VIBE PH Showcases OPM Artists, 70's-80's Music on LIVE Performances

Spent the afternoon and evening over at VIBE and watched their weekend show at the Meralco Theater. The lineup was just something I couldn't pass on because they promised a couple artists to be there. Particularly OPM Icons Top Suzara of popular band FREESTYLE, alternative pop rock bands SHAMROCK and NEXXUS. There's also the young, good looking and talented lad Kenaniah, promising OPM act Hezekiah, 25 year old Yael Yuzon and his band Spongecola, plus the very lovely Gigi de Lana (who's doing a number on the same stage!). 

They call this the OG Night which is done live on TV5 Saturdays at 6:15 PM. It's unbelievable to see the work they put out from this place because it took a whole town to set it up. Hosts we saw (or rather called Vibe Jocks) include Ana Ramsey, Dylan Menor, Ryle Santiago, Paulo Angeles (who was also nursing an injured foot), Kych Minemoto, Queenay Mercado and a few more millennial jocks later on in the evening. They came out guns blazing singing OPM numbers from late 70's to early 80's. It was absolutely fun!

 

We got to talk to them behind the scenes, after their photoshoot, they got me hooked up to talk to the artist before they went on stage. Let me tell you about Kenaniah. 

 

 

The boy called KENANIAH

Been following Kenaniah for a while now. I've seen him do shows left and right, create his own music and sing them with so much gusto, and definitely see how passionate he is with his craft. It's no surprise to see him on the Vibe PH stage as he gets on the 9th spot of the Main Vibe Leaderboard. The lyrics embody a guy who doesn't see the value of his efforts and end up questioning if it is enough. It is pretty sad, but he made the misery music quite catchy. The man is a genius, and I can't wait to see him be in bigger stages soon. Check out how he did it on the Vibe stage:

 

 

After doing it LIVE, I got a hint that he's a bit sick (it was the reason why he wasn't able to perform the previous week. He's got new music and plans for more gigs soon, follow him on socials @imkenaniah on IG since he updates regularly there. Thank you Kenaniah for ALWAYS being so nice! 

 

 

Also got to talk to 25 year old Yael Yuzon, Spongecola and the very beautiful Gigi de Lana. The VIBE stage is the actual second time they are performing their new song "NAGHIHILOM". Yael describes it as heavy, as it is about healing. They were very nervous about it, but knows people will LOVE this song. Gigi described it as a difficult process, even told the audience that healing is never easy process. All I can say is, I hope this isn't the last time they'd make songs. It's amazing!

SHAMROCK has got a new vocalist named Bradley Holmes (of The Voice fame), and he's being loved the same. With the plethora of songs they've got being immortalized on GMA dramas, the audience got to sing along with it when they performed on the Vibe stage. They've got a new single called PASAKIT, and it's a bit different from their previous songs because it's a bit catchy, pop rock ish, something you'd play on a drive and jam with. The Day I Made GIGI DE LANA Cry

Her viral performance of "Bakit Nga Ba Mahal Kita" got 13.5 Million views and now, getting thousands of viewers every night they perform, people certainly can't get enough of her... she's Gigi Delana and her band Gigi Vibes. Recently, they released their first original song called SAKALAM, and true enough, they've landed on Spotify's #1 Fresh Picks and garnering still, a growing number of streams in the platform.

They're also releasing a music video for it and a teaser was shown during the presscon, and by the looks of it, you'll love that too. It will premiere today October 11, at 6PM ono all of ABSCBN's socials and broadcast channels. Gigi says "My heart is full because we've gone through a lot. We're very thankful for that, I would like to thank everyone in my band, the management, the people that believe in us, we are so grateful to become your kapamilya. Thank you Lord for giving us this blessing. There were a lot of things happening during the shoot of the video, I couldn't show the right emotions initially, I was strong because I didn't want to cry, I don't want to feel the hurt, so I kinda shut down, but I have to feel it again, the feeling of being human. Thank you to GG Vibes, to Marcus Patterson, to our Director thank you so much. What made me strong was my experiences, the people that inspired me especially now, my bandmates, my Mom, the people I get to grow with. I made Gigi De Lana Cry with my question about love and learning from her heartbreak. But as always, I am so thankful that we got to talke to them and see a different side to the band and Gigi De Lana. Thank you to ABSCBN PR for having us! Newest RISE Artist GIGI DE LANA

Looks like their lineup is getting bigger by the day and yes, today's never different as they now introduce their newest RISE Artists GIGI DE LANA.

Yes, she's the same person you saw in Tawag ng Tanghalan and soon, on the new movie FOUR SISTERS BEFORE THE WEDDING which is the prequel to hit movie Four Sisters and a Wedding. I loved how she did the songs during the  finals, but now she's doing a whole lot more than singing because she's going to be managed by RISE ARTISTS STUDIO.

Gigi says "I am so thankful to everyone who made this possible. I was discovered through Miss Charo Santos after she saw some covers on YouTube. We decided to change my name, yes, from both sides. I think my journey was really tough, but I think it was all worth it. I did undergo workshops from RISE and I think that improved my confidence. I think they want me to do both and we'll do our best to do singing and acting so we can grow."

About Four Sisters, she says "It was very amazing. It  was so nice to be with them because they guided me as a first timer. They were so warm in RISE Artists Studio, I learned a lot from that. I did audition for the role and honestly, it was very new for me. I was nervous, but I think it was all worth it. We did stuff that got me teary eyed, Inang, Sir EJ and Direk Olive was there. I am just so grateful I got to learn from that experience because it was a big process for me."

About her singing, she added "I listened to Celine, Regine, I was really a belter when I was a kid. I first sang the national anthem even if I didn't know the words, it was a funny time but my Mom saw my potential and took care of me since then. I dind't get to drink cold water, we had a notion that it affects my voice but later on, I needed to relax. I really wanted to share the stage with Ms. Regine, Mariah, Sarah G., Kyla, and everyone at Tawag ng Tanghalan especially the first season because they are family to me. We really bonded and dind't think of the competition back then, I hope I could do more."

She wants to be an artist that can do a lot of things, to work with veteran actors. She loves them, hopefully they will have a chance to do so. Right now, she says she's not expecting, but she predicts she will be pushed by RISE and hopes she could acheive a lot after signing up with them.

She currently needs funds to help her Mom who is suffering with breast cancer (latter stage). She is currently doing fundraising on Facebook and on KUMU so make sure you also help her, she needs our help. "I did break down, but this is my job. I have to do it for my Mom, not just my dreams. I have to set aside my feelings because there will be a lot of people affected if I did the same. I am hopeful, I have trust that everything will work out fine."
