Holidays with Beko

Thursday, December 31, 2020

European boss in home appliances Beko is going to make your life a little easier this holiday season. You see, they know by this time, that you're actually preparing the menu for New Year's eve dinner. In the Philippines, we usually cook on two burners which sits on top of counter space while we chop and prepare things on the side or what's left of it. We also have barbecues or grill a lot of stuff outside wherein you would need to buy charcoal in the market, go home, light a fire, and put them all on the steel grill and flip those meats every once in a while. Then if you want to bake cake, you would need to get an oven, mix stuff and then look at the time profusely so your cake would turn out not burnt.

That would take hours right? Well Beko thought about you and has made a cooking range that can do all three functions. It's got an induction electric cooker, two ovens with a grill so you can do all of them simultaneously. It's also free standing which means you won't have to sacrifice counter space if you get the Beko BDC6C55X. It also comes in stainless steel varieties so it can match your other appliances at home without worrying about design, they give you choices and that's something nice.

So if you haven't had the gift for your Mom, or any person in your family that cooks, put them to work and consider getting a Beko today. If you want to know more about Beko, go check out and see the possibilities of getting the number 1 European brand in your own home.

There's a Hilton Clark Sun Valley Resort in Pampanga

Honestly, I didn't know. I haven't been in Clark Pampanga in a while and if I do, it's almost just because of the airport. Though this is actually good news that they're opening up huge establishments especially from Hilton Hotels and Resorts group.

The Hilton Clark Sun Valley Resort has 308 rooms equipped with digi keys, with Hilton’s signature Serenity bed, premium bath rooms, a fitness center with the latest equipment, an awesome outdoor pool, a Kid’s Club, an outdoor playground, walking+jogging paths, and soon a wellness center.

They also have several dining choices, Olive which is an open kitchen - all day dining place with views of the pool and the garden. They also have XI which is a modern Chinese place that serves Cantonese regional dishes. They got Treat which serves kitschy coffee, snacks, cocktails and wine.

They also are implementing the Hilton CleanStay program which they do across their other properties so you're assured of a well sanitized place to stay. Oh and have I mentioned their 1,800 square meter meetings space? Here, you can do meetings, weddings and other social gatherings (with precautions done of course). If that's not enough, they can send you to their 1,010 square meter Grand Ballroom which can fit 1,200 guests. It also includes the usual audio and video amenities, so your events would be fitting this place quite well.

This just looks like a phenomenal place in the north, I'd want to visit this place soon. Go visit them at for reservations, or simply call them at +63 45 598 5400. Tell them I sent you, I kid!

Beach Front Homes Waiting To Be Owned at FREIA

It's lovely, it's dreamy, things you just can't imagine actually exists. Fancy it? It's called FREIA, named probably after the norse goddess of love, fertility and battle. Now I know you've all been confined in your homes in Metro Manila or somewhere else in the world, but if you're already going crazy and in the mood to be relocated in a peaceful and luxurious place, then this newest mid-rise residential condominium in Pico de Loro Cove at Nasugbu, Batangas might be the perfect fit for you.

For those who don't know, the whole of Pico de Loro Cove is being developed by internationally renowned SM Prime via Costa Del Hamilo Incorporated. This property is very secure, quite secluded, but this 40-hectare estate has got panoramic views of the West Philippine Sea. It's a short drive to Nasugbu town proper and about an hour and a half to Manila. They also got lots of open spaces, shaded nooks, covered walkways, quite substantial sized condos from 67-154 square meters. There are also three-bedroom loft penthouses from 221-392 square meters, some look even bigger than a house, it would be perfect for weekend getaways (your very own spot) or perhaps your actual home rather than living in the smoke filled air of the city. The sea view units are where you can see the action on the beach while the mountain view units gets you much solitude and quiet, there's one for your preference. These units are not available for rentals, as security is tight in these properties. Condo prices also come with bundled Pico de Loro Beach and Country Club individual membership.

Now that doesn't mean they're bound to miss the city's amenities because if you're hungry, it's very easy to order via three restaurants in Pico De Loro's cove. It can be served in your homes, no fuzz. If you have medical emergencies, there's a 24/7 ambulance which can take you to the nearest hospital too. This community is also near churches and just about anything you would want to raise a family in. All these, surrounded by trees, crisp smelling wind which you can have all year round. Kinda nice huh?

If you're looking for one, simply call (632) 7-945-8000.

Share the Love and Give Back with AIA Philam Life

2020 is about to end and hopefully, nothing bad will happen from hereon. We remain good, hopeful, we learned a lot, and lucky to still have our time with family and friends at the comforts of our home this Christmas. But think about it, not everyone is actually lucky. There are folks who lost their jobs, families who got hungry, even organizations, foundations and charitable institutions who lost funding because everyone is in dire straights when the lock down happened. I just hope they're not suffering, especially the people, the children who they are taking care of.

Anyway, we still have a lot to be thankful for. The question I always ask my interviewees when I end a session is "What are you thankful for?", I guess in the months we've been locked in on our homes, it still brought something good with humanity. People have sought and helped family, other folks, relative or not, just pretty much our fellow Filipino. It's also the right thing to do.

AIA Philam Life is doing the same. They're giving back to one of these charities:

SOS Children’s Village -  An NGO focused on fostering care for children.

Haribon Foundation - All for biodiversity and conservation.

Leonard Cheshire Foundation - A health and welfare charity organization.

Anawin Home for the Elderly - A care center for the abandoned and elderly.

There are more. If you become the winner, you can get to choose a partner charity organization. They will receive Php 100,000 from AIA Philam life, which I'm sure they need right now. This is the AIA Philam Life Share the Love and Give Back Promo. You may check the whole mechanics here You can also sign up for it here so you can help them help others. Check out the hashtag #TuloyAngBuhay on social channels to see more of it.

That's a good thing.

The Dark Horse of MMFF 2020: The Boy Foretold by the Stars

Thursday, December 24, 2020

I will say this, for good reason, this film called A Boy Foretold by the Stars will be the dark horse of MMFF 2020. Tomorrow is judgement day as online streaming is going to be done via wherein these entries will battle it out not by ordinary box office ticket sales in movie houses, but by online tickets on that platform. If this was poker, I'd put in most of my chips in this interesting movie which stars Adrianne Lindayag and Keann Johnson. We already have had the chance to talk to them earlier this month and this time, we got to talk to them with a little more enthusiasm as they got a glimpse of how people have been reacting to their recent trailers and pronouncement on media. I am pleased how positive it has been accepted so far and by the looks of it, this would really be an interesting movie to watch as it's not just designed to ruffle feathers because of its LGBT content, but a whole love story that happened in high school. Oh yes, young love, which is awesomely depicted on this film will bring back your days of innocence. That time when you realized you're capable of having that fleeting feeling, butterflies when you're with someone else you adore.

Direk Dolly Dulu says "I'm super excited to be in the MMFF and we didn't expect this to happen, but we will do our best and claim victory for the film. I guess it is the quality of the movie that can persuade people to watch it, it was meant for the big screen and the mindset is it is to be shown on cinema but not a series. The treatment and story and how we tell it technical wise is different. This is the first BL full length movie that focuses on the highschool life, the experience of how a young boy falls in love with a young boy, that's what it gives. I think there were lots of films that were sent for MMFF, but this is at par with the other entries. I hope it isn't just because it is a BL series, but it is a good movie. BL for me focuses on the "coming of age" part, this is innocent, sweet, cute, very light genre. It focuses more on love, not on other things. This is about their personal discovery. The Philippine story telling usually concentrates on family matters, sidekicks, a bit mainstream. I feel people are just waiting for it, our mindset doing this in CineFilipino was to have someone start it."

Keann says "One thing I discovered from this movie is that this tells a story about two boys having a special connection. Their story is finally being told on screen, to hopefully become more open about the LGBT community, if people should embrace the words LOVE has no gender. It's a very difficult life for a gay person to live in, and almost everyone goes through that.  I said yes to this because of the overall story, Direk Dolly did an amazing job as you can see from the trailer, just from the moment he gave me the intro, the story itself, I was already hooked. I really hoped to actually get this, I even asked my Mom about this and she wanted me to do this. We really made effort to make this worth it, let's all fall in love on Christmas day. Establishing chemistry with Adrianne came naturally, we really made an effort before shooting this film. Direk had specific scenes he wanted to have and showed us how he envisioned it. We always talked about small things, we kept in touch, we hang out, we became extremely close, we knew Luke and Dominic are best friends, all of what you see in the movie is natural."

Adrianne says "I want everyone to realize that everyone has a love story, that even an effeminate little boy deserve the kind of representation in the silver screen. We always see them as side characters, funny ones, but not their love story, now is the time to do that. It's fun, light hearted, it is also educational and inspiring. I had a friend, she told me to be specific about it and I wanted to have a goal and direction for my career and the first role that came to mind is a love story, I wanted to portray a person with a leading man, and the universe gave it to me. I auditioned for this film last year and it's not question, I immediately fell in love with it, like an answered prayer. If they wanted me to swallow fire, be hit by a truck I would do it. In the entertainment industry, there is a lack of opportunities already for the LGBT community. There is a lack of roles, and I think that's also taking away opportunities for actors like me. I came from a production background and these days, there are capable gay actors who are ready for it. Let's give them the jobs, they know the stories, so they could represent us and tell the story authentically. We used to work in separate projects and when he came in the audition, direk already saw we knew each other. This means so much to me as a queer actor, and this also means a lot to Keanne as well, we're doing this from a deep place in both of us, there is a sense of service. We were told that this wouldn't work if we didn't jive, we had to be partners (hence he calls him a partner) we had to have a special connection and you can see that in camera. I want to tell our story, I want to do queer roles as it is my advocacy. I hope there would be more material, continue telling the story of our community, there are a lot that needs to be heard. Expect kilig, expect light romance, see you on theaters!"

Iyah Minah says "I wanted to experience to be part of this movie, a story talks about those who are not open with the LGBTQ community, on how they have relationships and it's not because of gender and what not. I think it's better if queer people tell the story, and I hope it gets delivered right and I'm glad they are very open about it. I hope people remember that because we do have very talented people in the community. For me I think my previous role had opened up LGBTQ roles, that they can portray, to be known, I hope it's the start of something good."

Here's how the blog conference went a few days ago:

For those who would want to watch the movie and would like to see the first BL themed film in MMFF history, you've got to catch them at and see for yourself if it is possible to love with no boundaries. Go watch it with your friends and family, after all, the movie can be watched on your laptop or mobile phone and you can just pay for it while the whole family sees it on screen. This film was made with love as intention, very light, and was crafted good I'd recommend it for Netflix or other streaming platforms too.

I'm definitely watching this, as it is worth the few pesos. Oh and congratulations on the recent nominations of A Boy Foretold by the Stars. I heard you got 12, including the Best Actor nomination for Adrianne Lindayag. I wouldn't be surprised if he wins. That's how awesome this is!

The Boy Foretold by the Stars has won three awards including Second Best Picture at the recent MMFF Gabi ng Parangal which happened last December 27.

Awards won:

MMFF Gender Sensitivity Award went to The Boy Foretold by the Stars
Best Original Theme Song went to The Boy Foretold by the Stars Jhay Cura and Pao Protacio
MMFF 2nd Best Picture went to The Boy Foretold by The Stars

What have Filipinos been looking for online?

Wednesday, December 23, 2020

Things are very tough these days and getting savings through online shopping have been really easy especially these days when people can't go out, and the only way we could transact is online. I've been using Carousell for a couple of years now. In the app, I've had really good finds especially the film photography products I adore. I also found several chairs, bar tables and computer products in the app which makes things easier for me especially when I look for users who are quite near me so it would be easy and safer to transact. People have been also getting cars and real estate properties here since it's still doing the same things they've been doing in OLX which was originally their platform. I'm so glad this existed especially during the pandemic.

Carousell was also quite nice when they waived fees for some of the transactions especially for the automotive market. That in itself is a huge help especially for businesses who are also suffering economically. They also launched #ChooseToCare which is a fundraiser for the benefit of Lung Center of the Philippines. They also held The Great Property Sale so they could give discounts and more relief for people who were finding homes during the pandemic.

What's great is that Kantar research revealed that 80% of Filipinos are actually okay with re-gifting. These days, Filipinos are apparently searching more for iPhone and Samsung, gaming consoles like Nintendo Switch or PS4, desinger brands like Louis Vuitton or fast fashion items from Zara. They are also looking for Macbooks from Apple, notebooks from Asus, while some look for second hand cars like BMW and Toyota. With some of the items in Carousell being pre loved or second hand, it would be a nice place to find these mobile phones, laptops, bags or stuff you need around the house. If you haven't tried Carousell yet, or perhaps want to sell something too, go download it off Google Play and the App Store, because it's convenient to find stuff there.

Try it out!

“50 Acts of Kindness” from UFC

UFC is our home grown Banana Ketchup brand whom we loved for over 50 years. Today, they've grown their product line into various condiments and they've acheived success with hard work, bringing to homes of Filipinos the same kind of love for food and meal UFC is a part of.

This holiday season, UFC wanted to give back to Filipino families and they found it so right to launch their 50 Acts of Kindness campaign. They got the assistance of celebrity endorsers and approached selected families in the country that have been affected by the pandemic, to give them relief from their situation and perhaps an opportunity to save their lives, one family at a time.

For starters, they got Ms. Aiai Delas Alas to bring help to Ronald Sto. Domingo. He's a choreographer and had some projects before the pandemic, but after all that happened these past few months, the loss of livelihood took a toll on his earnings. He resorted to enter the food business and sold products online in order to fend for his family. But he didn't just end there, he also helped other people in the same situation and taught them how to make a living too. Some of his earnings went to frontliners as for him, he finds happiness if he gets to help others, which for UFC finds amazing. So on December 13 and 14, he and other 6 families received the "Sama-samang Sarap ng Pamilya bundle from UFC" which consists of a whole Sari Sari Store, the signage for the business, and tons of Nutriasia products and groceries. They also gave them laptop computers and wifi so they can sustain their business online while the pandemic is happening. They also got Gloc 9 to nominate a family to receive the same package, so that they too feel the spirit of Christmas.

There's a lot to be thankful for, but UFC hopes these 50 acts of kindness would be able to help a lot of people. They also want to help their families, to earn and make a living. Here's hoping they would be able to sustain their businesses, and make this project a success!

That's a nice thing UFC, good job!

Heattech for this Season: UNIQLO and JW ANDERSON Holiday Collection

This is the first Uniqlo and JW Anderson Holiday Collection and by the looks of it, it really depicts a cozy countryside British cottage which is the theme they were going for. Feel a little woozy and not in the mood for the holidays? Well don't be sad, because you can actually give yourself good skin and health these holidays just by taking one thing, it's POTEN-CEE + C the Vitamin C capsule that's got Collagen in it.

Vitamin C is essential for the development of your body tissues, strengthening of your immune system, healing of your wounds if you get it, and the formation of your bones, teeth and cartilage. Isn't that amazing? Well not just that, because this variety has lots of collagen which reduces wrinkles and dryness of it. If you see your skin holding up to age and gravity, it's collagen that is doing that. If you don't fancy that variety, you can also opt for the Vitamin C that's sugar free, which is perfect for those watching their sugar intake like me.

More Surprises These Holidays on WIlbert Tolentino's VLOGS

It's almost Christmas and with the country celebrating the longest one in the world, good news are still coming despite the pandemic. The lovely decorations and trees abound, and as the country fights COVID-19, some choose to spread good vibes and happiness. He's a very well known guy in the entertainment circuit. He's a former Mr. Gay World titlist, businessman and philanthropist, he is Wilbert Tolentino. Recently, he launched his new vlog and currently, it has about 300,000 subscribers. Under the name Wilbert Tolentino VLOS, he features entertainment, stories of love, life, charity work, tons of fun and games. He calls his community "Kafreshness" and with good reason, he actually wants you to be part of his YouTube journey.

Aside from that, he was able to also collaborate with some of the country's most entertaining set of people. He also hosts debates with some of the funniest queens in his clubs, and also takes time to put a part of his earnings to help communities and also feature local celebrities. He's been very active the past couple of days and has been uploading quite consistently. He's just starting though, so brace yourselves for more.

Wilbert says "This is exactly why I did vlogging in the first place, to spread joy, entertainment so I could make people trapped in their homes to laugh a little, maybe more. We all have our anxieties during this pandemic, just putting a smile in their faces makes me feel great!"

He shares "I have survived severe pneumonia from COVID-19 but I wanted to offer assistance to my fellow men through this medium. The calamities, the pandemic, and lack of employment these days might get people depressed, so in my own way, I'd want to encourage them and give hope. I also would like to bring them together and look for different ways of entertainment. My dream is to also get social media personalities from different platforms and recognize them via "The Philippine Influencer Awards 2021" whom I'd like to happen in the near future (in the pipeline). So see you real soon!"

On Christmas eve, he's also going to do a Noche Bola Raffle Bonanza at 7pm for all his subscribers. So if you would love to be part of the Kafreshness gang, make sure you head on to his channel and subscribe today!
