AXN and GoDaddy's PROJECT GO Announces Winner

Friday, December 18, 2020

The word is out and yes, one team has finally won PROJECT GO. It's STAFFZ which is a hub for virtual assistants. The passion, the cause, it was a nice thing that they've gotten one impressive person who pitched this idea and now has the opportunity to make it a reality.

George Chien of KC Global Media says "This project was fun for us and partnering with GoDaddy was good even during the pandemic. This production was a challenge but with the resources that GoDaddy has, we pulled off a pretty exciting project. For all the contestants, I certainly learned a lot. We enjoyed the non traditional ideas as we deliver something really unique that would benefit a lot of people during the pandemic. If we have helped one person, that's already good."

James Carroll of GoDaddy International says "This series was a celebration of the Filipino entrepreneurial spirity. We are beyond grateful to provide them tools especially during these exciting times. I want to congratulate the winner, and all who have presented their ideas. I considered a number of things in the final pitch, how innovative was it? Is there a market? How clear and what approach they used? How did they execute it? That made the difference."

Jodi Valenta VP for Global Marketing of GoDaddy says "Their passion of helping others, that really touched me the most. It was a great experience to be thousands of miles away and see the show. It helps anybody understand the entrepreneurial spirit."

Mentor and host Maggie Wilson says "Before I take on a project I asked if this was going to make me grow. It makes peoples ideas real. I learned so much from my co mentors and the contestants themselves, I will take those with me. I saw a confident woman Pearl when you presented and thank you all so much for being part of this. This is something truly special."

Bea Cupin says "Thank you to everyone who watched the show. I learned so much from the mentors and the Top 4. I am so excited to see what else is in store with Filipino entrepreneurs. I also want to thank AXN Asia and GoDaddy Asia for making me a part of this. I hope you guys support Pearl and everyone in the top 4."

Mikko Tung says "I am so glad to have signed up for this because I will never forget this. I am so happy to be able to impart things through Project Go. Being a mentor, I never knew I would learn so much from the contestants. Sooner, it will be them teaching me a thing or two. I am 100% more humbled and inspiring. I want to congratulate everyone getting this far and you are all absolutely stellar. Pearl, I am so proud of you since day 1, this is only the beginning and congratulations on being the first winner of Project Go.

Mark Tung says "The experience was very challenging for me, I have always thought I dind't want to let down the other mentors and GoDaddy, thank you for the people involved in this. I saw how driven they are, I wasn't like this when I was their age. I give a lot of credit to these contestants. I got to meet them and share our experience, but I learned a lot from them. Congratulations Pearl for winning, I know you guys will make it work. You are in the right direction, we are just a message away, you guys are all winners.

Macky Tung says "When you are stuck at home you are a little uninspired, these guys have a platform and made their ideas come true. The behavior of people has changed before and after the pandemic. We saw that in Project Go, seeing these young entrepreneurs do it, I was going out and partying when I was in their age. They had plans, they knew how to market, on top of that they are thriving even during the pandemic. It's just really inspiring. It's not just after sales, you need to find your purpose and hit individuals that matter most. Never forget that, you e

Tina Shieh of GoDaddy says "It was an experience for us, we took social distancing to a whole new level. They are constantly sharing their expertise during a competition and we are so glad to be part of that. Listening to the whole thing, I really appreciate this whole journey of Project Go. Thank you to everyone who participated in this project."

Winner Pearl De Guzman of Team STAFFZ says "I am happy and grateful to be declared as the winner of Project Go. This is a big win. Actually, we are just overwhelmed with the messages we got especially after the announcement. Thank you to everyone who made the show, it's was an amazing experience for me and my team, we now have the tools to take our ideas off the ground to bring it to life. We now have a website built through GoDaddy and there's really no excuse to not have one. There was a lot of pressure all throughout that show and we just needed to tell them how we got our numbers. You just have to put your idea out there, take the first step. It has made our business model really fine tuned and we now know how to deliver our story. Right now we are looking forward to apply these ideas and we needed a big online presence and certainly, it was easier to have been able to use their tools during this pandemic."

AXN Originals Show Strength Amidst Trying Times

Sunday, December 13, 2020

AXN on Cable TV was a lifesaver during the pandemic because it kept everyone at home busy while the world was trying to solve COVID-19. They didn't shortchange from a content standpoint and instead have come out with ground breaking shows that are all original, catering to a multitude of cultures, and the whole region.

Shows like AXN All Stars showcased the different talents of AXN's biggest stars which was presented by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Indonesia. World stars like Afgan, Michael Bolton, Cosentino, Cyril Takayama, David Foster, Anggun and Mel C performed and was also streamed through AXN's Facebook page and YouTube Channel. Aside from that, they recently showed PROJECT GO together with GoDaddy to discover and mentor startups and entrepreneurs in the Philippines. We actually got to interview some of them a couple weeks ago when the reveal of the Final 4 happened. The show is hosted by Maggie Wilson, and judged by the Tung Brothers of Ligo Sardines Corp, Rappler's Bea Cupin and GoDaddy's Tina Hsieh. They also did Asian Dream which I followed religiously during lockdown in Manila. It's a singing competition hosted by Asia's Phoenix Morisette Amon where they pitted 7 singers from different countries in Southeast Asia for a once in a lifetime opportunity to perform with Grammy award winner Michael Bolton and tour with him around the world. The winner also got a Subaru car since it is presented by the same brand. Manila's very own Karl Zarate was my bet that time but he didn't get to win, it was so fun to see they did this very original reality show on AXN.

Aside from these, they also teased more content in the coming months as AXN and KC Global Media Asia will be coming out with even more orignal shows here and the other networks they are affiliated with. Two of them will be coming out on the first quarter of 2021 so make sure you're tuned in on these channels and KC Global Media Asia's website www.kcglobalmedia.com.

I will be looking forward for more of  what they have to offer as they continue to reach Asia and a global audience with their new programming.

GoDaddy and AXN Launch New Reality Show PROJECT GO

Friday, November 27, 2020

GoDaddy and AXN just launched a new reality show designed for entrepreneurs called PROJECT GO. They are doing this in partnership with Common Ground, #CanB, Esquire, Female Network, Manila Bulletin and Rappler. This is a chance to make their ideas a reality and earlier, they announced the 4 finalists who will vie for the title. Businesswoman Maggie Wilson is also the host of the show. The Tung Brothers (of popular sardine brand Ligo), Rappler Lifestyle and Entertainment Editor Bea Cupin and Tina Shieh, the Marketing Director for of GoDaddy for Asia will be mentoring these guys and gals. It airs every week on AXN Asia, this is part of their commitment so help people succeed online.

Among hundreds, the lucky groups are: MINDOCEO, STAFFZ, LOOP STORE PH and AO Innovations Tech.

MINDOCEO

An on demand tutoring service, where students help other students to support education. Noelle Mison says "We have the help of GoDaddy Tools and we got to really enjoy camaraderie with the other contestants. We all had to shift to digital, the website builder was pretty useful in the show. It also taught us how to survive online. In the next episodes, you will see how we all grow. You will see how we learned from our mentors. Initially, we did the tutorial sessions on location, but it became nearly impossible when the pandemic happened. We had to do it online now and we had to utilize the platforms to make your our idea a reality. Project GO is about empowerment. It gets us equipped for our own communities. It's not like Sharktank, not a cut throat competition. They fostered growth. Our standard is quality education, we don't do this for money, and we really want to help children because we know how it feels to be alone. To succeed globally, we need to support each other. To identify what needs to be given support, to look at education from a different view and find out how we can improve it.  We are a social business, we need to give back to achieve greatness, to contribute to our own communities."

LOOP Store PH

Is a collection of ecologically responsible products. They provide solutions that would make packaging and other items be sustainable and biodegradable.

Pocholo Espina says "We learned that product packaging really mattered, when people started posting more about it, there was brand engagement even in the pandemic. This pushed more innovations for what we have. You've got to keep going. Initially, our mindsets during the pandemic was to wait it out til its over, but we are motivated now to do it rather than wait. There might be a little drama which will keep us on our toes, you have to see that in the show. LOOP Store had to close down last June because of the pandemic. In the past months, we had to re-learn how to open our store online. Now everything is easily accessible. We also got to use an actual domain and use resource that was already there. It can be accessed and be just a search away. All you need to do is get started. Since a lot are online now, you have to invest learning the platforms. Project Go is not a competition, it's all about empowerment, we didn't get to be pit with each other. A lot of our own standards come from our own environmental stand. We are not about just selling alternatives, not just an item, but to educate you and teach that your actions will have long term effects. We need to consider fixing basic infrastructure, we are cutting off even now with the internet connection that we are using; and that won't work with global markets. There needs to be more support with government and private entities, cut bureaucracy, feed ideas so they won't get discouraged. We need to be inclined in getting more of that in the country.

AO Innovations Tech

AO Innovations makes full face masks for frontliners at subsidized rates. They utilize thier business to further push advocacy, and implement it with innovation. They quipped "It was exciting for us because we get to funnel our interests on our very own website. It is very important for us because our business is very dynamic. To pursue our dreams, to follow through, to make better with our families and our community. The GoDaddy team was so nice to give us tools that we could use to improve our products and services. In the next episodes you will see drama, you will see it all and will learn from what you will get to watch. I think Project Go as a contest is totally different, it is tech based, but it recognizes us beyond the product. We are for innovation and inventions, we want efficiency, to give our best every time and made it our standard. We believe we have come with a product that is current and answers a lot of things that are needed during the pandemic."

STAFFZ

This team offer back end solutions to SMB's so they could get career opportunities for those who need it most. Pearl De Guzman says "Ultimately, we really enjoyed the consultations we had with our mentors. There are a lot of opportunities online and with GoDaddy. With their tools, you can put up a website even from scratch. It made it easier to market the product. We have different stories, different branding, and you will see how we have all grown when the final pitch is up. All our clients are based online now too, the audience is also using social media groups, Facebook marketing, industry trends, to explore business opportunities outside your brick and mortar ways. You can also work on making your website on top of Google search results. Off cam, we are really close, despite having them as competitors, you'll get unbiased opinions from other contestants if what you are doing is not good and you will hear feedback right away. We need to have more opportunities for people that need it. For us, to succeed means to understand our customers first. To foster that relationship, so we could reach an even larger market."

Again, Project GO can be seen every Thursday at 8:25 PM on AXN. It can also be seen via AXN Asia and GoDaddy Asia’s YouTube channels, so you really won't miss it. Learn from industry experts and see who among these Filipinos will win Php 1 Million to make their dreams come true!

The Apprentice Asia's First Winner is Jonathan Yabut!

Wednesday, July 31, 2013

Yes it's true! The first ever winner of The Apprentice Asia is Jonathan Yabut from the Philippines.

Big dreams really come from small beginnings as this executive from Glaxo Smith Kline based in Manila bested 12 other contestants from the Asian region. We were there to cover the event and saw the other hopefuls too. Andrea Loh from Singapore was also there, she was the one which he had to battle with during  the last episode. The last task was not too easy either as they had to launch the AIR ASIA FOUNDATION which caters to Asian historical entities and funds various organizations and individuals that can nurture entrepreneurship within the region. It basically cares for those who are in need. It's Mr. Fernandes' vision of giving back to the same people who helped him build his empire. It's a noble gesture imho.

During the last battle, Andrea was a little nervous and got that in the way while speaking in front of dignitaries and VIP's that were invited to an auction. Jonathan on the other hand took the upper hand right from the beginning and chose to personally talk to each and everyone ultimately connecting with the audience and made Mr. Tony Fernandes choose him as the ultimate APPRENTICE ASIA winner! :)

Congratulations Jonathan! Thank you for making the Philippines proud!

The Firm: Premiers on AXN ASIA!

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

1

Classy, intriguing, dirty, fast paced and frivolous. That's how I describe this great new show on AXN called THE FIRM. Imagine an idealistic person joining a law firm in the hopes of getting startling cases and good directions but only ending up seeing how dirty politics is both inside and out the office plus the involvement of the real deal Chicago mobsters. That's THE FIRM's selling point and with it's 2hour episode premier last Sunday it has taken quite a buzz from courtroom drama/suspense aficionados here and outside the Philippines.

This is a continuation of the movie with the same name but it'll be set ten years after. I read this particular novel by John Grisham and you should too because there are other things in the book that probably won't be shown in the TV series. They just came out after a stint in the Wintness Protection Program and thought that they would be able to live normally again only to see that the same old enemies are there plus a lot of complications too in the story.

Make sure you catch the repeat telecast of The Firm's Pilot Episode to be shown on Feb 23 at 10:55 PM and on Feb 26 at 10:20 AM exclusively on AXN Asia - Asia's number one channel! For new episodes, check it out on Sundays at 9:55 PM.

The Voice Season 2 on AXN Asia!

Saturday, February 04, 2012

Photobucket

For those who moved like Jagger last year, The Voice Season 2 is back and showing soon on AXN Asia! You'll still get to see your favorite judges/coaches: POWER BELTER Christina Aguilera, HUNKY Adam Levine, PHENOM Cee Lo Green and COUNTRY SUPERSTAR Blake Shelton. Watch them bicker anew and find talents without the faces on February 6, 2012 all on AXN Asia!

Photobucket

This season, there is a new twist! Mark Burnett has gotten more fierce by letting 12 contestants now for each coach; so this will be a tougher year to choose talents, a tougher year to pic who's going to have a bigger kick out of the bucket. Just imagine the auditions that this particular program has to go through just to choose a couple of people for a life changing prize! Just ask Javier Colon who just started recording songs with Natasha Bedingfield and working with his mentor Adam Levine... things are just getting brighter! Not to mention runner ups Beverly McClellan and Vicci Martinez who are getting their own respective breaks too! Will you just stand there and watch mediocre reality shows instead of watching THE VOICE SEASON 2?! Exactly! Make sure you get those cable providers informed and get ready for a GREAT season! Remember February 6 at 10.55pm!

New on AXN: THE VOICE!

Monday, July 25, 2011

This has been one of the best talent shows that happened to US Television; for once there hasn't been anything like it that concentrated particularly on a blind audition... literally not seeing the contestant and just depending on the talent would take away judgement behaviors on looks alone. Things that might suade someone to vote because they just look good even if they sound mediocre would be out of the question. Professionals that don't have existing contracts yet with any record company were asked to audition and join this competition bringing them into teams representing six great artists of this time... this would be one heck of a talent show unparalleled anywhere else in the world... this is THE VOICE!

It has now reached Philippine shores through the one and only cable network that brings world class shows for Asia... AXN. Imagine 4 swiveling chairs containing the best in the industry with names like Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green (of famed single Forget You!), R&B diva Christina Aguilera and legendary country singer Blake Shelton. Be there as they decide 8 hopeful individuals to join their team in the finals. The big twist is they can actually be the ones to pit with each other if they find one or more contestants to be at par with their standards. When two or more chairs turn around for the contestant, the contestant has the right to choose who among the judges would play mentor... and I've seen a couple of them fight for that right. However if no chairs turn, it would mean a resounding GOODBYE for that contestant... something both parties wouldn't want to happen; but it did happen a lot during the preliminaries unfortunately.

Adam Noah Levine, one of my idols from Maroon 5 is one of the judges in THE VOICE. Watch as he clashes with opinions from other world renowned singers! Will his team win on this show?! Find out soon on AXN!

How do they win in the Finals?! That's where it gets sweeter. Teams will be pit against each other as each mentor shows their protege's to the world with what they will perform. The contestant who gets a lot of ITunes download/purchase would win the competition and the US$ 100,000 record deal FTW! They will however lose 2 of their members if they win for that particular week.

Christina Aguilera, one of four judges who will make a mark on THE VOICE, a new singing competition to be shown on Asia's best channel AXN!

Hosting the show is TRL's old (not in age) Carson Daly. Here's a clip from the Associated Press on his initial views about the show.

AXN will air a special two-hour hour show of The Voice this August 21st at 8PM and every Sunday hereafter. That's also 8PM in SG, MY, HK and 7pm JKT Indonesia. Watch out for that!

By the way! There are also big programs coming out in August for AXN, AXN Beyond, and ANIMAX. They're not holding back either because you'll see Teen Wolf, one of my favorite anime's Busuo Renkin, the stylist goddess Rachel Zoe's project and Top Chef. Why else would you want to watch elsewhere when they've got all of em here!

They even went all out on their Philippine Launch party over at AIM in Makati. I love how they made everyone be judges and experience the show on our own. We also had our version of the contest and the prizes were no joke! The watch was REALLY expensive LOL! Although I would have wished I won that one... really I do! =)

This was the part where they were explaining to us the ratings in US television's granularity. It got a lot of views on it's first season.

New shows and the current great shows will be retained next month. AXN is truly going to be exciting!

They made us experience how to be judges in this show. We became instant judges!

We did the blind judging too! Imagine how everyone voted for the contestants! They counted people who stood up for their choices! One lucky person won a very classy watch!

Thank you SO MUCH to AXN for that one! They even flew straight from Singapore just to be here on this momentous event!

Need I say more?! Watch shows on AXN okay?!
