Ely Buendia is now okay ^_^

Sunday, August 31, 2008

My hero Ely Buendia is resting at a local hospital ^_^. He's okay now!

Articles from local news says Ely Buendia is now okay. Thank God!

“He had a slight attack because of stress due to the recent passing of his mother (Lisette Buendia), and their sound check which lasted till 3 a.m. today (Saturday),” said MTV Philippines and Radiohead director for marketing Ronald Esguerra “But we have received word that Ely is now in stable condition.”

My hero Ely Buendia suffered a heart attack on January 7, 2007 and had already undergone surgery. The concert, which was staged at the Fort Bonifacio Global City open field in Taguig, started at around 8:15 p.m. and paused for a break at around 9:30 p.m. The Eraserheads opened their much-awaited reunion concert with “Alapaap” and “Ligaya,” complete with fireworks display that bested even WWE!.After waiting at the open field for an hour since the intermission hoping for further developments, loyal fans of the band calmly left the concert area after being treated to a thrilling first set.I was touched by the fact that the fans did not clamour for the concert's continuance but understood that Ely has to be safe.

MTV Philippines’ Esguerra said that while he is hoping for a second Eraserheads reunion concert, there is still no word on whether another one would be staged.
“We have received no word of a Part Two but we also hope there will be one,” he said.

Here's there setlist btw!

hey jay
kama supra
huwag kang matakot
with a smile
shake yer head
huawag mo ng itanong
light years

poorman's grave
trip to jerusalem
back to me
maselang bahaghari
maling akala
para sa masa

huling el bimbo

Even if they did not finish the second set just knowing this and the memories that came along with it is just amazing!

Note: Ely Buendia is all things omnipotent for this blogger.
Thank you to everyone who like me made their own prayers for his safety.

KUMAGCOW'S Food Review: DQ Mango Almond Blizzard (1st Evah!)

Blizzards from DQ... something cold and X_X

Well people... I just had my first taste of DQ's Mango Almond Blizzard. Sorry to say, I just did not like it. You know why? The ice cream was not "mango" enough... there were not so much of a mango when I ate it... it would have been nice if it had mango bits on it... but instead they only put a measley amount of mangoish syrup on it that did not even taste like the real thing. The almonds? OMG.. I thought I would enjoy it but NO... the chunks of almonds were too big... and mind you when I took several crunches on it the almond skin sticks to your throat I coughed a couple of times ingesting this supposed treat. I did not enjoy it. The strawberry kitkat was way better. I'll give this 1 Kumag. Hey! At least I got fed right?

Ely Buendia was rushed to the hospital OMG! =O

Ely Buendia in one of his gigs

Ely Buendia was rushed to the hospital OMG. The Eraserheads Reunion Concert was cut short because of this. After they played their songs Alapaap and Ligaya they went on a break then the MTV Producer and his sister went up on stage after a 20 minute intermission number. They are all still on the field waiting for further announcements. Ely Buendia was rushed to the Makati Medical Center and doctors say it was due to overfatigue. Reports indicate that Buendia is now in stable condition. "He had a slight attack because of stress due to the recent passing of his mother, and their sound check which lasted till 3 a.m. today (Saturday)," said officials from MTV Philippines. They all asked for prayers for the band's lead singer and songwriter. IMHO they should have made practices days before the concert. How I just wish he's okay. I hope this is not the end of it. He collapsed and sat onstage after singing Lightyears and the audience thought he was just acting. Raimund Marasigan also came out onstage, followed by Marcus Adoro and Buddy Zabala who assisted Buendia's sister in announcing that the concert would no longer continue. Let's just pray for him T_T

Note: Ely Buendia is all things omnipotent for this blogger. I pray that he's okay. T_T

Cabin Cuddler a Lifesaver!

There are currently hypoallergenic varieties of down pillows to allow people sensitive to down to enjoy the comfort of feather or down pillows. In Asia, buckwheat is common filler, as are plastic imitations. Such pillows tend to be smaller than a standard pillow. Internally, a pillow comprises fillers made from foam, synthetic fills, feathers, or down. Traditionally straw was filler, but this is uncomfortable and rarely used today. Feathers and down were the choice of the rich and famous! These offered the advantage of softness and their ability to conform to shapes desired by the ordinary man, more so than foam or fiber pillows.

A trip to New York was an eye opener to me. Did you know that airlines nowadays no longer carry blankets or pillows? It’s crazy huh?! Nobody told me or even see it in the news. It was really devastating since you would need to be comfortably seated in a 17 hour flight in a land that's 10,000 miles away from where you are. My mom was right telling me I had to be ready for anything... of course I wouldn't want to sleep in the streets of New York if I ran out of money lolz... its a good thing I brought along my handy dandy Cabin Cuddler !

I was saved by this new product that had a travel blanket system that's contour cut covers every inch of my body. The pockets on the foot part always keep my feet warm. It's perfect for airline and home/office use. The soft cushioned reversible tote bag holds both the inflatable pillow and blanket, so its really easy to carry! Mine fits on my hand carry too... ~I'll let you in a story later about it too ^_^.

In the office, not that I sleep on the job (0_o) (don't yah insinuate anything!) I had brought along this Cabin Cuddler. In a cold office with men who have the temperature at 65 degrees because they are all wearing suits and I was merely wearing my lil old comfy shirt I'm sure to have frozen to death (0_o). Good thing the blanket was all i need so I could continue pressing my keyboard and finish tons of reports. Cabin Cuddler even makes the workplace livable wouldn't you believe that! ^_^

I would like to recommend this product to everyone who wants to be ready for just about anything. For people cute like me.

Still WAR in Mindanao (-_-)"

US envoy Kenney, MILF chief Murad Ebrahim meet on peace process in Camp Darapanan in Mindanao

Things that happened today kinda knocked me off my feet... I watched the news this evening... It was all bad... all about the war down south... Like this stuff about the government and the MILF and the numerous ways they point fingers at each other. The Philippines looks like a bloodbath in the south. In the island of Mindanao where there is a lot of promise, there is right now WAR. Yes ladies and gentlemen, they are at WAR.

The MOA that was supposed to be signed in by the government giving territorial privileges to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front did not push through because the Supreme Court stopped the proceedings since they considered this unconstitutional for the Executive branch to give out land that belongs to the republic. Yes, I hate the MILF... not because I am Christian... but as a citizen of the Philippines I do not want anyone hurting the civilians and making them human shields for their cause. A couple of their supposed men blatantly went "TRAITOR" and ransacked several towns in the war stricken land. Killing a few soldiers and civilian too. People think its simple, but this has gone for hundreds and hundreds of years. I would prefer that the government just stop these traitors and start dealing with these hooligans. Stop them from hurting people down there, they have their rights too you know! (-_-)"

All I want is peace down there, can't these guys just stop and just work their *** off like me. I remember the basic principle of life taught to me when I was in high school...we need to study to learn, learn to earn, earn to live, live to serve others... now why couldn't we just do that... I want to punish these people who think too highly of themselves because they weild guns... they think they can do anything because they have power over others... I hope they know what they are doing... I hope the government can resolve this once and for all.

Come and Join Merkadonetwork!

The degree an individual is near all other individuals in a network (directly or indirectly) makes people closer. It reflects the ability to access information through the"grapevine" of network members. Thus, closeness is the inverse of the sum of the shortest distances between each individual and every other person in the network. Getting people together in its simplest sense would make opportunities available for everyone. A new social network named "Merkadonetwork" is not just plain connections, it makes you have the chance to earn free load or money while staying connected with your friends. Virtual and online communities have also become a supplemental form of communication between people who know each other primarily in real life, you should start in the early stages of this community and take advantage of the huge opportunity it presents you.

Merkadonetwork focuses on building online connections of people who share interests and activities, or who are interested in exploring the interests and activities of others. Most of its services are web based and provide a variety of ways for users to interact, such as personal comments and instant messaging services. Earn and make Money while inviting friends because the more you get them to sign up, the better your earnings will be in this initiative that prioritizes pinoy bloggers and other nationalities alike.

Social networking websites like www.merkadonetwork.com are being used regularly by millions of people, and it now seems that social networking will be an enduring part of everyday life. This type of social networking services that merkadonetwork gives are the same as those which contain directories of some categories. You can invite your classmates, have means to connect with friends (specially with their new easy to see profile pages), and recommender systems linked to each owner, referrals are indeed recommended so you can earn more. Popular methods now combine many of these, with MySpace and Facebook being the most widely used in North America; Bebo, MySpace, Skyrock Blog, StudiVZ, Youmeo, Facebook and Hi5 in parts of Europe; Orkut and Hi5 in South America and Central America; and Friendster, Orkut, Multiply and Cyworld in Asia and the Pacific Islands. Merkadonetwork is also now in line with these and made much better because of the fact that you earn with them which you can't really do with the others because of its internal revenue point system. ^_^

Mercadonetwork connects people at for free; this can be beneficial for entrepreneurs, bloggers like me and small businesses looking to expand their contact base. It can also make us easier to keep in touch with our contacts around the world. Members now can start to network with their peers from anywhere, at anytime in an online environment. Earn via GCASH and Smartmoney with merkadonetwork’s revenue point system. They are pioneers in this remittance service so managing earnings would be just a cinch! So let’s not waste precious time! Let’s join the merkadonetwork. ^_^

USA Men's Basketball wins Gold in Beijing

Sunday, August 24, 2008

This was the only medal the 2008 USA Dream Team and the whole USA wanted.

The US team won the Gold medal in this year's 2008 Summer Olympics. They only gave the mightiest men that the NBA has so it is quite obvious that they will win.

USA 118 (Dwyane Wade 27, Kobe Bryant 20, LeBron James 14, Chris Paul 13, Carmelo Anthony 13, )

Spain 107 (Rudy Fernandez 22, Pau Gasol 21, Juan Carlos Navarro 18, Carlos Jiminez 12, Marc Gasol 11, Felipe Reyes 10).

In the end, USA prevailed 118-107. Gripping the Gold medal in the games!

Scores shows that this is a highly defensive match between the two countires. US Team while on play were complaining heavy fouls and bombardment from the Spaniards. This meant a lot of course so they all did their very best. ^_^

A superb game-high 27 points from Dwyane Wade (21 of them in the first half) and 20 from Kobe Bryant the US took the best shots from the Spanish. They led 69-61 at the half, but saw Spain close to within four in the third quarter and two in the final period. Then Bryant nailed a four-point play and the momentum was with the Americans, try as the Spanish might.

And they tried plenty, right till the bitter end. The electric Rudy Fernandez and the towering Pau Gasol were huge for the gallant silver medalists. Repeatedly, the likes of Bryant, Wade and LeBron James had repeated the mantra that this was bigger than anything they'd done in the NBA. This was for their country, they said, and that made it so. After six long years, the USA finally rules the basketball world again. Argentina, even without injured star Manu Ginobili, were too good for Lithuania in the bronze playoff with an 87-85 victory giving them their second straight Games medal after they had won gold in Athens.

Well, the Philippines won a Gold Medal in Wushu but since it is not a recognized Olympic sport its not going to count in the Medal Standings. Good job though! I am disappointed however because we did not win a single medal that can be counted there.

Willy Wang from the Philippines wins WUSHU gold and lone medal of the Philippines
Wushu is considered as an Olympic demonstration only and not counted in the Medal Tally

NY Public Library and Cabs with International drivers ^_^

I still remember the lights at Times Square, when this young Filipino lad landed in the land of promise US of A. I can never forget the feeling of being squeezed in between expecting that everything was "Sex and the City" where Sarah Jessica Parker would suddenly just pop up into the open and greet me with her infamous GIGANTIC flower and Manolo Blahniks while getting splashed in the streets. Well right in front of me, after hours and hours of sleep and deprivation of it was just the city's public library and CABS... hundreds of CABS with Indian and Jamaican looking fellas. Talk about a mix of cultures! O_O

My friend promised me a night of enjoyment, well I said yeah yeah you can probably do anything that you want and we could end up anywhere but I won't even know where I am anyway. Sure enough, he became an instant tour guide... well not exactly...he gave in and got a city tour instead! ^_^ all expenses paid, courtesy of him (lol). It has the nicest name too… Trusted Tours & Attractions which you’ll surely love! ^_^

I saw couple of pictures of well known comedian Rex Navarette when I watched a couple of his shows in the Phillies. Yeah he knew what he was taking about. He really knows where to hit funny bones of people like me. Just a pat on the back and a couple of "messing up" of my friend's hair suddenly gave me free tickets to see his show that night. Man was I in for sumthing... Something crazy as Rex Navarette.

Since that was in the evening, we hopped around the streets and pointed me to some of the coffee table book pictures I saw at shops like starbucks in my homeland. That was really a sight to behold. Liberty... and I was at an awe!

OMG! Liberty moved! O_O

The tour was to blame for that, it was the culprit why was I holding my breath everytime! I even had fun at the famous Madame Tussauds wax museum! All included in the New York tours package they offered.

Bush and me discussing WORLD and International matters

By the way, they have a special promotion where a person can win a $150 Magellan’s Gift Certificate by signing up for their newsletter (http://www.trustedtours.com/newsletter.aspx). You should get this and never think about wasting time ever again! Go with New York tours! It's just awesome! ^_^ I STRONGLY suggest you start with their online travel guides

Customer Service (Bad effects of outsourcing to India)

My Aunt passed away this past January. Her bank billed her for February and March for their monthly service charge on her credit card, and then added late fees and interest on the monthly charge. The balance had been $0.00, but had now grown to somewhere around $60.00.

I placed the following phone call to the bank:

Me: "I am calling to tell you that she died in January."

Bank: "The account was never closed and the late fees and charges still apply."

Me: "Maybe, you should turn it over to collections..."

Bank: "Since it is 2 months past due, it already has been."

Me: "So, what will they do when they find out she is dead?"

Bank: "Either report her account to the frauds division, or report her to the credit bureau...maybe both!"

Me: "Do you think God will be mad at her?"

Bank:"Do I think God... excuse me, what did you say?"

Me: "Do you understand what I was telling you... specifically the part about her being... dead?"

Bank: "Sir, you'll have to speak to my supervisor!"

(Supervisor gets on the phone)

Me: "I'm calling to tell you, she died in January."

Bank: "The account was never closed and the late fees and charges still apply."

Me: "You mean you want to collect from her estate?"

Bank: ".....(stammer)" .... "Are you her lawyer?"

Me: "No, I'm her great nephew, but feel free to contact her lawyer at: XXX"

Bank: "Could you fax us a certificate of death?"

Me: "Sure."

( Later, After they have gotten the fax. )

Bank: "Our system just isn't set up to handle this..."

Me: "Oh..."

Bank: "I don't know what more I can do to help..."

Me: "Well... if you figure it out, great! If not, you could just keep billing her... I suppose...don't really think she will care...."

Bank: "Well...the late fees and charges do still apply."

Me: "Would you like her new billing address?"

Bank: "That might help."

Me: "Fredrickson Memorial Cemetery, Hwy 19 and plot number 233."

Bank: "Sir, that's a cemetery!"

Me: "Yes sir, that's what we do with our departed loved ones."

Potato Sacks

For those keyboard jockeys (those with jobs that require sitting at a computer all day) who don't want to spend the money for those fancy exercise machines, here is a little secret for building arm and shoulder muscles. Three days a week is best.

Begin by standing (in your cubicle works well) with a five pound potato sack in each hand. Extend your arms straight out to your sides and hold them there as long as you can.

After a few weeks, move up to ten pound potato sacks and then fifty pound potato sacks, and finally get to where you can lift a one hundred pound potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute.

Next, start putting a few potatoes in the sacks.

Now don't you feel like laughing? ^_^ Hehehh....

UE Red Warriors bows to Ateneo Blue Eagles 61-57

UE lost this game to Ateneo, but its okay! ^_^ We can do it!

The UE Red Warriors suffered a heartwrenching loss to Ateneo this afternoon Aug 20, 2008. I personally am sad because I've been rooting for my warriors since I've been one. I'm also part of the Red Tribe. If it were not for Tiu who sank a three-pointer while they were three points down in the fourth quarter to force overtime at 50-all we could have won this game. The lapses in defense were evident.

Ateneo was comfortably ahead in the first three quarters. The Warriors, however, managed to turn the table in the fourth quarter. They also hauled down a total of 24 rebounds mostly on the defensive end, outmuscling their UE counterparts inside the paint. Rabeh al-Hussaini and Nonoy Baclao combined for a total of 29 points to ward off the Warriors. I'll be holding on to the promise of them getting back on their feet and win more games.

Have you forgotten something?! : Alzheimer's Memory Walk

I somehow think of Michael J. Fox if I hear stories about Alzheimer's Disease. It's sad that of the fantastic 80's movies that he made, he suddenly was struck by Parkinson's Disease. He was doing orgs for stem cell research and finding out also the co-relation between the two. I hope a cure would in over three years by a team led by ProteoTech Inc. (Kirkland, WA) develop a treatment for Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease that can disrupt or inhibit clumping of the protein alpha-synuclein. This clumping is associated with the loss of dopamine-producing cells in the brains of people with AD and PD. The researchers theorize that blocking this protein clumping could prevent further cell loss and stop this disease’s progression.

Other organizations such as the Alzheimer's Association, is holding Alzheimer's Memory Walk which is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. Its looking for team captain's to sign up and enjoin their community to benefit and help a lot of people for this event.About 30 percent of Americans over the age of 65 are affected by this disease, so do your share now!Join the Alzheimer's Memory Walk!

Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes for PSP ^_^

Monday, August 18, 2008

I've been a Naruto Fan since I knew it even if it was not that publicized in the Philippines I always got ahead of the others in getting acquainted with up and coming Anime titles. Yes! I bought betamax tapes of Dragonball when I was in highschool would you believe!?! ^_^

Today I am giving more time playing this game in my PSP slim ^_^ and yes its giving me a GREAT challenge and YES ladies and gentlemen, I have NOT finished playing this yet. From the looks of it, every detail in the story came to life in the game also. A few days ago I unlocked a couple of in game movies and characters Kakashi, Guy and Gaara, but there were like 8 more characters I haven't seen yet. I've got to get more familiar with the PSP buttons coz I don't usually use the LR buttons on top. I have finished God of War and Brave Story so I'm really not gonna give up on this one.

Combos in this game is easy since it only requires a couple of buttons pushed. Ultimate moves use 2 buttons pressed simultaneously but its not that automatic and sometimes its easily blocked. Since I am now playing the HARD option for the game, I'm trying my best to finish it before the weekend. I just hope I don't get hand spasms and eye problems before I get to finish this ^_^. Good luck to me! I give this 4 KUMAGS! ^_^

Btw, I just bought a headset with mic and crystal case for my PSP slim ^_^ Its expensive but its alright... ^_^ I've got to take care of my gadgets of course! ^_^

Beijing Olympics: USA 'Dream Team' proved too strong for Yao Ming and China

The mighty efforts of the tallest man in the competition proved insufficient against the combined power of Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Jason Kidd and the rest of the US Dream Team, who prevailed 101-70 in an impressive show of strength and power that ruthlessly ended the pre-game expectations of the hosts.

Michael Phelps wins 7 Gold Medals in Beijing Olympics. Milo Cavic, the Serbian who grew up in Tustin almost stole this dream of a 7th Gold Medal from Phelps landing a Silver Medal in the said event. Cavic almost pulled it off. He'll swim in the 400 medley relay Sunday (Saturday night in Pacific). If he wins, that will give him eight gold medals for Beijing and 14 for his remarkable career.

Cavic by the way is filing a protest because time stands at
