Meet the Expert: The "Nose Fairy" Dr. Ruthlyn Pecolera-Salvosa

Thursday, April 16, 2026

Meeting women that have done remarkable feats is always a good thing. Her story is inspiring, one that could mirror an ordinary Filipino who's life depended on OFWs, pure hard work, and overcoming challenges. She is Dr. Ruthlyn Pecolera-Salvosa, an ENT, a facial plastic surgeon, and a rhinoplasty expert dubbed as "The Nose Fairy" by many. She also did several complex revision surgeries successfully which I deem is important in the industry.

Dr. Salvosa says "If you look good, there is social advantage. You enhance something, people are naturally drawn to that. The positivity is there, and other things follow."

She adds "Ideally when we see patients, we'd have consultations even before. With social media, they want it to happen immediately but I try to do it the conventional way. Patients appreciate this so they grasp achievable results with the proper treatment plans. I have broken a lot of hearts because it has to fit your personality and anatomy, with your nose, skin and the realistic outcomes.I took a bit of interior design, highlighting focal points, if you fix the nose, you can see everything else is going to be easy. It makes a LOT of difference."

Here's our blog conference organized by the good people of Verde Creatives.

RPS Aesthetics is located at J & S Building, 104 Kalayaan Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City. They also have branches in Sto. Tomas in Batangas and Angeles City in Pampanga.

At their clinics, they also have procedures that utilize Galderma products such as Sculptra (collagen stimulators) and Restylane (fillers). So if you're interested, give them a call (02) 7001 3150. Or simply inquire via her Facebook page (search her name) to book appointments.

It was indeed a pleasure meeting you Dr. Salvosa!

BI's Viado to Meet IBMATA's Ayley To Address PH Border Management Challenges

Wednesday, April 15, 2026

While the Philippines sit on Earth's equator, it's total coastline is 22,548 miles which means management of it would prove challenging for any entity. This week, the International Border Management and Technologies Association's CEO Sharon Ayley will be in talks with the PH Bureau of Immigration very own Commissioner Anthony Viado to take serious steps in addressing what the Philippines is facing with regards to trafficking, security and border practices.

Ayley says "We hold summits in 5 regions, find information and solutions. Trafficking is an important issue, and there's a need to talk about it, need to communicate not just for professionals but the community. Parents need to talk to children as they are targeting vulnerable people. The best way to protect themselves is by being informed. IBMATA does a series of workshops for this particular subject and this isn't an isolated issue in the Philippines, it is a global problem. The output of that is that technology can help with the problem, to protect the vulnerable people."

She adds "With advanced analytics and AI tools, it can help us identify unusual travel patterns. It also helps monitoring watch lists, but it's not 100 percent. People in the front lines are working at higher pressure and have to make critical decisions. We need to make sure they have the tools, technology to make sure they have the information and trust their instincts. We need to get them training, help and support that they need."

Here's our talk about PH border challenges, and a few things that the country is doing good at;

She puts emphasis on the country having multiple ports of entry (we have 7160 islands++) which makes it extra hard to do. She suggests to have it done with standards on each border. With systems in place like biometrics, and e-gates (where I think BI is already doing). This puts legitimate travelers with lesser hindrance so border agents get to concentrate on bigger issues like high risk cases to combat trafficking and other matters. It is here and is happening, we are 2nd globally according to statistics.

She also suggests data sharing with not just government offices, but other ports elsewhere in the world (with ample security) and see it real time. This also includes biometrics to lessen identification concerns. This will also stop exploitation, and hopefully will put a stop with the issues mentioned earlier. Education, access to information is certainly the first line of defense. They have plans to hold future events and might take on other organization to help host it.

Here's hoping that the things they'll be covering this week will get some questions answered and actionable items be accomplished.

Malaysia's CHUNK & DUNK Sweetly Lands in the Philippines

Sunday, April 05, 2026

Making a sweet landing to Philippine shores is the popular Malaysia based snack brand "Chunk & Dunk". Today is their official launch at the Eastwood City Mall where they have their first branch at the mall's 3rd Floor. This is their first global outlet, something they've wanted to do since its inception in Sabah Malaysia.

They are one of the fastest growing brands in the region, won best dessert in so many places so the Lim Family got in touch with founder Adam Shamil to bring them all here (after having it for 3 straight days in one of their branches). Adam says "Great afternoon! Mabuhay Philippines! I'd like to welcome the ambassador of Malaysia to the Philippines, my family from Sabah, and the Filipinos. Happy Easter to everyone! It's not about me but about Chunk and Dunk, I made my life savings start the world's best croffle  23 months ago and saw it grow to what it is today. You have no idea how we did it in 72 hours but that's what it took to make. I am eternally grateful for them making this happen, from the bottom of my heart, you have no idea on how you became a part of my dreams! I love you! We are now open in the Philippines!"

Passionate, perfection and quality, they now have a whole team in Chunk & Dunk Philippines through their brand partner Lester Lim. Lester says "Like Easter, we are bringing new life. It is my honor to welcome the ambassador and the whole Chunk & Dunk Malaysia Team who have been helping us all the way. My family, and so many other people who contributed to this and made it happen. So many things I want to do and say, but we will continue to make this all better. Let's do this! We hope you love Chunk & Dunk as much as we do!".

Malaysian Ambassador to the Philippines Dato Abdul Malik Melvin Castelino Anthony also gave his message saying how delighted he is and the whole embassy, the country is to witness this occasion. "This is my first foray to Croffle, and I was sold when I tasted it here. You will never forget this, and will have more. This is their first branch, and we have one thing in common, we love to eat. This connection is something that makes us stronger, we might see a diner concept soon, but for the meantime we can enjoy croffle and shave ice desserts on their first branch in Eastwood. This launch also is like navigating the future together, to progress, even if there are conflicts elsewhere in the world. Congratulations Chunk & Dunk, I wish you all the best! "

Pro tip: Get a taste of Philippines exclusive Ube Macapuno flavor if choosing a topping. Either that or Bueno Bueno (for obvious reasons, my last name lol).

If you're in the hood and want a sweet end to your day, visit the Eastwood Mall during mall hours and get that croffle fix fast! Congratulations Chunk & Dunk, can't wait to have more of you soon!

VIBE PH Showcases OPM Artists, 70's-80's Music on LIVE Performances

Wednesday, March 25, 2026

Spent the afternoon and evening over at VIBE and watched their weekend show at the Meralco Theater. The lineup was just something I couldn't pass on because they promised a couple artists to be there. Particularly OPM Icons Top Suzara of popular band FREESTYLE, alternative pop rock bands SHAMROCK and NEXXUS. There's also the young, good looking and talented lad Kenaniah, promising OPM act Hezekiah, 25 year old Yael Yuzon and his band Spongecola, plus the very lovely Gigi de Lana (who's doing a number on the same stage!).

They call this the OG Night which is done live on TV5 Saturdays at 6:15 PM. It's unbelievable to see the work they put out from this place because it took a whole town to set it up. Hosts we saw (or rather called Vibe Jocks) include Ana Ramsey, Dylan Menor, Ryle Santiago, Paulo Angeles (who was also nursing an injured foot), Kych Minemoto, Queenay Mercado and a few more millennial jocks later on in the evening. They came out guns blazing singing OPM numbers from late 70's to early 80's. It was absolutely fun!

We got to talk to them behind the scenes, after their photoshoot, they got me hooked up to talk to the artist before they went on stage. Let me tell you about Kenaniah.

The boy called KENANIAH

Been following Kenaniah for a while now. I've seen him do shows left and right, create his own music and sing them with so much gusto, and definitely see how passionate he is with his craft. It's no surprise to see him on the Vibe PH stage as he gets on the 9th spot of the Main Vibe Leaderboard. The lyrics embody a guy who doesn't see the value of his efforts and end up questioning if it is enough. It is pretty sad, but he made the misery music quite catchy. The man is a genius, and I can't wait to see him be in bigger stages soon. Check out how he did it on the Vibe stage:

After doing it LIVE, I got a hint that he's a bit sick (it was the reason why he wasn't able to perform the previous week. He's got new music and plans for more gigs soon, follow him on socials @imkenaniah on IG since he updates regularly there. Thank you Kenaniah for ALWAYS being so nice!

Also got to talk to 25 year old Yael Yuzon, Spongecola and the very beautiful Gigi de Lana. The VIBE stage is the actual second time they are performing their new song "NAGHIHILOM". Yael describes it as heavy, as it is about healing. They were very nervous about it, but knows people will LOVE this song. Gigi described it as a difficult process, even told the audience that healing is never easy process. All I can say is, I hope this isn't the last time they'd make songs. It's amazing!

SHAMROCK has got a new vocalist named Bradley Holmes (of The Voice fame), and he's being loved the same. With the plethora of songs they've got being immortalized on GMA dramas, the audience got to sing along with it when they performed on the Vibe stage. They've got a new single called PASAKIT, and it's a bit different from their previous songs because it's a bit catchy, pop rock ish, something you'd play on a drive and jam with. Here's a short chat we had with them:

If you have time, there's a couple more videos I uploaded on my YouTube channel (YouTube.com/kumagcow) These are just some of the things that you can expect with Vibe. Make sure you watch their prime time show on TV5 or their social channels because they also post performances there. I enjoyed my time covering the show and I can't wait to see more Filipino artists on the Vibe stage. They're now LIVE on Saturdays at 6:15 PM so don't miss it!

CJ NAVATO Wins SING GALING! (Photo from CJ's IG post)

Filipino actor, former child star, dancer, and now singer CJ Navato is your new SING GALING Sing Lebrity Edition Champion of 2026. This happened at the grand finals held at the Meralco Theater in Pasig City.

CJ was always fond of singing in Karaoke, just like you and me, but much of the courage he had stemmed from the charity he got to help when he won the competition. Now he's got a total of 1 Million pesos in prize that he gets to share with the foundation, a vacation package for him and his family, and a one of a kind trophy made for this 2026 Sing Galing Sing Lebrity Edition.

Here's his winning moment:

Johannes as runner up gets 250,000 pesos and the same with his beneficiary which caters to animals in Mindanao (Bantay Hayop Davao). He lauded CJ too about this win. He says "It was fun, ended the competition with a thankful heart. We talked last night and he truly deserves it. It was FUN, when I do something I enjoy it. It's a different feeling and I did that. I'm just happy to be here! Having a beneficiary, I know they lack a lot of things and I hope this would become a LOT of help to care for the pets they have in the facility. I have songs on Spotify, I love to do everything."

Here is Johannes' interview after the event:

Here's CJ's interview after the win!

CJ says "It's not about winning, but the opportunity to share it to the world. Thank you SING GALING for giving me this chance, I am so grateful! I am happy to share this talent that the Lord has given me, thank you!"

Congratulations CJ! Here's wishing more well deserved projects in the future!

A Thriving Community: SKIN2CONFIDENCE Where Skincare Meets Makeup

Wednesday, February 11, 2026

Creating connections amongst like minded individuals feels so good. You get to form friendships, a sense of community, and the thought of learning from each other brings inalienable happiness. An event called SKIN2CONFIDENCE: Where Skincare Meets Makeup (their 2nd batch) happened last February 7th. This was organized by Pretty Skin and Lamelin, it was attended by some of the country's leading dermatologists, pharmacists, KOL's and partners to discuss the exciting world of Korean skin science and what Filipinos need.

Initially, they meant to just talk about it, but formed strong bonds as days go by. They had Pretty Skin & Lamelin Korea Founder and CEO Jung Bung Sub to talk lengthy about the science of skin, the discipline to take care of it, and the trends this year. Mr. Jun Gamo also shared his thoughts on Filipinos battling it out with the elements once they step outside the sweltering heat of Manila.

Leading the way are Mayton Eugenio and Celebrity Make up-Artist Florence Vergara

The Importance of Education Before Confidence

The brand sent Korean representatives Joo Hoang and Junlee Hyeob to also talk about their formulations. From the Lamelin 2% NMN and PDRN line to the Pretty Skin B5 and B3 line, the explained the process on now hydration and other factors work. They also got the help of Dr. Mara Capirosso to talk about skin concerns to debunk myths and how to take care of it. They also had Dr. Finesse Evangelista share her experience with clinical work and its results. Hands on workshop with the gorgeous Grace Lee had them do demonstrations using the Lamelin Camella Line to address dry skin, and how they could layer to get the best results. Florence Vergara also taught more about the new Pretty Skin Makeup line. People really felt education comes first before getting the confidence that comes with it. Brand Global Ambassador Katrina Santos from Pretty Skin & Lamelin made sure they didn't go empty handed and prepared products and GC's so they too can achieve the SKIN2CONFIDENCE experience.

Ms. Cathy Gamo reiterated the importance of not just introducing their products but elevate standards, learn from each other, show trust and do it together. They had the first one done last January 14th, and the second installment grew its crowd with even more healthcare pros, more partners and consumers too. They're equally excited about Batch 3 which they plan to do on March 20th of putting their community first before profits, guided by the wonders of science and the folks who have supported them.

Everyone is invited on this date to make skincare education accessible. Make sure you follow the Pretty Skin & Lamelin social channels as they're going to post details about it there. See you at the 3rd SKIN2CONFIDENCE sessions!

Safe, Fair and Balanced Recreation with 0KGames

Tuesday, February 10, 2026

The year 2026 calls for more ways to make entertainment not just accessible, but more responsible for Filipinos. Leading brand 0KGames not only is taking this matter seriously, but also wants to change to make things even more safe, fair and balanced for each one of us.

For quality time, discipline, they're taking a stance in all their events beyond entertainment. They've got tools in the app so you wouldn't get overwhelmed with it. They've got tools to get you to stop when you need to, in hopes of making self control a norm.

They plan to even make it more clear, to tell you go stop and make it their advocacy going forward. Enjoyable yet responsible, doing it without worrying to use your brain when needed.

This certainly goes together.

SPRING IN PRAGUE: A Love Story Without Boundaries!

Tuesday, January 13, 2026

Just got off the press conference of the upcoming Borracho Films movie called Spring in Prague, romantic comedy film starring Paolo Gumabao and Sara Sandeva.

This is produced by Atty. Ferdinand Topacio who says "Newcomers in the industry always have challenges, Mamasapano was one of them during MMFF, but we in Borracho Films love making films and we do it for the love of the craft. Not necessarily high gross, but lately you have placed it in the hands of people who don't know anything about movies. It should be reformed,  with people that are from the industry so we won't have mediocre entries. It's a festival, give us the best, not just commercially viable."

He adds "Spring in Prague I think can try to be a catalyst to make better films, the competition online is really tough, the movies also cost much. The industry should show it is irreplaceable, folks who think radio was gonna die still listen to it now. Same with visual arts, the cinema experience still is the best which is why we have a good cinematographer, bringing better vistas on the screen, something you can't see on a small phone. The difference is big in cinema, and this is new which can't be done in other platforms. I got Paolo Gumabao because his face is expressive, each gesture has something to say, and not all artists can be like that."

Lead actor Paolo says "I do my best with the characters I have to portray, I really aim to the best actor that I can be. I give what the director asks for me, and I did that here in Spring in Prague."

He adds "I guess one of the things that challenged us is showing the difference in culture, Alfonso and Marushka come from different countries, different habits, like mixing ketchup and soy sauce, but they still clicked. I try to see if the director is open to work with other artists, mine was very open hearing our ideas and concepts which is a good thing. They gave us their blessing if we need changes in the scene and story."

He also told us how easy it was to work with Czech Macedonian actress Sara Sandeva. He also described how different the working ethics were in Prague when they needed to shoot everything in one and a half week. He mentioned how they were really time centric, not relaxed, and when they go on set, they're really prepared. One instance was when they asked her to go to the location, she went back to her room because there were some left to be fixed at the location. They really mean business I guess.

Although it's been a long time since this was done, they're going to have a public viewing this coming February 4th in theaters nationwide! Included in the film and production are some of the BORRACHO Artists/Talents who sang the theme song and did the music video for it. Some of the artists appearing in the movie are under Tyrrone Escalante's Artist Management, both of whom are excited to have this movie come out since it's also their first time to be part of one. I've seen the trailer and it's quite nice, especially the majestic views they shot in Prague, you'll also love their story. Here's a bit of the media conference on video:

Again, if you fancy views (of Prague and Puerto Galera), a good laugh and a romantic love story, watch SPRING IN PRAGUE this coming February 4th in theaters nationwide!

ALDEN RICHARDS Brings PH to Hollywood via "BIG TIGER" with Max Collins, Byron Mann, Katherine McNamara and Luke Goss

Tuesday, December 23, 2025

If you haven't heard, Alden Richards is taking his shot at Hollywood this coming 2026. Yes, you heard that right, Asia's well loved multimedia star is producing and becoming a part of "BIG TIGER" an action flick he's starring with fellow GMA star Max Collins, HK American Byron Mann (omg he's Ryu in Street Fighter!), and action star Katherine McNamara, and English actor Luke Goss (who's had several movies in his belt).

How did this all start? Alden told us that he personally went to LA to look for studios that he could work with via his production company Myriad Entertainment (who's done several ones in the PH). There were a lot of them that he approached but it was either not feasible for them (and a whole lot of other reasons). When he talked to the folks from LUX Angeles Studios, Bims and Sawyer Studios and Voltage Pictures, all it took was 2 zoom meetings and one personal appearance to make things happen. With a Filipino production team based here in the Philippines, Keoni Waxman felt how smooth it was to stage the shoot here, and got lots of praises for the texture they got from locations that would have cost millions to build in the US. Here, it's all natural, and producers called it "COST EFFECTIVE" to make it happen here.

Here's what Alden had to say about that!

Here's the full video of the media conference a few days ago:

There are tons of plans now to do several flim projects with Myriad Entertainment, and according to the producers, about 9 to 10 films the least. This is huge especially for the ones looking for locations outside the US, and it will bring jobs for PH crews, for Philippine based actors that they plan to do. This is ultimately what Alden wants to happen, and these are all challenges that he will try to overcome. He says "The reinforcement from production partners, to highlight the Philippines, as a location hub for Asia, if this comes true, we will have the chance to increase the quality of what we can do here in the country! I hope to work with Hollywood stars and do it with Filipino actors, this is an opportunity to bring more people to work in the Philippines and have the Filipino actors work here too. They didn't know how affordable it was to make films here, now they do!"

Max says "It's so different to see Alden do this (as an Antagonist) because we've worked together before in ILLUSTRADOS. That's totally different with our characters, he's an @SSH0LE and it was amazing and sexy, his fans would love to see more of those!"

BIG TIGER is a place in the film, and you'll see why it is called that once you see it in cinemas. They have plans to show it here, distribute it in the US and streaming platforms. This is where Alden is going, are you going to support him all the way?!

I know, I would!

LUMOS DAYSTAR Projector Review: When Bright Ideas Come to Life!

Friday, December 12, 2025

Life has been happening lately. We've been thankful to receive lots of work, getting very aggressive in socials and trying to squeeze in work-life balance if time permits. During the work week (and the holidays!), we've had several meetings and presentations, conferences to cover, where visual aids are a norm and still a necessity. Good thing there's the LUMOS DAYSTAR (found conveniently online at www.lumosprojector.ph/DAYSTAR).

I remember being armed with a phone and a projector during a seminar I facilitated in a Manila based university, it felt like a way to give back to my alma mater to make the event more engaging and fun.

Most of these events though had us arrange to have lights out, very conventional (and may I say old school). Since their projectors were a bit dated, it was doubly hard to set up, or connect to the internet, let alone find wireless connections nor speakers built in.

LUMOS DAYSTAR is a game changer, as it does all of these and more! It's a bit bigger than the other LUMOS products I've used which immediately make me think this is more powerful. The device also supports 4K resolution and can also be used in broad daylight (hence the name). One unique feature I've seen while setting it up was the way it does Auto Keystone Correction and Auto Focus so you get sharp images on screen the moment you turn it ON. While most projectors do 1000-3000 lumens, the LUMOS DAYSTAR does 3000-5000 ANSI lumens, something that can do presentations, your favorite movies and games seen even on brighter settings.

I personally use it to cast what I have on my phone to the projector using Miracast which only takes a few steps. If you're in a hurry for presentations, this would be the something you'd love since sliced bread. I also watched movies with it, and also screen some of the most interesting interviews I had with the brightest actors and actresses in the country. I didn't need to hook it up to external ones as it has dual built-in speakers for a more immersive effect. The HDMI, USB, AV ports were handy to make sure those PC connections get accommodated. It also supports Ethernet (for wired connections), WiFi and Bluetooth if you want a wireless setup instead (especially if you don't like clutter and want it to become a permanent fixture in your room). You don't even need a huge space to put this in. It can fit on desks, even on ceilings, or side platforms on your room.

Best thing about this is that it's so bright, it can be used even when there's actual DAYLIGHT. Even if you're in a well lighted room, details stay amazing!

Design wise, it's beautiful. No unnecessary lines, has easy to clean filters, and a stand to tilt and direct to the wall. If you prefer a bigger and brighter projector, the LUMOS DAYSTAR would certainly fit the bill. They just recently launched this and costs Php 15,999 with discounts on shipping too. It's a good premium gift for a family. You may order one here https://www.lumosprojector.ph/products/lumos-daystar.

It's a bright idea that just came true!

The Glow Atelier Starts Exclusive Distribution of The BARUM Systems in the Philippines

Friday, December 05, 2025

The freedom to choose what to use for your skin is something that I treasure, and so does 103 million other Filipinos. These days, we've had the opportunity to travel and discover things that are apt for Asian skin. We've seen the resurgence of Korean derm products, one of them is The Barum, a brand that has been recently launched in the Philippines. This is exclusively going to be distributed in the country by The Glow Atelier.

Their philosophy lies in "Proactive Skincare", something that is fully scientifically approached, to not just act on issues now, but starting on making the skin resilient. They have products to make sure it's equipped before things happen. The Barum addresses a lot of it with Radiance Renewing Systems via kits specifically formulated from marine sponges, to help regenerate skin cells. It also hastens peeling, the R2 HS Implant Kit and Spicules does that. They also have the Crystal Clear PR Ampoule that has PDRN created from salmon (skin/extract), and promote collagen creation. The Radiance Renewing R1 Acid Kit on the other hand is for acne treatment and oil control. It's got Salicylic and Glycolic Acid. They also have Blue Jewel Azulene line that cools and reduces redness after sun exposure.

Here's a few things they discussed during the event:

If you would like to experience it, or become part of the business, take a trip to The Glow Atelier (who exclusively distributes this in the country). Looks promising, but still, they strongly advice to seek professional consultation (with a doctor) before using these products. That's exactly what they prefer you do and I applaud them for that. You may ask via their social channels about the availability.
