The Philippine Coffee Expo 2025 "Charting New Frontiers" Slated May 9-11 at SPACE One Ayala

Friday, March 14, 2025

F
ilipinos love for coffee is not surprising. If I'd ask you how many cups you've had for a day, you would probably lie to lessen the guilt or just throw in a number and call it a day. We are after all the second largest coffee consumer in Asia right after our neighbor Japan, because those cups of coffee in the morning gets counted too. Our coffee culture is undeniable, and the industry is still growing. The strong market actually has issues, supply isn't enough locally. Surprise, surprise!

Recently, they launched the 2025 edition of The Philippine Coffee Expo which they labeled as "Charting New Frontiers". This will happen on May 9 to 11 at One Ayala's events facility called SPACE which is directly accessible from the Ayala MRT Station in Makati. The media conference was arranged by Perdem Hay Marketing Solutions Inc. and their sponsors Gourmet Farms Inc., the Provincial Government of Sultan Kudarat, the Department of Agriculture's Philippine Rural Development Project and National Project Coordinating Office, the kind people from Easy Brand PH (who's got awesome products btw!), Eighty Plus, Top Creamery, and the folks from Curve Coffee Collaborators too.

The event will also house the annual Philippine Coffee Quality Competition where they choose the best coffee beans and recognize the farmers that produce it. They also recognize the folks in between, who make sure those who get those beans from the land they came from to your coffee cup. They follow strict guidelines to make sure they acknowledge those who have merits. Exhibitors include Lasa, Cavite State Polytechnic University, Food inc., the good people of Cordillera Coffee, Agnep Heritage Coffee, Cafe Vera, Ciento Cookies, Milestone Coffee + Kitchen, D'Baristroe, Drip Kofi, Messy Summers, Subtle Coffee, Agkafetta Coffee, Cafe Sartog, and more. If you are planning to put up a cafe, or simple trying to source products for it, this would be the best event you could go to. They also had different artists do Coffee Art, which was so nice to see done live!

There will be local and international resource speakers, Coffee and Story Sessions, exhibits, business connections, cupping events, several pop up cafes on site, international specialty coffee exhibitors, Barista and Roasting competitions too.

Ms. Brenda Claver the PCG Director for Audit  says "I've been doing talks in different regions, from barista, supplier, and just about everyone in organizing this event. Coffee is a source for comfort, and the Philippine Coffee Expo has been an occasion to come together to share our expertise. Bringing the world together, from our exhibits, demos, it will be a feast for the senses. We have roasters,  equipment manufacturers to showcase the latest products in the coffee world. It's not just about coffee, but community, to promote and work together in an environmental way, spreading the love for coffee."

Philippine Coffee Guild Chairman Mel Garcia says "Coffee is part of my research, this is more than just celebrating produce, but beyond that, it's an industry that involves producers and consumers deeper than the usual. We have members across the chain, even educators and enthusiasts who are members. Composer of those that represent stakeholders, public or private, and we are an organization that represents the industry and its members. The first one was in Davao in 2022 and we promoted farm entrepreneurship. We are going around the country and did it in World Trade Center, and now we are the highly accessible One Ayala and their SPACE. Foot traffic was great, and we had to beg off some attendees because there were so many folks coming in. We need to look beyond the industry, the sheer number of is visibly growing, but perhaps, not really maturing. With your help, we want to use our platform that would be able to help us. Some of our sponsors are here. Help us to tell people that our market needs to mature. We need to address volume, an entire ecosystem, this great venue will house a multitude of regions and represent their provinces. This would be a great place for you to get first dibs and network with like minded individuals, and surely baristas will fight for their place. They will be judged with world class criterion, in this annual coffee competition. You could see how  lives have changed with it."

Here's the press conference on video, please enjoy!

He adds "We are recognized by DTI and have SME's, Pop Up Shops participating. They are leading brands that you would be good to talk to about the industry and various sectors."

As you can see, this is just the tip of the iceberg. We have yet to discuss a lot about the Philippine coffee industry and its promising future. If you would want to acquire tickets to the event, please visit their official site philippinecoffeeexpo.com and register there.

PROJECT T Opens Second Serviced Co-Working Spot at BGC

Friday, December 28, 2018

A blogger like me needs fast internet connection, a cozy place with no distractions, a space where I could work and concentrate so I could whip out good articles for my own website. Aside from my home, you would often see me in coffee shops, internet cafes and when I really need to do deadlines, I go to shared spaces and offices because practically, everything I need is all there.

Project T International IT and Business Solutions just opened their second location at BGC. They offer serviced offices, co working spaces which would be perfect for startups who rely heavily on IT infrastructure, fast rampups in manpower (HR) and even other office functions (accounting etc.). Located at Twenty Five Seven McKinley in Bonifacio Global City, they now have a 500 seat capacity, amenities like a gym, fitness studios so workers have a place to keep healthy.

They have plans to also put up additional machines, sports equipment, planned fitness activities year round to keep with the goal. Clients can also enjoy naps in modern sleeping quarters, shower areas and convertible movie rooms too so they can get their kids occupied while parents get busy at work. Their IT Director Kevin Cabrera also assures 24/7 technicians on standby so they have uninterrupted internet connection, security via biometrics applied in each room. A factor that would be important in any business operation.

Here, clients can pick their space and do away with their Built to Suit program choosing specifications on their list, design their space and negotiate their terms even on installment. They've already had several clients who have success stories growing their manpower double, because their flexible terms and relationship with them have always been good.

If you want to know more about them, you may visit their official site ProjectTSolutions.com. It's all there!

The Space and People at KMC Solutions

Wednesday, May 30, 2018

I have a bit of an idea about KMC Solutions, I think I was able to visit one of their offices in BGC a couple of years ago. This one you're going to see is a little bit on the outskirts of Bonifacio Global City, particularly the Cyber Sigma building at Lawton Avenue in the McKinley district. This company is huge as they can house 6,800 work stations, 25 offices, 14 office buildings comprising 37,000 square meters of office space in locations like Metro Manila and Metro Cebu. The company provides coworking space and office services. This is one way of housing multinational companies in the country so they could provide what they need if they are here. Europe, US, Australia, Singapore, they've all been able to design and build offices for SME's based internationally.

This is very interesting because you can find a use for these properties even if you don't have your own building, making this a haven for businesses that have worldwide reach. Previous clientele include ANZ, PWC, IGH, Yelp, Ericsson, Goodyear, Merck, Royal Carribean, UBER, Sun Life Financial, Vistaprint, TaskUs, Vocus, AirBnB, Ebay, Pru Life UK and others. If you've keen on setting up an office in the Philippines, this might well be a good jump off point and set it up without worrying too much about infrastructure or people needs. They do HR, Payroll, IT services, so you can get up an running in a short amount of time. They even have local companies who also come in a operate, making it viable for employing talented Filipinos so you can do business with less manpower cost, without sacrificing quality. I hope you see the value in that.

I got a short tour, people are really kind and professional. Check out their pantry! It's pretty fancy!

It looks like something good is about to happen in the south as Lica Management Inc. just recently held their topping off ceremonies for the 8 storey building at Dr. A Santos Avenue in BF Homes Parañaque City. It will be called Nissan Sucat Zentrum bound to be completed during the first quarter of 2018. The topping off ceremonies were witnessed by Lica Management executives and Lica Engineering and Design Group.

This will also house Nissan Sucat which will be under the Lica Auto Group, a company that has won tons of awards for retail and services. This would be special and will cater to all that would need Global Nissan Dealership in the south, and the rest of the country.

They also had people from Jones Lang La Salle, retail tenants 7-11, The Generics Pharmacy, Cebuana Lhullier, E-Bingo, Yellow Sweets Cafe which will be part of the building's commercial lineup. Quezon Is Home

Friday, August 19, 2016

This August marks another year to celebrate "Buwan ng Wika", celebrating the country's national language. Did you know that this was put into law during the time of Manuel Quezon? We actually owe a lot to this man and obviously for the great things he's done for the country including our independence from the US.

Just this morning, I was among the few people invited to the unveiling of this gorgeous Fernando Amorsolo painting of Manuel Quezon at the Manuel L. Quezon University Campus in Quezon City. That might be a mouthful, but it's an honor bestowed a great man and rightfully so or we all wouldn't be where we are today without him.

The event was graced by MLQU Executives, Directors, officials, and former Speaker of the House Sonny Belmonte. He's my congressman too and I've been a QC boy all my life. It just is different when you see the actual painting, it's like taking something that is rightfully supposed to be here.

A man that has been honored here and around the world, his body lies in the Quezon Memorial Shrine, but his legacy continues. Bringing home this paintig of the great man to the MLQU Graduate School was just the rightful thing to do. MLQU just transferred this from Manila Campus, to it's new home in Quezon City. I think they are transferring everything here in a few years time. It's an offshoot of MLQU's success and they have the student population has doubled this year. Improvements are also being felt in professional schools, graduate school this semester. This is a mark of their cooperation with various institutions and industries.

Bloomberg has also been offering business courses, local and international business programs, all competency based and will in the end have Bloomberg certificates upon finishing the course. They have been active in doing these for professionals, a lot of companies do this with Bloomberg terminals and they have signed an agreement with MLQU the Bloomberg laboratories open to all that wishes to enhance their qualifications now that people are competing with other countries.

They see the need to compete with that. They will have equivalency programs too. MLQU will offer these programs with international qualifications, getting all these degrees in 4-5 years. They are planning to do this with the thought of being the Harvard of Asia. So for those looking for further studies, they're just here at MLQU beside the MRT Station in Kamuning QC. This is in cooperation with East West Educational Specialists. This is good news. They also have real estate management certifications soon as they partnered with CREBA. MLQU will be tapping Engineering, Academe and everything else soon and not just concentrating in Law which is their primary course. The drive to get their students quality and relevant education.

They are just starting.

New Shared Living Concepts: SPACE in Edsa

Thursday, February 11, 2016

Do you live in the north or way way south? Do you hate traveling distances when all you want to do is go to Makati or nearby offices? Well here's the thing, there's SPACE in Edsa. It's a dormitory type of living right in between Shaw and Pioneer MRT stations. All you need to do is pay Php 4,200, plus one month advanced so you can enjoy living in this hood and enjoy the amenities too. Mind you the place has a working gym inside plus a mess hall where you can entertain guests and commune with other people in the same place.

You have modern keycard access, a room mate matching program so you don't disturb other inhabitants when they have different schedules, and common dining space. The Php 4,200 per month actually is inclusive of Electric and Water Bills so it's like super affordable condo living which you can renew every month. If you're like me who's sick and tired of lining up, fitting in like a sardine inside the MRT everyday, then this might be the perfect place for you. SPACE Edsa is located at 167 Edsa, it's on top of the Major Homes Building in Mandaluyong City. You can also access it via Sierra Madre street in Mandaluyong so you wouldn't miss it. You can call them now at 09188432388 or 09772194070. This is a nice place to live in when you're a student or working nearby. It's also something new, a concept in shared living.

Clean rooms, in 8 or 4 divisions, plus ample amount of shower and comfort rooms, it's all made to be efficient for professionals, students or those who work in the BPO industry.

It's tough and expensive to be stuck in traffic, so live near your office and just go home on weekends. That's a good thing. They are also a legit community, and to note, they haven't been able to experience any security issues, which is  a good thing. You might not be able to cook here but the location is sprawling with restaurants, affordable food choices that could fit any budget. This is also designed for millenials, if you're around the supervisorial/professional ranks in the office, this would be something you definitely want to consider rather than commuting and lose time with traffic. They also plan to put up more locations soon, so just imagine how this would be convenient even for students in the University belt. Aside from that, they're going to have an app based reservation system which you'll see very soon. Open 24/7, visit Space Edsa or their website http://www.space.com.ph.
