Adventure Time Says Goodbye

Tuesday, September 25, 2018

Fans of the show, you’ve probably heard or maybe seen it, but here it is on Philippine shores. Our favorite Cartoon Network show is now bidding adieu with a finale show called COME ALONG WITH ME which is a 4 part special happening on September 28, 2018 at 7:15PM. Now don’t you cry because this might end a little weird than your usual Adevture Time show. To start off the fun, Finn, Jake, Marceline, Princess Bubblegum and the Ice King took to the streets of McKinley Hill in cooperation with Color Manila for the Adventure Time run last September 23. I didn’t go because I was tired LOL.

Anyway, their last quest takes them to the Land of Ooo, so get ready for other weird characters spinning wildly on quick sand portals, swashbuckling fight scenes, different powers, and even more powerful enemies as they defend their land against them.

If you wanna know more about the show, go visit their website cartoonnetworkasia.com and their Facebook page CartoonNetworkAsia . They will have more events in the coming months so of go sign up. Or better yet, stay in the comfort of your homes and watch in the couch via Cignal Digital TV Channel 220 (HD), Sky Direct Channel 15 (HD), SkyCable Channel 178 (HD), and Destiny Cable Channel 178 (HD Digital) because they have it all there too! They are saying goodbye, but make sure you’ll be there when they do it. Or else, I’ll hit you with my slammacow!

The Biggest Waterpark in Asia: Kamia Bay Resort Palawan

Friday, March 30, 2018

Nothing beats a watermark than a fat face that's already in a photo hahahaha!

A vacation in Palawan probably would mean El Nido, Coron, or that Underground River adventure that most tourists actually go to. A little known fact is, there are actually superb places you can go to just a little outside of Puerto Princesa City. A few only know about it but hopefully, that’s about to change. Really, there’s MORE things in Palawan that people should know about.

This is our second day here, woke up early to travel about 30-45 minutes away from Puerto Princesa City proper. The reason being, KAMIA Bay Resort in Palawan. It’s located at Baranagay Luzviminda along Binunsalian Bay. It’s a rarely new property being developed as an adventure sanctuary housing the BIGGEST Aquapark structure in Asia complete with a 30 and 40 foot slide in a stretch of 3,800 square meters of a floating island that sits a few kilometers away from Honda Bay.

One side of Kamia Bay Resort where the whole thing stretches.

Now imagine the possibilities, the various things you could do here with your friends and family. You could go on this vast course traversing through a multitude of floating islands, air filled trees, big and small tubes, jumping points, a trampoline, and slides like small mountains on sea. Tumble and leap off of platforms with ease and without worries as they’ve got expert lifeguards on stand by at every part of the floating ark.

Aside from the nice course, they’ve also got a moderately designed bike course which would take you in and around the property. They also have pavillions and small huts so whether you’re a company or just a small family, you can take refuge in it during lunch or dinner, or house your belongings during day trips in fact. They also have Eco tours which you can take for your land lovin friends if the floating island would be too much. But here's a glimpse on how fun this whole trip was courtesy of the Aloha Palawan Facebook page!

The thing is, it’s also quite affordable. You can do Aquaplay for Php 788 which includes an hour of the Aquapark, an Ecotour and buffet lunch or go for the Php 1,488 for Unlimited time in it. They also have options for roundtrip transfers if you want it to be more convenient. We highly suggest you do what we did and start the adventures very early. You will be briefed for your own safety and if you prefer a little grip, they have specialized water shoes for rent so it’ll be easier for you to run around in your bikinis.

Take a nice dip, or simply lounge at their lovely villa huts.

Heck I won’t be selfish to share with you how fun it was. I also got to taste the cuisine prepared for us by the Chef who manages all the food establishments in their other properties. Check out my adventures at Kamia Bay Resort!

It was pretty hard to leave that place after the fun I had with new friends. I got to know more of them and how a family built this resort. It looks promising that they can host guests during day time and perhaps soon, they’ll have some villas for people to stay in. They also currently have a haven for artists which they house in a secluded part of their resort which they deem would be a way to “pay back” the community and the country with “culture”.

For dinner, we freshened up at the hotel first then dressed up a bit. We went to Princesa Garden Resort and Spa which was near the Puerto Princesa International Airport. We walked a bit inside and off to the shore for their Asian themed restaurant called GOLDEN ELEPHANT which was on stilts. It was very romantic, I felt bad that I was single and had to see all the couples who were there. The food was also exquisite as you may have seen on the video, you just want to stay there the whole night. Albeit friendly to families, I would recommend this mostly for pairs who would want some quiet time. It felt right, I want to go back there and bring someone to propose haha!

Anyway, it was all part of a super happy day for me to just experience what Puerto Princesa City and it’s nearby towns had in store for travelers - and those who just want to have a nice relaxing vacation. I loved every bit of it.

If you want to go to Kamia Bay Resort, simply search for them at Facebook and message them. They can make arrangements for large groups and family. Same goes for Princesa Garden Resort and Spa which has rooms and spa services too. It’s easy because everything should be hassle free, make sure you make your own vacation stress free!

It's All About Survival!

Sunday, October 25, 2015

Photo credits to Rodel of www.nognoginthecity.com

We had a great day of adventure down south together with Team Suspects this weekend and boy it was one for the books! We do spend quite some time with these folks in events but unfortunately we ended up in different teams and be with different people which is something we're really not comfortable with. We're that clingy and if you think about it, this is sort of out of our comfort zone. We did wall climbing, rappelling and a full obstacle course battling it out with different people. Aside from camaraderie, it was a way to have us cohesively work on our own little battles. It's much like the rules of survival as accorded by Bob Parsons Godaddy's Lifehack which includes going out of our comfort zones, not giving up, reasons to be encouraged, moving forward and a whole lot more. Just like him, going through these hardships made us realize about the perks of having a common bond with your brethren. We also learned about the fruits of cooperation, having solidarity and the effects of boosting team morale.

We're not the most athletic bunch, nor do we have the perfect chiseled physique to begin with. We didn't even know we were going through these hardships but we were optimistic about all the challenges they prepared for us. The good people from Pioneer also had us covered with Travel Buddy insurance via their Insure shop online so we're good for 30 days traveling on an adventure here or abroad should anything happen. We also had professional riggers and people from the camp to also help us feel secure with all our gear. Some other bloggers who were seasoned climbers also shared their expertise, giving us a view of what we were about to embark in. Everyone was both scared and excited if there's a term to define that feeling while most of us just had the urge to survive this ordeal. We all cheered for each other, found ourselves talking with each other even if we were once strangers.

While it was a competition and we knew everyone was going through a lot, we began giving each other tips how to finish a task - and that built trust and confidence. There were cuts and bruises, but we finished them one by one. We started conquering our fears and began enjoying what was supposedly frightening in the beginning. It was a different case of accomplishment because we were doing it all as a team. It didn't even bother us we were wearing different colors because once we sat down for lunch, cheering each other for the tasks, it felt we were cheering for friends and not because we had to, but we wanted to. Yes, it's a tough life and yes it's all about survival. The difference is, we survived together. That marks camaraderie at its highest form, which hopefully would also be applicable in business when we all go back to our offices and see each other, in a good different way.

Thank god for this day and the people we spent it with. We'll surely take the things we learned from camp in our lives and make it better.

Rocco Nacino Stars In "Ibong Adarna The Pinoy Adventurer"

Friday, October 03, 2014

We watched the movie of Filipino legendary story "Ibong Adarna" top billed by the good looking hunky GMA lead actor Rocco Nacino. He is also joined by a stellar cast including Angel Aquino, Joel Torre, Leo Martinez, Ronnie Lazaro, Benjie Paras and Directed by Jun Urbano aka Mr. Shooli.

The story revolves around a Datu's son who just wanted to heal his father's illness brought about by a curse sent by a local witch. He needs to go to a far flung place in order to capture a sacred bird whose voice would be the only cure and to keep him alive.

Rocco in the story didn't pass off too much as a warrior hero like what we're used to see in previous adaptations and we saw a more sensitive, courageous son who was only fighting for his Father's life. I initially thought it was going to be a little corny because of the trailer but when I watched it, the actors were really good especially Benjie Paras and Leo Martinez. You'll also be touched on some of the scenes with Angel Aquino and Rocco and feel like you have to go back home after the movie and hug your Mom afterwards.

It's truly going to be a hit with the kids because I saw a lot of them appreciating it during the premier night. They even clapped when the scenes were great which is a sign that they understood it's message. If you have kids at home, I highly suggest you bring them there. The film shows on a few selected theaters like Gaisano Mall Davao, Robinsons Movieworld Galleria, Iloilo and Metroeast, SM City Fairview, Manila, Marikina, North Edsa, Olongapo and Pampanga. SM City Rosales, Sta. Mesa, Megamall, Star Mall Alabang, Edsa Shaw and San Jose Del Monte Cinemas. Check out the local mall screenings so you guys can give your kids a treat this weekend!

Congratulations Rocco and the rest of the cast! I hope you get to show this movie later on as part of the Elementary Education curriculum in public schools where they need inspiration. It'll surely benefit them!

Places to go after Baguio: Mount Kalugong Eco Park in Benguet

Wednesday, January 08, 2014

I've been blessed last December and part of that is the trip to Baguio with some blogger friends of mine. We were able to cover quite a lot in Baguio, but in some whiff of a wind we thought about what other things to do aside from the city landmarks. I'm no nature loving kinda guy but don't get me wrong, I like the adventure of going where nobody's gone. Good thing our blogger cum photographer friend Dean Cuanso (of http://watwatworld.com/) invited us to see Mount Kalugong. At first, I thought we were just going to a hill right beside the Strawberry Fields in Benguet. I was wrong. This was a full pledged elementary rock climbing trail which was just a few minutes away from Baguio City. You'll see a full view of the valley known as the salad bowl of the Philippines. Make sure though that you have appropriate climbing shoes. I went there with a pair of casual Boxfresh shoes from the UK, which was not a good thing haha.

If you plan to go here please contact them through their Facebook page or call 09196728888/09498980328 because it is not easy going up. You'll need a 4x4 perhaps or just do it on foot if you are up to it.

To get a feel of what Mount Kalugong has to offer, here's a video I made of the short side trip :)

And that's how good it feels from up there! =) This is only my second time to go to Baguio, it's a renewed romance with the city. Benguet was definitely a perk!

Davao Hotspots: Backyard Burgers!

Monday, October 15, 2012

Since I went to Davao a couple of days ago, I felt it was but right to give time and relative attention to one of the few places I visited while staying there. Honestly, when I was looking for a food adventure in Davao I was gearing more into none of those fine dining shops because I've heard they've got pretty much a hefty amount of places to go to in this city. I wanted something like a hole in the wall thingy where everyone is enjoying food without breaking the bank or just simply one where locals would actually frequent to. With the recommendation of D60Krew matriarch and new local Davao resident Ms. Bambit Gaerlan we went to a nice quaint place over at Central Quirino (Elpidio Quirino Avenue). It's a few minutes via a cab ride away from where I stayed in Davao.

This was officially the time we're meeting each other (after a long time); the last time of which she was still in Pasay City. We agreed to meet dinner time so I could get to roam around the place in the evening and get a few hours rest from roaming around the city the whole day.

The place had a no frills, no thrills kind of ambiance. I think they were really gunning for that backyard kind of feel so everything was out there in the open. The tables were a little greasy so I'm kinda expecting this to be a little adventurous. Lo and behold they've got pretty good ones in the menu!

Backyard Burgers always had specials which they promptly called a "Yard Sale!", but on that day that I visited, this was actually the one that's on promo:

Jalapeno Poppers - It's a lot like stuffed Jalapeno Peppers most Mexican/Spanish restaurants served stuffed with cheese and other things but this one's a little chopped/grounded up, quite creamy and probably had potatoes/starch into it instead of ground beef. The Jalapeno of course is HOT just the way I like it.

Hot Oil + a couple of these guys can get you started. What's even better is that the regular price of this is 80 Philippine Pesos. They had it on promo so you can actually have it for only 50 Pesos instead! Servings wise, its a bargain since it is relatively large. Just a couple of paper napkins and these guys over garlic ranch or maybe even ketchup would be nice. I had lots of these, let's leave it at that. You also have to line up, order first and pay for it then wait for it to arrive on your table.(photo on right "me in ordering action" LOL is courtesy of Ms. Bambit Gaerlan via IPAD)

The Backyard Burgers

I wanted to see what they have in store for me that evening. The friendly crew got us to choose how we wanted our burgers to be cooked. A chart explained how we'll be having our meat served =) now this is one thing I love already, I always have my steak medium rare and that's what I got!

I said OH! and took a closer look. Actually, this thing kinda looked familiar to me even if I didn't visit the store yet, it felt like de javu!.. this probably was in my dream!

This is their BB Garhsroom Burger - It's got lettuce, tomatoes, ketchup, mayo, onions, cheddar cheese, their own home made burger patty (which I heard is Australian in descent), garlic mushroom smothered in melted butter, bacon and a black sesame seed bun. Photos don't really lie. It looks good, it tasted good. This only costs a mere 130.00 bucks! It's a gourmet burger but not priced as one like those heavy ones you see in the malls.

I observed they had margarine/butter also on the bun which made the burger a little tasty. Though patrons might think this will overwhelm the burger, it was actually just right for me. Not for the faint of heart though because you might understand this is comfort food. Don't expect tofu on your burger here!

Because I want it bigger (of course!) this is the one I ordered. This is the BB Signature Burger (priced 250.00 but servings quite heavy!)! Definitely larger than the Garshroom, this one promises to be meatier, flavorful and packed with more of that beefy goodness men would absolutely love! Since it's gonna be mine, I made sure to have it Medium Rare. I didn't get disappointed because I got what I wanted! Lettuce, tomatoes, ketchup, mayo, onions, cheddar cheese, 2 huge home made beef patties, garlic mushroom smothered in melted butter, bacon and a black sesame seed bun.It also has strips of Yakiniku Beef, sweet ham and a their special sauce (a secret recipe!)

Good food, fair price, its a treat to have this be my dinner of all places "Davao!". Man, it was heavy that I couldn't take a bit off of it because it was HUGE! I thought all I would see here was seafood and small treats on corner lots but this one was good! I wouldn't mind having my comfort food fix in Backyard Burgers. So if you guys want to visit Davao real soon, you better make sure you got this on your list!

Just compare the size of my camera and the burger. Get the point? =) (Photo again by Ms. Bambit Gaerlan via her IPAD)

Thanks to wonderful and proud owners Juan and Rica Gadi who talked to us about their gourmet burger joint in Davao, I wouldn't mind coming back! =)

Capisce?!
