Cooking with Gold Seas Tuna

Saturday, September 02, 2017

I just received a care package a couple of weeks ago and I was so glad about it. What's inside you ask? It's my new favorite brand of tuna, it's called GOLD SEAS. I was there when they launched the product and even made Bento boxes on stage. I knew it was going to be easy to prepare meals with it because trust me, I've spent several days just eating canned stuff because Mom went on a vacation... I really had to device a way to make meals with just what's inside the pantry. Not because I don't have a choice, but I don't really have time to go to the market or grocery sometimes and we have to be resourceful you know.

I love that Gold Seas has different flavors. This is probably one of the things that could differentiate them from the other brands. I personally like the one with lemon, plus the spicy one. Plus the fact that they are responsibly fished, out in the South Pacific. They are canned fresh and fast just like this blog LOL. I also like the fact that their kind of tuna is a little more dense, like really meaty, even if you are obviously eating fish.

Tuna has been known to be a very good source of protein and Omega 3. You can also do a lot of recipes with it. It's like a blank canvas, add ingredients of your favorite dishes to this one and use Tuna instead of meat or poultry. It's already a healthy dish after that. Well for me, I believe in convenience... and I actually adore just having it plainly. I don't even have to cook and find ingredients anymore because it's already cooked that way on some of the cans. Curry? They have it. Want it spicy? They have some with Pepper and Chili. I thought it was sold about the same price but I found it a little pricier at SM when I bought it, but really, even if it is, I'd still have it because it's more compact than the other brand.

For breakfast I didn't even have to heat it up. I just open the can, put it on top of toasted bread and I'm good. It made me full in just a few minutes, no rice, I could even have it in the microwave and heat it up for 2 minutes and voila!

I had the Herb and Garlic, Indian Curry and Lemon and Pepper variants for lunch, you should too! You can purchase this now in leading supermarkets and groceries nationwide!

The Affordable, The Good and Handy 555 Tuna Rice

Friday, June 17, 2016

Whoever did this is a genius!

I don't know if this is a first, but it's actually the first time that I tried something out of a doy pack of this nature. The affordable sardine and tuna brand suddenly came out with this 555 Tuna Rice just weeks ago and we're one of the few who got the chance to try it. Now I'm not really expecting this to be good because I've tried the other brand that's canned and didn't really like it. This one however tasted the same, like the 555 Tuna that I always had at home but with the exception that it's got rice. The selling point of this is that it's packed right. Now there's no more excuse to not have something to eat while you're out in the mountains, or just plain out of town.

I tasted the three flavors and find the Tuna Rice Afritada the best among the three. But the other two are not that bad and if you've loved the regular canned affordable tuna from 555, then this isn't far from that. You're basically buying this for convenience so you don't have to cook rice anymore and bring tons of cooking equipment while enjoying the sights and scenes out there.

Cooking tip: Take out the contents into a bowl and heat it up for 3 minutes in your microwave oven. It's better when it's hot. If you're out in the mountains, just boil water and turn off the heat. Put the doy pack into the water and wait for a few minutes. Cut it open and put it on your plate or just eat it straight out of the container. It's as good as you'll do it at home. Oh and please watch Bogart the Explorer in their Facebook page and see for yourself what adventures you can take this to. It's fun! It's also from the same makers of Century Tuna so you'll never feel shortchanged.

Maine Mendoza aka Yaya Dub for 555 Sardines

Saturday, October 03, 2015

It looks like the #KalyeSerye is getting better and better with the way things are going with the courting of Alden Richards and Yaya Dub Maine Mendoza.

This afternoon though, we found out about her two loves. Yes, Maine Mendoza just came out of a new commercial again this time with 555 Sardines! She wasn't choosing between two men, but the thing that had her thinking was what to have between two lovely cans of Sardines.

Let's watch it here!

In the new 555 Sardines TV commercial, Maine now is split in choosing her new found love.. Whether she goes for the classic 555 Sardines in Tomato Sauce (one of my personal favorites too) or the newer lovely flavored 555 Fried Sardines. Both are perfect with white rice and those small drinking sessions. Best of all, it's affordable. They chose Maine specifically because she's humble, attractive and funny. They also know that this persona has connected with the mass audiences and sees she's the perfect endorser to showcase their brand's top two variants!

Which one do you think Maine should choose?

Marian Rivera Endorses 555 KumpleTUNA

Wednesday, April 15, 2015

I had so much fun yesterday during the reveal of 555 Tuna's newest endorser and GMA's Primetime Queen Ms. Marian Rivera - Dantes. My Instagram account exploded with likes since yesterday and I'm not surprised because she's heavenly! I like her too, so every time I see her I couldn't move LOL. During the program, she was tasked to judge the best tuna afritada, one that was made from scratch and the other that was jist taken straight from the 555 Tuna can. The Chef made it in around 40 minutes, whilst the housewife did it in almost a minute and poured a can over hot white rice. Marian found it better in fact, let's listen in to her in these videos:

PART 1

PART 2

Congratulations to Century Pacific Corporation who also makes Century Tuna. This line for 555 Tuna they say will cater to the largest market they have and they're also going to come out with more flavors of it aside from the Bicol Express, Adobo and Tuna Afritada that they have now. Marian Rivera will have commercials for that too! We've got more photos from the event, just head on to http://www.facebook.com/kumagcow and please like my page!

Century Tuna Superbods VIP Preview

Tuesday, April 29, 2014

Had the chance to visit Boracay again this weekend and it was nice. We went there for Century Tuna Superbods 2014. I am not joining as a contestant though and that part was sad LOL. The sun was shining and the crowd that evening was getting a little thick. Aside from the search, we were also there to see John Lloyd Cruz's transformation. Hosting that part too was Anne Curtis so you really get to see the best of both worlds.

Boracay was nice except for the usual "Algae" you see and smell every now and then. The sunsets were picturesque though, it was like real live paintings and worthy to be photographed by me. Then that evening, we were treated to the Century Tuna Superbods VIP Preview, one day ahead of the actual finals.

Then the ladies came out. Judging from the last time that I saw these ladies, they have actually changed a lot. It's like they have toned a bit. That's remarkable!

They had well defined abs, sometimes I just want to envy them but I told my self I can do this. Anyway, they did rub it off by sending the men over. Oh don't get me started.

I guess this is because they also have undergone the Century Tuna diet and workout that is posted on Century Tuna's website. Now, everyone can achieve that healthy well defined body and lose weight quite fast. Remember, it's only been 42 days but look at how much they have improved over these past few weeks.

I can't wait to see what will happen in the finals. I already have my favorites and I think they know who they are. Thanks to Century Tuna for taking us all the way to Boracay to cover this awesome search! Can't wait to announce the winners a little later on this day. Congratulations! :)

No Meat Lent? No Problem With Century Tuna Recipes!

Saturday, April 19, 2014

Been cooking nonstop these days because Mom implemented a no meat policy at home this season of lent. I'm not sad though because I stocked quite a lot of these Century Tuna Chunks in Water and Flakes in Vegetable oil. It's one of the few treats we get to enjoy during these days and I'm so happy about it. If you haven't left for Boracay yet, this might just be your best friend because of it's Omega 3 content which is said to burn body fat and lessen abdominal fat cells to show those washboard abs of yours during your beach escapades.

I've been checking out the Century Superbods Challenge site for thinspiration just like John Lloyd Cruz, Anne Curtis, The Boys Night Out and Kumagcow lol. I can't wait to see how their bodies have changed since they are under Ms. Nadine Tengco and Coach Jim Saret's supervision. You too can get hold of these recipes and workout plans at www.centurytuna.ph/superbodschallenge. Everything's publicly available just like this recipe here:

Century Tuna Sisig

2 Cans Century Tuna (I prefer the Chunks in Water)
1/3 cup Pineapple Juice
1/3 cup Onions Chopped
1 Egg
1 Tablespoon Vinegar
1 Tablespoon Calamansi
1 Teaspoon Freshly Grated Ginger
1/2 Teaspoon Pepper
1 clove Garlic
1 Bay Leaf
Salt to taste
1 Cup Extended Rice (2/3 Mixed Veggies and 1/3 cup rice)

1) Boil Tuna in Pineapple Juice, Pepper Corn and Bay Leaf, drain and set aside
2) Saute Onions, Garlic and Ginger. Put in Tuna.
3) Add Vinegar and Calamansi Juice, stir for 2 minutes
4) Add egg, add salt to taste
5) Serve on top of Extended Rice (which recipe you can find on the same site)
6) Enjoy eating! :)

Now it's your turn to be a superbod! Go right ahead and make your own plans via http://www.centurytuna.ph/superbodschallenge today! See you in Boracay! :)
