Master Chef JP Anglo Takes Filipino Cuisine to the Skies via Philippine Airlines

Sunday, August 07, 2022

Saw this post from my nephew who is a flight attendant at Philippine Airlines about 2 days ago wherein celebrity Chef JP Anglo prepared island cooking in the skies. These are some of his personal favorite Filipino dishes and by far, fellow Filipinos and foreign guests enjoyed the meals served in this Manila-Los Angeles flight a few days ago.

This starts how Philippine Airlines Business Class meals will be created and crafted by JP Anglo that will be served in all their US and Canada flights which will begin this August. This includes nonstop flights coming from Manila to Los Angeles, Manila to San Francisco, stright flights from Manila to New York, plus Canada's well loved cities Vancouver and Toronto. This is part of PAL's efforts to elevate the fleet's dining experience as they service these routes in the US and Canada.

The B777-300ER aircraft has enough room for a stay at their concierge, flat laying beds, while you take a snooze for long haul flights with the flag carrier. If you want to experience this luxury flight, book it today via PhilippineAirlines.com. Because, why not right?! Imagine the things you can do with your family and friends behind you.

Won't these and the other dishes be good to showcase what our cuisine is all about? It's just the start, and I can't  wait to see if all these meals be served in every Philippine Airlines flight. It's practically a taste of home. Congratulations Chef JP!

Sam Concepcion Endorses Chef's Noodle Philippines

Sunday, April 13, 2014

It was a little crowded a few days ago in Chef's Noodle, the first international franchise of a brand from South Korea. I wasn't surprised because it is after all Sam Concepcion that is going to be there. Other celebrities like Grace Lee and couple Lloyd & Shamcey Supsup-Lee also endorsed this restaurant. It's a short 5 minute drive from where I live which is just in Robinsons Magnolia - Aurora Boulevard in Quezon City. They promise to serve the best Korean dishes and make your KPop dreams come true.

Sam Concepcion embodies the strong, active, energetic characteristics of Korean youth much like the same with Filipinos and he says he stays at joints like these because the food is good and the prices are affordable. They have the usual things on the menu but they also have specials. I'd have to say the truth and tell you that I didn't like the others in the buffet prolly because they were serving a lot of people during the launch and prepared them ahead of time. The food might be better when you order them on a regular day because as I said it was a little too crowded that afternoon that I had to eat outside the restaurant (food court I mean).

They have average quality maki/sushi, but quite good fried rice, jap chae and spicy tofu. I think they've got that spicy tofu nailed because the texture is still nice and I love the kick the sauce entails. If I'm going back I'll probably get to order that again.

A bit of trivia: this was also the place where Sam admitted the incident with Anne Curtis- so it did happen. He also said that he totally understands where she is coming from because he knows Anne was just probably being protective. Sam Concepcion is still going strong with Jasmine Curtis who is his girlfriend.

Make sure you visit Chef's Noodle if you want to satisfy your Korean dish cravings. They've got more items on the menu that would be really great to try like the Bibimbap, Haemul Seafood Pajun, Leek Shrimp Twigim, Chicken Kas, Spicy Dukbokki and their desserts ice cream/gelato. Their Operations Manager Ms. Nancy Go says they promise to delight you with more signature dishes and new ones, a welcome statement to customers that afternoon.

They have stores in Robinsons Magnolia, University Mall, Atlanta Center, SM North Edsa, The Block, Robinsons Malolos and soon in SM Megamall. Check out the channels below if you want to see special offers and contests from Chef's Noodle.

TOTAL Philippines Corporation and TotalGaz Supports Chef's On Parade 2013!

Thursday, March 07, 2013

One of the most awaited event in the industry and probably the most attended one too is Chef's on Parade 2013. The event also houses several competitions to pick the best of the best of what the Philippine restaurant and hotel industry has to offer. I've been lucky enough to have been able to attend this quite a lot because my brother's an Executive chef. He also competed in these meets but since he's in Ireland now, he's getting good representation from someone good looking. ME haha.

It was nice to see people again like Chef Bruce Lim (my favorite Chef!) and on this bit he also had Chef Emmanuel Stroobant (who's AFC programs I adore! ie Chef in Blank etc) whom he also worked with in Asian Food Channel. Chef Bruce and Monkey was actually doing an all Filipino pasta and sandwich menu via a workshop they were doing during this event. Yes, it was time Monkey talks! All their stoves both in and out of this particular kitchen (re: the whole venue) was powered and supplied by the good people of TotalGaz.

Junior Master Chef Pinoy Edition!

Friday, August 12, 2011

Judy Ann Santos - Agoncillo. She's a breath of fresh air. She's the undisputed Queen of Soap Operas in the Philippines. How can we live without her in Primetime TV? That's a question that was answered a couple of days ago when a new program was launched with her in the starring role. Unlike her other programs, this one was TOTALLY DIFFERENT and she's going to host here. Have you heard of Junior Master Chef?! Yeap! It's here in the Philippines and it's taking primetime viewing to the next level... watch how 60 Filipino kids from around the archipelago battle it out in the Philippine Master Chef kitchen this August!

Acting as judges in this prestigious program are some of the greatest Chef's that the country has ever produced. Chef Fernando Aracama and his 30 years of experience in the kitchen speaks for himself. Properly called "The Maestro" he will impart his knowledge and wisdom in the kitchen to these kids. Who can NOT know the one and only Chef Rolando Laudico? He's probably one of the pioneers in Pinoy Fusion. He's also got an ice cream flavor under his belt. Trained in America and France he'll surely be teaching these kids a thing or two about what Filipino cuisine should be in the future. Chef JP Anglo learned the best things in hawker woks and stalls in Singapore. He also is schooled in the best ones in Australia. Knowledgeable and experienced in Asian cooking, he'll tell us how we Filipinos fare in a global standpoint. These kids are very lucky they get to be with Judy Ann Santos Agoncillo and these three Chefs... they'll even tell you the stories behind their journey. Some heartbreaks in between will happen as they cut these kids into 20 pretty soon. Watch out for that!

Make sure you turn your remotes to ABSCBN Channel 2 and it's regional stations come August 20, Saturday as they launch this program with an "Appetizer: The Junior Master Chef Pinoy Edition Primer" so you get to meet the 60 young kitchen stars. If you want to see who will win a Million pesos and a lot of other things, watch "Junior Master Chef Pinoy Edition"'s regular showing on August 27 on the same channel. Capisce?! Get ready to cook!

Here are some photos from the Press Conference!

Yum-O! =)

Tuesday, April 13, 2010

I just suddenly laughed at myself a little. I think I know why but I don't know how to tell you this. Ahmm... the thing is, I think I can cook. I am not a professional chef like my brother or a seasoned cook like my Mom but I think I can cook anything that I have tasted. I think I guess I do. I'm into spicy stuff and most of the dishes I whip up are all spicy. It kinda ends up that way even if I don't want to. Probably because I am worried that if other people do not appreciate what I cooked, I'd be able to finish eating it ha-ha!

Mom still cooks for everyone though. I guess this evening she did already give in to some of the spices that I use for cooking. The pesto and butter and a lot of cayenne pepper helped a lot. I even almost finished eating the batch she prepared not knowing there was nothing anymore for my sister when she comes home. We're kinda in different shifts :) opposites actually. So on a weekday we do not have that much communication because when I come in, she's preparin to go out.

I'm planning to cook for some friends now. Some of them are HRM Graduates and I think I'll probably fare quite good. My brother is a professional chef anyway so maybe some of his skills might have brushed off on me. I wish! LOL
