Rosanna Roces' Colorful Past Revealed in Maddox Jewelry Visit

Known for being a feisty, experienced and gorgeous actress til today, Rosanna Roces' name still resonates to every Juan. Her stints in shows, series on TV and film made a mark and her personality shines when she talks, it can get as real as it can get.

She was trying to look for a place when she saw the Maddox Jewelry shop in Marikina City. Because she loves jewelry so much, she ended up going in and buying a few pieces, then met the equally beautiful owner Ms. Charo Cordial. 

Their conversation became very personal and went to her traumatic past, she found out she was given up for adoption for a mere Php 4,500. She only found out when she was already 15 after seeing a contract with the name of her biological mother in it. Admittedly, she got hurt but said she will always treat her adoptive mother her real one, someone she looked up to ever since. She also talked about her rift with comedy queen Ai-ai delas Alas whom she treated as a good friend, but ended up fighting over small things, then a half baked apology which even worsened the case. 

It all changed when they had to appear in one show. She went in to Ai-ai's dressing room one day and didn't even think about drama or confrontation. They immediately laughed it off like nothing happened. Imagine, they didn't talk to each other for 20 years and it all ended in one day. That's when they figured how time heals all wounds.

Cherry Pie Picache Shocked About Her Jewelry Pieces As Seen by Ms. Charo Cordial and MADDOX JEWELRY

Talented actress Ms. Cherry Pie Picache got the shock of her life when she visited the MADDOX JEWELRY branch in Marikina City. She brought an heirloom set which she had kept for years. She's been in the industry for a while now and bought it while she was working, and wanted to keep it as an investment too. During that time, she thought it was made of natural diamonds (sans certificate), and trusted the person. While waiting, she went around the place and looked at other pieces and said OMG on those that she loved. She believes in wearing them, enjoying them and not just keeping them in boxes. She's also okay in selling them.

After a few minutes, the results of the test they did for the set came in. They found out that the well kept set was 18 karat gold, but the stones were all moissanite, she almost fell off her seat. She was clearly duped, and felt really sad about it. 

They also talked about her lengthy career in showbiz and her relationship with actor Edu Manzano, where she divulged an amicable decision to part ways. Everything was mutual. She also shared how one should always be always sure in choosing jewelry or the love of your life. MADDOX Holds Iconic DIAMOND Fashion Show: Learn From the Founder's Humble Beginnings

When I heard from the grapevine that Ms. Charo Cordial was holding a fashion show in posh EDSA Shangri-la, it would be epic. She sought the best fashion show director there is Robby Carmona, and a list of celebrities unprecedented, all of whom have been part of the growth of her diamond jewelry brand MADDOX.

Her success didn't come overnight, and we were treated to a very lovely interview and got to understand her humble beginnings. Imagine doing business during the pandemic, changing business models because of necessity, like fate and achieve success that she couldn't even imagine. She attributes this all from the people around her, who helped her with the business and also the clients who have given over and beyond the love for diamonds. 

Ms. Charo says "We are holding this fashion show to make sure Filipinos know that diamonds can be affordable, we have small margins but hope the Philippines becomes well known in the industry as a mecca for it. I'm so happy that even in international trade, they now know we love them and appreciate jewelry. I used to sell agricultural machinery, and people didn't know I'd land in this industry. I am a Bicolana, born and educated there. I went here for the board exam and worked for an international company. I only started selling jewelry during the pandemic. I sold bags, and it was so fun to talk to people. It was hard to ship them, so I looked for other things to sell and started with gold. Then diamonds later on. Maddox came from my son's name, named after Angelina Jolie's first born. Now people know us by that name. I am super happy, I didn't dream of this but talking to you now, I still can't believe it. I am so blessed, I could attribute it to my employees and friends, the people around me who helped me reach this."

She adds "Last year while doing vlogs, they had celebrity customers who also went to their shop. There's a lot of them, so you'll see them all at the show. The idea was made by Robbie Carmona, and icons are involved so you will see them all in different segments."

 

One pretty thing I learned from Ms. Charo was something she said before we went to see the show. She said "You have to love what you are doing, your employees, your customers and give them what they want. Don't be afraid to make mistakes, we all do, I also went bankrupt, in a different business, but I never gave up. It would have been nice to have a lot of artists here but it was hard to manage their schedules."
