HOME ALONG DA RILES DA REUNION: Same Family Love But Different

Tuesday, June 09, 2026

Spent a few hours at the Makabagong San Juan Government Center, the huge new building of the city of San Juan. It was special because of the event we had to witness there, a Family Day for the folks from around the community. Kids, their parents and guardians spent the whole afternoon watching and participating in a Volleyball match, games prepared by the folks from Home Along Da Riles Da Reunion. They also gave them food and refreshments from the good people of Rebisco. Honestly, I saw genuine smiles from the kids and the parents, they really enjoyed seeing the stars of the film interacting with them through the program that afternoon.

Then we were able to interview the whole cast in the late afternoon. They had a whole marching band and the Mayor himself Francis Zamora who welcomed everyone before the Mediacon started. The theater was huge! And if I'm right, we're probably the first few ones who got to use it for a very special reason, because yes, the COSME's are back! The family that lived at the side of the train tracks. Though yes, this is going to be different because the legendary DOLPHY, BABALU won't be around. But they promised you'll feel them in every scene, and you'll be seeing their lives after Kevin Cosme's passing. You'll also see the dynamics of the family, of how things have changed, stayed or become even crazier!

Here's the full press conference, you must listen to the small stories they shared:

Some interesting things in this reunion:

There were actually 15 SUNOG BAGA members but only 4 were found. One passed hence 3 were seen in this presscon. (May they rest in peace!)

Ms. Nova Villa prays a lot, and spends her life serving the church. She was always the one who prays for everyone during taping days of Home Along Da Riles, that never stopped!

Vandolph Quizon met his wife Jenny in the show, and he mentions that she is the love of his life, credits the show for it.

Boy2 Quizon aka Dos was given the task of being the Director of this film, and everybody agreed how good he did it. Dolphy would be so proud!

They tried to put in everyone from the sitcom to the series so you'll be surprised when you watch the film. Wether you're an 80's, 90's or 00's fan of the show, or new to the classic show, you will LOVE the movie equally because it is about family, caring for each other and the Filipino way of life, good manners and some crazy fun. The movie will have a premiere night on June 15th but will have the movie out on June 17th. It's going to be fun!

Celebrate Mothers Day with NOVA VILLA, CES QUESADA, FYANG and JM: "PICNIC" A Tagalized Korean Film Released by Nathan Studios

Wednesday, May 07, 2025

While the rest of the world is happening, there's this Korean film called PICNIC that's taking the theaters by storm. This is a film directed by Kim Yong-gyun and will be showing today (May 7th) in theaters nationwide.

We were at Gateway Mall last night to cover the premiere night, and the lobbies were filled with JMFyang fans and movie goers who were screaming on top of their lungs when they saw stars on the red carpet. We were able to record the media conference before the screening, so please enjoy!

The film is certainly a tear jerker. It revolves around the characters Eun-Sim played by Na Moon-hee (voice dubbed by Ms. Ces Quesada) and Jun Geum-soon played by Kim Young-ok (voice dubbed by Ms. Nova Villa) and their friend Tae-Ho played by Park Geun-hyung (voice by Kuya Bodjie Pascua). The younger version of Eun-Sim and Tae-Ho was dubbed by Fyang Smith and JM Ibarra.

They are a rowdy bunch despite the number of octogenarians included in the cast, and there's certainly no shortchanging of "landi" if you could say that out loud. Super happy about scenes where they were able to throw shade at each other. It didn't matter if their backs would hurt at each turn, they will tell you a spade is a spade even if it hurts your feelings, even if it means bringing back the past. The conversations were so amusing that when you're about to cry, they'll insert humor in between so you would giggle about the situation. I think this was clearly done that way to make sure it wouldn't be heavy and cerebral.

I super love the banter between Ms. Nova Villa and Ms. Ces Quesada. It was a good decision to provide Filipino dubbing for it as it felt a lot like home. No need to rush reading subtitles to understand the story because it could easily be understood in cinema audio. Should you watch it? DEFINITELY. I bet you'll find the story more apt for the children rather than for the Grandmas or Mothers involved in it. They'll learn a lot about how to go through the intricacies of love for family. It's a gem, and if you find KDramas so good for watching in the corners of your room, go do this in the cinemas because the experience hits certainly different.

Congratulations to CEO Ria Atayde and COO Ms. Sylvia Sanchez who knew right from the start that this would be a good thing to bring in Philippine shores.

Firestarters "1st ko si 3rd" to be Shown on Netflix

Tuesday, October 13, 2020

I loved this movie when it was shown on theaters, but I'm so glad of recent news that it's also going to be shown in a global platform like Netflix. It's got an international title called "Third Is My First" which for me is quite phenomenal as this was shown back in 2014.

This was directed by Real Florido (under Firestarters) and has earned a Gawad Urian Award nomination for the legendary Nova Villa, I would have wanted her to win that one. It got Dante Rivero the Best Actor Award during Cinemalaya and did quite good in other award entities internationally. This also stars former Senator Freddie Webb, Ken Chan, Dante Rivero, RJ Agustin and Denise Barbacena.

Getting nods from the Hawaii International Film Festival, London Film Festival, Canada International Film Festival and Jersey City TV & Film Festival makes this worthy of your binge watching on Netflix starting October 15th.

Check out the trailer here:

Trivia: The iconic coffee shop in one of the scenes closed down. I used to have coffee and cookies there. Kinda sad. But this will definitely bring back a lot of memories.

Now it's your turn to watch it on Netflix!
