BUM Summer Collection : DARE TO EVOLVE!

Friday, March 02, 2012

Let's check out what BUM has in store for their summer collection and see how it will fare with the brands that earlier released their lines. You guys know I loved what they had previously (re: Goth, Cosplay) and to put it in a nutshell it was really EVOLVING. I might have failed to actually catch the photo shoot but I got first dibs on the prints. They obviously love me =) now let's do the next best thing and give you a rundown of Summer collection they aptly call "DARE TO EVOLVE".

Empress Schuck

Empress Schuck has been carrying the brand since time in memorial. In this bit, she carries recognizable style which BUM has been known for which is the consanguinity to the black and white palette. They obviously toned down a bit on the emoness and ventured into a more subtle feminine version of it. It looks fierce yet pretty if you ask me.

Her lifestyle calls for something that her job entails and that would include activities such as dancing, acting and everything else in between. You know how unpredictable it is in showbiz, and if you can't catch up with what you do your wardrobe will surely suffer too. Good thing the material is light and even if you layer them like this it wouldn't hamper you from doing the things you wanna do. Match it with short shorts and it's a POWERFUL number to follow. Plus, the fact that you don't have to stop being FEMININE. See?! =)

Dino Imperial

Good looking (like me LOL), cool, calm, collected and unpredictable... Dino Guevarra exudes confidence like no other. It's no wonder he's getting all the attention he needs when he endorses a product. True enough the sales of the men's line says a lot with this and I'm not surprised. They have been doing so good interpreting the lifestyle BUM wants their patrons to have. The summer line boasts of light easy to wear materials. The major change is the appreciation of color. It looks like we're seeing more things other than black and white. Some shirt prints also have paisley, aztec, animal patterns on them which was not really present in their previous releases. This is a welcome change by any standard... truly BUM is EVOLVING.

This would also mean a huge change in the way BUM enthusiasts look at their wardrobe. The evolution would mark the same attitude and lifestyle that the design wants to happen. It's about time!

Make sure you have those other shirts and pieces to mix and match with these new ones because as far as I know even if its black and white it'll still work. That's probably also one of the goals of this new designs, that it will still work with the existing things people own. I love the turquoise and reds that's happening here. Pretty good to see in a pretty boy eh?! =)

Bea Binene

I got shot in my ear with the throng of fans that screamed when she went out the stage in the last fashion show BUM held at the SM Mall of Asia Atrium and it was all about this girl Bea Binene. I honestly haven't watched any of her shows but it seems that this sweetheart has a lot of promise. BUM sees that and what awesome time to dress up this summer with their Dare to Evolve line.

Just look at those prints at her. Some sort of ethnic - Mexican vibe going on and some on a toned down shirt. Just imagine how you could use these pieces on a night out in town or maybe layered with your favorite dress/top it on great hugging jeans. It's gonna look good in all the right places because things like these are not hard to work with. It flatters women. You should definitely get one of these in your closet.

If you want to have what she's having and get the same mood you wouldn't be disappointed getting BUM this summer. It might have changed quite a mile but if you think about it, they made each of these pieces to complement what you already have. Bea can work it right? It's not impossible so YOU can do it too!

Introducing DANIEL PADILLA

BUM is excited to have one of the greatest TEEN HEARTTHROB signed up on their brand and that is the one and only Daniel Padilla. Son of famed Rommel Padilla and Karla Estrada... Daniel is indeed making waves for himself. I'm not surprised that he got signed up with BUM because of all the right reasons. The brand now has color, vibrant and active. Just like Daniel the line is easy to wear, mix and match... any boy would love to have this in their possession. It has enormous amount of potential like him. When he wears stuff like these a lot of other guys would wear it the same way. I've seen this getup before and if this is what SUMMER will be for BUM it's going to sell. It's pretty awesome!

Like Daniel is with BUM, it looks like a brighter day with this brand. The summer collection definitely embodies the EVOLUTION they have been trying to inculcate in their designs and graphic prints. Now that followers of the brand have CHOICES, change is no longer too far from the horizon. Congratulations on a well executed collection BUM! Welcome also to Daniel Padilla your brands newest endorser!

I'm sure you'll have a heck of a lot of GOOD TIMES with BUM! LOL!

Marriott Manila's New GM William Scott Sibley

Thursday, March 01, 2012

Marriott Manila has been my haven for scrumptious meals (via M Cafe), rest and entertainment when I'm around the Resorts World area in the South. That establishment has a lot of promise since its inception early on; and I've heard good news yesterday about them having a new General Manager Mr. William Scott Sibley.

official photo

With a very impressive resume (which includes thirteen different properties in various countries of the Marriott brand: Marriott Hotels Downtown, Renaissance Hotels, and Marriott Resorts and Spa) and a throng of Filipino staff to work for him in Guam Marriott Resort, Scott is quite enthusiastic to take on this great challenge to take Marriott Manila a step further than what it is today. His heart is very close to the Filipinos; he's married to one to say the least. He says “I’ve found love here ( Philippines )—from people, culture, to the feel of a beautiful tropical country”.

Photos above seen him in action at the Guam Marriot Resort and Spa!

He also authored a book called "Tour South East Asia with Scott" and has made remarkable achievements even before he became GM of Guam Resort and Spa. He's very optimistic that Marriott Manila will soar higher and better this year. Congratulations to Marriot Manila for having him on board and I'm so excited about the things that he has planned for the hotel this 2012!

There's nothing left to go but forward!

678 Commercial Center: The Biggest Commercial Complex in Cavite!

Sunday was a fun day when we got invited to a place down south called 678 Commercial Center. Found in the suburbs of Molino Boulevard in Bacoor, this place boasts to be the current LARGEST commercial center in Cavite. True enough the grand place and facade was quite intimidating; but it never stopped locals and people from nearby cities to flock the latest place to shop, dine and do everything in between.

There were well known salons, catering services, barber shops inside the main building and there were a couple or more available spaces that can house close to 500 merchants. It promises to bring those facilities inside larger cities into the confines of this place for the convenience of everyone who goes there. The sun was shining and the place was jumpacked for the grand opening of 678 Commercial Center last Sunday. I felt the excitement of the owners as they welcomed VIP's, guests, City officials, media, stall owners and patrons with a huge party from morning til night. They started off by blessing the event; officiating the mass was a great local Priest. He emphasized the thought of blessing something monumental both for the province and the people of Cavite. This only would not bring business, it would bring people together, closer which God also wants to happen. That alone started the day right.

The 678 Commercial Center had several sections of the land dedicated to major parts like the Wet and Dry Market which houses most of the knick knacks, clothes, shoes and food stuff. It also has the wet area which mostly has the merchants for Chicken, pork, fish, beef and others. It was a joy going in an around that place because the people were very nice and happy to pose for us at that time. Maybe its time you visit the place or maybe make and investment. The place badly needs a Jollibee/McDonald store or maybe a coffee shop. If you are thinking of investing try that out!

Make sure you don't forget to get some of those well loved Salinas smoked fish, pork sausages and fresh eggs from Cavite... and take home to your loved ones! It's a must when you pass by this place!

On the other side of the road the 678 Commercial Center continues with this 678 Express Terminal. This will be the center for transportation accommodations and restaurants/food stalls for the complex. It was really huge and the one you see here is just part of it. This is indeed the largest place to be in Cavite!

Formally opening the 678 Commercial Center was the owner and a couple of investors. It was really nice to see them take interest in this side of the Philippines. It must be very apt for business and the Municipal Government was in full support, the Mayor's representative also was part of the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Dragon Dance and a Concert featuring local artists and Gabby Concepcion also happened that afternoon. This huge start claims how grand this place will be in a few days as the units fill up with more investors soon!

Congratulations to everyone at 678 Commercial Center. This will surely uplift the lives of thousands of Filipinos in Cavite, Laguna and nearby provinces. It was really nice to see businesses run so smoothly in the South. It gives us so much hope for progress in this part of the metro. They also support the clean and green drive of the city, they will impose the NO PLASTIC campaign here too. Isn't that neat? Again, congratulations!

For those who want to visit 678 Commercial Center, it's only a few minutes away from the main highway. Ask around the Paliparan-Molino area and I'm sure everyone will know this new landmark right in the heart of Bacoor Cavite!

Dining Divine: Dusit Thani Manila's Sunday Family Crossover Brunch

Tuesday, February 28, 2012

A
Sunday afternoon should always be spent with family and friends; and a short staycation or lunch out wouldn't hurt even in the confines of Metro Manila. Life was a little too easy for me this weekend so I chose to spend it with friends at Dusit Thani Manila, one of the most luxurious hotels in Makati's business district. It was good because they had specials offered that afternoon. I just had to take a peek at what they have on the menu.

Sunday Family Crossover Brunch

I'm no stranger in featuring buffets in my site and you're part of the reason why I'm trying this out today. I should charge you for this but I won't ;) I love you guys THIS much. Dusit Thani Manila's got a Sunday Family Crossover Brunch promo out and do you know what that entails? Imagine this, cuisines from Thailand, Italy, Japan and elsewhere in the world fit into 4 restaurants plus their signature drinks all for the price of 1,800.00. Yeap! You heard that right, even I was a little surprised about their affordable price compared to buffets from other hotels... plus the fact that you can do this in these 4 restaurants: UMU, Tosca, Basix and Benjarong.

Let's start and take a look their restaurants!

BaSixBaSix boasts International cuisine on its roster and we were greeted right away with two stations for their Japanese and Chinese offerings. Imagine getting the chance to eat something from these regions in one place. Everyone was so accommodating when I entered this restaurant!

The seafood choices were great and this is just the first restaurant we went to; just imagine what it would be like in the other three!Dusit Thani Manila has this Tandoor oven. There are only about 2 in existence in Metro Manila and this is quite authentic because they use wood burning fire for this one. You'll get the fresh pita/Indian/Middle Eastern bread and have those scrumptious KEBAB in no time!
Make your experience complete with a variety of dips and sauces which this part of the world is known for! I love their curries and chili! There are also some Yogurt based ones that's so good!

They've also got huge steamers on standby if you want your choice of Chinese Dimsum/Dumplings hot off the bamboo baskets. If you mix and match with something Asian, you can never go wrong! Find that and a lot of more in Basix!Freshly baked bread and choices of condiments are available. This is Brunch after all!
Indulge yourself with a platter or two of these local fruit selections or jazz up those bread pieces with any jam you prefer.
They won't forget your sweet tooth since they've got A LOT of choices for dessert in this restaurant alone. But make sure when you get the Sunday Family Crossover Brunch you have to MAKE ROOM for more!

Tosca

Tosca plays quite a big role in the throng of restaurants that Dusit Thani Manila has. It bears Italian cuisine which is widely craved for by patrons/guests of the hotel. We've got to have some comfort food; so this is just perfect!
Looking at the spread they have for Pasta's just makes my mouth water! You can choose your own kind of pasta and the sauce that comes with it! YES you heard that right! Fresh handmade pasta or imported ones with your own preferred sauce cooked right on the spot! Even the salads were quite good, they'll prepare it whatever you want. That's how special you are!
Not only that, you've got the Chef to also prepare you your own RISOTTO. I love Mushroom Risotto and that's exactly what they cooked for me that afternoon. They use real deal Arborio Rice plus freshly grated Parmesan cheese and loads of mushroom for that meaty taste! I love how this just melts in your mouth but still feel that filling rice goodness. Sprinkle more of that Parmesan cheese plus add a dollop of butter and ohhhh...End of discussion. This is just TO DIE FOR!

Get your favorite fish seared or made to soup, they can handle that too. Do you even think other hotels can do 4 restaurants for the same price? I mean seriously?!

TIP!: Make sure you order the famous Chocolate Cake from Tosca. They run out of this too fast because people are hoarding it! It's that good! You also have the option to top it off with your favorite Ice Cream flavor! Don't you ever forget this!
If you are in the mood for Pizza, Tosca's got you covered! They have a "Make Your Own Pizza" station so you can whip up your own pizza fresh off the oven!I like the rustic bread choices too. It makes you want to scoop pasta sauces with it.
200 labels of reds, whites, champagnes and sparkling wines and recognitions of keeping this stash for the longest time. Some hotels just dream about this but in Dusit Thani Manila they've got this going!Plus their signature drink and bubbly that's got either Orange, Apple or Mango tones should always be on your list to try!

Fruits in season plus chocolate with hazelnut - nutella like concoctions/mascarpone cheese based ones adorn the dessert spread in Tosca... more reason to adore the second restaurant on our list. Are you ready for more?! Salut!

Benjarong

Thai Food has been consistently on my list since I've ventured into Asian cuisine these past few years. Why not?! When its made its mark on the world stage already; plus the fact that it is quite close to our palate. It definitely has been a catalyst of describing what Southeast Asian cuisine seem to be and I LOVE how intense the SPICES are. Royal Thai Cuisine need not to be only for the royals anymore, this time it's readily available at Benjarong. You won't miss this on the mezzanine of Dusit Thani Manila. They currently have a huge boat right in front and boy I was so honored to see the Chef personally preparing food for me. I want my Pad Thai... and I got more than that!
It would never be as AUTHENTIC as THIS! How can I not have so much fun eating in Benjarong when the actual person preparing my food was a Thai Chef! I also kinda talked to her because she was so nice! When asked for Pad Thai she immediately walked to her small kitchen and heated up the pan. Thrown in these fresh ingredients and VOILA!
She was so nice I tell you and even recommended dessert. I love how the Thai in one way or another is quite close with Filipino cuisine. They've got custards, rice based sweets and coconut with brown sugar! Mmmmm!

This one is my favorite. It's like the local BIKO but a tad simpler, not too sweet. Then they have it topped off with sweet Mango. It was fresh and sweet, I really liked it! The other one that was green and had coconut filling on it was good too!Don't get me started about the SALADS because just mention Papaya, Green Mango, Ripe Mangoes, Pomelo, shrimp paste all whipped up together with fish sauce and other dressings just spells YUM-O!
Then just check out the Pad Thai that the Chef personally made me. The sugar and chili just adds the right amount of kick in this dish. I REALLY LOVE IT!
I'm allergic to seafood but I didn't mind about it on this occasion. Just imagine what I could have missed if I didn't eat this one on the plate! Took my meds afterwards. This is included in the Sunday Family Crossover Brunch, its the third restaurant on our list.. isn't that just nice?! ☺

UMU

It was packed when we got there and the place was quite reminiscent of the EDO period. It has that charm of neo Japanese style in food yet it kept the original ambiance homes from that part of the globe is known for. I love Japanese food and with the personal tour I made during this Sunday Family Crossover Brunch off to an end it was nice to sit down and relax in this restaurant. Above all the service there was impeccable. I have to say, even the Manager herself was on her feet making sure everyone had all the things they need. The place was like a scene in a movie; the whole porch plus the KOI pond in front of a couple of pavilions was like a Samurai dojo. I love how they kept it authentic with the mats and paper screened doors. The place itself was a treat to be in and the food was AMAZING. From sushi rolls to maki, or for the adventurous ones "the sashimi" it was a whole different experience altogether. There are also Robata areas so if you want to enjoy something roasted/barbecued it's the place to be!

Fresh soups, udon, ramen in your favorite broth/miso are also available. I love the fact that they do this on a regular basis and got master chefs on stand by. The seafood spread was a delight to see, you should check that out after the Teppan show!

There are also 4 huge Teppanyaki tables available in UMU, so if you want a totally different dining experience you should hurry and do this for a change. It's both gastronomically satisfying and entertaining; there's one table for VIP's or special functions... ask for that. I have friends who frequent this restaurant because of this, I also heard there are some celebrities who do this on a regular basis. Wouldn't you want to experience this in the same Sunday Family Crossover Brunch Experience?!

End your meal with a clean palate by getting yourself servings of Green Tea, I got the cold one for a refreshing feel. I even had this refilled for free. This is one of the restaurant's signature drinks and you can enjoy this for the price mentioned above. 4 Restaurants are just waiting inside the 4 walls of Dusit Thani Manila. It's the perfect place to hold your meetings and special occasions. If it's a buffet that's WORTH IT, you should definitely check out this place. You'll thank me for saying that!

Posh interiors, good food, you can all get them in one place. You can eat them all in one restaurant or the other. Make sure you drop by Dusit Thani Manila from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM every Sundays. As for me, I'm on to my next plate!
That's what you call Dining Divine: Dusit Thani Manila's Sunday Family Crossover Brunch!
