A Full Online December MMFF this 2020

Friday, October 23, 2020

MMFF is the annual festival that is held every year and this Christmas, MMDA and their partners would want to end it with a happy note. There are other opportunities and platforms so they partnered up with Globe and make it possible for them to pursue showcasing our movies to a worldiwde audience via Upstream and pay via GCash for the tickets in G Movies.

Danilo Lim the MMDA Chairman says “The MMFF is part of Christmas, a tradition and in this pandemic we will never let it not happen. We got 5 outfits who sent their plans and Globe is the most attractive one. The plan is not just to make the Filipino homes happy, but bring this worldwide! What we have been doing will now be virtually done, from premieres, launches, with health protocols observed. We can watch these films at home, to present these movies online.”

Ernest Cu the Chairman of Globe says “We almost didn’t experience this year’s MMFF as audiences await their favorite artists to appear on screen. Movie houses may not be the best place to gather and in Globe we try our very best to provide solutions, to recreate the Christmas we love digitally with our partner Upstream so millions of Pinoys around the world can access it virtually, and access it on Video on Demand. We also are fighting online piracy, illegal streaming and copying of content, but on our campaign we try to educate more. To not affect the livelihood of content creators, film makers and their families, to lose that and not be able to put out good quality films today. We are one of the first companies to promote great Filipino films to the global audience through GMovies. We thank the MMDA and we hope to bring more cheers to Filipino homes and keep the spirit of the holidays alive. Globe has always been able to deliver like GCash in the market, it will also have gaming, goods through the app itself. Using our technology of Gcash, GMovies and Upstream, we can now watch in our homes bringing solution to Filipinos for their everyday needs. The MMFF is important to not deprive our industry of an outlet, a medium to also earn a living. We try to bring also our film makers to a global stage, to make them thrive and grow. We can bring the Filipino content to the likes of South Korea, it all starts with a dream!”

Quark Henares says “You will now be able to watch through Upstream all the content til the MMFF season. To signify the signing of these documents, we raise our mobile phones on screen to officially start it.”

“G Movies now has a new feature, the new platform initially just offer tickets. This pandemic, we offer new ways to access content by using a few taps starting November 14, we partner with Globe, Upstream and MMDA to make this possible. We spent with the Upstream team to discover content, make this seamless and easy to use. We will also be using Gcash for payments to make it more accessible to the public. Potentially to pay everything over the counter.”

Dondon Monteverde says “We are happy that amidst the uncertainty, we opened up this venture to connect with Globe’s infrastructure to now be able to stream it here in the Philippines and abroad! This is a big deal to entertain our audience, this platform was made for content producers. To bring it abroad. For those who are excited we are bringing this to you, we hope for your support in the continuance of MMFF 2020, right at your own homes. Right now we are attacking things differently, with the strong infrastructure of Globe our material is already going out to our audience. We are taking it a step at a time, to bring it all to Filipinos.”

According to the MMDA “We have 4 official entries per script but deadline has been extended to finalize everything mid November. The price of tickets will be 250 pesos and the whole family can watch in one device without going out in the cinemas. Also, there will be a virtual parade of stars so you won’t miss anything at all. So guys, are you ready for the new December MMFF 2020?

This will be good!

Pay Government Dues on PayMaya

Saturday, July 18, 2020

I know you're worried, you haven't paid your government dues like taxes, SSS, payment for your license at PRC, registration for DTI, PagIbig, your passport renewal at DFA, your traffic violation at MMDA, your birth certificate at NSO, your NBI permit, but never fret, PayMaya is gonna save you now.

The superhero cashless payment option now accepts these government agency transactions, making it easier for you to pay on time when you need to, without going to the government offices at the time of pandemic. Chirping away worries, your payments could reflect instantaneously or after a few days and you don't get hassled or fear catching the dreaded virus because you didn't go out from the comforts of your home.

Download the PayMaya app now on Google Play and the App Store. I've been using it for a lot of things and not just that, I even get cashbacks when I least expect it and sometimes get 100% of the money I spent. I'm not even joking!

A Short Talk with Senatoriable Francis Tolentino

Monday, December 07, 2015

I haven't really talked to former MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino but I've seen what he's done with the Tagaytay City and how it transformed from a provincial one to a city of character. I live nearby Alfonso, Cavite so I do have to pass that area quite a lot of times so I can go and harvest coffee. The man showed his intentions of running for the Senate and I've never had any knowledge of what he's been doing aside from the MMDA traffic which has probably had most of the information about him on media. During the small luncheon, he announced his platform would be for the greater empowerment of local government units, strengthening of disaster preparedness, sustainable and protective care for the environment, better health care and women empowerment.

Tall order? Yes, achievable? That remains to be a question on everyone's minds. He took time answering all of those questions about traffic, infrastructure and MMDA. The impression I had with his answer is, people weren't looking at the big picture. Some on the table were probably sick and tired of traffic talk but of course, we had to know what MMDA and he had to do with it. The general population would probably thing MMDA only does traffic management right? No, what isn't said on newspapers or on TV with time constraints is probably the other things that MMDA had to do on their mandate. From development planning, transport and traffic management, solid waste disposal, flood control and sewage management, urban renewal, zoning and land use planning, health and sanitation, and public safety. Aside from that, they've been ailing to actually work with other government agencies and local government offices. From the governor, the mayors, the councils, the barangays, all have been working thoroughly to make your MMDA work for you. Do you see how complicated that sounds? Exactly. They've been doing that for the past few years, and most would just think of the office when there's problems in EDSA. If they were just doing traffic, then there's really no more time for the other things they're doing. Chairman Francis Tolentino also opened the ferry system in Pasig River in two weeks, he also is responsible with the Papal Visit security arrangements. There are more, and it's even tiring to talk about credentials and accomplishments in that short span of time.

Here's a video of our interview with the senatorial candidate on video:

Interview with Francis Tolentino by kumagcow

I know you probably have reservations, I do with any person I interview. A choice have to be made though in the upcoming elections. It's nice to get to know people and what they've done, not just the things we read off newspapers or watch on TV. He's a good man, he also has done a lot and that I think needs credit. I'm certainly not endorsing anything but what I've learned during this interview is,  to actually know the person first and not just concentrate on bad things said about them. We should definitely do the legwork of research, check what they've done in the past because after all, it's our country we're talking about here and not just a single government agency. If you deem it important for his platform, his plans in legislation to be apt for your taste as a Senator, don't take my word for it. Do your own research, read up, or even ask him on social media. There are ways you know! We should definitely start our future right and that entails work.

Francis Tolentino is being sought after Miram Santiago's party, but he's gearing towards Rodrigo Duterte. He's still independent though. It's your choice.

Success Story of a Public-Private Partnership: TV5 MMDA Metro Manila Traffic Navigator

Wednesday, August 03, 2011

MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino discusses something to Ms. Luchi Cruz Valdez over dinner at the Shangrila Edsa Plaza Hotel Palawan Ballroom.

W
hen PNOY (last year's SONA) called for corporations to work together with the government one of the first to heed his call was TV5. For starters they never thought of anything like this in the beginning. After brainstorming one lonely night they noticed some of the traffic updates that MMDA had on their whiteboard; what's funny was they kept on erasing this valuable data. Minds met and they did the next obvious thing. They digitized this information and got it online. Now this valuable information is available and has been helping thousands of Filipino commuters in the metro!

Paolo Bediones and Cheri Mercado hosted the event!

Now ranked in the top 10 most visited sites in the country, the TV5 MMDA Metro Manila Traffic Navigation site was launched formally this August 1st, 2011. TV5 Executives, MMDA Government Officials and the media were there to witness a momentous event in Philippine history. Only a few hundred thousand pesos of tax payers and private funds were used to set this all up which I think is ingenious even if MMDA was poorly funded this year. They used it wisely on information technologies perfectly designed and executed for the local Philippine transportation scene. They thought of the commuters and the people behind the wheel. I couldn't be more happier when I used it that time!

True enough, I had to leave the event a little early than usual because I had to rush back to the office. I gave this a shot and saw that C5 was a little better than EDSA. I got to Eastwood without a hitch even if my cab driver was on a snails pace. The information was real time so I already knew the situation before I went there. It's practical and ingenious I wish I had thought of that!

Mr. Roby Alampay told the audience about when and how it started. It was really a meeting of the minds between them and the people at MMDA. Today they can tell more than just the traffic situation. They have a database that an later on be used for trending, metrics and what not. This is valuable information that wasn't used before this project came about.

Mr. Carlo Ople demonstrated how the iphone and IPAD app would work. He showed more than just the actual system view available on the web. The latest headlines they have for INTERAKSYON one of the flagship news programs under TV5 were also seen in the application. You can even save it for offline reading. It had a pretty nice interface too.

Ms. Luchi Cruz-Valdez said that it has always been the goal of TV5 to bring information to the people. They have been doing this already with their other programs and assures their news and current affairs programs via pushing information to the applications will deliver just that!

Check out their website http://mmdatraffic.interaksyon.com for the latest traffic updates in Metro Manila. Major roads are currently in the system but they will have more later on this year once upgrades are done. To TV5, MMDA and the Filipino People congratulations! This is the best news I've ever heard this year!

PS

Thanks to Nuffnang for hooking me up on this event!
