You'll Have Fun at Camp N in Nuvali

Tuesday, November 01, 2016

Do you think you have friends who still don't know how to ride a bike? Or you perhaps? Or are you the person who can ride a bike and don't know how to do mountains, trails and stuff like that? Well, here's the thing, CAMP N in Nuvali in Sta. Rosa Laguna now has a new facility designed just for people like you. CAMP N is now doing programs for NON BIKERS, Cross Country/Mountain Bike beginners, because they want you to learn MORE especially if you are 7 years and up!

What's even great is that they have experts to train you, they also have trails where you can test your skill if it's enough to survive the outside world. I feel so invigorated while being there in midst of nature, the trees, the grass, the birds without the bees. It was a way to connect with nature and we're not even doing that these days in the city. Camp N is just a few hours away from Manila, and biking as never been so fun! Did you know I love it that much that I learned to ride a bike when I was 4 years old? I think we need to do this more often, and have some fun. Now those who can't ride a bike, don't have an excuse anymore. Get your family and friends go too. I had fun!

Amaia Holds Upcycling Challenge In Nuvali

Monday, November 02, 2015

I had my bets early on and guess who won the competition! :)

We have already made huge waves in recycling but Amaia is doing it better buy having an Upcycling challenge in Sta. Rosa's Nuvali property. It's owned by the Ayala's. Upcycling basically means you have to make it worth more than what it seems. Contestants were given Php 3,000 for materials and they have to make something that is worth more than what they had, ultimately to produce something that would personify Amaia Steps Parkway and how simple it is to live and thrive in an environmentally responsible community. They all made these in 24 hours and the only thing they would need to include in the mix is softdrink pet bottles.

Here's what happened during that weekend:

AMAIA STEPS PARKWAY UPCYCLE by kumagcow

Congratulations to the winners "The Illuminant"! I hope I could get to join this soon. The champion won Php 100,000 which was really big! They could start their small business after that!

Nuvali's Greenstallations!

Thursday, August 08, 2013

This weekend was a little adventurous as we chose to head down south to experience Nuvali once again. I've been indulging in art since my Cebu trip and this one's quite the same. It's not just pieces though because we're talking about world class artists on this one.

Manila's art scene was in attendance

We were also provided with this ensemble of tribal music. I must say when they picked up the nose flute we were all in a trance!

We were so honored to be in the presence of 4 great artists namely Mr. Mario Mallari Jr. (a scrap metal - eco artist), Architect Juan Carlo Calma (internationally acclaimed Architect/Interior Designer/Visual Artist) , 1996 TOYM Awardee Michael Cacnio (known for his intricate themed brass sculptures), and Eduardo Castrillo whose works include the several huge monuments in Ayala plus the People Power Monument along EDSA. I specifically like the words of Eduardo Castrillo when he talked about how this project came about when they approached him to make the sculpture. He didn't believe in competitions because it inhibits the creativity of artists so this was something of a good thing for him, more so the green responsibilities and theme that came with it. The other artists were really just elated that they get to be in the midst of people in this caliber. They have probably seen their work too.

Then they started to unveil the pieces they made for NUVALI, they call it GREENSTALLATIONS!

A toast from executives of Ayala Land, Ayala Museum, Nuvali and the artists themselves made this official. We also went to each sculpture, and got a few photos of these huge pieces. All works from the masters!

Now more than ever NUVALI will be doing something great not just with the environment but with CULTURE itself with these iconic sculptures. The majestic space will not only benefit the residents, the community and people in NUVALI but will make Filipino art known to the country, and soon the world! Each piece depicting an artist's interpretation of evoliving, something that even other countries have taken notice. It was even featured on CNN a few months ago.

World class NUVALI now has world class artwork on the grounds of their 1,860 hectare property in Laguna. It will be nurturing generations to come. From Sports, Business, Nature and Culture, they've got it covered. Congratulations to the artists, Nuvali for getting this world class artwork for Filipinos and non Filipinos around the world to enjoy!

NUVALI's Dirt Weekend Invitational!

Saturday, April 27, 2013

I'm so excited to hear news about Nuvali. This was just announced last Saturday and boy oh boy people are flocking all the way to the south just to get a load of this!

Well, if it was fun on this Dirtbike Weekend that I witnessed last year... it's even going to be MORE serious this year as they will have a Dirt Week Invitational where competitors from all over the Philippines, our national teams and even our neighbors from the Southeast Asian region will compete and vie for recognition by the UCI; because as you register, it will include the membership to Philcycling (the national federation).Upon securing the license, you can join the sanctioned race in this cycling spectacle!

All the tracks, registration and the other events this year have been organized by these individuals in coordination with national sports agencies as this will be also observed by Union Cycliste Internationale. This event in November will comprise of Cross Country (XCO/XCR) and Four Cross events. In the meantime, from April 26 to 28, they will still hold a local Dirt Weekend. You should get your gears and sample the almost 2000 hectares of land that Nuvali has and enjoy what true evo living is all about courtesy of Ayala Land.

Invited local squads like Bikeworkx, Sabak, Potato Corner, Yellow Cab, KTM, John Wilkie, EXO, Cycleine of Mindanao and Prima/Isuzu D-Max will be there to give the rest of the competitors a run for their posts. Even some slots will be actually given to lucky ones if they get to beat members from the national team according to their Chairman. So this means if there are going to be remarkable cyclists that can beat the ones from the pool, they can be fully sponsored by the government after this. Who wouldn't be challenged by that? =) It's an official SEA Games qualifier!

For more outdoor fun, make NUVALI your next destination and make sure you will be there on November and this weekend for more action down south!

Saludo: A Concert For Heroes at Nuvali

Thursday, December 06, 2012

I love the song Hero by Mariah Carey... "There's a hero, if you look inside your heart. You don't have to be afraid of what you are. ". When you think about it, anyone can be a hero these days. How? That's easy... I went to Nuvali a few days ago, I got schooled on how an ordinary citizen like you and me could be the HERO we always dream of!

This is SALUDO - A Concert For Heroes. The HERO Foundation in cooperation with Ayala Corporation and NUVALI just had one epic night of giving thanks to those who have helped earn money for those who are left behind by our heroes... the soldiers. They have been fighting local conflicts for ages and when they get injured or couldn't get out of war alive, their families suffer too. This is why they've set up a scholarship fund for the dependents of these soldiers who also deserve to have a better future like you and me.

Who's performing? Well we've got first dibs on that so we saw these gorgeous men from 6CycleMind.

Honestly, I've only seen them perform 5 times and they grew on me. They are spectacular performers!

There's also the gorgeous Iya Villana. I didn't know she did things I've never even dreamed of LOL I'll fill you in on that later!

They all support HERO FOUNDATION INC. which can be found at www.herofoundation.com.ph. There are several ways you can support them but with any amount you can actually donate it with them and make yourself a useful part of society... and even now a full pledged HERO! How? Each amount you send them would actually go to the scholarship of these kids who need it to spend for their education. They need to eat, they need to sleep somewhere so the costs of living are really high in any part of the country. They would be able to help these sons and daughters of soldiers and have them be part of the program so they would be better members of this society. Maybe later on they can become soldiers too. They have been overwhelmed about response overseas but really they need more help so they can send more kids to school. It's difficult to define a hero, but without the need to sacrifice it pretty much says something about you becoming a hero for these kids too. That easy!

Some of their board members and executives were present and said a few words explaining the cause. They also got the kids in the concert. Quite an admirable job they are doing for these orphans/beneficiaries.

The kids know how much your help means to them. They thanked the crowd quite beautifully we almost cried.

Governor ER Ejercito also graced the program. Then after that they gave him a symbolic pin for the help he's been extending to the cause.

This is really a very noble cause. So if you would like to help just head on to their site and there are tons of ways to help. You just have to.

Then after that, we were treated with 6CycleMind's music!

What a way to thank people for helping these kids go to school. These guys as I said are awesome performers. I love them!

Since they were almost all singers, Iya wanted to up the ante and got to do this awesome dance number. Yes ladies and gentlemen, she was in the air!

Now I didn't know Iya could do this. It was awesome I thought we were watching something from an international circus!

Then we also had our ears treated to some great music from the one and only NINA!

I'm so glad we live in this country where worldclass talents just flourish from every corner. Nina is just awesome! She sang a lot from her unplugged album. We were all so mezmerized!

Then one of my rock gods just appeared!

It was one awesome night. It was one awesome cause. I'm sure if we do our part to help these kids in some small way we can, it'll go a long way. So please, if you can contribute anything it'll be these kids that would benefit from it.

Bamboo said it was indeed an honor to perform in front of these kids and their families. He said it was doubly nice to know that he was able to help in a way that he can. He's also so nice to talk to. He's going to take a break for a while to spend more time with his family and friends. He's also writing more songs so we can expect a lot from him soon. Thank you Bamboo for letting us talk to you on this occasion. Now all we have to do now is find a way to help the HERO FOUNDATION INC. help some kids get their scholarships. When they graduate, we'll have a grand time realizing that we were part of their struggle... we were there to help and be their heroes.

Please help if you can
