Meego + Fujitsu + Infinity App Store Luncheon Event

Last March 10, 2011 Fujitsu Philippines and Edmund Lim the Product Marketing Manager of Fujitsu PC Asia Pacific just launched MEEGO; a brand new Linux based OS for the Fujitsu line of netbooks. As an UBUNTU fanatic myself I was eager to get my hands on this one since the premise was to get all the social media functions tabbed into one useful interface. The bootup sequence only took around 15 seconds++ and it's got Twitter, Facebook, MSN and all the latest social network accounts converged into one roof. It presents each post and update on small, colored windows that can be easily clicked and replied to if needed.


The demographics that they probably want to capture in this segment are the young happy go lucky ones who want everything already taken cared of without using individual programs (downloading and installing them too) or going to sites just to get online.

It looks promising but I think nothing still beats the olden ways of doing this. It's another case of "preference" in my books. The ease on the computer might be it's selling point because it wouldn't hoard that much resources by doing the former because let's face it... Windows just hogs! This wouldn't be for the full business laden professionals since it wouldn't be able to perform most complicated "office functionality" but if you think about it; you would be able to enjoy open source materials easily than loading the whole brouhaha of Windows OS and its applications. Intel, Nokia has taken advantage of this already and I'm sure in the coming years we'll see different versions and upgrades of this kind. Definitely a step forward for open sourced OS and Fujitsu.


There's also a corresponding application store called Infinity App store that will release free and paid software for their Lifebook line. Since there has been no significant increase in the netbook market yet in the Philippines they are gearing to tap that too. Unlike our neighbors in the Asia Pacific, we fall slightly behind the user base for this type of products and they are optimistic that it will pick up in the next few months. Lifebooks are less than 2KG, but they never compromised battery life among other things. Their keyboard design stayed the same since they kept it spill resistant just like its predecessors. The new I5 processor also gave this needed power that cannot be matched by other brands with the same size.

Art, Love and Passion

I've learned to appreciate art at a very young age not because I have relatives in the industry but because I was fascinated with all things concerned with it. I always wanted our excursions to include visits to reputable museums here and around the metro. Living in a third world country would definitely be one of the few things that could inspire you or force yourself and your mind off things. Making something beautiful out of the impoverished situation is the ideal way of fixing it. I don't have that much money even up to this day to afford such pieces and only get the next best thing if I wanted one for our home. Take a look at this image for example; don't you just feel the passion and emotion on the artwork? That is one of the few things that give me a natural high. It inspires me to say the least. I want to make one myself too but maybe in a different medium like photography. Giclee Fine Art Prints would be one of the few things I'd like to find so I can get them displayed on my home. That's going to be a great thing to have soon!

The love I have for works of art and the times when I need inspiration dictates what particular piece I get interested in. I almost ransacked the museums here in the metro and if that wasn't too bad; to do in a single whim when nobody's looking or maybe get what I need for my own home. I get frustrated each day looking at them but I know pretty soon I'll have these in my hands. What about you? Have you considered getting artworks for your own home?! Inspired by the Barefoot Contessa

To keep myself dead hungry while doing my everyday routine I watch shows from this fantastic lady on the Food Network. I admit I am a fan just as I am a fan of Nigella Lawson. I can cook but maybe not as good as them; but I may have chances to do that when following recipes. I probably have a lot to say but here's why I love how they do this. Whipping up a cake and a couple of main dishes for an event wouldn't hurt!



The old techniques of getting every dry and wet ingredient together first before mixing everything is the key. I'm not much into baking either but I can probably do this. Yeap, guys like me can cook too... don't ask why but it maybe because I went to market almost every week with my Mum back then hence the ability to cook anything I want heheh... Although I only do spicy things better that part where she creamed the chocolate is oh soooo yummy!



How I wish I also had a house in the Hamptons so I could have the quaint lifestyle (if that is quaint by your standards) that they have. I love to get to know them too. I would be so lucky to have them as neighbors and maybe just maybe it'll come true one of these days. She is a Nuclear expert by the way and had no formal training in cooking. I guess the model of all american women these days are a far cry from Martha Stewart huh?! Maybe they were making bombs before they made cake and made them glow of the radiation. My mind is playing tricks on me again... I have a weird sense of humor I know! Ha-ha!




I haven't had a book by her yet so I'm planning to get one tomorrow. Maybe I'll learn a thing or two about making simple things out of our kitchen. After all it has been a focal point in our home all these years and that oven is probably getting a little rusty hehehe. My brother doesn't cook when he's here in the Philippines but since I'm in the mood these days to cook maybe I'll get inspired to bake a cake and eat it too literally! Don't you just love that Chocolate Buttercream Frosting she made?! Ugh! Diet Epic Fail! LOL!

The Pains of Bankruptcy

I have seen a lot of people suffering in the US after the recession. I have friends who went through the same trials as everybody else there and still... they haven't recovered because they earn so little than what they used to. Filing bankruptcy was one of the easy things to do at that time but there are really big repercussions in doing that. The measly help from the government would not be able to get the children to school nor feed them three times a day. If this happened to them it would surely be possible anywhere else in the world.

United States insolvency dossiers increased to almost 14% at the end of the 2010 fiscal year. Bankruptcies dropped slightly from 2009 for non businesses. Although at the same period Chapter 7 liquidation and Chapter 13 reorganization (the one for personal bankruptcy) indicated significant increases. This has been affirmed by well known Sacramento bankruptcy attorney Gerald Glazer.

The worldwide and US recession that began in December 2007 ended in June 2009. This makes it the longest since the Great Depression. The National Bureau of Economic Research confirms this as we have seen the worse 18 months in that same period. These businesses appear to be recovering now but personal bankruptcy still lingers because of long-term unemployment and re-employment of the same people with lower indicated earnings. I hope it would not happen to us anytime soon. I am hopeful that the country's economic managers would be able to formulate a way to produce safeguards so we wouldn't suffer the same fate. Otherwise we'll stay in the third world title for a longer time.

For Victims of the Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan

400 hundred people confirmed dead and hundreds more still missing; that is the thing that made my day miserable yesterday. It was horrific; just to see the actual tsunami take over the city of Tokyo, the Miyagi Prefecture and other provinces in the outskirts of Honshu. My heart was broken seeing people still inside their cars as they are being swept away parallel with yachts and fishing boats. Survivors desperately climb up their houses and wave white cloths as helicopters try and save whoever they can. There are still a lot of people under debris and probably having so hard to keep themselves alive after those set of waves that ravaged the country. My condolences to everyone in Japan. To the Japanese people, I only can do much but I am so heartbroken... I adore your country and your citizens... I sincerely hope you get through this.

I Should Have Been SMARTer!

It was my Mom's birthday a few days ago and we just had a grand celebration. Some of our relatives went to our house and celebrated this special day. Mom has around 13 siblings so you kinda get to understand how big "her" part of the family is and it is "doubly hard" to get them together at this day and age. Thank God for free video conferencing software; we got to talk some of them every once in a while through that medium. We seldom do this because I have one of the worse connections in the world. As much as I like how it does work with a mediocre 21/7 schedule... the connection is slow. Once you get a single person online with video you wouldn't be able to see the other ones; so much for conference calls if you can talk to only one person then huh?!

Then I remember... I got to see the better half of the Master Rapper Ms. Pia Magalona a few days before that who just switched to SMART Bro because of the bad experience she had on another provider's billing horror story... dang I almost wanted to throw mine out the window because of her speed tests.


Mine was 0.2 download and .02 upload with almost the same ping rate. Yeah I know... she did literally outSMART us all because we were on different connections. I'm a Computer Engineer by profession so I have a big idea what these rates are for. If I'm not getting the actual rate promised by my provider (which had the clause and word "UPTO" on all their packages) what am I going to do to get what I pay for?! EXACTLY my point!

With that out in the open I'll ask my Mom to wait for a few weeks while I weigh my chances getting a Smart Bro too. Check out one of the best things why I had to get one as soon as possible!

Marcelito Moy - Pilipinas Got Talent

This guy who looked like he grew up from the province and just happened to drop by the auditions literally blew away audiences here and around the world. Marcelito Moy had a very terrible childhood. His father got jailed, his Mom abandoned him and a police man took care of him and adopted him. He sang a few of Regine Velasquez' songs effortlessly and to tell you the truth he probably sang one or two of them better than her ha-ha! This guy though should be reminded to keep the songs to himself so he can wow them again the next time he gets back on stage. That'll be the deciding factor weather he'll stay or not. He was accepted on the next round and I'm sure he'll come a long way after this outing!

Do you guys think this is something like the one in the UK with Susan Boyle? I don't think so but I guess in some way he'll probably live a better life if he wins the title of Pinoy's Got Talent. Perfectly Bad and Perfectly Good

Sorry but I just can't get this out of my head after it got played several times last night at a bar in BHS. It's catchy and still Rihanna; and I kinda like it. It is borderline kinky but they stayed within their limits. This will probably be banned in the Philippines because of those hypocrites but what the heck I just love her!

Perfectly Good Ideas

I have seen a lot of improvement as far as SEO technologies is concerned on my site. I guess just like any web master I would really love to have my site listed to at least have maximum exposure. The readership demographic that I want to achieve is still within my age range and of the male form; it would be nice to see how they run this for a few weeks so I can see a huge difference weather the page views become higher or not. Getting the word out is still going to be a huge factor and it will be measured no matter what. I fervently hope that I get help with institutions like a ppc agency so they can help me with my plans. After I achieve that in a couple of month's maybe I will try to get my other site its own domain name.

It will be easier for people to find the site and become more efficient. Name recall would make it effortless to find among thousands of URL listings in the technology category and I know in some way it would be better to market something privately owned than plainly using publicly hosted ones. It's something so simple yet effective. Harnessing new ways of getting your audience is great as long as you do not lose quality. Articles half meant would make your loyal readers become a statistic rather than a returnee. I've seen that happen to a lot of people in this industry and I wouldn't want to be one of them. Get reputable people just like DELUXE to do this for you. These are smart choices for smart people and you get your money's worth!

In a day or age where any amount of money is important, we have to spend wisely! It's perfectly good!

The Greatest Woman On Earth!

She is the one who gave me life when I couldn't do any s#it about it. She made me feel special even if I already lost hope on myself. I hated her a couple of times when I was a kid because I couldn't go out that much to play. I swore a couple of times and never held back when I was really mad. She fed me much to get this big. She had so much fun when we go out and sent me to where my roots are. She took care of me when I was sick and made me study by force when I didn't want to. She scolded me when I don't come home at 6PM and spend most of the time outside; and hit me a few when I answer back too much.

I will kill for her. I can let her win all the arguments. I can let her hit me now because I'm to big already to get hurt. I can catch belts and hangers with my bare hands and crush them if I need to haha! I can buy something fancy for you if you want them that bad. I can do chores if you want me to just not washing dishes or doing laundry. I can cook anything from A to Z and try not to spice it up too much so you can all eat it. I want to tell you everything's okay now since I got to be goodlooking and handsome no matter how other people tell otherwise. I want you to know I'll be here even if you don't want me to.

Happy Happy Birthday Ma! Yeah I don't mind be called a Mama's boy as long as you are my Mom! =)
