Meet The Linksys Velop Dual Band Mesh Wifi System

Thursday, August 02, 2018

Having wifi at your business and home seems to be more of a need now. Truth is, people who go to restaurants, coffee shops, any business establishment for that matter would probably ask about your wifi password so they don’t get nervous or agitated when they’re not online. These days, people who manage these establishments have little to no technical knowledge about setting up wifi adapters, routers, repeaters, access points, modems or gateways, or even have time for it. Hiring people to do the job even costs a lot, not to mention the grueling maintenance of it. I’ve had the privilege of doing that work for years so I know it’s not that easy. You also have to worry about protecting your own network, mind the importance of data security and balance it with the need of your customers convenience at any time of the day.

Linksys has been in the industry for years now, and what they have been able to do is to service small offices/home offices with some of the world’s greatest networking devices both when they were still under Cisco and now that they are under Belkin. The Velop Home Wifi Mesh systems for example made it easier to set up wifi networks so you the ordinary user can set up good ones without complicating things as they employ propreitary setup softwares, making each step of the connection and management of it an easy one. They even employ security, new standard technologies that include tri band and dual band mesh systems so you get excellent coverage no matter where you are in the office or at home.

These systems are seamless, use only one wifi name and can even help you conncect everything together via an app, tell you specifically where to choose a location for the other access points so you get latency, throughput or repeater related problems to not happen if you’re setting it up. This means there’s no guess work, plus you can manage guest access, security, parental control, even automated firmware upgrades so you don’t have to do it yourself. That means if there are firmware issues/bugs discovered on the device or new features added on the Linksys Velop Dual Band Mesh Wifi System, it would need less maintenance (which is a great deal if you’re managing a business).

3 nodes you can place in different spots, making sure you have proper coverage inside your home/office.

The 2.4GHz and 5GHz band would be also useful for your devices who work in that frequency. This can also work with B, G, N and AC IEEE wireless standard devices, tri band or dual band can also connect with each other, so those old ones can work with new ones in the same network - without any hitches.

Good thing is, this works fine with ISP supplied modem/gateways. If you are also iffy about wireless connection for your other gadgets, the nodes have 2 ethernet ports each so go ahead if you want to. It also self selects the clearest channel for your devices, if you’re very OC like me, I’d be very satisfied with its performance. They also took time designing this with simple clean lines, white profile so it doesn’t look ugly at all.

Visit linksys.com and their social media channels if you want to know more about it. I’ll have it in my home very soon, you should consider these in yours too.

Belkin Unleashes New Wireless Charging Pads at Power Mac Center

Friday, July 06, 2018

Spent the afternoon at the Power Mac Center branch in Powerplant Mall in Rockwell.

Belkin has been in the industry since 1983. Producing products and accessories that makes live better, they added more today at Power Mac Center. PMC's Marketing Director Joey Alvarez says "We made sure we provide better third party accessories such as Belkin in our stores. Today we are launching new technologies, Belkin Wireless Charging Pads, Belkin TrueClearPro 2, to make our lives easier."

Victor Reyes of Belkin adds "Belkin is a family, from Belkin International. We have 4 brands Belkin, WeMo, Linksys and Phyn. WeMo is for home automation, home security, a pioneer under the wemo brand. Linksys does soho networking devices. Phyn is for intelligent water solutions which can notify you for leaks and technologies about it, Belkin does good accessories. We have partnered with Apple so we could do 7.5W wireless charging, but now we have a new one which can do 10W. We won design awards consistently, we are launching 2 of them today."

Jenny from Belkin HK says "The iPhone X and iPhone 8 wireless charging has been talked about 5x when it was launchex. It's convenient, clean, sleek and would save you from seeing clutter for cables. You don't have to have 2 cables too because you can charge both phones on iOS or Android in one go. Plugging in on usb ports is also a security risk, this makes it totally safe and is beneficial when you do wireless charging. These new products from Belkin are Qi Certified. It's safe from overheating, less risk of device damage, and now is good as it is Lithium Ion batteries in most phones. The BOOST UP Wireless Charging Pads support 5, 7, 9 and 10W. The 9/10W is being released July/August (today), later this year we will have car chargers (car port/window mount) that support the same. Every device will have an extended 3 year warranty."

"The TrueClear Pro system on the other hand is where protection meets precision. When you purchase one in partner stores, we install them for free. 90 percent of people want screen protector right after they buy a phone. It's slow, it's hard and expensive. This is why we designed the TrueClear Pro System so it can be installed in a few minutes. Store associates have been using this worldwide, it is now available in Power Mac Center in the Philippines."

Now I'm sure you've had your share of horror stories with third party accessories, but Belkin is licensed, has been doing this for years. If their awards and recognitions for design doesn't convince you to purchase premium products from Belkin and their subsidiaries, I don't know what will.

I know they know how to make these things, they're pretty good at it.

The Coolest Gadgets for Summer 2016

Sunday, February 28, 2016

Spent the evening with the good people from Digits Trading. They're one of the largest gadgets and accessories distributors in the country. I couldn't even fit in my hands what brands they have but it includes Marshall, Braven and some new ones like Vest (that does anti radiation accessories) and Fuse Chicken (which have Apple accessories). We're here to find out some of the coolest gear for Summer 2016.

This is the vest Anti Radiation Headset. If you're looking for best deals on electronic gadgets, this is a good place to start. The thrust this year is to get your gadgets to become more healthy and safe. It makes sense since we're using them for a long time. The wired headset is made sturdy, and the concept is to lessen the radiation while you're listening to your favorite songs on your smart phones. If you're streaming music or video, this would actually help and lessen radiation worries for you and your family. I'd definitely consider this as one of the coolest things you can have this summer. Now the only thing left is a trip to a beach or that lovely destination you've been thinking of all year.

There's also a wireless version of it, this is the vest anti radiation Bluetooth headset. If you're not a fan of wires then this would be a great alternative. It's a little pricey, almost twice the price. Hopefully we can get more affordable gadgets by getting the best shopping coupons at http://www.myvouchercodes.ph/.

Aside from the Earphones, vest also has Anti Radiation smart phone cases for iPhone 6S and 6S+. It protects your phone from bumps and drops. It also gets you about 89% less radiation exposure without compromising signals with an additional PCB for your antenna.

The vest Radiation Shield can prevent those that are coming from your laptop's battery and WIFI antenna. It also would be a good thing for heat reduction, confidently making you work without worries of exposure up to 92%.

Fuse Chicken boasts of the IPHONE phone dock, car dock, Apple Watch dock and Titan. They're made with the toughest cable on Earth and I think they have every right to claim that since it's made of industrial grade cable that is made of high strength steel. It is both flexible and might probably be the last charging cable you'll ever need in your lifetime. It works best for your phone that uses lightning cables. You'll never see it peel off or get chewed by your pets. I wanted to have this long cable actually because I have already bought about 4 original ones and they all got ruined after daily use. This for me is a solution, and hopefully we get to experience it soon.

Then we saw the BRAVEN BRV-PRO speaker and accessories.

This one is the Stacking Plate, which you can use to stack multiple BRAVEN speakers so they can sync with your Bluetooth connection and play music on a whole different level. I actually have an older model and just like it, the BRAVEN plays super crisp audio without distorting it too much with too much bass. You'll love it!

To make your speaker fancy, this one is their Glow Deck. If you're out in the woods, you won't have to use your precious batteries because it glows with LED's while you're playing music in the background.

This is the Action Mount. You can now go on adventures, ride your bikes, drop through mountains and still have that music play while you're doing everything.

For environmental freaks, if you run out of batteries, don't worry because you've got the BRAVEN Solar Panel. Just go and tuck it out on a sunny day and it'll charge your device automatically.

If you run out of phone batteries, don't worry because you've got this Battery Pack to help you through your camping activities. Just hook it up and use it like a power bank in those emergency situations. You've got the best gadgets within your reach, now go get them before your next beach destination. You'll love it like I do!
That's our roundup of the coolest gadgets you can have this summer. Make sure you get them while it's hot literally, and figuratively. Everything is available in Digital Walker or Beyond the Box Stores nationwide!

The MacPower x Pioneer Insurance Event

Saturday, February 20, 2016

We're no stranger to Pioneer and how they have developed affordable insurance services in the country. They have several branches in Metro Manila but quite a few know that they're actually easy to see online too. They've launched a couple of months ago the Pioneer Insure Shop at https://shop.pioneer.com.ph/ and I was lucky enough to experience getting covered there for an out of town adventure, much more apt for those who are into outdoor sports or extreme sports as they call it. Now it's easy to get everything with a few clicks if you need Travel and Health insurance.

Here's some snippets from the event:

Oh and if you're going to Europe soon, you might want to get their Travel Light package which costs very low than industry standards, and even go the mile helping you with Weather Reports, Health Precautions, Immunizations, Required Visas, Interpreter Referral, Lost Baggage, Lost Passport Assistance, Embassy and Consular Information. That's already an arm and a leg of service but they're practically giving it for a low amount, you should call if you need that soon. If I only knew they had it I would have taken it for my folk's Ireland trip. Anyway, I'd probably call 7505433 next time or email them if I decide to push through with my trip (perhaps later this year).

There were a ton of us there during the event. We had fun talking to Pioneer executives and their team, plus the people from MacPower. MacPower Marketing Corporation is an IT and Accessories distributor in the Philippines that carries tons of brands in their arsenal. Whether it's audio, video, or just about anything that you can stick in your phone, they have it on their silos. You may get them in Switch stores, selected 7-11 outlets metro wide. Aside from that, I took interest with the ones they brought in the event. Take a look at these!

The Lumee case, the ultimate selfie tool used by Kim Kardashian and their whole family! This just looks so good no matter what the condition your lighting is. Costs around 3K for the iPhone 6 case and about a few hundred more for the iPhone 6 Plus.
This Wetsuit Impact case makes your phone almost indestructible, like a 30lb weight won't break it, and even makes your phone hella waterproof. Or maybe that's another case lol.
The Belkin Family Rockstar leaves you with tons of space for your other gadgets to charge in. The 4 port usb charger just rocks in my books. I didn't get one during the contest and I was a little sad LOL.
The good news is, MacPower is selling some of their gadgets together with the Pioneer Insurance coverages so when you buy something from them, you get to go out on adventures while you're covered for FREE. Now that's good news by any standard. To know more about Macpower, please check them out at https://www.facebook.com/MacpowerPH. Hopefully soon we could get some of their devices reviewed here too as they're very eager to lend us some of their wares. Now I'm extra excited!

Thank you Pioneer and Macpower Marketing Corporation for having us in your gathering! It was a pleasure meeting you all!
