Something good to know: HP Mobile Authentication

Friday, June 21, 2013

I own a multifunction HP printer and it has been with me for years. I only buy authentic HP cartridges but sometimes I often think about the people on the street who buy empty cartridges and probably make counterfeit versions of it. I fear that I'm probably not getting my money's worth if I buy just anywhere because chances are, I could be victimized by these unscrupulous individuals.

Good thing HP has security in place. Do you know about their HP Mobile Authentication?

Each box of these cartridges have their own QR code found on both HP Original ink and toner cartridge. These are its own security labels.

HP visual support 1 - hpcode

First, you need to visually check the label. These new HP Mobile Authentication labels feature a holographic image-shifting sticker other than just the QR code. Blackberry users probably have this by default. iPhone users on the other hand can probably download apps that read these things like the HP eSupplies app for iPhone available at the iTunes App Store; I've also seen some at the Google Play store.

If the cartridges/toner that you buy includes these new Mobile Authentication labels, those smartphone QR code readers I mentioned above can capture the security code.

HP visual support 3 - hpcodex

Then you just have to simply view the response from the HP website.Obviously if it's OK, it'll show the sign on the left. If you see otherwise, then it's fake. You should definitely get your money's worth. You should report the matter to authorities or HP. It's not classy in the first place right? =)

Busy... but I can do it!

Friday, May 07, 2010

I must say that it has been a very hectic month for me and my office mates because Boss is in town. This is part of his semiannual visit and we usually do reports up to our necks at these times and to tell you the truth; I am not surprised. The accuracy and reporting we do covers the activities we have done for that same period and we need all the documents to back up our projects for the next few months so we could appropriate funding for these too. On the day itself we also ran out of ink on our Desk jet printer so we had to run and get supplies from the administration department. They begged off and said we had to find our own cheap ink cartridges and just reimburse the cost later. In just the nick of time we had our slides printed out and ready to go and tell the tale of our project. I really got nervous!

When it was my turn to talk in the podium, I mustered up all confidence and started explaining the statistics. My forte was graphs and tables so I didn't waste time starting on numbers indicated on the spread sheet. I compared data from last year and made a few suggestions on how we can improve overall. I also made some plans how we can eliminate spending too much by allocating budgets for office supplies and printing on back pages if the documents are just for ordinary notes. I love how we got to start with the prints we had that day which my boss loved. Someday, somehow it showed how much we care for our business. I love how it worked for us efficiently and it's just almost half the price!

I Am Not A Millionaire...

Thursday, February 25, 2010

It looks like I am wasting my hard earned money again. I never print anything at home because of the fact that my actual printer is a little inferior and could not print photos. My Mom usually asks for them so she could get copies and put them into an album but I am a little bit contented just putting them onto my social networking sites. My sister forced me though to purchase ink cartridges yesterday so she could print a few documents at home. She is currently carrying a cast because she got her foot hurt in a freak accident. She chose to work at home because of this but it looks like this is also going to cost me a lot. My previous purchase of original cartridges just printed out 20 pages and just dried up after a couple of weeks. It's not the cheapest thing to buy at around $40 just for the black one and $45 more for the colored ink. Where am I going to get that money just so she could print a couple of old documents she should be just sending through office email in the first place!? She just wanted hard copies for crying out loud and she does not want to spend a single dime for it.

I do not want to take it against her because she is in that condition, but if I want to buy printer cartridges I would rather go with the cheaper ones available on line like what INKGRABBER offers. I do not mind getting one but it has to be reasonable. I would really want to help her in any way that I can but spending that much on printer ink is not justifiable. I wonder if it would be okay to ask if I could use her credit card instead ha-ha! I think that would be an awesome idea!
