MTV PH Introduces MTV Buddy Jess Connely

Thursday, September 14, 2017

These are signs that there is still something good out there.

I am part of a generation who doesn't only listen to radio, or watch youtube, but one who eagerly awaits if and when an artist, a group or band finally comes out with an MTV. It's something that I often have on my TV all day because you get to see a glimpse of what it's supposed to look like when they put it on an album. Some noted celebrity jocks like Casey Kasem (bless his soul), Mike Kasem up until Donita Rose, KC Montero and others appeared on Southeast Asian MTV all became more popular because of it... and started their career with these on their resume's. I actually cried a bit when news of them closing almost ALL their regional channels happened a couple of years ago including the one in the Philippines, I thought that was impossible but they did it to survive. I felt it would be a dark era for the music industry as well because without it, making music videos would be just be futile. Also, I was more worried for local bands who got exposure there... where will they go to promote this in other countries? I was sad, really sad.

During a tv surfing session, I suddenly saw MTV PH a couple of months ago. That was great news for me, to see somehow that they're back on tv. Got invites to a small function a week ago to MTVph as they were launching their first MTV Buddy Jess Connely, I guess they don't call em jocks anymore and this all smells millenial in my books. They got her from Australia as she was doing underground urban acts in the Philippines. She's got a really good following online and is still growing.

Jesse says "I'm excited, totally, I'll be bringing in my flavor to MTV PH, from style, to music, to events, I'll be there."

New MTV Buddy Jess is going to host a show called MTV Fuel. It's a music, lifestyle, sub culture themed show. It starts airing on September 23, on a Saturday at 8PM. They will also be doing MTV Bud Hunt - the search for the next MTV Buddies during the last quarter of this year so if you're eager to be one, they might go to your campus during the last quarter of this year, you just have to wait!

If you want to know more about Jess and the search, head on to MTV PH on Facebook  or follow @mtvph on IG and Twitter because they're all there! Make sure you also watch them on Sky Cable Channel 71 (which I do) and Cignal Channel 151 because it's cool to do that ye know!

Missing Their Music

Friday, July 23, 2010

I wonder what happened with these three artists. Good thing there is youtube otherwise I would have died boring my self to the amuse of a couple of my enemies. I love Macy Gray and her oh so husky voice. Where else could you see a woman like this kiss a dreadlocked guy on her MTV. When all the things I watch over channel V and MYX are all Korean you kinda sit back and wonder whatever happened to those artists you love so dearly from the US. MTV decided to cut back on costs because of the crisis and those regional MTV stations were all recalled. I hate that executive decision!

If you talk about easy listening and when you dream of that perfect summer - spring day while on a journey with your bike that has a lil bell on it, you have to think of her. Corrine Bailey Ray may not be that popular here but I've got a soft spot for British acts and she is one awesome lady. If you watch her acoustic sessions with other artists from that part of the globe, you'll understand why a lot of people like her. It's sheer feel good music!

No I don't miss timbaland since he just came over with Justin Timberlake and Jojo a couple of months ago. I'm not a fan of his work but I'm a fan of those who he collaborates with. Don't you ever wonder what happened to this lady?

I kinda miss her and her awesome music. Nelly Furtado had that genre of being so mad at everything else but still wishful. Her voice is distinct and I could never mistake her music for someone else since the time she broke Pop Music to pieces... remember she went out when Britney and the others were around so she was really unique at that time!

How about you guys?! Who do you miss most? Let me know!

ELY BUENDIA: Out of the hospital! ^_^

Sunday, September 07, 2008

My idol is now out of the hospital! Weeeee!

I am ecstatic! Yesterday when I watched a couple of local showbiz shows in you know where they reported that Ely is out and fine! ^_^ Weeeeeeeee!!!! Now the heavy process of not working and resting for 2 whole months is needed to recuperate from the angioplasty (that was a lil hard to pronounce!) surgery he got from Heart Center ^_^

Things are looking great from hereon... he just needs to get his medicine and checkups in tact so it won't happen again... of course the 2 month vacation is not that bad!

Now we wait until ERASERHEADS (his former band) would perform part II of the much awaited REUNION concert.... Ain't that a nice thing to know!? ^_^

Ely Buendia undergoes ANGIOPLASTY

Tuesday, September 02, 2008

Surgery again was done to my hero Ely Buendia

The manager of Ely Buendia confirmed Monday that the former Eraserheads frontman underwent another angioplasty procedure Monday morning following the band's Saturday reunion concert that was cut short by his hospitalization.

Buendia suffered from hypokalemia, a medical condition in which the concentration of potassium in the blood is low. He was administered with a potassium intravenous fluid for the said condition, they added.

Buendia, 37, had a previous heart attack in January 2007. He previously underwent two angioplasty procedures (a surgical operation where narrowed or blocked arteries are widened) at the Philippine Heart Center after doctors found at least two blockages in his arteries.

The Eraserheads, formed in the late 1980s, was the most successful Filipino band of the 1990s, and is widely credited for reviving the Filipino band scene. I on the other hand know they are the reason bands and the music scene is alive in the Philippines!

They broke up in 2002, but the members are still active in different bands.

Guy's I ask you to pray for my idol, my hero Ely Buendia! Thank you for keeping him safe God!

Ely Buendia is now okay ^_^

My hero Ely Buendia is resting at a local hospital ^_^. He's okay now!

Articles from local news says Ely Buendia is now okay. Thank God!

“He had a slight attack because of stress due to the recent passing of his mother (Lisette Buendia), and their sound check which lasted till 3 a.m. today (Saturday),” said MTV Philippines and Radiohead director for marketing Ronald Esguerra “But we have received word that Ely is now in stable condition.”

My hero Ely Buendia suffered a heart attack on January 7, 2007 and had already undergone surgery. The concert, which was staged at the Fort Bonifacio Global City open field in Taguig, started at around 8:15 p.m. and paused for a break at around 9:30 p.m. The Eraserheads opened their much-awaited reunion concert with “Alapaap” and “Ligaya,” complete with fireworks display that bested even WWE!.After waiting at the open field for an hour since the intermission hoping for further developments, loyal fans of the band calmly left the concert area after being treated to a thrilling first set.I was touched by the fact that the fans did not clamour for the concert's continuance but understood that Ely has to be safe.

MTV Philippines’ Esguerra said that while he is hoping for a second Eraserheads reunion concert, there is still no word on whether another one would be staged.
“We have received no word of a Part Two but we also hope there will be one,” he said.

Here's there setlist btw!

Ely Buendia was rushed to the hospital OMG! =O

Ely Buendia in one of his gigs

RUSH UPDATE!!!

Ely Buendia was rushed to the hospital OMG. The Eraserheads Reunion Concert was cut short because of this. After they played their songs Alapaap and Ligaya they went on a break then the MTV Producer and his sister went up on stage after a 20 minute intermission number. They are all still on the field waiting for further announcements. Ely Buendia was rushed to the Makati Medical Center and doctors say it was due to overfatigue. Reports indicate that Buendia is now in stable condition. "He had a slight attack because of stress due to the recent passing of his mother, and their sound check which lasted till 3 a.m. today (Saturday)," said officials from MTV Philippines. They all asked for prayers for the band's lead singer and songwriter. IMHO they should have made practices days before the concert. How I just wish he's okay. I hope this is not the end of it. He collapsed and sat onstage after singing Lightyears and the audience thought he was just acting. Raimund Marasigan also came out onstage, followed by Marcus Adoro and Buddy Zabala who assisted Buendia's sister in announcing that the concert would no longer continue. Let's just pray for him T_T
