Forest Lake Releases "PAGPAG" Video: A humorous take on Pinoy Superstitions

Thursday, October 31, 2024

After having a few of these videos on their social channels and website, the folks at Forest Lake just recently released its 4th installment, just in time for Halloween, and they call it PAGPAG.

For those who don't know, Filipinos have this thing they do right after visiting a relative/friend/loved one from a wake, right after mourning for them in a chapel/place, they must go to a different place before they actually go home. It's a superstitious belief, that when they don't do that, spirits will actually go to their homes and become restless souls.

Forest Lake actually uses these useful mediums to send their message across about preparing for the unexpected. According to Alfred Xerez-Burgos III their CEO and President, Filipinos desire to always have peace of mind, and telling this story would make the matter a bit light to watch and understand. This one talks about different ways to prepare, the other videos they released tackled unpredictability, bad luck and getting taller on a New Year's Eve.

This new video teaches people how to lessen stress when it come to memorial services, and the things that come with it. This also includes a serious look in what you need for yourself, or your loved ones when the time comes. To not be a burden to those you left behind, while they are already stressed from their loss. Forest Lake does Total Memorial Care services. You can do interment wherever it is possible, give free interment details, QRonicle so you can send shots and stories to family or friends, plus a Customer Portal so those who are far away could look at it online when they need to. If you want to know more, just search ForestLakeMemorialParks on Facebook, IG, and their channels.

KRISPY KREME Opens Blue Ridge Branch in Quezon City + HALLOWEEN Donuts!

Tuesday, November 01, 2022

Folks at the Katipunan -Eastwood and Blue Ridge areas should be jumping for joy as the good folks from Krispy Kreme just set up a Krispy Kreme Factory Branch at Blue Ridge (along Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City). This means it'll be easier to get those lovely, soft, pillowy donuts that's loved by so many right here in the north.

For those who don't know, a Factory Branch is different from the usual Krispy Kreme kiosk you see in malls and establishments. This means that the store caters to the area, cooking donuts fresh so you get the best ones when you go to a Krispy Kreme branch near you.

I made these! :) One is a garden, a monster, and a flower bed.

During the event, they also had us make our own Krispy Kreme donuts, and since it was Halloween, the 2 floor space of this store was full to the brim of other bloggers and influencers dressed as their favorite character for the season. Krispy Kreme also arranged several performances from real deal actors and actresses a whole musical filled with our favorite songs from Broadway to Disney.

Here's what happened on video (please watch closely as we're featuring the different donuts they have for Halloween that is available on a limited time):

We also got to talk to the Chief Operating Officer Sonny Tiong from Krispy Kreme Philippines and here's what he said about the new store!

Oh and when you see the HOT LIGHT turn "ON" on this particular branch, you can get a FREE glazed donut on the house (for those who are also buying of course!). The cute Halloween themed donuts will only be there for a limited time so make sure you get them all. They serve coffee, juices and other beverages too, so make the trip down Katipunan Avenue to get them fresh off the factory! Look for the Krispy Kreme bow tie sign, you wouldn't miss it!

Halloween Fun at Ayala Ferndale Homes

Wednesday, October 31, 2018

I had a lot of fun a few days ago at Ayala Ferndale Homes in Quezon City. For those who don't know, this is an exclusive subdivision for the more affluent people in the metro so when we got an invitation I packed my bags and headed over to their community at the edge of Don Mariano - Tandang Sora district in the same city.

UAAP stars and UP mainstays Juan and Javi Gomez De Liano started to learn the ropes in this village, in the community court

Honestly, there were a few more villages in the area that I've never even heard of and security is very tight. I felt it was nice to see how they celebrated Halloween and the theme this year was obviously COCO, the animated movie that talked about the day of the dead. In the past, they all did the scariest stuff and this year, they told us this is a breath of fresh air especially for the kids who they didn't want to traumatize when this occasion comes. Them doing this NaCOCOtakot theme, was just amazing!

Here's our video blog, enjoy!

Thank you so much to Ms. Sally Jo, the people who organized the event and to Homeowners Association President Atty. Felipe Cruz and his whole family (even the one who cooked the lovely lasagna!) who accommodated us into their home and community. We had a wonderful time! Thanks to Alfonso Felipe (in touching photo above) who also took time talking to us before we went home. The community surely is tight nit, the kids had so much fun and it was just a day to celebrate all that! Again, thank you for letting us experience it all in one fine day!

Thank you!

A Festive Halloween with Philips

Friday, October 30, 2015

It's near and you'll have to make arrangements for that special Halloween celebration with your kids and family. Wondering how to do it without buying the usual stuff in the malls? That's easy if you've got Philips helping you to do it.

If you're a Mom and have Philips’ Airstyler at home, that's one thing you can use for your lovely kids. You can turn them from boring hair to almost evil and wicked witch of the west! Jazz it up with a little face paint and a little effect, you can really scare those neighbors who want to hold on to those precious candies your kids deserve. If you want a more glamorous version, you can opt for the SimplySalon Curler and whip up awesome hair and attract people with a sexy version instead. That's not just for kids, for adults too!

For those who want to throw the greatest but healthiest party, you can do it with the Philips Food Processor. Just go get some fruits like mangoes, kiwi, melon, watermelon, then peel them with a paring knife or just take out the pith. Freeze them for a couple of hours or so then chop them up so it could fit in the opening on the food processors top.Slowly add them in and blitz it for a couple of seconds, spike it with vodka and add a little sugar water, and you have the greatest fruit based punch ever made! I eyeball it most of the time and it's a hit with my friends and relatives. You can do without the vodka though if you would like it to be more healthy, but really, it's a Halloween party and who doesn't like booze right?

For some light snacks, you can buy of your supermarket's frozen section those kilograms worth of French Fries, brush them a little bit of canola oil. The healthier version would be just leaving them as is and putting them into the Philips Airfryer for 10 minutes. Flip it around and do another 10 minutes so you could do the other side. Just remember not to crowd the whole basket in it too much because you won't get that crispy texture on these fries even. Better fries have less oil, not too greasy and yes, cooked perfectly! I opt to put in less salt too so it won't hurt your kidneys.

Don't you think it looks legit already? You don't have to spend a few hundred dollars just to get that perfect look during Holloween, you just need to get a little smarter with  Philips. You may visit www.philips.com.ph or like the Philips Home Living Facebook fan page if you are inching to get your family and friends do the celebrations in a more healthy way this month. I'm sure I do!

Saturday, October 25, 2014

Tonight is the night of the most popular Halloween event in the Philippines. It's the Cream Halloween Ball but they're doing it slightly different now. This year they are paying homage to the most popular series in the US and dubbing this one as CREAM OF THRONES.

This time, they're ushering in a great costumy event with full battle gears, royalty and sword wielding people at the World Trade Center. Spinning later is TENISHIA and BENGOLD. Also in the event are Ian Sndrz, Marxx Monterola and MC Lavoce so you'll never run out of music until the morning comes. Dress to impress but only with the Game of Thrones theme in mind. Who knows, you might find a queen too, not your sister!

For tickets to the event, please go to the world trade center and purchase it there. There are no tickets released yet so don't be scammed! That easy.

Photos: Bigfish: Cream Halloween Ball 2012!

Monday, November 05, 2012

Halloween was a blast! Sure enough, we won't be left behind because I had so much fun too during the CREAM Halloween Ball 2012 at the World Trade Center! The place was packed! And we were there to take a couple of shots of some interesting individuals in their costumes! The theme was "under the sea" but a lot of them just showed up in whatever they had in mind. Quite an awesome crowd!

There was this cute huge Octopus on top of the DJ's booth! Too bad we didn't get to take part in the press con earlier that evening! Trance and House music... I love it!

The lights they used was world class! That's why I love events by BIGFISH! They know how to party!

I saw him outside before he came up on stage. This is DJ John Paul Lee! He was so awesome spinning some Pop ones into Trance electronica tracks. The crowd went wild!

With Princess Sarah and Wonderwoman hehe

Dressed in full battle gear these guys were like black ops! =)

Superheroes like Iron Man, Captain America can be seen here with one of the usher mermaids that evening!
Pretty noh?

All kinds of Princesses in all shapes and sizes were there too. They must have been looking for a Prince like me =)

I was waiting outside for a smoke then she just came in. I like her. Can someone tell me who she is? =) But I think she came in with her boyfriend haha!

One of the most impressive costumes I've seen that evening is Mystique. By the way, he's a guy. So just imagine how much work he's done to achieve this look. I heard him ask people not to touch him inside the venue because it would get the things he put on himself removed. He had a couple of thumbmarks on his back hehe. And of course in places where he's perspiring!

Lara Croft and Race Car pit crew member anyone? Hehe they're pretty no? =)

This was awesome, he was with a group of Mummies but he was the only one who I was able to ask for a photo. He had bandages all over and they had special pads on their feet so they can walk =)

Pretty too. She was following the theme. Here's Ursula! =)

Then when we were about to leave some boys were outside too

Which made me remember to download some of DJ Deadmau5's tracks =)

Oh and before I forget, Pamela Anderson Lee was also there!

Surely the winner! =) Thanks Jason!

See what you missed? It pays to go to CREAM HALLOWEEN BALL 2012! I just can't wait for more of BIGFISH MANILA'S Gigs this coming year!

Awesome, just awesome!

BIGFISH CREAM Halloween Ball 2012 : Under the Sea!

Friday, October 12, 2012

The biggest parties, the grandest events and the awesomest gathering of people in the country just got even better as Freedom Music holds the one and only “BIGFISH CREAM Halloween Ball 2012”!

Dubbed as the best Halloween event in the country, no one has even tried to be as successful as this one and we can't undermine the list of DJ's coming to perform for us at the World Trade Center come October 27, 2012!

DJ John Paul Lee, spinning against the best of European and American artists never fail to amaze the audience with his upbeat, modern mixes of pop - house and trance as he represents the country one track at a time. I was there when he did the Black and White Parties and people were raising their hands, closing their eyes and feeling the music whenever he does it like most Asians do. I adore him, he's good!

Chris Raeuber, just like John Paul Lee is one of the resident DJ's of BIGFISH Manila. Playing House, Progressive House and Electro genres he has impressed some of the most impressive names in the industry. He also has been able to spin in some of the biggest gigs all over the Philippines where countless pinoys, non pinoys get thrilled and mesmerized with his kind of music! Watch as he pounds the roof once again when CREAM Halloween Ball happens on October 27!

MC LAVOCE who startled people during the Ministry of Sound event in the Philippines and several tours outside the country will be also in this year's CREAM HALLOWEEN BALL celebration to make you realize you've been living under a rock all these years. His attack using new tracks, classic ones he also did during several engagements for AXE, Godskitchen will surely fire up anyone's engine as he plays the best hits all in one set. You obviously can't be too ready for this guy who promises a better playlist each time he come up the stage and connects his spinners everyone absolutely adores!

Sean Tyas, a New York based DJ and producer won't just sit around and let you lay on your a$$ when he can whip up original hits and music or maybe existing ones while executed and make it his own. Unbelievable, you surely won't stop raising your hands and spinning around when he comes to the post. Sean Tyas will make you sorry you even bothered to dress up, coz you're gonna get wasted as you step on the dancefloor while he's playin!

Simon Patterson, aside from his great looks is a great trance DJ and producer who hails from London. The European circuit has been good to him and hit after hit he's become one of the most formidable DJ's that region has ever produced. He's been a resident DJ at the posh spots at the Londoner Club, The Cross and many more.

Oh and yes of course I have to emphasize that you guys have to dress up! No excuses! Just look at these guys who made the event last year!

Clear? So make sure this year dress up with this theme in mind!

UNDER THE SEA!
