Blogopolis Into The Wild: Chuckie and Yen Dreyfus on Social Media Accounts Management

Saturday, November 16, 2013

I've met Chuckie and Yen Dreyfus last month I think when Patti Austin was around. I thought we were going to Malaysia a few months back but ended up in different cities instead. I find these guys really nice; and this short talk they're having in blogopolis is all about managing social media accounts.

Being consistent in the space is tops. Making sure the correct social media account is connected and merged with the same brand would give more integrity to the presence you are trying to make. They gave practical tips and said that the right way is not to concentrate too much on the number of followers, as he said you won't be able to interact and make that connection if you only look at those numbers. Quality over quantity, never sacrifice that if you plan to succeed. Be silly but be personal because sincerity matters. After all, "your social media accounts reflect who you are" he adds.

In a nutshell, they want you to inculcate a couple of things: Integration, consistency in content, honesty, being considerate, keeping the approach personal, put  importance of engagement with your audience and reciprocate if needed.

Chuckie and Yen are good people and I think that part is pretty unquestionable. What they present in public is a reflection of who they are in real life. That's a pretty great thing to share with the online community.. I'm so glad i attended Blogopolis :) teehee!

Blogopolis Into The Wild: Creating A Compelling Blog by Googly Gooeys

I haven't seen their blog honestly but I must say I am impressed with blog tandem Googly Gooeys. Their readership actually spans 50% worldwide and they are showing us how to pitch our blogs to advertisers. Making social media kits is a start.

Analytics and statistics is important. Now they have a picture of who reads their blog. Things like these can be offered to your advertisers. They create cute posts that are quite engaging, interaction is key too aside from the usual content.

Cult blogs are not that big but if you get exposed with that as well, then its genius!  You have to build your brand in a way where they will also follow you in social media. When you have posts in Facebook you have to also consider interactions. If it gets shared, liked and how many individuals have seen it says the Googley Gooeys authors.

Your media kit show your style and point of view so the advertisers understand your blog. Bank on your blog and always make it unique.

I'll probably work on mine hehe :)

Blogopolis Into The Wild: Jim Paredes and The new nation 2.0

Jim Paredes whom I met in the Kota Kinabalu trip a few months ago is now talking about The New Nation. He's comparing a lot of things from the past and telling us a little about doing morse code and smoke signals online.

How traditional media use bloggers now is unprecedented. Finding connections with people is good change, he even made a sample on how he's going to ship 600 tons of relief for Yolanda victims.

Without it, it would have been harder. If you are going to expose yourself to the world, do it the right way. You must have the bigness of heart when you're wrong. That's the best way to solve it on social media. I agree, that's awesome.

Updates later peeps! Live blogging in blogopolis!

Blogopolis Into The Wild: Blink

Blink a new platform for streaming movies, tv, live events and whatnot can now be purchased online theough BLINK.

There were a few glitches on her presentation but i think that's understandable. Wifi connection here isn't that stable. For what its worth, the service is quite cheap if you compare it to cable special screenings and on top of that you'll have more of hollywood since they literally get movies from these companies around three months after the actual release. Isn't that amazing?

Well, I have yet to deal with my own bandwidth I guess before I seriously consider doing this. I may be tempted to get this connected to my HD tv, do they have trials? I must ask!

Blogopolis Into The Wild: Social Media in the Newsroom

Tj Manotoc made us all a little old by asking us when we signed up for twitter. Starting from how personal initially their accounts were to making their accounts available in the newsroom, he started stating initial tools and how tweetdeck was useful.

He was made to imagine that Twitter was like Starbucks where you can probably say anything but most of the folks that would hear it are strangers. They did social media research in elections and it was really useful for pushing content. The public engages in live discussions and that is just like real life. It is a big boost for their corporation and the reach is definitely BIG.

It was a perfect avenue for crowd sourcing, sometimes their headlines or scoops come from social media. That just makes news to become an ongoing conversation. Much like online bayanihan. It's not just them pushing content.

Great guy, smart too. No wonder he's got a show based on Social media.

Stay tuned for more updates from blogopolis at intercon manila.

Blogopolis Into The Wild: Podcasting with Lori Baltazar

Lori Baltazar of Dessert Comes first says she can't tell everyone what she means so she immediately delved us into a video podcast.

She has invested on her crew and has made arrangements on doing this. She's on her third group of videographers which she believes is already "a charm". She says content is still king, it will benefit your viewers and it will also be able to capture your intended audience.

I must say she's one of the best food bloggers in the Philippines and what she's doing is a level up from the norm. She's a kind gal and she says that actually got her places in this industry. So for those who are still evil you better change hahahaha!

Blogopolis Into The Wild: Maria Ressa

Live blogging from this event!

Maria Ressa just finished her talk about journalism and blogging. She also touched on Typhoon Yolanda and how they covered everything online. She was also awarded a Rippler Award courtesy of Nuffnang Philippines.

Personally I still don't like her because of her views about public domain and stealing photos... But i won't discount the fact that she has helped media and social media in general. There I said it.
