Camella Holds Fathers Day Writing Contest

Tuesday, June 06, 2023

He's the man of the house and yes, he deserves all the care that comes with it. It's almost Father's Day, and I heard the folks at Camella would love to make it even more special for you and your family.

Their house coffee brand Dear Joe, a letter writing cafe is holding their very first Father's Day Writing Contest aimed to dish out those proud words on paper as a tribute to our fathers on this special occasion. They are also doing a Father's Day Quiz for everyone, one that would hopefully determine your Dad's personality so you wouldn't need to think about what to give him on the actual day.

Tip: Make sure you showcase how deep your love is and tell the story how you became who you are because of your Dad.

Aside from that, give those life lessons he gave you and immortalize it with words, something other people could learn from too.

Best letter writers will get the chance to win a brand new HONOR Mobile Phone and GC's from Dear Joe coffee shops across the country. I bet it's going to be the best gift you can give your Dad!

All you need to do is follow the instructions listed on the mechanics. Tag Camella's official Facebook page @CamellaOfficial and use the hashtags #Camella #FathersDay #DearAwesomeDad #BrewingLoveforDAD. Who knows, you could be the one!

Father’s Day at Park Inn by Radisson Davao

Sunday, June 02, 2019

Had a fun time with Davao, SOX bloggers this afternoon at Park Inn by Radisson Davao. I’m still with them via the Davao Food Appreciation Tour. It’s a very fancy hotel and you’d expect good things served on their in their in house restaurant called RBG (Radisson Bar and Grill). True enough they had us sample what they are planning to serve during Father’s day and I’m excited!

They had a small salad bar together with the meal plus some desserts. So veggies, fruits, Curry Empanada, Blueberry Scones (breads available at their Lobby Cafe for takeout too) before and after our meal. I specifically loved the Durian Creme Puff which was not too sweet and you only get a whiff of the durian flavor so it’s not overpowering. Actually, I had desserts first and it was totally okay.

Father’s Day Special

Their All Meat Grilled Platter, they’ve got Chicken, Pork Belly and Beef cooked seared (most of it was grilled) so it was nice for an afternoon brunch. The proteins would fill you up but all of the set meals for the occasion come with roasted vegetables, so do have lots of it while having your steak slices.

The Seafood Grilled Platter was more of my type, it had a lighter feel for me so if you’re fond of Grilled Squid, Tuna Belly and Shrimp, then this would be best for you. It also comes with the roasted vegetables so give in to your seafood fantasies with Dad during this month.

However if Dad wants a bit of it all, try their Surf and Turf so you get Grilled Squid, Tuna Belly, Chicken and Beef. The man of the house all the care and pampering he should get on Fathers Day.

Go visit them on June 15-16 and have your fix of Dad’s favorite dishes :) and it ain’t bad to have a break with the greatest man of your life right?

Park Inn by Radisson Davao is behind the SM Lanang Premier.

Nino and Alonzo Mulach for McDonalds this Fathers Day

Thursday, June 18, 2015

We visited Mc Donalds Eugenio Lopez branch in front of ABSCBN earlier. Saw the set of Minions Happy Meal toys in the special kiosk they made for this release. Apparently they're opening reservations for the cute little creatures from June 15 to 20.

It costs Php 949 for the whole set of 10 and they highly suggest you order it via the branch you frequent to. The happy meal stubs that come with it should only be claimed on the store where you bought it from. It's a nice thing to do so you don't have to go to other places, like in my case it's either here or the Tomas Morato Roces branch.

They come in ten different designs and I saw Alonzo Mulach playing with them earlier. What's neat is that each piece does a different thing, very unique actually. Almost the same size as we've seen last year so paying for it in a package is really convenient if you're that much of a collector.

The happy meal claim stubs are in different meal choices too, 10 in fact. You should probably order one now if you haven't yet because chances are, it might get sold out on the last day. Filipinos always do that LOL.

Oh and of course, I went to the Mc Donalds event earlier to see and talk with Niño Mulach and his cute little son Alonzo. I guess he's really following his dad's footsteps as he's a child star already. The crowd went a little crazy seeing him inside the store but he was his cute little self saying hi to everyone just like Dad used to be when he was the wonder boy of Philippine cinema.

It's touching and the official advertisement is already available online, but it'll be out on public TV's this Fathers Day. Make sure you bring your Dad to McDonald's this weekend and treat him to lunch or dinner. Then ask him to buy you those cute little toys you've always wanted, a fair trade LOL!

I'll post more photos of Nino and Alonzo Mulach maybe tomorrow, for the meantime please tell your friends about Minions and the new touching Fathers Day commercial. It's really good!

Discovery Suites Ortigas this Fathers Day

Wednesday, June 10, 2015

Hi there! Glad to see you reading this article today! You see, Fathers Day is just around the corner, June 21st to be exact.  If you're like me and you haven't made plans yet, be happy that at least you're not alone. You call him Dad, Papa, Itay or Tatay, and he's practically the most important man in your life. He's provided a lot for you, worked countless hours just so he could put food on the table and send you to school. I guess just like me, you're trying to at least see how you can repay him for what he's done for your family. It's also a way to tell him how much you love him for just being who he is. Now that you're thinking about what I'm thinking, maybe you should treat him out for lunch, or maybe for dinner. Looking for a place? Have you been to Discovery Suites in Ortigas? If not, this might be the opportune time to book it. Why? Check out what we had for lunch this weekend at 22 Prime, Discovery Suites Ortigas' premier restaurant!

Amuse Bouche, French term for mouth teaser this likely Oyster dish is creamy, crunchy and fresh like the sea. It reminds us of Oyster Rockefeller without obviously going there. This is just the start.

Dyna Prime's Seafood Gumbo, made from Roux which is a base for most Cajun and Creole dishes plus tons of seafood pieces like lobster, shrimp and oysters. They wanted us to have something that came from New Orleans, Louisiana because it's hearty, spicy and would be something that Dads would love.
Discovery Suites Ortigas 22 Prime
Grilled Road King Prawns is just another addition to the creole spicy food they wanted to serve. It's got the right amount of kick, spice and served with a side of cornmeal, roasted asparagus spears, salsa and cherry tomatoes . It's fresh, spicy, dreamy to actually have a bite of. Really good!

This is the Street Glide NY Strip Loin Steak served with Baked Broccoli topped with cheese (Broccoli Gratin), and a side of twice baked potatoes. Do you remember the time 22 Prime served me the best slice of beef I had in my entire life? (Photo here) I haven't had anything come close to that yet, but since this comes from their restaurant, I think we know now why they make it so good in this side of town. People should know, and your Dad might be a good judge of that.
Discovery Suites Ortigas 22 Prime
To finish it off, here's their Molten Chocolate Rum Cake. Oozing out the cake's center is chocolate ganache that's not too sweet. Lovely chocolate syrup, slivers of strawberry, a shard of wafer and a dash of confectioner's sugar spiked with rum. It was a perfect way to end lunch that afternoon but they've got something up their sleeves, I knew it!

Oh yes, how can machismo and these super creole, cajun and road trip kind of concept make sense without connecting them to an iconic muscled vehicle brand such as Harley Davidson. Discovery Suites Ortigas is happy to have your Dad at their hotel and pose with these monstrous machines at the lobby. If you own a Harley Davidson motorbike,  you also get free parking space at Discovery Suites from June 20 to 21 if you plan to celebrate Father’s Day at this place. Promo rates for this Father’s Day menu costs Php 1,500 and is available on June 20-21 for lunch and dinner. You can also get the Junior Serendipity Suite for only Php 5,500 or the one bedroom suite at Php 6,500 if you want to spend a staycation there. It also includes buffet breakfast (at Restaurant 5) and FREE movie passes at SM Cinemas for two. You see, it shouldn't be complicated. Just make Dad have the best meal he could every have plus a relaxing stay at Discovery Suites Ortigas. Isn't that love?

Call them for reservations at 719-8888 or simply email them at rsvn@discovery.com.ph. Hurry before the place becomes fully booked!

Spending Time with Alden Richarrds on Fathers Day!

Tuesday, June 18, 2013

An afternoon with Dad was surely in the works because of Father's day. A couple of days ago we spotted one good looking guy at the SM North Edsa-Annex Bowling center, and he's Alden Richards!

Dubbed as the "Pambansang Dimples", Alden has took time out and spent quality hours with his Dad Mr. Richard Faulkerson Sr.. As you may already know, his Dad raised him when his Mom passed away. It's been tough times for him and his family and it's a good thing he's been blessed with projects from GMA. He told me that his station had given him lots of opportunities and he knew he didn't make the wrong choice of being loyal to the kapuso channel.

He was so nice in person, he had no hangups and very well mannered. Alden also had some small stories on how it was when they were kids. He always wants to go out but his Dad was very strict. His Dad says though that he didn't have a hard time with Alden because he's always behaved quite well. He knows he needs to be at home at a certain time of the day. He won't do anything that would make his Dad angry, pretty much an all around good boy.

Alden's Dad was very soft spoken. He told us a lot about Alden and some more stories when he was growing up. He's so happy that Alden had received awards and told us how proud he was every time Alden gets recognized and win awards. He tries as much as possible to spend time with Alden and also help him whenever he can. If Alden needs someone to drive him out of town, Dad takes the initiative to also file for leave from work... imagine that.

Alden appreciates what his Dad has given him all these years. He never stops to thank him in every small way and his Dad appreciates it. When asked about what Dad thinks about Alden's love life, he knows that Alden can handle it. He's matured enough to handle matters on his own and Dad gave Alden the freedom to decide about his work. Alden loves how his Dad trusts him with his decisions, but if he needs help he always consults him.

He's got one of the most perfect faces I've ever seen in public TV. He's destined for good things in the future and I can't wait to see him in more projects via GMA. Thanks to GMA Talent Center for hooking us up to get to meet this guy, and his Dad.

Make sure you watch Alden Richards in his show Mundo Mo'y Akin on GMA's primetime slot. It's on every weekday nights so don't miss it!
