DenJen Movie "Everything About My Wife" Touches on 7 Year Itch, Marriage and Deceit

Thursday, February 27, 2025

I've seen the Korean film which this was based from (All About My Wife, 2012), but felt even if this may have been based on that... this Filipino romcom movie carries its own weight. This adaptation Everything About My Wife by Director Real Florido takes on a whole Filipino premise, and talks about that 7 year itch that a lot of married couples go through. Dennis Trillo and Jennylyn Mercado play a couple named Dominic Brizuela and Imogen Karuhatan (Dom and Imo). Also in the film is real life cassanova Sam Milby who did absolutely amazing in this story of love, getting tired of it, relationships, and trust.

For starters, it's not a full on romcom because much of the scenes felt like a drama, something that both Dennis and Jennylyn would know like the back of their hand. It's a slow burn, but the elements are there, something that you would probably enjoy because those fun DenJen moments you see on social media will have a LOT of it in this film. It's their personal touch, which I'm sure you'll all adore when you get to see this in the silver screen.

Also in the film are the fun characters of Carmi Martin and Ms. Nova Villa. There's small pockets of situational comedy which you'll enjoy in Everything About My Wife. You'll get most of it with Dennis Trillo's character, and you'll never see sunflowers the same because of it. Joyang is also fun to see, she's got that spunk even if she's a newbie in PH cinema.

Much of the first half of it will involve them establishing the issues they are encountering, like being tired of the partners, and how they approached it with another problem, like seduction and connivance. It may feel slow, but bear with it. It's going to get better, funnier and more interesting in the second half. I'd give this 8.5/10 cows 🐮ྀི🐮ྀི🐮ྀི🐮ྀི🐮ྀི🐮ྀི🐮ྀི🐮ྀི

This is already showing on theaters, so if you're planning to have a fun day with your family and friends, who are fans of Dennis, Jennylyn and Sam, you should definitely watch this. This is produced by GMA Films and CreaZion Studios.

Green Bones Tops MMFF 2024 Awardees: Now Shows in Over 180 Cinemas

Friday, January 03, 2025

Green Bones unfurled a few surprise wins in the recent Metro Manila Film Festival 2024 Gabi ng Parangal (Awards Night) which happened last December 27th hosted by the folks from the Metro Manila Development Authority. They won the festival's coveted BEST PICTURE Award amongst 10 entries including the Best Actor award for Dennis Trillo, Best Supporting Actor for Ruru Madrid, Best Child Performer for Sienna Stevens, Best Screenplay for National Artist Ricky Lee and Angeli Atienza, Best Cinematography by Neil Daza and the nod of critics. The night's award ceremony was witnessed by GMA Network's Senior Vice President and GMA Films President Ms. Anette Gozon-Valdes. She describes the win as a great show of their efforts, risks, to ultimately tell the story in hopes of people loving the story, in its wonderful and outstanding depiction.

This is the vision of GMA Picture's Executive Vice President Nessa Valdellon. They wanted to make sure that the movie would become a vessel to showcase the amount of talent their artists have, and no doubt Dennis Trillo, Ruru Madrid gave their all.  Critics likewise saw how production took risks, and lauded how Director Zig Dulay made sure it be at par or even better than last year's successful entry "Firefly" which got rave reviews and top awards  too. Dennis' portrayal of Dom Zamora had complexity, Ruru on the other hand did Xavier Gonzaga - who's a very colorful character, who wouldn't want to fall or have a change of heart with criminals like Dom in the film. MMFF also took notice of Sienna Stevens, got her the Best Child Performer trophy, and nominations for talented actors Royce Cabrera and our guy Mikoy Morales who had their moments in the film. If you haven't watched it yet, just be warned I've seen fully grown men who had a bout of crying in the cinema, a handy work of Ricky Lee and his excellent screenwriting no doubt. Go watch this touching, but now, well decorated film that's been lauded by movie goers during the festival. You'll be surprised how emotional it will get in the end, and see why Green Bones took accolades this year.

Restored and Remastered JOSE RIZAL Released by GMA Pictures

Monday, August 12, 2024

I've watched this film a couple of times and seeing the efforts of GMA Pictures, I'm impressed about what I saw during the screening at the Manila Metropolitan Theater. This is the newly restored and remastered JOSE RIZAL.

This is a masterpiece by Director Marilou Diaz Abaya. Picking up a physical film reel and seeing it damaged through use, time and the elements must have GMA feel it needs to be taken cared of. This took them a total of 1600 hours to do to fix the missing frames, burn marks, take off the dirt and run a new audio (5.1 Stereo) so we could now have an immersive version of this heavily awarded film which was shown at MMFF in 2018. This stars Cesar Montano, Jhong Hilario, Joel Torre, Jaime Fabregas, Pen Medina, Gardo Versoza, Gloria Diaz, Mon Confiado, Chin Chin Gutierrez, Micky Ferriols, Ronnie Lazaro, Irma Adlawan, Tony Mabesa, Nanding Josef, Joel Lamangan, Ping Medina, and a stellar cast.

Restoring this film means a lot of things, it will be in digital form from hereon and would be possible to show to future generations who choose to see what it was like in previous generations. I was also touched at how National Artist Ricky Lee, Marc Abaya (son of Director Marilou Diaz Abaya) felt during their speech, and how much importance was given to the film and for the people behind it. The stars were also at the event during Cinemalaya, and they were all smiles after the screening. The kind of life we have would certainly be changed with even more films planned to be restored. Imagine the things people could learn by watching historical films, or even the film making process. Congratulations to GMA for doing this good deed. It's all worth it!

Michael V for Family History

Friday, May 24, 2019

One just not question Michael V’s genius. His humor and brand of comedy has spanned several years in different channels, different shows and just about every hilarious music video they’ve made since the 90’s. This year, we all got word that he’s working with GMA Pictures and his own outfit called Mic Test Entertainment Inc. as creator and lead actor in a movie called FAMILY HISTORY. In a story conference a few months back, we learned that other stars like Dawn Zulueta, Paulo Contis, Bianca Umali, Miguel Tanfelix, Nonie Buencamino, Kakai Bautista, Ina Feleo, Mikoy Morales, Vince Gamad, Jemwell Ventenilla and Nikki Co also joined in the cast.

The big ensemble seem to be essential to the story and with how has been able to do great work in the past few years, he’s bound to do something even greater this coming July so expect a masterpiece to appear this mid 2019. This is also the first time where Ms. Dawn Zulueta and Michael V will be teamed up on screen but I bid these seasoned actors won’t find anything hard to do especially because they’ve done comedy in past projects already.

I can’t wait to see more of this when they start showing the film in theaters nationwide and perhaps on digital streaming sites too. This isn’t the first time Michael V has directed something because most of the legwork and comedy in Bubble Gang is credited to him. I wouldn’t be surprised if people would want to watch something fun from Bitoy!

Stay tuned on GMA’s social media properties because it’s also going to be teased on these channels. This is going to be fun, we can’t wait!

Kris Bernal's Birthday and Charity Event

Friday, May 31, 2013

You guys probably know by now that I meet celebrities quite often. I am so lucky though that they have all been so nice to me especially this one who particularly has a spot in my heart. I met her way back 2010 when Coca Cola launched the giant Christmas Tree in Araneta and together with other Kapuso stars, she represented her channel well. Full of positive demeanor, she has always put a smile on her face ready to meet her fans and supporters even if she's tired already. She even performed later on in the evening but you wouldn't see her complain. She feels so blessed and lucky and so a few days ago I was invited to take part in her charity event. It was her birthday too so even if I had some things to do in the office, I still made it a point to come.

The last time I saw her again was in Philippine Fashion Week when they walked the ramp with other Bench endorsers. I can even remember what she wore that day. Though on this instance she isn't doing work, but she saw the "off time" as an opportunity to celebrate her birthday with causes she actually believes in. This charity event was held at the Manila Girls Town, a facility in Marikina. We celebrated mass first to thank God for everything first. Then a party ensued so she could entertain and give back to the needy female kids that are brought to this shelter. Kris Bernal's Mom was even at the event, not as a spectator but a really hands on volunteer. She made sure everything was in place so the kids and the guests didn't have anything to worry about. Bless her.

The kids danced, sang and played games to the delight of the other kids who also attended this charity event. I had to blur some photos for obvious reasons, these kids are minors. If you only knew their stories you wouldn't hesitate going there too and give them help. They are either abandoned, abused, or street kids that are from the slums of Manila; and they are brought to this shelter if City Hall or the courts feel they would be better off here. Thanks to the volunteers, Moms and other social workers who take their time attending to the needs of these kids. There were more on the other buildings but we only give what we can of course.

Thanks to Kris Bernal's sponsors, Krispers, Alab, Alkris, Aljur-Kris fans etc. because they didn't hesitate to lend a hand; they feel these kids deserve care just like the rest of us who still have our families. From food, cakes, drinks, clothes, personal care items, they chipped in on this charity event. Kris was so thankful for their generosity and hope this isn't the last.

It was hot and humid that day but she didn't even complain. She made us all feel why she's been doing this for years now. She always said that this was her way of giving back to people that have supported her through the years. She's also thankful that people have become so supportive of her cause that a repeat is inevitable. GMA Artist Center is really doing something good. They have been exposing their talents to things like these and Kris Bernal is one of the few who have been spearheading charities in their station. It's something close to her heart and she feels so good that people have been very receptive. Her shows in GMA are still coming but she wouldn't stop taking time out for these kids because she feels this is one of the few ways they could contribute to the community. She's really a good soul imho, I've seen that in her since the day I've gottten to meet her. I hope there would be more GMA stars who would follow suit. I'm sure there is, we just have to take that extra step to help.

Thanks to GMA Artist Center and Kris Bernal for letting us tag along. People should really learn from this experience. I'm sharing this story so you could start sharing too. Great things start from small beginnings as they say. :) Happy Birthday and Thank You Kris!

An Afternoon with Richard Gutierrez and Marian Rivera: My Lady Boss

Monday, February 11, 2013

Have you ever experienced that time when you just get pissed at someone because they meddle too much at work or at school? Don't you just want to quit but you can't because you kinda need it too? Did you ever had that time where you wanted to just do a task but you had to work with someone you really really don't like? You have gambled too much in businesses but failed and needed to work, but the person you needed to work with is someone you also wanted to hate; then end up really liking her because she's so beautiful? Oh... is that what it's all about?! =)

A good looking Richard Gutierrez sat down with us a week ago and started to tell us about his character in this upcoming film My Lady Boss. He says it has been eagerly awaited by fans and he knows it should have been done years ago but it has been put aside because of other pressing shows that he had to do. He also told the press that this should have been his directorial project because he also wanted to work behind the camera. He was so happy to have been able to work with the one and only Marian Rivera on this project. Their previous one did really well in the box office and he didn't know why it took this long for them to team up again. In this film he plays the role of Zack, a rich guy who hails from a good family of businessmen. He wanted to be a very independent so he sought to always put up businesses but unfortunately he always fails. Then he gets to start off on a clean slate one last time by working with Marian Rivera's character Evelyn in the movie. He wanted this to be his legacy but it has proven to be very difficult because Evelyn won't go down to his standards..

If she wants to, she can change personalities to fit the role she's playing. Talented and so beautiful in person, Marian Rivera was someone I never thought I would meet in this lifetime. She's not that tall but oozing with confidence. She was shouting at the press like she missed them for so long, she treated everyone like long lost friends. She even mentioned specific articles that they wrote because it looks like Marian reads it. It was definitely something that I would never expect from her; she was down to earth and even very playful at times.

She says she was so glad to have had the chance to work with Richard and had the same sentiments about them not having a project together since their last one. Marian says Richard was a gentleman, never took advantage of her nor was she given too hard of a task in getting comfortable with him. When I asked about their first impressions with each other Marian thought Richard was "Mayabang and matapobre" but it turned out quite the opposite of that because right from the first day she was spoiled by Richard. No, actually the whole cast and crew was spoiled with Richard as she was often asked what she wants to eat or how comfortable she is the whole time of the shoot.Richard she says is naturally sweet and this reunion of their team up after years of planning has been something they look forward to. Now that they have the schedule and time to work on this movie, they assure viewers that My Lady Boss would be one of the best romantic comedies ever seen in Philippine cinema.

When asked about who her inspiration was in playing the role of Evelyn, she immediately mentioned her Grandmother because she knew how exactly she would have dressed and all the mannerisms that came with it. She was quite familiar on how to execute this particular role because her family is quite similar on how strict, how conservative and how mataray she had to be in this movie. Marian was even suggesting headlines on the above photo that's why she was laughing profusely while being interviewed by the press.

When asked about their Valentines day plans, Marian bursted into laughter because she said "Amin lang yun, akin lang yung araw na yun.. wala namang plans kasi diba dapat lalaki nagpaplano nun? Sa amin lang yung February 14th" she insists. I'm sure Dingdong has lots of plans for her. =)

Richard on the other hand is always communicating with Sarah. They will continue to do so and see where their story goes. No details on their plans but I'm sure Richard has something up his sleeve.

The press was a little worried about seeing Marian getting rushed to the hospital (a few days ago before this interview) and her condition was not really a joke. The doctor had her on a neck brace but decided later on to remove it because Marian admittedly says she's too "Malikot and Kangkarot" so it was useless to have it on. She was also not allowed to work and instructed to have complete bed rest. She says she can't do that so the doctor agreed to have her work on a strict and limited time. They still have a lot of shooting days and a couple more for post processing. My Lady Boss has no play date yet but I've heard from the grapevine that it would probably fall after holy week. Marian Rivera thanked the staff and crew who was really worried for her and really takes care of her while working on the film She says she was so touched at how everyone showed concern over her condition but says she'll be alright. The doctor even says that in her condition, Marian is so strong. She doesn't complain that much and always follows his orders. If it were other patients she could have given up easily because the pain is actually excruciating. She's a very strong gal. She's bubbly and really so charming to meet in person. She looks at you directly when asked a question. I like her. I'm sure you would too so please do watch My Lady Boss as soon as it comes out of theaters. This is produced by GMA Films and Regal Films.
