How to Look Professional

Friday, February 18, 2011

Branding this site needed a lot of things and one of them is handling images to represent it; and also the things I planned to write about. I found my niche after a few years and to tell you honestly I'm still not happy on the COW theme going on my site. No matter how I desperately try to make things a little professional looking it comes to a point where the cute and adorable still come in. I know how long I have been staying with it (probably since 2002 or earlier than that) and I have been contemplating on changing this integral part of the web site. There are several great institutions like LOGO MOJO that does this professionally and I am weighing my options. If I come to perfect my logo design then the rest would just follow. It's one of the things that I'm trying to accomplish before the year ends. I know that is a long time but it's nice to start early eh?!

If that pushes through I might need to change the site template too. That is going to be another story. I love of having the idea of going ultra modern and professional looking. How in the world would a cow do that? I don't have any idea but I must say that I have already survived the trials and struggles of maintaining this for the past few years. How could I go wrong? I know I can do this!

Perfect Branding Ideas

Thursday, December 23, 2010

This weekend was really a good one for me. I had time to create new business cards for my site, my photography business and my day job. I've got an alter ego to say the least but I had to keep it that way so I would stay organized. It may look like I have 3 personalities but the clientele is different. I seldom have people who need services that overlap with them but if ever I do I try to still see if they would lean towards one or the other. I don't actually have that much thought put into the company name for the photography business nor have I made a logo for it but I'm trying my best to still represent a brand with just the name. This reminds me... I think it would be better to have my own Custom Logo Design now that I'm gearing towards making this an official brand.

My idea of still having the word "light" on it stays to pay homage to my Masters. I've been lucky that I was taught by the best in the industry. I have this certain notion of having my brand to be at par with what they have been doing in the fashion photography industry and I'm killing most of my shots because of it. I only want to release those which pass my standards and I won't second guess myself this time like when I initially used to a few months back. It was really hard to tell you the truth; but if I'm going to do this and do justice to what they have taught me I have to play the right game. I want to be represented with a brand that would stand out from the crowd. I want to be more than the usual. I want it modern and unique but I have to make sure it represents me and my work well. Maybe institutions like LOGOMOJO can do the deed; I'll try and see if they can help me.

What do you think I should call this then?! Do you have any suggestions?!

To Buy or Not to Buy

Tuesday, January 05, 2010

I never knew it was going to be hard to make a choice about the property we were planning to buy somewhere south of Manila. It seems that I have a few questions to ask first before purchasing it for my family and I would not want to get my money spent on worthless ones so I took a short trip yesterday and checked the village out. It was a parcel of land spanning the right part of the road where there are a couple of Pineapple plantations. It was a nice place although I was a little dumbfounded why they did not have a sign of some sort in front of the actual village. The real estate company did not have a corporate office and they were just situated on a vacant lot that had three tables and a couple of assistants to man the stations. It seemed to me that they were just fly-by-night corporations but since I was there for a specific reason, I went ahead and asked about it.

The lot that I was trying to buy was very near the pool, the church and the club house that they plan to put up. They are still unfinished so I did ask if they have an estimate when the amenities are going to be accessible but apparently they are clueless. I know they were from one of the premier real estate companies in the metro but it was really not that appealing anymore. They did not even have Real Estate Logos which made them really look unprofessional. I think they need to fix things first before I am going to be convinced to pay for it. I however was impressed with the model house that they showed us. It was the ideal three story house with a large garden outside and a parking space that could fit around 2 vehicles. I know this is going to be expensive if we were on the other side of the road because that part had a view overlooking a world renowned volcano. If only they make things better this would have been an easy decision. Now I'll ask you guys, to buy or not to buy?!
