Enrique Gil Portrays Kidnap Victim in Paul Soriano's "Dukot" (Kidnap)

Saturday, July 02, 2016

We're now at the press conference of DUKOT, a film directed by Paul Soriano for Ten 17 and Star Cinema. The film stars Enrique Gil, Shaina Magdayao, Ricky Davao, Bing Pimentel, Ping Medina, Alex Medina, Bangs Garcia, Dino Pastrano and Christopher De Leon.

This is a story of kidnapping based on true events. A victim's tale of escape from ex military mercenaries, the gritty details and how it involves relationships and families. This is the first time that Enrique and Direk Paul is working together and last night's TWBA episode remarks Enrique Gil's hunger for tougher acting projects, his performance was said to be lauded by the Director. Enrique is still with Lisa Soberano in Dolce Amore and this film will prove his acting prowess, not just on romantic stories but now more on drama-action-thriller genre. Enrique has also done remarkable films such as Just the Way You Are abd Everyday I Love You which also did well on box office, they're hoping his different take and treatment will somehow make viewers see Enrique in a more serious light, capable of doing other things than love stories.

Paul Soriano says that even if the plot looks predictable, you will enjoy the ride!

A horrific crime is about to happen this July 13, hopefully when you get to see this, it will shed some light on what really happens in society, make you more aware, and perhaps make Enrique noticed in the international scene just like the other who have already successfuly penetrated it. I think he deserves it :)

TV5 and VIVA Launches Panday Reboot

Tuesday, February 09, 2016

Having been able to watch a couple of Panday movies and TV adaptations, here goes Carlo J. Caparas again to give the most revered hero in Philippine cinema another reboot as they launch Ang Panday on TV5. It is led by the hunky Richard Gutierrez as he ventures out of his former TV station as a freelance artist.

"Ang Panday" is about a blacksmith who needed to defend his people and family from evil people, dark power and mystical creatures which he will meet along the way. You're also going to get a dose of women since we can't just leave the hero single and without inspiration of course. So here, he's going to be with the sultry Bangs Garcia, and that might take this story somewhere.

Richard Gutierrez promises this will have more action, more drama and adventure that will be catering to young kids who need inspiration, or adults who just love seeing something good on the boob tube. I know most of you might be thinking that this franchise has actually been done so many times in so many ways by different channels but what makes this effective is the heroics, something that pinoys would relate and hope for that some day, some way there will be some hero that will save the day. Aside from that, Richard has been able to do a pretty good job in this hero business if you remember Mulawin and Captain Barbell to name a few. It was even mentioned in the introduction that he's the "Fantaserye King".

The big difference is Richard becomes the new Flavio whilst the new Lizardo is Christopher De Leon. Richard has definitely lost a lot of weight. His arms are unbelievably huge and he says he had to do a LOT of preparations for this character and he knows how big this is. He's going to make his own Panday because he knows he's got BIG shoes to fill. Richard says he got some help from Direk Mac Alejandre and Direk Carlo Caparas. It's going to be a 2016 version of Panday.

Christopher De Leon says this is one of his favorite movies and when they asked him to play Lizardo, the power, the dominion and premise of this series will make you wonder how the characters came about. They can travel through time and it's more than the usual Lizardo as he's got more powers now.

Panday starts February 29 8;30PM and weeknights 9PM thereafter on TV5.

Tom Rodriguez and Carla Abellana for No Boyfriend Since Birth

Saturday, October 24, 2015

This world is full of love... and when a woman thinks she's meant for one man, it'll be very hard to take that away from her. In her heart, in her mind, he's the only one... the man of her dreams. This is exactly what happened with Carla Abellana's character opposite Tom Rodriguez in the Regal Films project called "No Boyfriend Since Birth". They were highschool sweethearts, this seemed to her like a second wind. What do you think would happen if a woman with better disposition, more courageous and very determined demeanor suddenly had the chance to tell that man how she feels? If she wanted more than a business partnership, if she wanted it to happen... will this story of love finally start?

Here's a rundown on what happened during the grand press conference of NBSB including Direk Joey Reyes' synopsis of the story and interview with the cast Mike Tan, Bangs Garcia, Carla Abellana and Tom Rodriguez.

Here are some photos too from the Grand Press Conference:

Tom Rodriguez and Carla Abellana Stars in No Boyfriend Since Birth (NBSB)

Sunday, June 14, 2015

We had the chance to visit the set of No Boyfriend Since Birth, a film that brings together one of the most successful pairs in public TV Tom Rodriguez and Carla Abellana. TomCar has been able to transcend their past show together with Dennis Trillo and made MHL a common thing in Filipino homes, then made a film together last 2014 for So It's You. The team up today would make the same audience, the same thirsty romcom deprived people a little serving of Tom and Carla again. This is directed by Jose Javier Reyes and we also talked to him before the shoot.

Direk Joey says "I have students who are with me in this shoot, I'm passing on the torch to hopefully an even better generation. The story of this movie is about a girl who's obsessed about the guy she fell in love with in high school, whom she hoped is the guy that was named on a fortune telling session. She hoped it was Carlo, but when the guy came back there were just so many things that made it complicated. It's basically a comedy but we're deviating with something like a Wattpad story. It's going to be more simple. I worked with Carla in Somebody to Love and the most logical choice for the partner is Tom. It's been a while with Regal and this is a good comeback. Mike Tan will be like a third wheel, Bangs Garcia too. It tells about falling in love when you want to, when you had to but it won't work. Regal is trying to do something like Cinemalaya but for now they're thrust is working with young and promising directors. I'm line producing a lot of movies by other people, though not big budgeted, we're making them mainstream. There are so many successful ones now and hopefully we can give them a chance. We're also giving chances to new actors, because talents nowadays are so hard to find. They're lucky to last 5 years.

 Gerald Anderson and NBSB

In new breeds JM De Guzman is very promising although he was really very experienced already, Liza Soberano too, I may not be able to direct her but she's the next big thing. I love her face. Among the really new ones, I really believe in them. I'm back to teaching and back to La Salle, I'm doing a lot of things and I'm doing things that I want to do. Regal gives me independence and make new Directors, it's something that I wanted to do for a long time. I'm doing this for the new generation. It's an apprenticeship now but they decided to stay. No matter how many classes they take, it's different here. I even have my Assistant Director come from UP, there are really good ones there and I really encourage kids, if this is what they like I fully support them. This film will be released in September I don't know the next one but there are a few more that I'm going to do for Regal Films. I don't want to do MMFF anymore because it's commercial and you really have to battle with big studios there. Promo needs it. I loved the part where English Only Please because a blockbuster, it's not a great film but it's different and you offer something new and true with artsits like Jennelyn and Derek, I'm so happy for them. Also for That Thing Called Tadhana where the talents really shined."

When we sat down with them Carla Abellana said "We worked together for My Destiny last year but the movie, it's been a year. I believe it's very well known what NBSB means. I was 18 when I had my first boyfriend, every relationship was a chapter in my life, there's bitterness and sadness, there's always hurt and paint. The similarities between Carla and Carina is being hardworking, Carina on the other hand was just too expecting, I won't be like that. I listen a lot to Direk Joey because I know what demands he has for the character. She's a workaholic, young and determined wedding planner. She's got frustrations, I couldn't put down the script because I was always laughing alone and people were looking at me. It's that good and exciting. It's very fun. This scene is Carlo's brothers wedding. Carlo's ex ended up with his brother so you know it's awkward. There's a lot more into this story and you'll be feeling good after you leave the theaters, that I assure you. "

Tom on the other hand said "Here, I'm Carlo Mercado, I was medical student then but wanted to always be a photographer. I was Mr. Popular, a little cocky, attention of girls back in high school made him that way. He is funny but we haven't done much of it yet but it's something that a matured guy would probably do. I can relate to him, it's not love at first sight (the relationship with Carina), you always have to take a second look. He went to Canada and made his own adventures, sometimes it's a platonic thing in a different time. It happens in real life and friends find out that there's something there. People build from there, from a seatmate, to friendship, then to a relationship. I've seen unconventional things happen, and he understands it. That's what make this character very interesting and hopefully people would come to enjoy it when it shows in theaters soon!"

UNO Magazine: Covergirls Bangs Garcia and Dawn Jimenez

Wednesday, March 05, 2014

Sometimes, you need to grab a copy of UNO Magazine to realize that they know you. Men just like when we were all cave dwellers always had something in mind... And that's women. Sexy, luscious and hot in their form, you just can't stop fantasizing about them even in your sleep. Explosive or sweet, take your pick at UNO MAGAZINE's latest offerings as they unveil their covergirls for January and February... This is two of UNO's most hottest vixens. Didn't I tell you they were hot?

On the cover for the month of January is Bombshell Bangs Garcia. She's got spreads implying how explosive she is on and off screen. She also discusses bits and pieces about herself that you might have not seen yet in other interviews plus a couple or more photos holding up her guns and a tell all of what she's been doing these past few months (as she's been on a slight hiatus fromTV). She adds that she's also going to be in Dyesebel as an antagonist to gorgeous Anne Curtis. You'll love her, or hate her MORE soon but still, she's has everything you want in a girl. Watch out for that!

February's sweetest treat is OTJ's Dawn Jimenez. She's the controversial lady who gave it all to Gerald Anderson's character in the film. You never knew how sizzling hot it was going to be in the beginning and got surprised how feisty that scene is. If you haven't watched it, it was one of the film's highlights. When I met her on this mag signing event, she was a little quiet, reserved and had that mysterious thing going on for her. She's really pretty even if she's not that heavily made up. I like that.

On the mag though, she played a lot with candies and chocolate that could tittilate you even without mentioning that it's an aphrodisiac. She's hot in all the right places, especially her eyes. I love that on her.

Bangs Garcia felt like talking that evening. She told several stories about herself and what's happening soon. She felt the urge to probably update people since the last time we saw her was quite a long time ago. That same quality makes her attractive. I felt if she were your girlfriend you won't run out of stories. If you don't want anything boring, she could probably do that since she's very spontaneous. It's a trait I didn't know that would come from her. So that's probably why a lot of men adore her.

Two women out on the conquest of making you regret not firing that pistol, having that grenade explode, swim around in rich thick chocolate or bite off that sweet concoction. They've got that on several sexy outfits, large photos and more inside the January and February issue of UNO MAGAZINE. Definitely a collectors item! It's available in all leading bookstores, magazine stands and selected counters nationwide! Boys, you know you gotta have this! :)
