Quezon Is Home

Friday, August 19, 2016

This August marks another year to celebrate "Buwan ng Wika", celebrating the country's national language. Did you know that this was put into law during the time of Manuel Quezon? We actually owe a lot to this man and obviously for the great things he's done for the country including our independence from the US.

Just this morning, I was among the few people invited to the unveiling of this gorgeous Fernando Amorsolo painting of Manuel Quezon at the Manuel L. Quezon University Campus in Quezon City. That might be a mouthful, but it's an honor bestowed a great man and rightfully so or we all wouldn't be where we are today without him.

The event was graced by MLQU Executives, Directors, officials, and former Speaker of the House Sonny Belmonte. He's my congressman too and I've been a QC boy all my life. It just is different when you see the actual painting, it's like taking something that is rightfully supposed to be here.

A man that has been honored here and around the world, his body lies in the Quezon Memorial Shrine, but his legacy continues. Bringing home this paintig of the great man to the MLQU Graduate School was just the rightful thing to do. MLQU just transferred this from Manila Campus, to it's new home in Quezon City. I think they are transferring everything here in a few years time. It's an offshoot of MLQU's success and they have the student population has doubled this year. Improvements are also being felt in professional schools, graduate school this semester. This is a mark of their cooperation with various institutions and industries.

Bloomberg has also been offering business courses, local and international business programs, all competency based and will in the end have Bloomberg certificates upon finishing the course. They have been active in doing these for professionals, a lot of companies do this with Bloomberg terminals and they have signed an agreement with MLQU the Bloomberg laboratories open to all that wishes to enhance their qualifications now that people are competing with other countries.

They see the need to compete with that. They will have equivalency programs too. MLQU will offer these programs with international qualifications, getting all these degrees in 4-5 years. They are planning to do this with the thought of being the Harvard of Asia. So for those looking for further studies, they're just here at MLQU beside the MRT Station in Kamuning QC. This is in cooperation with East West Educational Specialists. This is good news. They also have real estate management certifications soon as they partnered with CREBA. MLQU will be tapping Engineering, Academe and everything else soon and not just concentrating in Law which is their primary course. The drive to get their students quality and relevant education.

They are just starting.

One Great NUVALI Dirt Weekend 2012!

Friday, November 16, 2012

What is it with Dirt and Men? I often ask that my self but find the thought quite amusing. I'm one of those guys who like it rough and tough. I've been riding bike's since I was 4 and it's one of the most liberating experiences to be in. The wind in your hair while you put the pedal to the metal, riding up bumps and humps on the road or just plainly doing it for sport you kinda know why you love doing it. NUVALI just up the ante last weekend and got another one happening. I've attended the one last year and this time it's NUVALI DIRT WEEKEND 2012!

Different cycling events, a whole dirt bike course and several competitions. If that doesn't make your day complete then I don't know what will. It's so nice to hear we've got a place like this down south. I personally am loving every bit of it!

The sky was definitely clearer. It probably knew what was going to transpire the whole day. Bike enthusiasts from almost everywhere in the metro and nearby towns came over and butt heads like mountain goats because after all, this is also a competition. It's a challenge against yourself and a challenge against other compatriots who also love the sport.

What's quite nice to see is that there are families who actually join too. If they are not joining the competition, they are also there to support their kids or family member. Case in point is this kid who I saw rummaging through the mud with his bike. I just felt a little nostalgic after seeing this. I wanted to grab someone else's bike there and ride again. NUVALI just does wonders!

I even bumped into a few photographers I know. This one's Carlo Fresnido, a buddy from D60 Krew. I used to go out with him and shoot street with the other Krew members. We don't do that much street anymore and have our own niches while he on the other hand has been doing this for a while now. Although I miss shooting with these guys I'm not surprised he kinda rested a bit with photography and concentrated on bikes now. I share the passion. Plus I heard he's doing good too, I wonder if he placed on his heat that afternoon. I'll ask him later. Good job on this new thing you're doing Carlo! You better be good! ;)

We got a little inspired even under the sweltering heat of the sun and took some shots off the course. As you can see, it ain't a joke. It's so nice NUVALI wants to keep the populace healthy by doing these competitions. Thank god AYALA thought of building a evoliving community like this, I'm just so impressed. Then I saw some of the kids join the competition. Called one by one, they went through the course like pros. This you gotta see!

Seeing them go through the course just made me realize I need to get out and get back to cycling sometime soon. It's been a while since I did that and I'm a little afraid if I can handle my weight on this contraption LOL! But for what its worth I'll see what I can do. After all, we all need to START somewhere right?

I wish I could stay in NUVALI forever. But we all got to go back to our offices and work again. I'm so glad to have seen this again. I am inspired to build a bike now, I might just take their events seriously next time and not just talk on the sidelines. I learned a lot on this second visit, it taught me a lot about building dreams and finding your passion... much like these people who have been supporting their loved ones and cheering them on with what they do. This would be a lifestyle I'd want to have pretty soon.

Plus they've got tons of restaurants and shops on other areas of NUVALI, you should definitely come and visit if you want to have a different view with your family and loved ones.

Medical Education and More!

Monday, April 30, 2012

The medical industry has surely benefited a lot of people. Doctors and Medical Practitioners on the other hand had to always be updated. The need for education and special courses is truly evident. The standard of education makes each and every time significantly important; so when there is something to learn more about the profession, you need to go somewhere where you can trust and learn the ropes with. After all we are saving lives. In this case, a medical teaching course would surely equip you with what you need. It is much of a necessity rather than an option these days.

Aside from the actual medical duties, management education is essential to running a business. This is an integral part in hospital operations because just like any corporation you need to manage finances in order to purchase supplies, carry logistics and pay for the back office operations. Where else can you get a proper medical management course that fits the description and simply makes it better for students here and abroad? That seems to be one question that Master Nurses and Doctors would probably benefit. If there was one thing that could also get the instructors some educational time, a teach the teacher course for doctors should also be available for those who would want to advance their studies. Maybe it's time we think about our choices in education. It may be too simple to even talk about but we need to totally understand that these are not supposed to be in the back seat. When you discover something more you would love to understand how it would help develop your current functions. I would enroll something like a consultant interview course if I were you. It'll be easier for the brand and institution you are building later on.

For what it's worth it is still the people you want to serve who deserves utmost care and medical care. Make sure you get them attended on first before anything else then check out http://www.medicalinterviewsuk.co.uk too.

One Hyundai Club: Life in Style 2012 Bachelors Cookoff!

Monday, February 20, 2012

Being a single guy has it's perks! But most bachelors come to a point that they have to fend for themselves; without enough knowledge in the kitchen it'll be doubly harder to live a life tantamount to the success a person drives for. A holistic approach may suffice but without thinking about your lifestyle in particular it'll be just plain HARD. Owning a car/SUV these days call for a lot of things, but as surprised as most owners that I went with this afternoon they didn't know what they signed up for!

This is ONE HYUNDAI CLUB!

It was so nice to experience what it would be like to own one of their cars; let alone enjoy the perks that come with it!

You see, being a One Hyundai Club member would entail that you get to have this particular Life In Style 2012 Journal, something that they at HYUNDAI think every owner truly deserve. They want to celebrate the good life. Now they've got the country's greatest premium brands too covering areas such as living, shopping, dining, beauty and wellness, travel and leisure. It's about time we live in style!

This journal contains perks and privileges every month. Huge discounts on major products and services are available too.

It's definitely going to change how you live life; it's designed to change your activities. The life you deserve doesn't necessarily need to be expensive and HYUNDAI takes care of it.

Bachelor Cooking at First Gourmet Academy

It was my first time to attend an event where I had to cook. I'm no stranger in the kitchen but I never cooked gourmet food. Mine was more of a "survival thing" otherwise I wouldn't eat while living alone. I can whip up something from things that I find in the fridge. Though this time it's way different.

Diploma Courses/Full Courses available for those who aspire to become great Chefs!

Chef Mats Loo from Sweden came out and instructed us to put our toques and aprons on; some of us were first timers in the kitchen and I've seen quite a number of accidents happen in these events but good thing nobody got cut or burned their food. Otherwise they would have ended up hungry for dinner LOL.

First things first, he told us the value of cleaning our hands. It's a must for anybody serving food to clean up otherwise someone would get sick and literally poison a few hundred people (in commercial setting). After that he told us to prepare the ingredients (mise en place - MEEZ ahn plahs). That's the fancy French term for having all ingredients prepped and ready to go before we started to cook.

Just look at the POSH + COMPLETE kitchen and you just know how complicated this is gonna be. Heheh well hopefully not so much for me.

I saw some of them were a little bit nervous, particularly the ones who just started to work in the kitchen today. Probably like me they prefer playing basketball outside than cooking at home with Mom LOL! Tough luck because we're doing Chocolate Mousse, Coq au Vin, Polenta and Minestrone Soup. The name alone made them more nervous eh?! =)

So after washing our hands to the tune of One Happy Birthday song...

Chef Mats Loo instructed us to go to our stations and start cutting vegetables. Some were cubed, diced, julienned, and minced. We cleaned up the ingredients as we did this mise en place requirement before we started cooking. I think I fared well though I'm no slicing expert. :)

For those who were EXTRA nervous, there were experienced students from the Academy to help them if needed. Happy crowd!

Chef Mats Loo whipped up boiled cream + Sugar, added Chocolate, Johnny Walker and voila! That's going to be dessert! This needs to be prepared ahead of time since it would need to chill in the fridge.

Mise en Place complete! I think I did good on this one eh?! =)

The equally good looking guy you see in this bit is Jerth. He's a proud Hyundai Accent owner and this is consequently his third car. He didn't know though that on this particular brand and purchase that it'll have perks like these. It felt really special. One email invite he got from HYUNDAI and that started the ball rolling. Now that he's a One Hyundai Club member he's excited to try out the other perks that are available in the journal. He had a glimpse of the journal for 2012 and he finds it quite nice. He's impressed at what they and HYUNDAI's partner establishments had to offer as most of them are either free or with a HUGE discount. Just like him and the rest of they guys in this cooking class, we had a pretty nice and productive time. We really are learning a lot!

Plus the view on top of Capitol hills was spectacular! I think this is the highest point in the metro. The golf course and the huge houses too was a treat to see! If you are cooking in this ambiance, wouldn't you be inspired?! :)

This is the end product! After a few hours of cooking this is Minestrone Soup! It was sweet and fresh just like the veggies on it! This one cooked the fastest! =)

Coq Au Vin with Creamy Polenta - this is a little labor intensive since you need to have a reduction of the red wine first, then after adding beef stock you need to reduce it again. But I'm telling you guys it's totally worth it! I specifically added a lot of pepper on my Chicken and seared it on the pan. It tasted like steak that even I was impressed with my own cooking! Now that barely happens! =) I'm so happy how it turned out! The polenta was so creamy and nice too! It was my first time cooking polenta and I loved it!

The Chocolate Mousse was simply divine! I didn't know it was so easy to make. I already bought the ingredients from the grocer and plan to make it this weekend. Oh my, there's already a change in lifestyle there... I'm beginning to cook gourmet now! Haha =) Isn't that neat?!

Now who says getting a HYUNDAI wouldn't change your life?!

Capisce?!

PS Thank you to the wonderful people at One Hyundai Club and First Gourmet Academy! I really enjoyed the time spent with you guys! =)
