In Tune For Education: Red Ribbon, Apl.de.Ap Foundation and Franklin Baker Company's Macaroons For A Cause!

Friday, July 12, 2013

Macaroons. One of my favorite desserts in the whole world! I've been seeing some of these in the shelves of my favorite bakeshop Red Ribbon. I never knew it would mean a lot for other people. I never knew it would mean a lot for the education of young Filipino kids in places like Zamboanga, the whole of Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao... especially Metro Manila where the population explosion has greatly affected how we live life. Little did we know, these Macaroons would be part of the solution.

Mom to cute Cooper, host and radio DJ Delamar Arias knows first hand why education is important. There was a Manobo native who wished to study, ventured out to Manila and worked hard to earn a diploma. It was hard to do this in Mindanao because of the lack of opportunities. It was also unheard for to do this in that region. He succeeded, had a family and 5 kids. One of those kids is Delle. She wouldn't be where she is now without her Dad doing this in the first place. That opportunity should be available to every Filipino, but it's not. Red Ribbon, Apl.de.Ap Foundation and Franklin Baker Company made head way and got the best thing to benefit kids. They will build more schools starting in southern Philippines. It should start making their lives better.

Red Ribbon's executives find this as an important synergy of companies, individuals and organizations who wanted change. They wanted to pull up their resources and make this a project that could sufficiently do it for a long time. That's where they decided that whenever someone purchases Macaroons from their bakeshop, a portion of it goes to funding the Apl.de.Ap Foundation's projects which builds schools in some of the most remote places in the country.

The Franklin Baker Corporation supplies the luscious dessicated coconut that is found in all of Red Ribbon macaroons. Their world class products not only appear in Red Ribbon but also other companies around the world. This particular cause didn't escape their radar and they see this as an opportunity to give back to the community. She might look foreign to you guys but her Mom is actually Filipina. She takes pride in this lineage and knows she wants to get back and help the same people and country where her Mom came from. A noble gesture indeed.

We all know Apl de Ap. Aside from being one of the Black Eyed Peas, he's an inspiration to us Filipinos. He was born and raised here and had a very colorful life.

Seeing him talk so passionately about his cause and saw his hunger to help the less fortunate. It has touched me in so many ways. He wants to help. Through this cause, a part of the purchase of these Macaroons will go to Apl de Ap Foundation which will build schools and provide education in some of the most remote areas in the country. He appreciates the help of both Red Ribbon and Franklin Baker but the real job starts now. We must ask our friends, relatives and other individuals to get these special Macaroons so we can continue to build more as the years come. They are spearheading this project called Macaroons for a cause. These guys need your help. The next time you visit a Red Ribbon branch, make sure you grab one of these bags so you can do your share in alleviating poverty and give the right of education for our less fortunate kababayans. It's our time to care!
