BARBIE FORTEZA Shows Range in Funny Barkada Film "SAVING CHERRY"

Thursday, September 03, 2026

It's been a while since I've had a laugh with a Filipino film, but SAVING CHERRY did it. This stars Barbie Forteza, Khalil Ramos, Mikee Quintos, Mika Salamanca, AC Bonifacio, Sassa Gurl, Kokoy de Santos, Joey Marquez, JC Alcantara, Monina Lawrence, Almira Mulach, and Than Perez.

Barbie plays the role of Cherry who's getting married to Jude (played by Khalil) but finds out he wasn't the man of her dreams after all on day 1. Mikee, Mika, AC and Sassa are friends who went to rescue her as she gets into a wild state, taking her own sweet revenge after saving herself YEARS for marriage.

Barbie is an actress, she does impeccable comedic timing for every scene she's involved in and gives a place to start a conversation where each one of her friends could come in. You can't help but be surprised on how she becomes a chameleon, showing experience, range, that she probably can do any other character there is in cinema. Cherry is one tough, bold and strong woman, and Barbie gives so much life to her in this film.

My personal favorite part is the scene on the stairwell. Mikee represents the life of a married woman and all the intricacies of issues she faces. Watch out for the little language she injects on the scenes and why you'll never see a washing machine the same way again. AC on the other hand does a fun religious character, which makes this a crazy mix of personalities. Mika's character is the most liberated one, taking Cherry on a wild goose chase of finding a man who can do her the favor she's been wanting to do after Jude did something to her. Sassa as always will be the source of beauty and kanal (breath?) humor that gave her the nod in previous Regal projects, it just made each moment like a wild party!

But don't be deceived with the comedy content in this film because once the dust settles, Barbie will definitely give the DRAMA you can expect from an actress of her caliber. When Barbie and Khalil take you to the quiet moments, you'll be swayed with their tears, then feel her ANGER when she needs to.

SAVING CHERRY is a must watch, especially if you are a fan of BARBIE, MIKEE, AC, MIKA and SASSA because they all mirror the Filipino barkada. Make sure to bring your friends along when you watch this, because it's fun, you get to see what length people can go to for their friends, and you'll learn a thing or two about the women in your life. This is produced by Regal Entertainment and Directed by Ivan Payawal. It's a RIOT! Showing today in 160 cinemas, so don't miss it for the world!

Mikee Quintos, Dudut, Chef Hazel and Chef Ylyt Host LUTONG BAHAY on GTV

Friday, October 25, 2024

4 people hosting a cooking  show, would you watch it? Well that's about to happen as Mikee Quintos, Team Payaman's Dudut, Chef Hazel and Chef Ylyt host a new show on GTV called LUTONG BAHAY.

Direk says "They have their own flavor and personalities. Hazel does mom stories, Ylyt is technical, Dudut is comedy, while Mikee is very collaborative so she always asks what to do with our guests. It's new, and if it's not Mikee it wouldn't be like this."

Mikee says " I feel with all the projects I did before, it all starts with a character. In this one, I am only going to be doing me. I'm an empath according to my professors, and hosting this will mean I get to connect with people, bring out stories we want to hear. What I would ask will probably be what people want to ask, to humanize our artists. They are just like us and this could show that. My urge to cook is the locked in taping I had because in more than a month, I had to do everything by myself. That's when I started enjoying it, also with The Lost Recipe. To be fully honest, it's been a while since I did a show, I had a long break and I felt it. They told me not to overthink, and instead looked for new skills and had workshops for public speaking. They taught us how to host. And now I'm using that for this purpose. God is so good, I trusted him and he blessed me more."

Hazel shared "I started cooking when I was 8, and growing up in Divisoria, I always look at my Grandmother's cooking. I see them prepare, learn culinary stuff and became a Mom. I was surprised to be tapped here and asked why, I am just grateful. We have a lot to share with people, and our guests too. I am honored to be part of this."

Ylyt adds "I was just a home cook, but used my experience to do content through vlogs. I am still studying, a scholar in ISCAHM, it's very technical and my goal is to teach people what I can do. I didn't get much traction but when they chose me, I felt it is destiny. I want it to be a not so serious one, they get to learn from the guests too."

Dudut says "I know cooking is hard, I'm studying, I'm currently a home cook and cook for my friends. This opportunity makes me nervous, I asked why too, but I said, this is for me, I'm willing to learn as we get along."

It will premiere this coming Monday, 5:45 pm on GTV, go make your afternoon a relaxing one and see them cook, talk and share their stories.

Saturday, June 08, 2024

Everyone was in a celebratory mood when we arrived at the ballroom of Novotel Araneta City. To mark Ginebra San Miguel's 190th Anniversary, they had us experience heritage, culture and the good things they whip up at their plants all these years.

Outside was a plethora of memorabilia, including age old bottles they use to contain their products, and how it evolved all through the years. While undoubtedly knowing its Filipino roots, the technology and corporate beginnings have all started in Manila in 1834. It was family owned, then spread throughout the country via major cities. It started a tradition, and products became high quality yet remained affordable. From their Ginebra San Miguel, GSM line, Premium Distilled, Antonov, Anejo Gold, Primera Light, Vino Kulafu, it became the most diverse subsidiary for products through San Miguel Corporation.

The event had a theatrical performance all throughout the night explaining the reason why the company has remained productive, through innovation and continue to become an integral part of Filipino celebrations for almost 2 centuries. The event was also graced by Ginebra San Miguel executives, celebrity endorsers like Boss Toyo, Mikee Quintos from Sparkle, and Attorney Oliver Moeller. Later in the evening, Nik Makino went up on stage and performed for everybody to celebrate #WorldGinDay. He's also a part of the endorsers tapped for this year, and he's mighty proud how his music and the countless Filipinos that made it viral on TikTok. He said he owes much of his success to the people who believed in him, and gives advice to only do it in legal age + and moderately.

Here's a glimpse of the event, please enjoy!
