Search and Reap the Benefits!

Tuesday, November 09, 2010

I'm currently building another website for my photography business and the chances are I wouldn't be that visible on line. If a client did a search through engines here and around the world my website would only appear at the head of the pack if there would be a lot of reviews about it. Aside from that I need to perform quite well in the SEO standard set by the industry. The services I plan to put out for everyone to see would not match any query unless I make steps to get it out on the open. The Internet is just the best tool to publicize it so I would get customers flocking on my doorstep.

This is an opportunity to get myself acquainted with how it works. I also have a lot of plans for the layout and that will still include putting in content on the pages. I write a lot for most of these companies professionally but if it comes to a point that I need help in getting the best solutions for the studio this will be one thing that I would never forget! I will slowly try and get my website to rule the fashion and commercial capitals of the world and I'm sure I'll be ahead of the pack because I chose to optimize my home in the web!

Are you a webmaster? What are the benefits of getting your site listed? Have you ever heard of search engine optimization? Let me know!

People of Singapore, Singapore!

Embedded in me; is the street photographer that I am. I started this hobby with that in the first place so in this post I'm going to pay homage to just that! I've been walking non stop in Singapore so in it's truest sense I'll let you in on some of the photos I took in Orchard Road and elsewhere in the country. Are you ready? Heheh....

I love watching people. I maybe a little evil in telling what they are thinking but I guess that comes with whatever I grew up with.

This one is just outside our hotel; a hawker center. I feel a little comfortable eating in these places because they are not that fancy. The price of a meal would count around 5 Singapore dollars or less. Some are pricey but to think about it, it costs a little more than what we have here in the Philippines. Not bad considering we are talking about first world stuff you know! What made this interesting is that they have these things all around town. There are also big franchises of hawker centers even inside the mall. See the letter B on the store? That's how clean it is. They kinda rate the stalls with those letters so if you want it ultra clean then only order when it shows A+ on it.

I love the roasted duck too. A little gamey but it still is scrumptious. The last time I ate duck was in Hong Kong so this was a little different since I ate at restaurants there. The big chinese restaurants had more authentic taste. But this was a whole lot cheaper!
This is my favorite drink! The one on the right. It's called Water Chestnut. It tastes a lot like sago but without sago. The nutty flavor is still there and it feels so refreshing that I haven't had any time to drink water. It was just this in my whole stay there. I thought of opening up a business just with this drink! Would it be a hit? I dunno, but you see that other drink? It tastes like Rose water... literally tastes like petals LOL. Hate that!

This is still in Orchard Road. There is quite a number of expats from UK. It's a mix of everything. You kinda get tired of looking at them as one people because they are like popcorn, you can't decypher them anymore after a few days. Malay, Indian, Bangladeshi, Indonesian, Filipino. They even talk their own language, unless they need to use English.

Orchard is full of shops. Some of them have cheap items but most of them are a little pricey. If you go there on a Sale then you are in luck. They always are on Sale but most events cover around 50-70% off on real sales. Food is expensive if it goes over 10 dollars. Seen some shops sell 5 dollars below so that's a lot better!

People move around so fast. Their escalators are twice as fast too and if you fall down they'll look at you like its your fault that you are so slow. Not good for seniors to travel in because they'll feel tired fast.
Sentosa Island - Silosa Beach is a man made island that has an artificial beach. I didn't quite like the smell of some of them but I had to shoot hehe. I think they exported sand from Palawan and made their own island. The other side of this island is called Palawan too where most Pinoys have their picnic on weekends. I wonder how much it did cost them to build this and get the sand.

Sentosa's charm lies in those two beaches, plus the attractions like clubs, private resorts, indoor wave machines and the upcoming indoor skydiving equipments that they are building now. It's going to be the biggest tunnel in the world too. Pretty cool but a little crowded in the afternoon as you can see in the lines. We didn't get to ride as much as we wanted to go to Universal Studios earlier and that was a big disappointment since it cost a lot. Anyway I'll show you more as the day comes.

Later guys!

Where Do I Go Next?!

I have been traveling for quite a while. I love how it feels to get to know the culture and the people on the street. This goes the same with any other country I plan to visit. I will pretty soon conquer the UK and I will have my brother take short breaks with me. Since he is busy in Ireland I wouldn't be able to just pull him out on weekdays and maybe on the weekend it'll be more feasible. Do you see deer on the photo? There's a lot more where that came from and it is just a few kilometers away from my brother's house. I can always travel but there's something in my mind that bugs me if he doesn't come along with me. He needs a break too and if that requires us to do it nearby I wouldn't hesitate to do it.

I love the weekend and if ever it's going to be the shortest day I have to go out with my brother it is okay just as long as it is with him. This goes the same with my friends too. I have a lot and to tell you honestly I've been doing this for quite some time now. I am currently choosing vacation packages on line and I would love to explore more of the countryside. Have you thought of where to go next?

Food from Singapore, Singapore!

It's going to be a little flooded with Singapore now since you know already. I'm posting photos of the food I enjoyed while in the Merlion state so you get to know how it is and what it tastes like when you get there too. Ready?!

The Oyster Omelet which is as it says it is. This is an omelet hugging several oysters accentuated by the taste of cilantro that breaks the fishy pungent drama it has. This one tasted good and they cook it to a point where the oyster is still a little raw. They let it cook from the heat of the folded egg. It's quite good but I'm going to tell you a general observation on the food there ok?!

This is the famous Hokkien Mee. Well I think you know by now that Mee probably had the notion of it being the root of our local Mami. This basically tastes like pansit bihon guisado + canton with the exception of the HOT lethal sambal chili that it comes with. I didn't like it because of the shrimp.. why? Because I'm allergic to seafood LOL
Singapore Fried rice. It tasted like Yangchow fried rice with the pickled chili to get it hot. I like chili a lot so I enjoyed pairing this with the other things we ate. I just hesitated a bit because it also had shrimp on it.

Laksa - I really was looking forward to eat this particular bowl because it looks so HOT right? Well it is hot but I didn't like one major part of it. I felt it was like BINABOY na SPAGHETTI with sauce that came from coconut milk. Yes they did also use Spaghetti for the noodles and I didn't like it. It was just OK and I felt a little disappointed. Anyway, now for my favorite!

It's the famous Chicken Rice! This one is the Roasted Version! Ohhh my mouth still waters just by looking at it. It was nice and a little lemony fresh when you eat the rice. It was the perfect pair! I am so loving it! I'm going to look for a local version of this and see if it does justice with what I ate there!

By the way, if you are wondering what general thing I'm going to say about the food there, its just that it is too bland. They need to put salt on most of them so it'll catch up on our taste. I guess they prefer spicy instead of getting bolder flavors on food. I still love it though and a little salt wouldn't be that bad to do while eating.

There's more of this in the future posts but I'm showing you these just to get you started! =)

I'm Loving Weekend Breaks!

Monday, November 08, 2010

I love taking a vacation. It makes me realize how much I've been working so hard at the office. It literally makes me forget how stressful life is. I wish I could spend weekend breaks uk so I'd be able to take refuge in outskirts of London. There are a lot of things to do there and my brother would be glad to take me around. I've been contemplating about it for the longest time but it looks feasible now that I've traveled a lot this year. The destinations are endless and the comfort of living in a home away from home is really going to make my stay memorable.

To tell you the truth I'd like to go on short visits like the Sherwood Forest and see where Robin Hood really came from. I'd probably play a part on the story too if they would permit me. My friends would probably come with me too even if I ask on short notice. They enjoyed the last time we did an out of town stint. I practically had to ask them to leave early otherwise my work schedules would suffer. A short break even within the country would be nice just as long as I could spend it with friends and family. You should start asking around for people who would like to go out with you this weekend. It's perfect for our busy schedules and the time you spend with your loved ones is priceless! So what's your plan for this weekend? Let me know!

Singapore, Singapore!

It was another tiring day today and as I said in my previous posts I'll get some of my shots published here. Since there are some required shots for a photographer while in Singapore I'll show you some of them now. These are all long exposures which lasts around 20 seconds for a single shot. I hope you like them!

Now remember these are not high resolution copies so it is a little degraded (because I uploaded them on standard rate in FB). I post processed it just now so please spare me the humiliation if you are a photographer too LOL. Anyway here's Orchard Road at around 12:30 AM. Yeap I was there at this time because I didn't want to stay around the hotel that much!

This is Marina Bay Sands. See that platform on top of it? It's actually a park where you can roam around the 57th floor of these three buildings. It's one of the most greatest architectural wonders in Singapore so you kinda get why a lot of people take shots of this one. Pretty awesome huh?! My niece Marie works there at the reception so if you ever are around, I don't care LOL!

This is the Fullerton Hotel (as it also says on the top of the building). This is where the famous Merlion of Singapore is found. There is another one in Sentosa but this is pretty much the most photographed since it stands by the river. This is just opposite the Durian looking theater so if ever you are in one side you can take shots of the other one on the other side. Get it?!
This is the famous Esplanade. This is the durian looking theater on the other side of the bay. This is also quite near the Singapore flyer which I'll show you in a bit. They are quite close probably because this is one of the tourist spots in Singapore. From what I've learned, Lea Salonga already performed here among many artists that are from the Philippines. Singapore hasn't got that much artistic people so they always get them from other countries like ours. They have art schools but no one seems to be interested in most of them. They all want to go to Universities in Australia because it is quite expensive to study here.

This is the Esplanade + The Singapore Flyer. The middle part of that is where you can eat a lot of Singapore's best cuisine. I was on a diet that's why I ended up eating 15 chicken wings just for starters. Did I tell you I was addicted to Water Chestnut? I literally am not drinking water anymore because of it. I always buy them outside our hotel when I go out. I also take them in when going back. I wish there was some way I could put up a business entirely made of drinks like what they have. As for the food, I'll show you some more later!

Behave so I'd show some more photos okay?! =)

Sunshine Sometimes Spoils Sleep!

Sunday, November 07, 2010

It's so nice to get some rest and recreation in this side of the world and I have been enjoying my stay in the hotel. I always go back so I can get some sleep after the tour but I'm having some problems in the morning. It's just way too bright here and they didn't have anything to cover the windows aside from mediocre treatments. The perfect solution for this is Cheap Roller Blinds and I'm going to make sure the hotel management hears from me. It would be a relief to see other tourists complement them by getting that much needed sleep. After all that's what we're all here for in the first place.

The solution is so simple and I would really want to do the same thing at home. I am a nocturnal and it is so convenient to get one on line. I want to stay asleep as long as I can so I can be ready the next day. I don't want the sunshine interrupting my sleep. If I wanted that in the afternoon a simple twist and I'd have all the light that I want. I'm going to get some for the office too so it'll be doubly private for those really confidential business meetings. The simple things really matter when you get to use them for the comforts of life!

Daily Moo's 11072010

So here I go blogging from my phone in a not so quaint hotel in Singapore. This isn't the posh place I hoped it would be. But its okay, and it does the deed.... I think there are more horror stories in other places. This is also in Orchard which is a MAJOR relief because its near everything. It's also right beside the Singapore Prime Minister's residence so in a not so fancy world he's my neighbor LOL!

But really to tell you honestly I want to go home already. I love traveling don't get me wrong but oh boy this is so tiring. Imagine a 12 hour day walk. Then you have to travel again all the way back to your hotel. Your foot becomes numb halfway and you wouldn't want to walk anymore. I wish there was a hovercraft we could ride anywhere but hey this walking thing is a culture for them I guess. I even walked a whole train station length because I went down too early. I could have gone to the next station instead. I just knew when I got there! Sheesh!

I've got lots of stories to tell and so little time. I'm so tired already so I've got to get some sleep since we're going again tomorrow. I don't know if I'm going to like this place but hey, its something different from the Philippines so its still a treat. I wonder if I'll have time to meet some bloggers here. Some nuffies or maybe some Filipino bloggers based in Singapore.

Going to post some photos once I get some time to post process them here. I brought my laptop but it seems a little weird that I have to pay a huge amount and stay in the lobby just to get connected. I want to wreak havoc in their wireless network as soon as I get out of here just for trips! Hahaha! XD

Please don't call me a racist, I just can't stand the smell of bumbays and bangladeshis... if you see them in beaches and in groups the smell is just TOXIC believe me! O_O Arrggggh!!

I miss my bed bigtime!

When you can't do it, they'll do it For You!

Wednesday, November 03, 2010

I'm no handyman and to tell you honestly it has been years since I did something beneficial at home. I can't build stuff. I don't do carpentry. I don't know how to wash clothes. I don't even know how to do the dishes. I can cook but only I can stand the spices so I'm the only one who eats it too. I can be handy around the kitchen but not elsewhere. When it started raining a couple of months ago I felt something drip on the side walls of our house. I never mentioned it to anyone until we had a typhoon just last month. It was Signal number 4 and the country was ravaged by it. While I was trying to get some sleep that same place that had drips suddenly became so strong it was already causing a minor flood in my room. Dad wasn't that good about fixing things too so we asked around. They were literally charging us a few hundred bucks just for fixing small holes and applying putty on it. I knew that offer isn't right so I checked out places like BISONBID.COM on the Internet. It was then that I said to myself, if ever I was going to have any kind of home remodel; I'll try to find help here first. I need to save money and they have a lot of people who do odd jobs like these. It looks like the perfect place for me!

Fixing the roof and the labor required for it was easy to negotiate for. I was sure that there are a lot of professionals who could do it but this one can get me the best deal since they bid on it. Professional contractors are going to have to wait because there are even more qualified people on their site that can do the job at a fraction of the cost. I'm not going to spend too much money for renovation or remodeling when we are in a financial crisis. That wouldn't be the smart thing to do. At least in this place they can outbid each other and I can choose the best deal too! Best of all the service is free of charge! No need to pay outright until you get the job done. You guys better check it out to get that bathroom or kitchen fixed next!
