Johnoy Danao, Ebe Dancel and Bullet Dumas on IISA Concert at the KIA Theater

Tuesday, April 03, 2018

They are no strangers to the Philippine music scene but have yet to really gain thread in mainstream. Hard to admit, such talented performers like them don’t really get enough spotlight in the business. That’s going to change because they’ve pretty much made headway in their previous concerts and I think they don’t mind if it would take time, they are taking the next step. They are showcasing their musical talent with surprise guests and Manila String Machine in a concert called IISA slated on June 9 at the KIA Theater. This is good news.

IISA means being one, as Ebe puts it, “It’s a team up, it’s what we’ve become, we weren’t really friends at first but now even our family members know each other. We were supposed to do it this March, but we had problems putting this up. We now have a following, so we are doing this as a treat to 3D fans. We know each others quirks, we don’t even fight, 3 different personalities but we are like a family. It’s a whole army with us, so our rehearsals would require a lot of time to do that. We also have friends we would like to invite in the concert.

Bullet Dumas adds “Manila String Machine will be with us, so it’s going to be different. When we started we had low expectations, so every time we had an opportunity, small gigs, the singapore one, we make it memorable for everyone. When you watch us, we won’t waste your time, now it’s a bigger venue, bigger things to do in that show. Decisions are also easy in our group because we are three, we know each other personally.”

Johnoy Danao says “We thought about it at first, we have our group now, the concept is about being on stage, even if we are a lot of musicians, it’s only going to be one music. In terms of records, we did random things, our vibe is just like a gathering of friends, if one sings one thing, we do it even if he can only sing the chorus. If they go to our show, they’ll hear something different, it’s like an anniversary, like a treat for people and we have bands, a full orchestra to make you happy.”

On June 9, please come to KIA Theater and purchase tickets on Ticketnet 911555. If you have inquiries you may go to the 3D or our personal pages. It’s their third time to be together and trust me, it’ll be good for people who love REAL unadulterated Filipino music.

DAMA: Danao, Dancel, Dumas at the Music Museum

Saturday, January 23, 2016

Music and OPM purists must have been sweating bullets when they hear these three legendary singer-songwriters coming together - to perform in a one night concert this February 19, 2016. It's Johnoy Danao, Ebe Dancel and Bullet Dumas in a show entitled DAMA, as they serenade you with music that encompasses love, intimacy, heartbreak, recovery and everything in between. It'll make you close your eyes, question your existence and get carried away with music that only these three great musicians can only produce.

They are also known as 3D in the circuit and they have been doing tours for the past few years. This time, they're making it even more special by having the Manila String Machine play these beautiful songs with the three masters. It'll be adding an extra sensual dimension with their music as they do it with a full on string quartet and a grand piano, breaking the usual notes that people already love in their music. It'll be very strong and will be very loved by their loyal following. They've also garnered sold out concerts in Singapore and elsewhere so this is much of a treat for you.

For those who don't know, the name Ebe Dancel is synonymous to hits like "Hari Ng Sablay", "Wag Ka Nang Umiyak", and "Tulog Na" to name a few. Whilst Johnoy Danao did "Dapit Hapon", "Ikaw at Ako" and "Aking Mahal" to name a few. Bullet Dumas on the other hand did "Psst...", "Ninuno", and a lot of originals after his stint and noteworthy participation in the Elements National Music Camp a few years ago. Now they're in one show, so if my hunch is right, it'll be something really good to look forward to. This is consequently their first year anniversary, they're bringing out the guns on the show. Expect that.

DAMA is one of many that Vandals on the Wall and Gabi na Naman Productions will do this year. They're spearheading a movement that will enable pure home grown OPM acts to be in the forefront of the music industry. If you wish to get tickets to the show, please contact Miley Habito at 09175480402 today!

Tanduay Rhum Rockfest Year 6!

Saturday, October 06, 2012

There are rockstars.... and there are rock gods. The Philippines has got a lot to thank for because the industry is flourishing. That was the thing these guys chose to talk about a few days ago. All for the love of rock! Mind you they just started talking about it after the first question was thrown in. Check out these photos and see if you know some of them! =)

Chito Miranda of Parokya Ni Edgar! He says how can the music industry die if we've got our band playing a lot of gigs these days. We've got our own set of followers and if you know how much they adore us, that statement about the music industry dying is just not true!

Kamikazee frontman Jay Contreras agrees. Then laughs it off with PNE vocalist Chito Miranda. The question and answer portion just became hilarious!

Good looking Rico Blanco. He's so happy to sit beside his rock buddies and about this awesome opportunity to work with them.

Urbandub's Gabby Alipe is also going to be there. Isn't that great?!

Tanduay, the Philippines' number 1 rum knows that in this day and age people need to start paying attention to the talents that we have in the country. They are launching the biggest and grandest series of concerts in Luzon, Vizayas and Mindanao as part of the Tanduay Rhum Rockfest Year 6. They have been doing it a few years already and the thing is, the best bands, rock gods and personalities this country have will perform with their compatriots to celebrate another year of Philippine Rock Music! Tanduay knows their market starts with the new generation, the young professionals who enjoy having a couple of rounds of their product. If you go out at night, enjoy mixed drinks, chances are one of the main ingredients of each glass you take probably has Tanduay Rhum!

One of the inspirations of why I went into bands a few years back is this guy right here. When I see him perform, its just goosebumps! Wolfgang and its front man Basti Artadi is here!

Good friend Calde Calderon of Chicosci was there. It was so nice to meet him, do you remember the time I interviewed him here? =) It's cool and good looking people like him that make me believe music can transcend genres and stereotypes. Just look at Chicosci's music and you know what I mean!

I had so much fun listening to their candid answers, the host from channel 4 did a pretty good job hosting.

Rap superstar Gloc 9 thought he was the odd man but imagine how he became the only rapper who will perform with these rock artists. I was excited to see him perform that afternoon!

Ebe Dancel will also be there among the tons of bands that will perform for the 6th installment of Tanduay Rhum Rockfest!

Gloc 9 performed Hari ng Tondo where Denise his protege was part of. It was awesome!

If that wasn't crazy enough I had goosebumps listening to them play Sirena with Ebe Dancel! It was awesome I tell you!

Three BIG Concerts in Three different regions, this is the Tanduay Rhum Rockfest Year 6 paying homage to OPM and artists of this country! If you don't watch, you'll surely regret it!

Artists, producers, people from Tanduay signed on this commitment wall in support of Original Filipino Music!

The concerts will be in Cebu on October 12, Davao on October 19 and Manila on October 26, 2012! Don't worry if you don't have tickets yet because it's so easy to get one to see these people perform live!

If you want tickets to the show, you don't really need to shell out money. For those who want VIP tickets, simply purchase 2 bottles of Tanduay 5 Years 750ml and 1 bottle of Tanduay Light 750ml on selected 7-11 outlets nationwide! Bactidol Idol: The Best Performances from the 12 Hour Sing-A-Thon!

Friday, May 18, 2012

Talk about clowning around with your vocal chords Bactidol just concluded their BACTIDOL 12 HOUR SINGATHON at the Red Box Eastwood City. It was a gorgeous way of challenging people to sing for 12 hours straight taking your voice to extremes; but not to worry because simply gargling off at the start took care of them to last this long. Hosting the event was Chico and Delamar from RX 93.1. Being a silent rusher I was so excited to start off this program with media guests and these duo via a warm up to get things started.  People were even singing along with me to the tune of Mc Arthur's Park!

They even showed us how to gargle properly. This would actually make me safe from getting infections or anything that would start a sore throat, it was so cool to see them so game!

Then we immediately went to our rooms and started to check out 21 teams  pitting out to win the coveted 20 thousand pesos up for grabs if you survive the whole 12 hour ordeal. Chico and Delamar also hosted a side event called Bactidol Idol where a lot of guys and gals would get their friends to vote online to see who wins!

Some guys had to sing women's songs and vice versa. It was one of the most memorable things they probably had to endure in order to win too. Aside from that, real deal recording stars were judging you as well. It was hard but they were more than happy to sing for these three!

No you are not dreaming! Imagine Kitchie Nadal, Barbie Almalbis and Ebe Dancel scrutinizing every scream or belt you can imagine coming out of the contestants. There were a few hits and misses for sure but it was more all for clean fun!

We tweeted every hour and got so many people asking to join this contest but the slots were already filled up within 2 days. There were even backup teams but unfortunately the ones who started it are as STRONG as ever! Nobody wanted to give up and nobody wanted to give up their slots to them either. They have tried various tactics in order to last the whole 12 hours. Some of them were jumping up and down, spinning around,  some were drinking, eating and even got them for free just by choosing certain playlists. There is one particular thing though that surely made them  better contestants and that's when they all gargled Bactidol in the beginning!

Who lasted 12 hours? Who made the cut and made it to the top?

Bactidol 12 Hour Singathon: One Great Night!

Sunday, April 01, 2012

We Filipinos love to sing and it was a grand time last Saturday to do just that. Imagine 8 or more of your barkadas singing to the tunes of 60's 70's 80's 90's and today's music in the confines of the posh VIP rooms of RED BOX in Eastwood City. It's time to test out how literally effective Bactidol is so they whipped up this 12 hour Singathon for these challengers. The winner will win 20 thousand pesos in cold cash just by finishing the whole 12 hours... That's from 12pm to 12am. This grueling task isn't easy but they did the best thing to protect them from sore throat and oral infection, they gargled with Bactidol!

It was also the first time that I saw two of the most talkative people in the morning Chico and Delamar. Being the silent rusher that I am I grabbed to opportunity to capture them with my lens whilst hosting the show. They even made me sing before the countdown as a warmup for the whole evening, but it was futile singing "I will survive" when I'm a guy LOL!

Then when the activity started i monitored the teams inside the rooms. Thinking about how many songs they had to sing that evening, they had several strategies on how to accomplish staying up those 12 hours. Some slept while others just kept awake, some just stood up and even danced to keep their energies up but it was one thing that everyone did before they started; they all gargled Bactidol.

Red Box Eastwood was so full of singers, non singers and wannabes but it was all for fun! They all sang to the tunes without hesitation. They were not allowed to semi sing these numbers or make a poem out of it. They needed to sing with all their hearts even if it rntails belting like divas or growling like rockers. Some even sang for food or drinks so they generally kept themselves hydrated and fed throughout the evening.

Aside from the 12 hour singathon, there was a challenge room where you can pit against another competitor. This will also need the help of your friends because the votes will be through online means. Some did good while others miserably failed but they were never worried and did their best for FUN! They will win lots of prizes courtesy of Bactidol of course!

In the room, they did not only have us as audience but some celebrities went in on the fun! Kitchie Nadal, Ebe Dancel and Barbie Almalbis took everyone by surprise. They laughed and sang along with us to the delight of spectators. They even visited the rooms to check on the contestants, it was a great night indeed!

The night ended with a remarkable achievement because officially NO ONE gave up their spot and endured the whole 12 hours of videoke kingship at Red Box Eastwood. It only meant one thing, they all won 20 Thousand Smuckeroos! Yes it was that easy to win it because they all gargled BACTIDOL right from the start. I'm sure no one had problems singing more after that!

Congratulations to all the winners and for those who would like to continue voting for their peers who also joined the Bactidol Idol contest you still have time to vote on their Facebook page!
