracay. It's a great place to lounge as the breeze of the cold easterly winds makes it way to Boracay's shores. Since you're also located at Station 1, you are bound to have a more peaceful and quiet ambiance with only the occasional crashing of the waves heard on the background. The structure is modern, the furniture and decor follows nature, and it's bordering zen like on some instances. With the white walls, high ceilings, Sands Restaurant pretty much would be a grand place to welcome friends and family before you sit down for breakfast, lunch, high tea or dinner.

If you're a bit romantic or maybe have been bitten by the love bug, have them arrange your dinner at Indigo Restaurant. It's right beside Sands Restaurant but is in the more secluded side of the resort. They do hold events, wedding proposals and formal dinners here so you get to enjoy the more blue classy, club side of the resort's facade.

From the looks of it, they've got a pretty good batting average with women saying yes to most of the proposals so if you're thinking of that special dinner to actually tell her how you feel, Indigo Restaurant's the way to go!

Breakfast at Sands Restaurant

I really require a heavy breakfast because that's where we kinda "refuel" so we can go around later in the day to spots in Boracay. I wouldn't recommend you to cook when in Discovery Shores Boracay as it's very troublesome to actually look for ingredients and cook it yourself when in Boracay. The room packages often come with the buffet breakfast so if you may, ask for it specifically. Here's some of the items on the breakfast buffet which I ate that morning, please don't judge! LOL!

Celebrate World Pandesal Day at Kamuning Bakery

Thursday, October 15, 2015

We were in Kamuning Bakery a few days ago to get a load of the pan de sal items on their menu. The place has been reconstructed to accommodate more people inside. Aside from the actual Kamuning Bakery, the Kamuning Bakery Cafe has been on my go to places when working in this district. The Ham Egg and Cheese Pan de Sal Sandwich, the Bacon Pan de Sal Sandwich, the cakes, the Tawilis Pasta, are highly suggested for you to consume on your first visit. Aside from that, my favorite Kamuning Fried Chicken basket should never be missed. If you're around here,  make sure you drop by and say hi.

Oh before I forget, tomorrow is World Bread Day. That's October 16, 2015. In lieu of this momentous occasion, Kamuning Bakery is declaring tomorrow as WORLD PANDESAL DAY. Kamuning Bakery, owned and managed by noted Philippine Star columnist Wilson Lee Flores is giving away FREE 30,000 pieces of pugon baked pan de sal. They'll be doing it in the neighborhood and perhaps nearby communities in Quezon City. Kamuning Bakery by the way is the FIRST bakery in Quezon City and it's but a good thing to do now that QC is celebrating their 75th Diamond Jubilee too! They'll be also with Senator Sonny Angara and Dingdong Dantes at the 9AM Pan De Sal Forum inside Kamuning Bakery Cafe so if you're around, make sure you catch them!

Kamuning Bakery Cafe  and Kamuning Bakery is located at #43 Judge Jimenez Street in Kamuning, Quezon City. They are open early morning up until 12 Midnight so please have a cup of coffee while you're there. See you in our neighborhood!

Oh and please post, tweet, instagram with hashtag #WorldPandesalDay #KamuningBakery #KamuningBakeryCafe so you could join in the celebrations!

Rocco and Kyle Nacino Opens a Bigger, Brighter, Better Rufo's Timog Avenue

It's been a while since we've seen Rocco doing something else aside from his shows. A few days ago, we were invited for the re-launch of Rufo's Famous Tapa in Timog Avenue in Quezon City. It's literally a stones throw away from the GMA Network Center, in the front Timog Entrance and it's accessible both from EDSA or Timog Avenue. The proud Kapuso hunk partnered with his brother Kyle Nacino who also invested in this dream which they've been working on since last year. Kyle even said that this would really change a lot in their family dynamics since he's not going to look at Rocco the same way. They might primarily be brothers, but he's now a business partner and he hopes it'll bring them much closer and spend quality time, make time for work as well too.

Rufo's can now be converted into three small private rooms on the second floor, a dining area for patrons downstairs and has got ample parking space downstairs for those who just want to walk in. They've renovated the place and now it's not going to have a great hangout place on the 2nd Floor plus real fast turnovers on the first floor.

There were tons of friends and family who also went to Rufo's that afternoon including Mikoy Morales, Bianca Umali, Miguel Tanfelix, Wyn Marquez, Mark Herras, Lovi Poe, Rocco's lovely girlfriend (and a whole lot more!). Here are excerpts of the event on HD Video! Enjoy!
