Have you forgotten something?! : Alzheimer's Memory Walk

Tuesday, August 19, 2008

I somehow think of Michael J. Fox if I hear stories about Alzheimer's Disease. It's sad that of the fantastic 80's movies that he made, he suddenly was struck by Parkinson's Disease. He was doing orgs for stem cell research and finding out also the co-relation between the two. I hope a cure would in over three years by a team led by ProteoTech Inc. (Kirkland, WA) develop a treatment for Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease that can disrupt or inhibit clumping of the protein alpha-synuclein. This clumping is associated with the loss of dopamine-producing cells in the brains of people with AD and PD. The researchers theorize that blocking this protein clumping could prevent further cell loss and stop this disease’s progression.

Other organizations such as the Alzheimer's Association, is holding Alzheimer's Memory Walk which is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. Its looking for team captain's to sign up and enjoin their community to benefit and help a lot of people for this event.About 30 percent of Americans over the age of 65 are affected by this disease, so do your share now!Join the Alzheimer's Memory Walk!
