Fish!

Sunday, August 21, 2011

The house I saw in one real estate show was phenomenal. It was my dream house! The show probably did no justice to some of the things laid in gardens those even incorporated at home. Sometimes I wish I knew
how to build a koi pond so I'd be able to make my place grand like that! It's something I want my family to have soon.

Having a KOI pond at home in Chinese FENG SHUI culture is lucky and you have to know where to exactly place them. Even if they are kind of exotic in one sense or another it's actually easy to take care of it. Maintenance wise, it would be a breeze! I also think about making this a DIY project pretty soon or maybe have it professionally done if the scale requires me to do it. Our country home needs a little renovation and maybe we can incorporate this into that. We would be the envy of our neighbors! I can't wait!

The modern day aquariums can probably suffice but with the natural thing being IN now I'd probably rethink that twice. This day and age needs something shown in a natural habitat and if we can't make this easy idea a reality I don't know what will. Have you ever considered having one at home?! Have you seen houses with these on them?! Pretty cool huh?! :) It's a good thing!

Getting Our House Fixed

Thursday, February 10, 2011

When I arrived from work this morning I had to go and change clothes so I can rush to the gym. It's what I do on a normal day but when I picked up my shirt I heard something crack. My foot suddenly slid in one of the floor boards. Yeah I know this house is pretty old and we might need to renovate the second floor but I almost fell in this time. With the funds that I have right now it might be possible but the logistics of living somewhere else while doing that is giving me nightmares. That and I need a reliable Floor company that would be able to provide me with the design and structure that I need. I still want hardwood floors and the warmth it gives. It would be nothing fancy; just something that would look good on my space and give me the non slippery/rustic feel I have previously. Maybe I'll purchase more pieces to match it but as for now I'll settle for the old things I have since they are pretty expensive.

I don't want to fall in on it again so I'll try and look for ways to fix that temporarily then purchase hardwood floors once renovation starts. It was funny this morning but it's good that I am thinking of renovating this now. I guess it is time. It wouldn't be humorous if I fell all the way through and land on the ground floor right?! Ha-ha!

How about you?! Have you ever thought of getting your house re-modeled or fixed?

When you can't do it, they'll do it For You!

Wednesday, November 03, 2010

I'm no handyman and to tell you honestly it has been years since I did something beneficial at home. I can't build stuff. I don't do carpentry. I don't know how to wash clothes. I don't even know how to do the dishes. I can cook but only I can stand the spices so I'm the only one who eats it too. I can be handy around the kitchen but not elsewhere. When it started raining a couple of months ago I felt something drip on the side walls of our house. I never mentioned it to anyone until we had a typhoon just last month. It was Signal number 4 and the country was ravaged by it. While I was trying to get some sleep that same place that had drips suddenly became so strong it was already causing a minor flood in my room. Dad wasn't that good about fixing things too so we asked around. They were literally charging us a few hundred bucks just for fixing small holes and applying putty on it. I knew that offer isn't right so I checked out places like BISONBID.COM on the Internet. It was then that I said to myself, if ever I was going to have any kind of home remodel; I'll try to find help here first. I need to save money and they have a lot of people who do odd jobs like these. It looks like the perfect place for me!

Fixing the roof and the labor required for it was easy to negotiate for. I was sure that there are a lot of professionals who could do it but this one can get me the best deal since they bid on it. Professional contractors are going to have to wait because there are even more qualified people on their site that can do the job at a fraction of the cost. I'm not going to spend too much money for renovation or remodeling when we are in a financial crisis. That wouldn't be the smart thing to do. At least in this place they can outbid each other and I can choose the best deal too! Best of all the service is free of charge! No need to pay outright until you get the job done. You guys better check it out to get that bathroom or kitchen fixed next!

Moving South: Peace and Quiet

Saturday, October 02, 2010

I'm going to have a short trip to the south so I could get my things to our house there. I've been going there every weekend and it has cost me a lot. If you think about it, I'm probably going to have problems moving big furniture because it wouldn't fit the back of the van. It makes me wish some houston moving company would come and help me. It would have been faster and a lot better. I know how hard it is going to get when that time comes. I haven't even finished decorating it yet because I don't have the swing I plan to put on the porch. I'm still trying to get the table and country style pieces from a couple of stores. This is going to be great!

Having the best things in life was one of the reasons I started writing. With this in the works I'm sure I'll have my own sweet refuge where no one would be able to find me. It's pretty far from Manila but that is one of the charming things about it... its remoteness from the city. It's pretty hard to travel but the benefits of peace and quiet seem to have outweighed it. I want to see my family to enjoy that too in the near future. After all, it was bought for them.

That just made me think a lot... sometimes I enjoy the noise of the city and also the quiet countryside. How about you?!

My House in the South

Thursday, September 23, 2010

I'm thinking of new things to add to our home in the south. If all things push through my brother would have the house complete and get it done before the year ends. That is just an ambitious estimate so I'm going to give myself around the first quarter of this year to get that fixed. After that we would need to get some key pieces bought but I have a special need for western furniture. I like how natural looking wood gets inserted in a theme I was thinking for the space. I am not a professional interior designer or architect but I have aesthetics in the mix somewhere. I want to show you guys a few of my favorites... it coincides with the theme I have in mind!

I want this piece outside my picket fence inspired porch. It is somewhat a rustic/country feel obviously that I want to happen. I love how natural it looks like and the wood used is finished greatly. I don't want a metal one because that would probably end up more industrial or futuristic. I want to get lots of pillows and a larger throw on top of that. Maybe a little orange or terracotta which hints more of a Hispanic/Mexican feel. I can probably add a few dried chilis and hang them around as garlands or art deco. I think I'm inspired! I want this to be a place of refuge in the late afternoon so I could get lemonade or something similar for refreshments. I need a place to put that though. Ah! I need a side table!

If I place this quite near that and make sure it doesn't block the smooth swing it induces this would be perfect! The woodsy look is actually continued and this one has that perfect height. I also need to think about what I'll have in the interior and make sure that it is also comfortable.

I won't stop myself from purchasing an LCD TV and would like to see if this set would actually fit. The lounge chair would be a necessity for me and my Dad. I want to still have a comfortable place to watch movies if I'm not in the mood to roam around the heavily forested area which this will all be located. I don't have to worry about cleaning too because Mom is going to get covers for them all if we're not around. Nice choices huh?!

How about you?! Have you considered getting these types of furniture?! Or would you buy something else? Tell me about it alright?!

Brad Pitt Houses Victims of Katrina

Brad Pitt says Make it Right! ^_^

One half of the most influential and powerful couple in the world just gave away homes for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Lower 9th Ward neighborhood families were preparing to spend their first holidays here. Brad Pitt was sad though because this is only part of it. He would like to rebuild communities and the whole state but funding and labor were just slow. Parts of the project would be put up first quarter of 2009 and late October. "I'm really happy for the families that are going to be here, but I can't help but think about the families that aren't". The Make It Right was launched by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie a year ago. The project is for the construction of 150 energy-efficient homes in a section of New Orleans washed away when Katrina broke levees Aug. 29, 2005. He just said he's not stopping until everything becomes normal and he promises to build thousands of homes in the same neighborhood.

For those of you who would like to donate to the same cause and my friend (we're close yah know! heheh!) Brad Pitt's Make It Right Foundation, just go to http://www.makeitrightnola.org
