Stars, Regal Heads Show Support for KIKO PANGILINAN and Ms. SHARON CUNETA

Tuesday, May 06, 2025

I was so excited to meet Ms. Sharon Cuneta again after a long while and also her husband Senator Kiko Pangilinan who's gunning for a senate seat this coming week. This press conference was a show of support for the lovely couple courtesy of the REGAL Entertainment Inc. family as it always has been a staunch supporter for the good man ever since Mother Lily Monterverde was around. Now, they have Ms. Roselle Monteverde and Keith Monteverde at the helm, and they're not stopping to support his bid and will continue to do so because he is a good man.

While this was an event for a celebration and connection, it was obvious that some things were affecting them in the trail because some unscrupulous individuals find it funny to discredit the good man with memes as they don't have any issues to throw at him. He's neither corrupt nor accused of it, obviously invent memes to ridicule him and his good work.

Senator Kiko Pangilinan says "When we were alone, when I ran independent, she called us and told us she will help (referring to Mother Lily Monteverde). She's alive in our hearts. We are struggling to get to the top 12, statistically tied with other 8 candidates, a tight race. Maybe the difference would be hundred thousand and every vote matters. We have been bashed and trolled hard, demeaning and insulting us, hopefully this would help answer those in disinformation. We go back to the message, our advocacy is food security, for our farmers, and prevent high prices. Hunger is prevalent, since the lock down, thousands of people lost their jobs. Poverty has been high and people have been suffering, we have to run because of that. There was a time that 1000 pesos or 500 pesos would get you a lot in the market. The lowest inflation was 2015 during Aquino's time where I was DAR secretary. Addressing rice supply is the answer, and we could do it again. We need to focus on solutions and not on misinformation. We need your help to correct this. We hope we are able to solidify it with the truth. Thank you to the Monteverde family for the support."

Ms. Sharon Cuneta says "Walking into Valencia felt like she was still here, for them to continue this is very touching. In the Philippines, no matter what your intentions are, you lose to fake news and budget, some people believe memes, and we have proof that these are lies. Being his wife and mother to his daughters and son, I feel it. I am blessed to have a husband like him, he gives everything to us. He thinks of our children. He has passed 200+ laws, whether he eats on a pot cover it was because the carabao milk would spill if it's in a regular plate. He has a ton of achievements, a lawyer, a husband and very god fearing. He wants to serve the people but some people ridicule him, my husband is sincere, we know how to share and he wants to do something in over 2 decades. I hope they research and believe in data, not with unscrupulous vloggers who can't prove anything, why do we not focus on agriculture? We should take care of farmers and fishermen, they're already old, we can't import all the time and pay for high priced commodities. The basics we need, that's what he is fighting for."

Ms. Sharon adds "We could have just had a business and not do this, but ever since he was young, Kiko had a heart to serve. My father was a Mayor, and I grew up during his term which is why I never liked politics. Sometimes, no matter how good your intentions are, and no matter how giving your heart is, you get defeated by fake news, and budgets that other politicians use that we don't have. All we have is just the result of our hard work, and all the lies spread by these folks, we have receipts debunking them. There's no truth to a lot of these things, and our pride comes from our decency. We were raised right by our parents. I prayed to meet a husband like him. God gave me a person who wouldn't hurt me, and become a good father to my kids. Kiko doesn't have a lot, but everything he has, he gives to us. This is also his heart for the country, we didn't enrich ourselves by venturing into politics in over 2 decades. To be 59 and still work, we do this for our children, it comes from honest work."

She adds "He has respect for farmers and fisher folk so much, he sees the disparity of earning between the market, the middlemen and them. The average age is increasing at 57, and their children wouldn't like to take the jobs. That would mean people would import everything. I don't understand the proliferation of fake news, he did a great job during his term as DAR Secretary. The things he tackles are the most important. It's very easy to research the truth."

Sir Kiko Pangilinan adds "I believe that we can win a fair fight without stealing from the coffers of the government. Let's try to win what is right. Our people will be our source of inspiration, our volunteers will be our source of strength, they will be the ones to give us the urge to fight until we cross that finish line. They will be the ones who will win this for us. I'm so happy what people have been doing for us recently, they help me tremendously. Yes I have got word that a lot of people who support us, the ones we got to help in provinces. We went house to house. Anthony and Maricel is in Mindanao, they were with us in Gensan. They went to Davao and going around several cities. Gary will be in Cebu, Angeli is here with us. Papa P (Piolo Pascual) will be in Cebu. My brothers are in Cavite, Paranaque, Manaoag, and my sisters too. This was how my father also raised us, families help each other. That's why this happened. Donny was also in Gensan, Belle will hopefully be too soon but she's very busy. Vice Ganda has already shown support, Pooh, Pokwang, Pinky Amador, Jed Madela, Rita Avila, Iza Calzado (who was there at Valencia too), Darren Espanto, Enchong Dee, Robbie Domingo, Jona, Parokya ni Edgar, Rivermaya, Ben and Ben also and they will be talking to me in a podcast today, and I would like to thank them all because a lot of them fear persecution, to be bashed and trolled, and I thank them for their courage. Also, Ogie and Regine, Anne Curtis, Janine Gutierrez, Maja Salvador, Bituin Escalante, Nadine Lustre also, it's not a joke, they really have courage. We have to be strong to those who are weak, we have to fight for those who cannot fight. With them on board, I thank each one of them for the support."

Here's the press conference in full:

This is a chance to make the changes we need in the country. You and I know what to do.

Thank you to Ms. Roselle Monteverde, Sir Keith Monteverde, and Ms. Sharon for taking time to meet us!

DONNY Proves Actors Bloodline: GG (Good Game) The Movie Out in Theaters Today!

Wednesday, January 24, 2024

Just got out of the cinema after the premiere night of GG (Good Game), the movie starring Donny Pangilinan. It's a film about eSports, but right off the bat they made the presence of drama felt in this movie by Director Prime Cruz. The film also stars his Mom Ms. Maricel Laxa, Baron Geisler, Johannes Isler, Igi Boy Flores, Gold Aceron and a throng of gaming and streaming personalities too.

To tell you honestly, I was looking forward to see this during the Metro Manila Film Festival but fate had other plans. Now that it's going to be released this January 24th, but something tells me it is going to be big because a LOT folks were at the rails of SM Megamall's Cinema 2 when I arrived, I was even early in fact. For me, that was the measure for how excited folks are (and hopefully translate to box office success) and I think with Star Cinema distributing this particular movie in the country, they'll be successful putting this in around 198 cinemas today (if I heard it right during Donny's interview).

The movie will start to get you to think about the dynamics of the family, and the pressures of studies, the expectations of some, and spending time for passion. The film has excellent production value, they got Metasports create "Requiem", a 5x5 FPS game for the PC.

The color grading, the stitching of the plot, and the reveal of the twists, was given a lot of time to mature before letting it all out. Can't say much, but one thing for sure happened during the screening... I felt the urge to say that the apple certainly doesn't fall far from the tree. This is certainly an acting challenge for Donny, and having Ms. Maricel Laxa as his Mom in the film must have certain expectations (for most people, to be on the level of his Mom). He didn't disappoint, because from where I was sitting in the balcony, there were several people already crying from simply understanding the trials they were going through. Boy had so much emotions bottled up especially towards the end of the film.

They made this for a whole year, so you could see how it wasn't rushed post prod. I've seen films joining festivals in the past that felt clumsy, unfinished, and had so much loose ends. They don't have that, and I hope you see how a LOT of people worked tirelessly to put these together despite being an indie film... and how they did production work personally to make sure you get your money's worth when it hits cinemas.

Here's a glimpse of the red carpet premiere, please enjoy!

I've played a lot of games, I'm sure some of you do too. You don't even have to be a gamer to understand the film, because yes, it breathes family, love and camaraderie. It's best to bring family, friends and peers to get your movie fix. Watch GG (Good Game) The Movie, out now on theaters!

The 5th Ortigas ART Festival: A Spectacle of Expression and Creativity

Friday, July 08, 2022

The 5th Ortigas ART Festival just started at the Estancia Mall at Capitol Commons in Pasig City. This was attended by the who's who in the art scene, several art gallery personalities, those in fashion and the Ortigas family who's heavily involved in this movement. They want art to be accessible for Filipinos, and what better way to do that but now.

Architect Renee Bacani VP for Ortigas Malls says "We are grateful for you to join us on the 5th year of the Ortigas Art Festival. We were requested a space for artists to showcase their works, and this is how the event came about. We won 2 international awards for making Ortigas properties more accessible to people. We present to you a bigger and bolder Ortigas Art Festival with photography, film, Fashion, Music, artwork and more. We look forward to more years of this for more years to come. Thank you for sparking joy to our patrons."

This is a platform for artists to showcase their works, and have it be seen by people from all walks of life. They want art to become part of the daily lives of Filipinos. There were lots of art installations, sculptures, all free of charge to see at Estancia Mall in Pasig City. There are also seminars and workshops for collectors on how to take care of artworks, and hope you also get to know various Filipino artists from July 7 to August 7, 2022.

"The previous years were a challenge to Ortigas Malls, and the event concentrated on Filipino artists. At the height of the pandemic, we got help from participating galleries, FDCP. The best place is this mall, accessible to everyone. From performance art, art workshops, exhibition center, a whole art ecosystem is here. Art is a catalyst for enlightenment, and this is a good thing." says Renato Habulan, Ortigas Art Festival's Lead Curator

Liza Diño the Chair of FDCP says "It's an honor to celebrate with you face to face. For many of us who lived in lockdowns, we watched, we read and remained creative. Art protects us from harm, this is a noble cause for expressions of the human spirit. The vertical cinema contest is doing shorts asking "Kamusta Ka Na?" to incite hope, change, in this month long festival. Highly acclaimed titles will be seen and highlighted and we hope through Ortigas Art Festival, we show our love for films. We provide ways to educate, learn before artists make films and we will have several noted film makers, screenwriters to do seminars during the month. This will bring cinema much closer to the public."

Gil Granado of the Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines says "We have come a long way in fashion . We appreciate art, the pandemic has slowed us down but we continue to strike back. Art and fashion is the lifeline of culture. We dedicate this event to the 40 years of FDAP, thank you to Ortigas Inc, and all our fashion patrons."

If you want to know more about the event, download the Ortigas Malls app and register to get their card to get perks from participating malls or visit OrtigasMalls.com. Best of all, these activities are FREE so there's no reason for you not to come.
