Experts Explain Advancements in Exosome Use: ExoDerm by Facial Care Centre

It's been a while since I've gone out for a little self care and pampering. But before that, I heard that there's a lot of development about using exosomes for treatments. Initially, I saw them using it at Svenson for NexoHair, a treatment made for hair loss, alopecia and the likes, but this time, they're taking it in even better applications specifically for skin and call it, ExoDerm. This procedure is being done at Facial Care Centre and their branches. We went to the Makati GT Tower branch which is at the corner of Ayala and HV Dela Costa streets. We met Mike Lee, the CEO of PrimaCure and his father Dr. Young Seob Lee, world renowned South Korean Plastic Surgeon and premier expert in this field. They explained to us the applications of exosomes and the things they can do now for the skin. Mike Lee explains "Undergoing this procedure for a regular patient would immediately have all your inflammation and blemishes clear. It can take effect somewhere between 1 to 5 days, and its purpose is to revamp the activity of your cells. When you are younger, you didn't have melasma right? Of course we get that through aging, but at the cellular level we need energy for it. We had anti oxidants to counteract pollution, UV rays, your lifestyle, nutrition and hormonal things. As we age, we're not able to regulate that as well. These stressors will affect the mitochondria, which brings you less energy, less collagen produced, and you'll have laxity and melasma. This happens when machines get old, then it makes it dry, because it falls and can't retain moisture. Like your cellphones, it needs updating, same concept goes with exosomes. It sends growth factors, genetic materials to revamp the skin. It makes your current skin behave younger, like when you're 36, it could act as 28 or even younger."

Dr. Young Seob Lee adds "In our next projects with our research in Europe, we are targeting post menopausal applications of exosomes, to prevent many uncomfortable issues with the female form. Initially we held research about its efficacy, and we have determined it to be quite good. And we might not just be applying this to post menopausal but post partum as well to prevent issues there. In the Philippines, we might have this soon."

The core technology that they are using is now being done for different applications. Their process is different and not derived through stem cells. The vesicle that enables delivery of needed products for skin/hair is the great thing about this and the different things they can do is promising. It's developed enough to do pathways that would benefit different kinds of treatment and it is already proven in the products they've come out with. They've seen it happen to more than a thousand patients in the Philippines alone, and numbers on a global scale would be a lot bigger. The customization they could do would be good for a lot of people.

I had so much fun during this event. I have always regarded BlueWater Day Spa as our family's go to place for rest and relaxation. My Mom and Sister are regulars in the branch near our place and I don't even blame them at all. The superb service plus the whole experience had them hooked the first time they tried it. It's already been beneficial, when there are aches and pains because of everyday work, this serves as a refuge for them and they always invite me along if I'm free. Kim even told us how she experiences these things while shooting shows she appears in on ABSCBN. She suggests you do this twice a month because she does it too. Vina Morales for Ystilo Salon x Helen Seward

I was invited to one of the events of Ystilo Salon in Club Filipino in Greenhills and felt quite amused because even if I was a little late, I kinda related to what they were talking about. A company from Milan, Italy called Helen Seward was actually training some of the Senior Hairstylists and colorists of Ystilo Salon and I've been a great fan of colors since I've been taken cared of by Bing Dio Salon in Mother Ignacia. Seeing them talk about preparing hair, bleaching, repairing the color outcome and setting expectations, I could imagine them all saying their spiels inside their salon already. Ystilo Salon has been doing this twice a year they say and they have different companies that carry their products give their stylists workshops and training so they could only give the best for their clients.

Ms. Vina Morales also obliged us with an interview and let us know how it is important to have business sense even at an early age because just like her salons, the opportunity to grow is out there and says she had to learn a lot of things from other business owners and herself while they continue to expand the business. She's also doing a show together with Elmo Magalona (who just transferred from GMA) and Janella Salvador and she's excited about it. Here it is on video!

 We also got to see some of works of Antonio Robustelli and Helen Seward's very own Ms. Catherine Lorenzi. They were the ones who facilitated the event together with the local distributor (who was very nice btw!) and showed us what's "IN" this season. The feel I got was a little modern touch on old Hollywood glam. So think of artists carrying hair in that era but styled and modernized.

Sweet Dreams with Elica

We're now in Ascott BGC for the press conference of ELICA, Bayer Philippines' product that deals with Eczema. It was also a fun morning because we were there with their endorsers Team Kramer. I'm so in love with their kids!

Quick note before we call it a day. It's been a while since I've had a change of color, of hair that is. I had my hair cut so it won't look like a mohawk anymore so I went to see the Mom of Cher my friend and hairstylist. She's Tita Bing Dio, one who's also done the hair of countless celebrities and some of her QC neighborhood's elite. What I love about her is that she treats everyone like family, so a visit to her salon over at Mother Ignacia Street in Quezon City (in front of St. Mary's in Quezon City).

While she was cutting my hair, she must have felt my hair was boring as she has probably seen me in different shades as done by her daughter Cher. She asked what color I'd like and I said "anything would be fine", so she whipped out the colors and started to bleach my hair. She said "let's color you yellow!" and I felt that sounded good to me. :)

Bleaching is a long, tedious process and I must say it's not for everyone. I felt safe because I know they're experts and they've done this for years now. Tita Bing had me colored, rinsed, then undergo treatment. They gently massaged it without scratching the scalp as they want to take care of my hair even after the bleaching process. The color looked absolutely amazing after a couple more minutes and they advised me to not be too hasty about using shampoos so color would stay longer. Now I look so good like sunshine!

A few more snips for finishing touches and I got that back part of the mohawk gone. Now I've got good looking hair made by the good people from Jerusalem N. Dio Salon by Bing Dio.Tita Bing knew how to take care of me the moment I sat on the salon's chair.

The Good and Bad Things About Fillers: Radiesse

Rushed to Makati so I could catch an event by Merz Aesthetics, a branch of the brand Merz who's one of the leaders in aesthetics and consumer health. They talked about aging, a fact that nobody accepts in this day and age but eventually have to face because of stress, exposure to the sun, lack of sleep and negative outlook in life. It all contributes to the word OLD and the other 3 letter word called AGE, we have to face it eventually so in this occurrence you'll have soft tissue quality, facial bone loss, muscle and ligament loss of control because of gravity. At this time, people get deep wrinkles, thick skin, laxity, impaired healing, sagging eyelids, need I say more?

What would be the treatment? It starts from taking care of your skin, a change of lifestyle, hydration and a healthy diet. The key here is prevention, says Dr. Ferraris from UERMMC. She adds the process also of looking good makes one feel good. It has to come from inside, it's our nature to actually do it.
