SHOPEE Breaks Records this 12.12 BIG Christmas Sale

 

 

This is just some news over the shopping habits of Filipinos this Christmas season, Shopee just got hold of the numbers and it has been astounding. Compared to last years shopping activities, this year, Shopee has garnered a whopping 4x the amount of items sold on the platform compared to 2019. This 12.12 Big Christmas sale has officially broken records in just the first hour and there are also several shopping habits seen on the platform.

Top purhcases came from Home & Living (congrats titos and titas of Manila), Men's Apparel (because your man deserves it), Health and Personal Care (because we need to fight covid and also look good). Most purchases came from Metro Manila, next is South Luzon and last is North Luzon. The top shopper for the platform made 100 orders on this day and the most popular product are Men's Joggers. (It's pretty cold and nippy these past few days and men want something comfy and protect them from the cold nights LOL). They sold around 30,000 pieces of it. Next product comes close at 20,000 for shoe box organizers, which reminds me, I need a lot of that LOL!

Big Things Coming on SHOPEE's 12.12 BIG Christmas Sale

Oh yes big things are coming on SHOPEE's 12.12 BIG Christmas Sale. We got the chance to see what will happen this December and the grand day on 12.12 earlier including an appearance from Jose Mari Chan and the one and only Queen of all Media Ms. Kris Aquino. Shopee also told us some of their milestones and what the next few days would look like with the 12.12 event coming our way.

Martin Yu, Director of Shopee Philippines shares "2020 has accelerated everything digital. Shopee has innovated its platform in the region and has driven growth despite the pandemic. This brings the human touch to online shopping. Consumers want to be entertained, informed and Shopee has made changes to make it more meaningful. Livestream has increased 10 times across the region. From January to September this year, it has quadrupled. Some of our partner brands have also increased sales and have captivated more users and changed the lives of a lot of Filipinos. We have daily segments, a new ambassador with Kris Aquino and have launched different programs to support our shoppers and sellers. They awarded several brands for also doing good on the platform. They had several successful campaigns in the recent months. It has proved to be successful in sales too!

I was super ecstatic to see Ms. Kris Aquino in the same virtual room as ours and she says "Shopping is my hobby and I've been buying things off Shopee during quarantine. I have broken Shopee Pay. I am so happy to be part of Shopee that's why I'm always happy. I want to sing with Joe (ahahaha "that signature laugh"). Thank you to Shopee for increasing riders during 11.11 because I read the comments I see on my social media channels, you are helping a lot of families. I am praying for more things this 12.12 so we can help more. We need to hold hands, help each other out to bring back the economy. Starting December 3 up until December   11, you can also get perks if you use ShopeePay as your paymemt option. Shopee Endorsed by Kris Aquino

I had my heart on my sleeve when I saw a silhouette quite familiar to me... but remained a mystery to some of my blogger and media friends one morning. I am sure they wouldn't be able to guess who this is, but at that time I already had a pretty good hunch. The holidays are of an important part of the Filipinos lives and Shopee is launching 11.11 and 12.12 in a big way. They got the one with the huge personality, the one that got us all in the edge of our seats when she opens her mouth, she's a source of happiness and a ball of fun, speaks of truth, classy, with an impressive command of English and hell of a lot tactless at times, much like me, and I love her for that. She is no other than Kris Aquino.

The mother of Kuya Josh and Bimby is now the official endorser of Shopee. What I felt during this time was an OMG floating on top of my head. I couldn't believe they got the queen of all media doing the best job this season, but in hindsight, I couldn't blame them at all. I was excited, to say the least, to see her doing what she does the best, and she hosted the online media conference's games to give us a taste of what's going to happen this November and the Christmas season. 

11.11 and 12.12 was also explained to us briefly by the Shopee Country Head Martin Yu. In a nutshell, Shopee is growing and so is the trust of the Filipino consumer with their app. They showcased how they have given access to e-commerce to everyone and will continue to do so in the coming years. Now that everything is online, they even got necessities like groceries in the app making it easier for consumers to repeatedly use the platform and make it part of their daily lives. Making sure also that it is safer, from shopping, shipping to receiving the packages and I can attest to its convenience (oh I always Shopee). Ms. Kris also told us of her different purchases during quarantine which includes all pink items, pink surgical masks, knick knacks and a lot of other items in the same color shade (not surprised, it's why I love her!). During 11.11 and 12.12, they will have FREE Shipping Days, a Flash Sale Day (Nov 4), ShopeePay Day (Nov 5), Games Day (Nov 9), and my favorite Voucher Day (on November 10th). Not only that, they'll be having special brand sales which includes top ones in the country, they made it bigger for you because Shopee is a huge partner.

Kris also told us that there will be several opportunities to also help. Organizations and charity institutions will have direct channels on the app where consumers can directly help so it would be easy for them to do so. It will include Digital Charity Sales, Co-Branded Livestream with Brand donations and an in-app donation drive which I find so endearing. Imagine, they took time and effort to do this so they could help causes which are also close to Kris Aquino's heart, which is such a noble cause. They call it Shopee Bayanihan Pamaskong Pambata.

Kris will also have participation not just in the commercials, but also in a big 11.11 Christmas Special which will happen on November 11th in Wowowin. They will also be having a whopping Php 1 Million worth of Daily Cash Prize in the 11.11 and 12.12 Christmas Millionaire special which will happen soon, so stay tuned for that!

By the way, we got first dibs on the new Shopee commercial and all I can say is, that Kris Aquino you miss will be so much fun to see. TV5 Partners With Cignal Entertainment for New Shows in the Kapatid Network

The landscape of broadcasting has changed and TV5 is ramping up their shows and reviving their entertainment arm earmarked with this new partnership with Cignal Entertainment. 

They did close down their home grown entertainment shows and talent pool a few years back and just concentrated on Sports and News programs as a business decision. However, they saw how there is a need for new and fresh content for Filipinos and that would need to come from somewhere. Broadcasting is having a major transformation and people are looking for options especially in free to air and pay tv. Number one pay tv provider Cignal TV knows this and the move to partner with TV5 is in some way came naturally, as Robert Galang the head honcho for TV5 says "We are now positioned better, as we enter a new phase to expand programming and promote new content in our assets.There will be in house production for TV5 but for news and sports. Most of our entertainment content now will be independently produced. TV5 and Cignal TV will be having the same head, having a common vision leading both companies to seamlessly work together. Separate orgs, but will have more collaboration using both our strengths."

Producer and Director Perci Intalan adds "TV5 has been a breath of fresh air in the industry. This is where a lot of programs have been born and now in the crucial time of TV history, they decided to invest in entertainment again. Now we are balancing entertainment content that the advertisers are looking for, starting APT entertainment who has 2 shows (Bawal Na Game Show and Fill in the Bank) , doing things they are really good at. Talentadong Pinoy is also back, with Ryan Agoncillo called “Bangon Talentadong Pinoy”, Usapang Real Life with Ms. Luchi Cruz Valdez, Chika BESH with Pokwang, Pauleen Luna Sotto and Ria Atayde, Fit For Life with Jessy Mendiola, In Action with Raffy Tulfo. Ms. Sienna Olaso the First Vice President and Head of Channels & Content for CignalTV says "A few months back we launched Buko channel, in there we have programs with Maine, hopefully Perci can also add more of that content into TV5. We continue to plan and do creative content in our channels. The pandemic is just pushing off some, a little of the shoots."

Direk Perci days “Kris is very much welcome in TV5 but there are a few things they need to fix from their side and that production is external. It is their turf, but one thing for sure is that we are excited for her and we will wait for her."

About Ms. Sharon Cuneta and ABSCBN

Sir Robert Galang says "TV5 is open to everybody including talents of ABSCBN. We are working with independent producers working with us, in co productions or block timers, we can work with everybody."

We got the impression that they are even open to the idea of getting block timers which may be good news if ABSCBN would see that as an opportunity.

Direk Perci adds "Ms. Sharon Cuneta is also welcome if someone produces her show on TV5, issues in the past don’t matter. We don’t and never close doors."

On IdeaFirst Content

Direk Perci says “I am not pushing for anything from IdeaFirst as I am wearing two hats. I only approve shows as accorded to me by content and TV5 programming. Also, Gameboys is already good in Youtube, I don’t know yet for TV, but anything can happen.”

I hope they do consider this including Pearl Next Door because it's high time people see it on free to air and digital TV.

For those who want to pitch content in TV5, they are looking for quality, fresh content, gameshows, narratives, if it passes their taste, it can be presented in the channel. He says "We are talking to producers mostly, if they have stars from any channel it is their choice. We don’t talk to individual artists so it would be from them. There will be opportunities, to intentionally have our own stars. Someone can pitch, talent shows included, remember we discovered Morisette in a show before. A lot of stars have just not gotten big breaks, we will let it come naturally if it can happen with TV5. There are more ways to break the tradition of programming, the genre may always be the same but how you do it is the difference. We will be pushing the envelope."

Direk also added “We are targetting August 15, for the formal launch of this partnership. We are also in talks with other production companies but they are still in development. Big comeback? Of course it can’t be done in one day but our first shows will be launched in August 15. We are mindful people don’t want everything in one day, but rest assured there will be more shows on TV5."

So for now, they've confirmed Fill in the Bank, Bawal na Gameshow and Chika Na BESH which is produced by APT Entertainment. We can't wait to see these new shows and a brand new TV5 lineup in the coming months.

Kris Aquino Still Winning At Her Game!

She's been called names, problematic, she failed a lot of times, switched different networks but she never backed out of a battle. Now she's doing it on her own. She's Kris Aquino and you like her, and sometimes you just don't want to admit it. I like her a lot and follow her story profusely. Her insane decision to actually go digital must have been a gamble, but now she's bearing the fruits of her labor. She's donning a Hollywood film (which the world is eagerly awaiting, I think there's another one after Crazy Rich Asians), she's had countless brands still believe in her and have her endorse it including iFlix, PLDT and Smart. 

If you remember that time when she was just starting to make content for her Facebook page, you must have watched (together with a couple million people eh?) that National Book Store video when she physically went to a branch and shopped for our love, Bimby. You could see how human she was, how she made an effort to choose the best pieces, get affordable ones and see how a rightfully pretty Mum wanted to shop for her own son's school supplies through the campaign they called "Kris Faves and Finds". It would have been weird to see a star of her stature actually do that but as in all those other things she does, we all relate to it in more ways than one.This was the work of KCAP Productions and people from The Huddle Room Media Inc. and true enough it didn't really come unnoticed.

They heard great news that their efforts in doing that campaign just got them a Bronze Winner Award at the BERLIN NATIVE ADVERTISING AWARDS for Best Use of Influencer. It's their first ever recognition from a European institution that recognizes media companies, brands, organizations, companies, agencies and studios engaged in producing native advertising around the world. That's something to celebrate about! Imagine how she bested a ton of other ones from other countries.

She's achieving so much in a span of a year, she's doing more and will still hold the title of Queen of All Media. Pretty soon, you'll see her back on TV, doing the things she loves because she's destined for it. Congratulations Ms. Kris! Congratulations to your KCAP Team and Huddle Room! PLDT and Smart Communications Welcomes Kris Aquino

It looks like the Queen of all Media is now connected to the BIGGEST network. She's not only endorsing it, but she's walking the talk as she's using PLDT Home FIBR plan and Smart Communications LTE network in her business, at home and for her boys. Before she arrived, executives from PLDT told us about their milestones and talked about the current status of the network and took pride in confirming a few things especially the improvements they made in the past year. 

Alex Caeg, Head of Wireless Consumer Division for Smart says "We're happy that Open Signal has already released the report has increased it's edge of LTE Coverage nationwide. We have 60% advantage over our competitors and I think it's a big thing to enable our subscribers and educate them about this revolution to tell them about LTE. For us to bring Filipinos to the digital era, we need to upgrade them to a 4G device, to make sure their sim cards support it, in Smart, Sun Cellular and TNT, we have all these offers that people can now enjoy. This way, more people can enjoy it now. By next year, we would have 90% of our network supporting LTE. This will empower Filipinos and make everything accesible to them. iFlix, iWantTV, will now have 99 peso packages. We also are launching more Smartspots nationwide to enable communities get 100mbps capable connection, so they can feel the power of LTE at most food parks in the metro, and also in their homes if they are on our network. Our brand ambassadors will talk about it later especially on SUN and how they will move to 4G networks even for a minimal fee in these offerings. The journey has begun, it goes beyond the personalities in this room."

Marc Nelson hosted the event and I specifically heard him being invited to Kris Aquino's house so he could experience the unbelievable wifi connection they have at home. Ms. Kris laughs this off as an excuse to teach her how to swim, Marc says YES!

Speaking of people, we saw celebrities that evening which includes Jericho Rosales, Franco Laurel, Tweetie De Leon, Maxine Medina and Jennifer Hammond.

We also saw Camille Pratts, Isabel Oli and their kids who also endorses PLDT.

Spotted Vic Sotto with soon to be Mom Pauline Luna Sotto who endorses SUN Cellular.

Vic Sotto went to the center of the room and was a little quirky, he says "I'm glad and honored that I'm part of the SUN family because I play Candy Crush lol. I use data, and this relaunch means it's not just voice calls and texting, but means a LOT of people will be using data. I lurk in Instagram, even if I don't post, I see people. We have condo units that don't have this yet but we're moving, and we have people experience FIBR and stay happy about it. In BGC, we have mostly all residential buildings now FIBR ready so if you live here, you're lucky! You should all be on PLDT Home tomorrow, also be connected with our streaming sites tonight. ROKU is also now available, so there's no reason why you're not enjoying our services. We want all our 2 Million homes to transfer from DSL to FIBR because there's a LOT to enjoy from this faster connection."

Ms. Kris Aquino then was introduced, she told us about how she maintains a smart home and utilize PLDT Home FIBR and LTE when she's mobile saying "Let's all admit it, traffic is terrible. I checked who is watching me and most of them are millenials and they watch me through phones. Connections have improved so much and they watch me through mobile these days and LTE doesn't buffer on me. I also love the roaming charges because it's 499 a day. The other network charges more, so you see why they got me? Haha. We need to be connected. Thank you to PLDT and Smart for making us all connected. You are the first company to invest in iFlix so I'm going there too. PLDT is an innovator, we have to give them that!"

Kris Aquino Joins iFlix Family

I love Kris Aquino, sure she had her bouts with drama about love and family, but we all know she's not perfect. She's human just like the rest of us. I don't know her personally but with what I've seen and experienced these past few weeks, she's a nice person and I really don't like the nasty comments she's getting online. She's a strong woman, like a bull, and no matter how much wrong things people do to her, I applaud her for still staying classy despite of all the judgement thrown at her.Her success, is seen worldwide.

With her upcoming controversial inclusion in the Hollywood film about Crazy Rich Asians, it would put her on a pedestal once again and we would only get to marvel at how all these opportunities have presented themselves despite her real crazy life. She's also an entrepreneur, making sure her fame and fortune would be put to good use. Aside from her franchises of Nacho Bimby, and tons of other businesses she's had in the past, she's now joining the iFlix family, a successful online streaming platform that was once dubbed a crazy idea but is now number 1 in emerging markets like the Philippines. She knows why.

The iFlix family probably felt it was but right to make this a super big announcement, to have the honor of having the Queen of All Media Ms. Kris Aquino in their roster of endorsers, and boy did they deliver.
