Daphne OseƱa-Paez Does RECREATE on Cignal TV

Monday, May 24, 2021

photo from daphne.ph

I've known Ms. Daphne Osena-Paez for the longest time. Like you, I've watched her on several ABSCBN travel and lifestyle shows, F, Urban Zone, and tons more. She's a celebrity, yes, but she's very humble, family oriented (best Mom of her 3 girls!), a real stalwart of newborn health and a very hard working UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. She's one of the bloggers I look up to (even if she ain't updating the site for quite a while), you can say I like everything about her and meeting her a few years ago while covering events was a surreal moment for me (I'm a fan boy yes, a proud one at that!).

Well, two days ago (May 22) they just premiered a new show called Recreate over at One News Channel on CignalTV. It's a lifestyle-public affairs oriented show that features artists from different fields. It will also talk about creative structures, spaces, design and how these people continued to thrive during the pandemic. Ms. Daphne shares "We called the show Recreate to capture the spirit of the creativity that drives people, communities, and places to adapt to change. I'm very excited about this! I'm sure you'll love the stories of how artists, creators and thinkers have used their talents and interests to adapt to what's happening now and in the future."

The first episode featured artisans from Betis, Pampanga who has made an industry on wood carving. Furniture, religious images, and the people made the place famous for it - and their talents were just amazing! I've been in that same place, even the church was something people around the world would marvel about. The second one will highlight the new art deco icon in Manila (a theater) which has yet to be opened. The future episodes will involve internationally renowned designers and directors who have made strides even during the coronavirus epidemic.

Recreate shows at 6:30PM every Saturday only on One News Channel which can be seen on Cignal TV CH 250 HD and CH 8 SD. You can also see it on Cignal Play which you can download off Google Play. It'll be so good to hear from the artists themselves, and of course, who wouldn't love to see their work!

Lazada and UNICEF To Help Children this Holiday Season

Tuesday, November 06, 2018

The 11.11 Shopping Festival of Lazada is near and with good reason, they are helping UNICEF by creating their own store to prioritize yhd welfare of Filipino children. From November 11 until December 31, 2018 they will be selling off inspiring gifts, backpacks, hygiene kits, emergency supplies so they can also help generate 1 Million pesos for the benefit of UNICEF. Also, for one day Unilever products will be sold for that cause (on November 20). UNICEF works on donations and buying things will help the programs that are ongoing every year and when in emergencies.

As you know lack of access to education, water and hygiene is so common especially in the most rural parts of the country.

Ms Daphne OseƱa says “I am involved on ground so I go to communities that the organization helps. Going out to shop in this traffic is not practical so I always browse Lazada and compare prices ever since I knew about it. The awareness is there, we have generated funds through our website and our online fundraising channels. You will see the gifts and your product beside it, when you purchase, the actual backpack will go to kids in need. Having online channels is important, half of funds where people can help makes a difference. We have all been victims of emergencies, we always have to be prepared so I advocate fund raisers and breastfeeding.”

Ray Alimurung the Lazada PH CEO adds “This is in line with our vision to help, it is an innovative partnership so we can help improve lives of so many kids.”

If you also want to help through UNICEF you may call Dennis Cruz 09178616289. If you want to see the one in Lazada, download the app on Google Play or the App Store.

UNICEF Launches #ChildrenFirstStoryBooks with Anne Curtis

Friday, February 19, 2016

We were in SM North - The Block earlier to witness the launch of UNICEF's Children First Story Books. It's a project very close to the heart of Anne Curtis, one of UNICEF's Child Ambassador. The proceeds of the sales of these books will actually go to their fund and in turn help a lot of kids form the habit of reading which is crucial for today's generation to succeed. I'm a voracious reader, so this also hits close to home. I wouldn't want my kids to just spend all day in front of the TV, tablets or computers alone (hypothetically having kids I mean) so it would be a good thing for them to have something tangible every once in a while. I remember having these kinds of books in the past that taught kids not just to read, but learn a thing or two about good manners, courage, the concept of beauty, and the good values Filipinos should never lose.

Aside from Filipino children benefiting from reading, UNICEF takes care of the rights of the child. So if you're going to get the set, you're also helping them in efforts to eradicate poverty, educate more kids, and protect the civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights that every child should have. Anne also adds that the books would also entail the kids to have a sense of imagination, and could learn a thing or two about life lessons. She also believes that kids should have emotional and moral support that they need in order to grow. They can also learn to express themselves better if they get the confidence they need (as she talks about her book Anita the Duckling Diva).

UNICEF will also have the illustrations on all these books displayed on SM The Block's 3rd level until the 25th of February. Some of the patrons also had the opportunity to have their books signed by the authors and illustrators earlier. You can visit www.unicef.ph to know more on how you can help and get these children's books too. It only costs a mere Php 500 for 6 of them, plus you can also help their cause. That's a good deal right there.

UNICEF: Auction for Action

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

Guys and gals; this week, God has been really good to me. I get to help people with what I do and it is somehow, in someway very fulfilling. This is another one so if you can or know some people who would want to help through this event, please do.

On May 25, 2011 there will be a charity auction of these great works of art! All of these are made by the best of the best Philippine design world and they all wanted to help raise funds for UNICEF. They have been helping mothers and kids for a long time now and they need our help. Ms. Daphne Osena - Paez of http://daphneosena.livejournal.com/ is heading this cause. She's also the Auction for action Founder and host for the event. Please make sure you bookmark this URL www.ebay.ph/unicef which will go live on May 25. The auction is open to everyone from anywhere in the world.

If you want to know what's up for auction, here's some of them.

“the response from artists has been very encouraging, to say the least. It feels incredible to be able to work with such prominent artists for a worthwhile cause. I’m a great fan of
their work, but now I’m in even greater awe of their kindness and generosity. They put a lot of love and devote a lot of time into everything they create, so I know that beyond the beautiful art piece, the artists are really sharing a part of themselves with UNICEF.“ -Daphne Osena-Paez

Make sure you participate in this auction okay? I'm also counting on the readers that I have in the US, please help!
