VIVO Announces Chinese New Year Photo Contest Winner

Saturday, February 17, 2018

Rhea and Kat in action during the CNY Photowalk

I've enjoyed this photowalk that Vivo arranged a couple weeks ago. It was part of their Chinese New Year celebrations and what better way to do that but by doing a photo contest in the Year of the Eart Dog. There were about 18 of us walking the streets of Binondo and nearby establishments, armed with their newest phone model VIVO V7+ with it's 24MP front cam, it would be easy capturing the sights and sounds of Binondo.

I remember taking advantage of the camera’s HDR mode for all my shots. I also got to shoot with it and got stunning images as long as the phone's display. Selfies were so easy with it's portrait bokeh mode, making creamy blurred background a cinch for any regular joe. The Vivo V7+ also has got the professional mode which is like the manual mode of DSLR cameras. Adjustments for any particular setting you do in DSLR cameras, you can do it here. Vivo’s Chinese New Year Photo Contest also meant Vivo phone users got the chance to make entries out of their Chinese New Year themed photos and upload them in their Instagram accounts. They stood to win a brand-new Vivo V7+ in the process, and you know who won? It's this lady here, Angela Palacio.

Angela Palacio

Her entry with chinese lanterns illuminated on the streets, won her the new phone!

Aside from winning the brand new phone, she got her entry posted and be showcased at the Chinese New Year Photo display at Lucky Chinatown together with the bloggers and celebrities who enjoyed the activities as well.

I would like to take this bit to thank VIVO for having us and the rest of the bloggers. I love how some of my followers tagged me because they saw the photos in Lucky Chinatown later on. They posted my shot of the church, that was awesome!

If you have questions about the phone, please visit their official website www.vivo.com/ph or their channels on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/VivoPhil), Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/vivophil/) and Twitter (https://twitter.com/vivo_phil). Congratulations Angela! Enjoy the phone!

DSC_0031

This is one of the few occurrences that I have to do long exposures. To tell you honestly I hate bringing tripods because mine is heavy and bulky. With the whole schedule riding on 8PM to 4AM I could have just concentrated on the model shoot but I decided to go with the flow and try out what I haven't been doing much in photography. So I said to myself, "I'll try this one now!".

DSC_0049

Everyone did setup their tripods and I was trying to get a hint on what I'll do. We were all secured and I felt the security the Mayor sent us did a very good job about letting us know we're safe. I was having a hard time pressing the button on my cam because it was also getting the images a little blurred. Then I remembered, "Wait, I think I have a remote in my bag" so I hurriedly scuffled to find it and there it was on the side pocket. I got to shoot comfortably after that. Exposures took a few seconds and I was trying not to have flares on it. All in all I did a good job but not quite, see those flares? It's because I didn't remove my UV filter ha-ha!

Anyway, I'm sure there will be another time for this. I had a really nice time in Biñan and I'm sure the night scenes are all nicely captured. When will I do this again?! Maybe in a few weeks, I just don't have the time to do so in the evening because I work at these hours. I'll have someone teach me about it so I'll be a well rounded photographer. Wouldn't that be nice?! =)

Happy Anniversary My D60KREW Family!

Wednesday, June 16, 2010

It was hightime we did a photowalk again or as we had on some of our printed shirts FOTOWALK NA D60KREW! Because we are celebrating our Anniversary this June. Since the threads conception last year, my dear camera (Trish) and I have been buds with the same breeds as with my peers over at the D60KREW. I learned a lot from doing street photography and portraiture with them. I guess in its simplest form, I did have a lot to learn when I started this hobby and what great news to have but get acquainted with people who have been using the gear more than me... I met the D60KREW family when all I wanted was to take decent pictures and I think I got more out of that.... obviously it spurred lots of hot days under the sun and the camaraderie. All that and the fun quirky moments with the other guys and gals of the krew.

Here are some highlights of the Anniversary walk last Sunday:

Cid Estrada, Ryan Liberato, Ardiel Ross Topacio, Valynn Katrine Mag-usara, Francis Cayetano, Bangge Sella-Mahilum, Andy Rodriguez 洪安洛, Ronald Reyes Orcino, Me , Xander Solis, Andrew Alonto and Ms. Bambit. If names are missing facebook probably had something to do with it hahaha!

There were a lot of group hugs that happened. Some of them were really wacky as you might have known. What can we do, we're a happy bunch! If you combine the antics of the good guys and gals of the D60KREW, the long walk or travel would not probably tire you... but the laughs in between will. This walk was sort of a comeback since we held our first one inside the walls of Intramuros. It was scorching hot but we had a lot of fun!

Here's more of my BTS shots:

D60KREW FOTOWALK NA! Art Topacio and Bangge wearing it proud!

To everyone who made this photowalk happen and to all my buds in the D60KREW....

Happy Anniversary D60KREW!

Until the next FOTOWALK! =)

North Cemetery Photo Walk 10172009

Tuesday, October 27, 2009

It has been a week since I went out with the D60 KREW which I think specializes in Photo walks and street photography. It was a nice thing to do because since Halloween is coming it was but proper to do photography in a cemetery. Yes ladies and gentlemen, we did it in North Cemetery.

I was thinking how creepy it was to do it but when I saw some of the famous people who were laid to rest in that place, I think it became more of a historical point of view than a horror flick waiting to happen. Let me share some of the images I captured during that day.

Happy Halloween!

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

It seems that the season of trick or treat is fast approaching and I have been seeing kids wearing their creepy masks this early. I guess it is the hype that most American brands influenced in the Philippines that made this another reason to celebrate come All Saints and All Souls eve. I don't know if that accounts for more reason to do so but hey we have so many holidays already and businesses are not that well off because of the economic crunch. Anyway, before I drift off my original topic... I would like you to check out some shots I made for you this Halloween Season... Where and what did I take pictures of? Here, check it out LOL

So the next time you go to the cemetery, you will have a reason to see that even in death there is real beauty. Nice huh?! (^_^)

Remembering Anawangin

Monday, September 21, 2009

I had a photoshoot again with the D60KREW this morning in the LaMesa Ecopark in Fairview QC. It was nice all in all but they were all contemplating on going to Anawangin in Zambales. Yes I went there last time, remember my post here? CLICK THIS and CLICK THIS. They suggested we go to Anawangin sometime soon because of it's picturesque views and surroundings. Not to break their heart but it was excruciating when we went there. =) I was not in the mood for a hike either and I vowed never to return through the mountain trail there ever again. LOL I know how it was but man just remembering how it was at that time gave me so much pain.

Though it was really nice, don't get me wrong... just look at these pictures that I took using just my Nokia 6280 phone.

Some KUMAGCOWs on the foot of the mountain...(before we went up!)
