Artists Call for Mutual Support at Puregold "Nasa Atin Ang Panalo" Thanksgiving Concert

Saturday, July 13, 2024

Just got off the Puregold "Nasa Atin Ang Panalo" Thanksgiving Concert. This wasn't just a showcase of Filipino talent, but a call of sorts for fans to stay away from negativity. See, the boys and girls from BINI, SB19, SunKissed Lola and Flow G probably have seen some toxic fans pit them against each other, but what they don't realize is that they're all good friends in real life. I absolutely love how they took time to address that during the event, and why it is important to support each other rather than try push out people from the pedestal. After all, OPM Artists should always lift each other up, the entertainment they provided that evening, was short of AMAZING!

Before the show, they had front acts from KAHEL, ESAY and Letters From June. Part of the reason why they are doing this is because of Puregold's 25th Year Anniversary. They are also almost 500 strong as far as stores go, imagine, they only started with one at Shaw Boulevard a couple years back. It's a proud moment, and this concert is the ultimate way of them giving back. This is to thank you for the years of supporting them, by bringing together the BIGGEST acts in the OPM industry.

I had goosebumps once BINI went up on stage. Their demeanor, their happy disposition was certainly contagious. They reiterated how Blooms and A'Tin's should remain positive and support each other. I totally agree!

Then they surprised us during the Salamin Salamin part by having SB19's Justin perform with them. It was crazy to see that happen! Then during SB19's performance, all the ladies from BINI joined in during the GENTO number. Seeing them do that just sealed the deal, it felt so right, "Nasa Atin Ang Panalo!" indeed!

More photos and videos are going to be posted on the Puregold social channels, make sure you follow them for the actual music videos they are going to be in.

If you want to see the performances, check out @kumagcow on TikTok and follow our channels because if it's happening, it's on KUMAGCOW.COM!

EZ MIL Set to do "HOMECOMING" Philippine Tour

Monday, March 28, 2022

A
fter his viral video PANALO became a phenomenal hit in the Philippines and elsewhere in the world, EZ MIL will be coming home to the Philippines. This is a welcome treat for those who would love to see him in the flesh, perform live on stage for the first time.

Tickets will be sold now at EZMILHOMECOMINGTOUR.COM, TicketNet, SM Tickets and the artists lineup is crazy. For starters, there's Darren Espanto, GLOC-9, Kiefer Sanchez, HBOM, PLAN B, DJ Nix, Raining Sorrow and TNT finalist Froilan Canlas.

Raining Sorrow is EZ Mil's sister, she will also be performing with them during the tour and she says "As his sister, it's cool that he's doing what he loves." HBOM says "I'm super excited to see these people, it's been a while since I've been back in the country. I'm in awe everytime EZ MIL works, coming home after 20 years of not going back is really exciting. My new single is also out, it's called "Lahi" and hope you get to watch the music video."

Darren Espanto says "It's so nice to be here today, I'm very excited to perform on stage after 2 years. It's something that is inevitable, find ways to improve your craft, something that I'm still doing now, I want to continue to showcase a new Darren, a more mature side of me."

GLOC-9 says "Thanks for having me, EZ this is so exciting. I'm very excited thinking of being here in an event with him, he knows his craft, I'm excited for him and happy seeing him do what he loves. I'm excited because just to see artists evolve how we create music, I'm thankful for that!"

EZ says "I'm just super excited, this is something incredibly huge for everyone, for OG's, for those who are just going on stage, by what Gloc and the greats said, maraming salamat for making this possible for all of us. I just hope we get to have a lot of fun. I can't wait to be there. The feeling of doing it on the Wish Bus, I didn't know how people would receive it, there were just people that I met and I did my thing. It was just a moment that captured me in time, it's a little thing with mic in front, a spectacle that I'm wondering why it is still gaining views today."

He adds "I'm not nervous, the effect of PANALO is something that is probably already been loved by the crowd, it's just going to be a different vibe. It's just going to feel like home. There will be some songs that will collaborated, it will be a surprise so you just have to see it on the day itself. As a performer, I am just myself, I'm gonna try to do my shiz and at the end of the day, live is live. I'll perform my songs, I have respect for songs, whether I perform it or not it'll be good. Stay as strong as you can, we're going through a crisis, but whether it affects you or not, pakatatag lang. My Dad's music was different, it surrounded me a lot, my regular life, it wasn't something that stick out for me and rap is something that caught my attention, in highschool I got to listen to more, in college I started looking for deep lyrics, the reality of metal which I did had words that was extreme. I just be myself, I can't do anything than just be me. I just deal with people the same way they do to me. Music or what you see on screen is work, Imma keep working. Let's just have fun doing what we love to do. Gloc has been an inspiration, in highschool, those were just the times. He's always got a special place in my heart. He makes music that you understand, it's good times!"

About other artists "SB19, BGYO, BINI, they'd be killin it now. I know they will be doing great on the world stage for sure! We should keep the momentum going, strike while the iron is hot, it's easy to get to the top, but keep the foot on the mold as we're going to be seen by an even larger audience including media."

Gloc says "I think when he gets here we can probably do something, as advice, just love what you do... treat your dream like an actual person. When I don't do well, I talk with it, like a relationship, to love your craft and it will love you back. If you do that, and see what you carry is different, you will see things happen."

Tour locations include his hometown of Olongapo City (APRIL 22, 2022 4PM - 10PM OLONGAPO CITY REMY FIELD R7CM+MCX), Manila on APRIL 29, 2022 5PM - 10PM at the Araneta Coliseum, Subic Bay Freeport Zone, Zambales), SMX Davao in Davao City (MAY 01, 2022 4PM - 10PM), Albay Astrodome in Legazpi City (MAY 06, 2022 4PM - 10PM), Camp John Hay in Baguio City. They are being supported by WISH 107.5, directed by Paolo Valenciano and produced by MAK Entertainment Services.

Gloc 9 and New Era Independence Day Celebrations at Trinoma

Tuesday, June 12, 2018

Independence Day of the Philippines couldn't be more apt than ever. With the way things are going now, a sense of nationalism would be good to instill on any avenue. NEW ERA has been here for a few years now, and they have changed the fashion landscape for caps in the Philippines as they present high quality premium products right on their shelves.

To do the Philippines some good old history, they came out with this Pilipinas collection, signifying the Pilipinas insignia in 2 versions and one indicating the year of our independence with 1898.

They have this in snapback and plain sized versions. You simply have to drop by their stores and try it on so you could get your proper size. I don't usually wear caps unless I have to make a statement and this does even more than that. It instils pride I guess.

Then we have famous rapper GLOC 9 collaborating with NEW ERA Philippines to come out with 3 designs. One has a cartoon version of GLOC9, the other two has his songs titles on it. I personally like the one with the toon on it and the Simpleng Tao inscription, I dig it.

Daniel Broderick of NEW ERA says "Thanks for spending your holiday with us, spending 3 years with us and this collaboration with a local artist is just as timely. We did the warriors JayZ, J.Lo, and the reason we chose Gloc9 is because he's getting some play internationally, so please get one as I know they're going fast. Gloc9 will be our first, but we will have a lot more soon. Happy Independence day!"

GLOC 9 also performed in front of the stage and gave VIP shoppers a taste of freedom at Trinoma, admission was free and this guy didn't hold back. His mouth almost caught fire!

They have a lot of branches in major malls in the country, go grab them now before stocks run out! It's pretty good merch!

GLOC9 and Lira Bermudez for Orange Magazine and World Vision 5x5 Campaign

Tuesday, July 07, 2015

It's been a while since I've been in the World Vision offices in Quezon Avenue. This day was a little special though because we were invited by fellow blogger Jeman Villanueva as he was celebrating the 5th year of his site Orange Magazine. In true fashion, he's making this celebration count by partnering with World Vision so they could come up with enough money to fund the education of 5 kids. Orange Magazine and World Vision call this 5x5 Campaign. They also got rapper superstar GLOC9 and talented compatriot Lira Bermudez to be their endorsers for the project. Here's their performance during the launch a few days ago.

The last time I watched GLOC9 was during a Coca Cola event a few years back. I became a fan eversince. I wouldn't be surprised if people admire him, and his music. He's also genuinely helping a lot of artists, foundations and world vision so this isn't really new to the awesome artist. For those who would like to help, you can donate for even Php 100 online through the accounts I indicated on the video or through world vision's channels.

If you may, please forward a copy of your deposit slip together with your complete name, address and contact numbers to katrina_gratuito@wvi.org, wv_phil@wvi.org, online@orangemagazine.ph or fax at (02) 374-7660 so they could properly acknowledge your donation and do proper accounting. This is going to run until July 30 but of course you can always donate through World Vision even after this project. Come on, let's send those kids to school!

Guitar Underwear Brand Launches New Endorsers

Monday, August 25, 2014

A brand that encompassed generations and rocked the innerwear industry for over 50 years, Guitar Underwear just recently announced their new endorsers and relaunched their existing ones at the Cities Events Place in Sgt. Esguerra, Quezon City. They also showed their brand of inner and outerwear shirts, sandos, modern basic briefs, panties and boxer shorts during the event. The brand which started in Hong Kong, then transferred its operations in the Philippines - now holds to be one of the best brands aiming to by synonymous with intimate style and quality.

Saw these two guys chatting and had to disturb them for a photo op. Carlos Agassi who's sculptured physique just screams the cause that he had to be here. The amir of rap, he's still got a well formed body to carry underwear like a normal shirt anytime of the day. He works hard at it and makes it a point to have regular gym time urges the need to be fit and healthy no matter what age an individual is. He's continuing to inspire the youth to not only look good but have a lifestyle fitness centric. It's one of the reasons why he's been able to stay with Guitar for over 8 years now and they continue to believe in him up until now. Carlos is glad that he's still with the brand and promises to continue staying in shape for the love of the Guitar Underwear brand.

Carlos Agassi, trying to eat right and get some sleep even with his very hectic schedules.

Guitar has been around for almost 50 years but they haven't been able to market themselves that much in the past. They have in the past just invested in regular newspaper ads and thought of re-introducing themselves to the new generation which still comprise the majority of their consumers; hence the event. Quality wise they would never change, but they might actually improve on it. The deal breaker is, they will never even think of raising prices because as they see it, their product sits as one of the most affordable in every shop, mall or stores they are in right now.

I haven't met Ann Mateo before so it was high time we get to know her a little better. When I asked about her background, she says she started singing for fun and started uploading them on the Internet. This venue got her appreciated more by netizens and got her started to do more later on. Sharing her music got her recognized by a lot of people and it landed her modeling stints, hosting jobs and then a program for People's Television Network 4. Guitar believes in up and coming talents hence the reason why they got her. Not only that, she is officially the first female endorser for the brand. She's in fact making history here. I'd like to get to know her better soon. She's happy and thankful though for Guitar to have her as an endorser. She feels that this is a feat she never knew would even happen, the fact that she's endorsing a brand means they believe in her... she feels elated.

Mark "Mugen" Striegl
When I heard he's going to be here, I turned into a fan. He's one of the few Filipino American Athletes I look up to, especially in the MMA leagues. He grew up Tokyo, lived in Baguio and trained Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He went to MMA a few years after. He's one tough cookie and his professional career is very impressive. I saw a couple of fights he won overwhelmingly.

Being a very good example to the youth and a world class athlete is just one of the few reasons why Guitar got him as an endorser. They are also gearing to have some of their designs and clothing be adept with the athletic side. They'll still have the classics but make new ones that would cater to the young, the professionals, the athletes and everyone who needs it. Mark now has his own team called Team Buffet and he'll be coming up with a team who'll manage a blog that will basically also discuss lifestyle, health, sports, food and a lot more. It's a big undertaking but Mark's excited about that. Just get updates on his Facebook page "Mark Mugen".

Guitar's Marketing Manager Alvin Ross Uy Rivera says they'll have the classic ones in the market and create a new product line. "We've already started the outerwear shirts, like the ones they are already wearing. They'll also be coming out with new bamboo fabrics, dry fit ones, Polyester shirts, and pretty soon even socks and other ones that would complete their collection to have something from head to toe. It's already second most or the most affordable brand in the market. It's available in almost all department stores and even internationally through SM too."

A man that needs no introduction is rap superstar Gloc9. I've been a fan since I saw him perform live during a Coke event years ago. He's even helping other artists make it to the scene, even better that afternoon because they also played the music video that's perfect for the campaign Guitar is launching. To get a glimpse of that, here it is!

He performed it together with Denise Barbacena. Of course there were some antics in between by Guitar endorsers as well. Since it's Filipino week, that made him even more proud to say he's part of this brand. He didn't have to strip for the most part of it but he's making the language and connection a big part of the influence he's emitting on and off cam. A lot of people believe in him and that's his selling point. For what it's worth, he's pretty happy Guitar believes in his talent and they have an understanding like a gentleman's word to support each others endeavors. That right there is priceless.

Congratulations to Guitar and your new endorsers!

Tanduay Rhum Rockfest Year 7

Thursday, November 07, 2013

One epic night deserve some gorgeous photos. I've covered them last year and this year's Tanduay Rhum Rockfest Year 7 was surely awesome! The crowd was rocking, the multitude of bands who performed were well appreciated. Thousands of people flocked the Mall of Asia Concert Grounds taking advantage of the tickets they got from drinking one of the best rhums in the world... TANDUAY!

(c) Mikz Marcelo

How can you not love seeing Parokya ni Edgar, Kamikazee, Rico Blanco, Sponge Cola, Wolfgang, Gloc 9, Color it Red, Ebe Dancel, True Faith, The Youth, Chicosci, Sandwich, Kitchie Nadal, Barbie Almabis, Alamid, Abra, Session Road, General Luna, Frank Magalona, Hilera, The Dawn, Franco, Up Dharma Down, Siakol and 6cyclemind all in one place? You must be out of your mind!

(c) Mikz Marcelo

Barbie Almalbis stayed away from the acoustic set she did on other stints and got back to her stuff with a cloud of electric guitar goodness and played the classic hits we loved.

(c) Mikz Marcelo

He's back and he's even got a Rhum Coke on his hand. He's no other than the great lover boy Chito Miranda who gave the crowd superior performance with Parokya ni Edgar. He didn't hold back on performance level and it was awesome to hear him sing with other artists during the Tanduay Rockfest Year 7. Him + GLOC9 = EPIC!

(c) Mikz Marcelo

Jet Pangan and The Dawn singing SALAMAT above all things brings back memories. He's the best in his class and brings REAL music hands down. No matter what genre, people still appreciate their music because its genuine... salamat for everything. Thank you for getting in touch with the crowd too!

(c) Mikz Marcelo

People don't go crazy as JAY of Kamikazee. Put him on stage plus a couple of gorgeous girls and he'll surely ask for a GROUP HUG. No malice or pun intended. He's the real deal ladies man and he rocked MOA Grounds that night.

(c) Mikz Marcelo

6CycleMind's former frontman Ney Dimaculangan shows us he's still got it. This guy's vocal adrenaline is tops. He's voice is really good and mighty perfect for rockstars. He's the real deal and this was doubly great when he also got on stage with other artists.

What's even better is that even if you missed this concert, they'll be showing it on TV as Tanduay Rhum Rockfest VII premiers via Sunday Night Box Office on GMA-7 November 10, 2013. It shows around 10PM-12AM so make sure you don't touch that remote if you wish to have this rockfest in your homes!

Plus there'll be MORE provincial tours like the Tanduay First Five in LUCENA City which happens on November 15 at the Alcala Sports Complex. To get tickets, just purchase Tanduay 5 years or Tanduay Light 750 ML and go to Leoning Store - Tagarao Street, Brgy.
