I
f you're secretly trying to find out what Senator Imee Marcos is doing these days, she's prepped gift giving activities during the last quarter of 2022.

It's already up on her official YouTube channel and as of this writing, it's got over 378K subscribers and she's been posting regularly since January of this year. The tone of the uploads have already maintained quite light and heartwarming, a bit different from the stern looking, hard hitting persona she has on Senate sessions.

On recent episodes, she mustered enough strength answer all those frequently asked questions on her social channels including out of this world ones that are both crazy and entertaining. She gamely answered them as best as she can including topics like relationships, and life.

Your Senator Imee will also be sharing her experiences of gift giving at the Philippine Heart Center and the Correctional Institute for Women in Mandaluyong City. Much of the recipients would be those undergoing heart issues, detainment of which she also inspected facilities and work out laws to increase budgets for them if needed.Start by subscribing to her YouTube channel by searching ImeeMarcosOfficial on the platform.

UNICEF Launches #ChildrenFirstStoryBooks with Anne Curtis

Friday, February 19, 2016

We were in SM North - The Block earlier to witness the launch of UNICEF's Children First Story Books. It's a project very close to the heart of Anne Curtis, one of UNICEF's Child Ambassador. The proceeds of the sales of these books will actually go to their fund and in turn help a lot of kids form the habit of reading which is crucial for today's generation to succeed. I'm a voracious reader, so this also hits close to home. I wouldn't want my kids to just spend all day in front of the TV, tablets or computers alone (hypothetically having kids I mean) so it would be a good thing for them to have something tangible every once in a while. I remember having these kinds of books in the past that taught kids not just to read, but learn a thing or two about good manners, courage, the concept of beauty, and the good values Filipinos should never lose.

Aside from Filipino children benefiting from reading, UNICEF takes care of the rights of the child. So if you're going to get the set, you're also helping them in efforts to eradicate poverty, educate more kids, and protect the civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights that every child should have. Anne also adds that the books would also entail the kids to have a sense of imagination, and could learn a thing or two about life lessons. She also believes that kids should have emotional and moral support that they need in order to grow. They can also learn to express themselves better if they get the confidence they need (as she talks about her book Anita the Duckling Diva).

UNICEF will also have the illustrations on all these books displayed on SM The Block's 3rd level until the 25th of February. Some of the patrons also had the opportunity to have their books signed by the authors and illustrators earlier. You can visit www.unicef.ph to know more on how you can help and get these children's books too. It only costs a mere Php 500 for 6 of them, plus you can also help their cause. That's a good deal right there.

Richard Yap aka Sir Chief aka Papa Chen Endorses Senator Ramon "Jun" Magsaysay!

Saturday, May 11, 2013

It's almost election day and I haven't been able to at least fill one of the seats in the Senate. I haven't been able to decide who I'm going to vote for because honestly I don't know their qualifications which is something that I base my vote with. An couple of days ago, I was fortunate enough to have been able to track Richard Yap who plays Sir Chief/ Papa Chen on a press conference. I wondered why initially but I guess with the things that some of the people wearing there it was a Liberal Party gathering. I sat down with my blogger friends and the guy across me looked very familiar. It was Senator Ramon "Jun" Magsaysay Jr. and he was talking to some of my friends over coffee.

The last time I saw Sir Jun was in person was way back in college. It was my graduation and he was the guest speaker. I'm a Computer Engineer and a thinker, he's an Engineer too and we all know he's been quite a good Senator in the past. He's coming back and if my hunch is right he's getting voted by mostly the educated and thinking class. In a world where qualifications matter, that's probably what he's got and what he has to offer.

It was my first time seeing Ogie Diaz too. This time however he wasn't cracking jokes. He was serious and taking it to the next level. He was introducing the Senator and I couldn't agree more about what he had to say about him. A proven track record, no anomalies, no unscrupulous people who are associated with him, and he's done a good job in the past. That's Senator Jun Magsaysay for him.

Then he introduced good looking Richard Yap aka Papa Chen aka Sir Chief.

Don't worry, I said that too my self. I mean why in the world would someone like Sir Chief get involved in politics? Why would he endorse a politician of all people? Well for starters and for the public to know, Sir Chief made it known that he wasn't paid to do this. This is pro bono. Sir Jun Magsaysay says; Richard Yap is like a nephew to him and he has called him hijo for what its worth.

Sir Chief believes in Senator Jun. He's also glad that he's into caring for kids which is one of his passions. For some of you that don't know, Richard Yap has done charity work in his spare time. If someone believes in the charities that he also does, then that for him is the perfect person to vote for. It's not a secret now and he believes in a good man like Senator Jun Magsaysay.

People should realize how important this election is for the future of our children. Each time you get someone on the Senate seat wrongly, the country suffers and with that... so does the hopes and dreams of millions of Filipinos. I think I made my mind who's going on top of my list in this election after seeing what he wants to do for the country. It's quite simple actually but its got so many things involved in it. The responsibility of getting your vote counted starts on the election day itself. Without it, I don't think you would have the right to complain about public service. You have the chance to change the country's future on just exercising your right this Monday. Make sure you choose the right guy. It'll be all worth it! If Sir Chief believes in Sir Jun Magsaysay, who in the right mind say that you shouldn't too!

Watch Rocco Nacino Tear Down Political Dynasties in New Drama Series "Bayan Ko"

Monday, February 18, 2013

It's so easy to elect someone but to change how people act in public service office must be too hard to handle. Honestly, I've seen worse in real life; if you go to far flung areas and provinces not usually reached by the national government, you'll feel like this is even normal to them. It's like they have their own lifestyle and they don't care that much about proper decorum. I cringe at the sight of these, just watch the video below.

On March 10, 2013 GMA will be showing a six part mini series entitled "Bayan Ko" and let us take a lesson on local politics and the ugly truth. Starring the channel's "IT" boy Rocco Nacino who also just finished one of the best top rated afternoon drama series in the network (Yesterday's Bride) he plays the role of Mayor Joseph Santiago (a very optimistic neophyte in local politics). Watch as he battles out a huge political dynasty in their town, headed and played by renowned actor Pen Medina as the governor and Ping Medina as his congressman son.

It's one of the child projects of GMA News TV Channel created by Ms. Nessa Valdelleon. It's a timely topic now that it's election season; and I've seen how hard Rocco researched about this particular character. He went to real deal municipalities/cities to check out how much hard work public service entails and see how good or bad this part of the society is.

Rocco Nacino

I can't wait to see this series. I'm sure you guys would love to see this after his phenomenal performance in "Yesterday's Bride".

An Evening with Honorable Senator Gregorio "Gringo" Honasan

Sunday, August 14, 2011

I'm no expert in Philippine politics nor military knowledgeable or inclined; but I realized I had so many things to thank for when I got the chance to talk to one heck of a great leader... the Honorable Senator Gregorio Ballesteros "Gringo" Honasan.

First time to see him. I was really nervous because I sat right next to him! :)

I never get to talk to people I voted for in the last elections and this was officially a treat for me. I kept asking myself the same question, whilst heading over to the venue. What should I ask him? Would he find my questions intrusive or complicated? How would I ask him about certain issues without holding back? I was put to ease by everyone who made this possible, his whole staff made it easy for us and didn't tell us a single thing not to ask about... it was no holds barred. I felt so good when they told me that.

He didn't hold back explaining everything. Even hard issues in the past!

In hindsight I actually only asked a couple of questions, he already had the mind to explain to us about the controversies or issues with the government we didn't dare ask. That's how open he was right from the get go. The Coup de etat, the jail time, his relation with the officers, the rebellion, the Oakwood mutiny all seemed to be a nono to ask but he went ahead and did answer them. It was idealism and his profound wishes for a better regime and country for everyone + more that made him do some of the things he did in the past. He was an officer and a gentleman, now that he is a Senator and more he said he's already made milestones and accomplishments that he didn't get to do before. He got to help a lot of people in a "general" scale, from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao; he realized the laws he get to pass in the plenary affect countless lives... plus generations to come. Isn't that admirable? IKR?!

Actually, he understood why he's still being tagged by irresponsible media and government officials every time there is something rebellious in nature that happens in the Philippines... though we laughed it off; it was really preposterous! How in the world can one man do 9++ coup attempts and all the other officer disgruntlement's all by himself... some government officials who pointed an accusing finger at him really need to get checked in on mental institutions IMHO.

The Honorable Senator Gregorio "Gringo" Honasan

Unlike Other Lawmakers

This interview was getting all serious and we got to know how much he cared for the less our less fortunate kababayans. Did you know squatting is decriminalized now? Did you know he extended the rent control law? Did you know he did a lot of things for Agrarian reform, Land use and its proponents? It might be so simple to you guys but believe me a LOT of people benefited from it. He did all those things and more; but you probably didn't think of it that much when you voted the last time right? I did my research and got my vote for him counted because as a citizen of this country I always thought that in order to legitimize each concern that I have I need to do my part. I'm glad to see my vote wasn't wasted. Ask yourself this question next time when you put someone's name on the ballot, will he be worth it?! Mine did.

On His Personal Life

I didn't want to just stay with the serious issues really and since this was a once in a lifetime opportunity I wanted to know about him in a more intimate way. I knew some things courtesy of my Dad and Uncle about the Senator and his musical affiliations in the past. You probably didn't even know that right?! LOL Senator Gringo also almost didn't remember either but I guess some of the names I mentioned suddenly hit a chord and named names like Spanky Rigor, Pepe Smith, VST and other ones I didn't quite know coz you and I probably weren't born yet. It was so refreshing to shy away from politics. He now remembers a couple of things from that era... and I agree those were really the good ole days.

He's not choosy per se with the food he eat but he needs to trim down a little he said so he's sticking to healthy choices these days. He values communication and knows the power of social media. He is a twitter user and at the age of 63 and he's a cool Grandpa to begin with. Today he wants to have all our resources to be equally distributed. He wants solid government programs that turn into good things that people will feel. This light talk about the music industry, bits and pieces of graduating from the PMA, militarism was turning quite good. He also said something about that controversy about answering back to Jim Paredes on Twitter. I think the Senator was right though. He said these life threatening situations like being a soldier isn't a joke. He was apologetic about bursting out like that later on. He contemplated after that incident that social networking has brought the best and worst in us. True, true!

Land use and it's sustainable development is his priority bill. He wanted to do something like "equating" land use. He admits that the country has been exploited too much by the US and China too and I totally agree with him on that. What's ironic is that even if they did these things we still tried to help em. China already made structures on the shoal/Recto bank but we didn't do crap. 9/11 would have not happened if US only listened to our intelligence information, they didn't know that! Those are facts but he's quite optimistic and hopeful about our country and he'll continue to do his best to make efforts reforming the country's defenses, the PNP and AFP through laws.

The Senator candidly tells stories about him at home

I felt that he's got nothing to prove now that it's his 12th yr as a Senator of the Republic of the Philippines. With an accomplished and a reputable resume to boot; we asked about a regular day in the Honasan household. His grandchildren occupies his morning (that alone already counts as a workout he jokingly said *whilst chases around the kids*). Getting married was his happiest memory together with the ousting of Marcos in 1986; he's family oriented, very romantic to his wife and wants to do a lot of things until now. He believes that the right to life is prime, whosoever gets killed in Mindanao is as important as the one in Manila; honor is next.

These days he enjoys reading and exercises as much as he can to manage his weight. He watches movies (Transformers etc.). He also designs furniture, paint and carve wood. He takes care of bonsai trees and believes he's got a green thumb. He sometimes love to pretend he's listening to other politicians nonsense. He's got advise about women too: Love them unconditionally, don't try understanding women because it would be pointless. Senator Enrile btw is like a father to him. He loves listening to new songs too from Amy Winehouse, Mic Jagger, The Beatles and appreciate more of his life through music. Isn't that nice to know?! :)

He loves practicing Kendo these days and makes sure this is a part of his regimen. He's a national champion for combat shooting and a very good skydiver. He lead professionals in ASEAN years ago too. He wants people to know that the greatest unexplored part of the Philippines is his hometown Sorsogon. A swim in Donsol Sorsogon is bliss! he says. He loves seeing and touching those gentle giant whale sharks. He agrees that we have so many things to be explored in our own country and people should really take a look at them soon!

In a nutshell, I was really inspired to ask questions because talking and listening to him was indeed a pleasure. He's a soldier, a rebel, an artist, a lover, a good looking guy like me (no pun intended hehe) among others; but best of all he's a great law maker and public servant. I'd like to take this bit and thank Senator Gregorio Honasan and his staff for being so nice to me that evening. He inspired me to make smart choices and tell the people I love about how to choose someone to have the heart serving my countrymen. I hope this wouldn't be the last time that I'd get to talk to such an honorable gentleman. I hope my readers get to do the same thing and make sure they research (if possible talk to them) first before they support someone in the next elections. I just did. =)

Be heard in the Marketplace

Wednesday, November 05, 2008

It's like another busy day at work!

I work for a multinational corporation that engages with clients from North, Central, South America, Europe and Asia. I know how hard it is for our Marketing Department to get plans implemented for their campaigns. The communication mediums are limitless and one company called My Voice Dialing offers "Voice Broadcasting". I told them that this might be the company that they need.

Well I'm sure everybody would ask what that technology is. If you think about it, its just simply automating information through calls. A common term used for this is "Robo Calls" and what My Voice Dialing does is transmit these at rates of thousands of calls per hour. It truly is that fast!

This can be used in different ways and can be provided by only the best in the industry. Competitors that tried to mimic the same technology never had My Voice Dialing's customer base (through lead generation) and personalized approach to support. PLDT in the Philippines use this same technology to have their services told to millions of their telephone subscribers throughout the country. This in turn would convert in more sales today since they can reach them easily and automatically tell people how easy and extremely cost worthy it is to subscribe with their promos. With the Presidential election that will happen today for example, you can always count on Obama and McCain putting investments campaigning through different media. Whoever availed services from My Voice Dialing between them would obviously have the edge over the other since they can automate telling their plans for the country faster and better. It's the one you need if you want to be heard in the marketplace.
