New Ride Hailing App HYPE to Launch Soon!

Friday, April 27, 2018

The Philippines is about to get better TNVS services as new player HYPE enters the market. Hype Transport brings an option, they know consumers need a choice and they are bringing this all Filipino app in the forefront of TNVS. As of now, they are allowed to register about 65,000 units on their system. They prefer loyal drivers but are totally open for existing members of other TNVS apps as long as they are not blacklisted by other corps or LTFRB. Registration starts online and walkins are being entertained in their small office in Makati but they're planning to put one up in Mandaluyong pretty soon.

John Coduris Chief Tech Officer of Hype "We prepared this since October, all the papers and requirements were worked on since that date. We have more capable programmers, we have pooling and vehicle choices, the commision is competitive which means from 20% to 5% and depends on the trips that the driver takes. Website is at hypetransport.com and you can find us at hype pilipinas on all social media channels."

COO Jennifer Silan of Hype says "We will be very strict with the process of accreditation, training the drivers, we look at the physical condition of the cars, log on on hypetransport.com and become a partner. We will schedule trainings and it will be available online. We have registered up to 5,000 cars already, we follow the mandate of LTFRB in choosing cars. We accredit nationwide but will only launch Manila, other cities will follow. No multiple drops yet but it is in the works. During the launche we will provide promo codes and will do the grand launch on the 27th. On May 26, we will be sponsoring a segment on Eat Bulaga, please wait for that."

Nick Escalante Hype's CEO says "We hope we will be part of the solution, to be a partner of drivers and operators, and also the riding public. Our approved rate is competive because it's a flat rate of 40 pesos, and also low rates per kilometer. We do have surge, but only allowed 2.0. We also have a competitive commision, as accorded by the number of trips that the driver takes. You can book us using text, even without data you can book through us. It's no charge to the user at all. We have sms, voice, messaging, hopefully less than a minute communication so passengers would be safe. Hype will be strict on cancellations, block them or suspend, right now we do not have cancellation fees, perhaps 50 pesos later on but we are still looking at it. If the cancellation is done with the driver, it will pay off the customer. LTFRB has approved us, May 19 is the exact date where everybody can download it on Google Play and the App Store, but would be able to use it on the 28th."

Now isn't this good news? Go download the app or register as their partner driver on the dates mentioned. The event on the 27th is open to the public and they will be revealing their celebrity endorser, give away raffle prizes on that day. Make sure you're there okay?

I'll download it as soon as it's available on ios.

UBER Now has MULTIPLE STOPS Feature

Thursday, November 30, 2017

Had lunch with good people a couple of days ago, took an UBER to get there that afternoon. Didn't have any hitches because it's fairly easy to get an UBER X in my town to BGC. Lunch was good, the Manila Burger hit the spot. After this, I needed to go to GMA because of another event so I ran about BGC like crazy. My friends and I had to take photos of our outfits.

Armed with the long shirt from the new Oxygen David Bowie collection, Hair by Bing Dio Salon, Bench Skinny Jeans, Mossimo Jacket and my adorable White Chucks from Converse, I think I look cute!

When it was time to leave, my friends had to go to the archery range at Makati Cinema Square and I had to go to GMA but we wanted to save a buck or two and UBER was the convenient way to go. Now I remember about a month ago my UBER app suddenly had an update on it's interface, adding a + sign on the destination prompt. I used this feature to drop off my neighbor to his destination without the need to tell my UBER driver for a favor. It was an opportune time to use it.

Rodel, Ruth and Rod had to go to Kodanda in Makati while I needed to go to Quezon City. They also had to pick up tickets at the Mind Museum so now it's easy. Using UBER's MULTIPLE STOP Feature, I can just input The Mind Museum first, click the + sign and choose Makati Cinema Square for the second stop, then click the + sign again for GMA Network Center.

As you may have seen on the prompt you would need to make these stops to a maximum of three minutes so you won't be bothering your friends and the good UBER driver waiting too long. It's good etiquette if you follow that rule. :)

So now you only need to book one trip for your whole gang and save a lot for using MULTIPLE STOPS. You also help the environment because this exactly is like a car pool. Remember to also plot strategically so you won't be going around in circles. The nearest stops should be prioritized, so you and your friends have more time to get CLINGY if you are all bound to go home.

And judging from the way their photos looked, they had fun during their archery games at Makati Cinema Square's Kodanda. Next time, I'll be joining them there.

UBER is definitely improving the app and it's efficiency to get to your destination fast, affordable and efficiently. I would be using this more now from hereon.

Would this be a convenient choice for you too?

UBER Encourages Ride Sharing to Solve Manila Traffic

Thursday, November 09, 2017

Manila has evolved all throughout the years and it's public transportation had been moderately apt a few years ago, but now, everybody knows how it has gotten worse. EDSA has been largely congested and true enough, we're all experiencing the stress and economic impact in the Philippines. How do we solve traffic? How do we make plans work? Honestly, there's just so much cars out in Manila that only got one driver in them and those 4 other seats in sedans and other vehicles come wasted, and unnoticed. If only people started to make pooling and treated it like a normal thing, that would have been better. UBER wants to take a pro active approach, to solve the Manila's traffic is a tough task but they've got research to back it up today via a comissioned study of several cities in the ASEAN region done by The Boston Consulting Group.

Laurence Cua, the GM of UBER Philippines says "How many used ride sharing to go here today? We have a lot of sleepless nights, it's because we want to unlock the city. UBER provides a lot of things including the convenience of going places and we have been here for a number of years. The UBER app has evolved and what was once a simple idea has become a great one over the years. The cost of living has been high in the city, but unfortunately we spend even more because of the traffic congestion. We lose about 2.4 Billion pesos each day and all these time spent on sitting behind the car means there is also environmental cost. Our economy is going to play an important role in the growing region of te ASEAN. In the Philippines, it's so sad to say TRAFFIC has become a part of our daily lives. Not only that, even parking is a lot problematic. Now who among you have said you are late because of the traffic? Who among you spend so much time finding a parking space? Close to 80% of people have been late because of it in the country and people really feel bad about it. We found a lot of interesting insights when we did this survey, including having 402 hours of being stuck in traffic every year. Now it takes 2.3x more effort to actually get to your destination which means Php 100,000 per person per year in Metro Manila. But it's not about the cars, but the way we use it. If you see other cars on EDSA, you often see people in cars with only one driver, and there are 4 other seats there that are left unused. We need to improve reliability with ride sharing so people don't necessarily need to prepare. These days, cabbies still ask you where you'll go before you get to ride one. Being able to reliably get a car and make it affordable at a push of a button is a good thing. This is why we have UBER POOL. We maximize the use of each vehicle and in Manila almost 40% are on it. They use ride sharing more often at a much lower cost. People are now getting the idea of sharing their trips. That's like saving 2 Olympic sized swimming pools filled with Gas and we are heavily investing in this including self driving cars in the US. We are investing ahead, our goal is to make each person to share a car conveniently in our transport network. To reduce 90% of cars on the road. 7/10 people in Manila has already considered ride sharing as an alternative in owning a car and we are now encouraging people to use ride sharing to make our lives better. We are commited to be part of the solution. The personal car needs in Manila can be met with 1/3 of cars we have today, that's 1 Million cars off the road. We hope you enjoy riding together, to succeed, we could leverage this technology and #UnlockManila by #RideTogether "

Boston Consulting Group has done the research in heavily, dense, most populated cities in Asia including Manila and they know the demand of transportation still occurs. It happens in Manila every day, that's when congestion happens. We have to invest more in infrastructure, make more efficient use of our current assets (like trains, buses, cars) and it will have a big impact in traffic and congestion. Ride sharing can scale ridership demand. Increase more people per kilometer by pooling and do smart matching.

Ride sharing can help by not making purchasing a car an option if ride sharing is efficient. You can have more passengers per vehicle and it could complement public transport. This would be great to optimize infrastructure for investment timing and get to outlying areas. It has improved cities in Asia and they hope it happens in Manila.

It's possible, so let's do our share!
