McJim Shorts Score Nominations Worldwide

Wednesday, September 12, 2018

McJim has always been my go to brand for belts, bags and leather accessories. In the recent years, they’ve been able to touch base with campaigns that have elevated Filipino products that are worthy to be called world class. Have you seen their shoot in Montreal Canada? If I didn’t know that happened I’d gladly mistake their ware from another country, so it really makes me proud to see how successful they have become in the leather business showcasing things that are manufactured, designed and created all in the Philippines - but for a global audience.

Aside from that, they have also released heartwarming videos depicting the Filipino persona , how we live - and how ordinary people like you and me in so many ways use their products, not hardsell. I personally like that about them and with these videos, it’s like a slice of life. It in turn becomes honest, relatable, so even if it is showcased on the web initially, it still was able to get the nod of a total of 22 prestigious film festivals in countries like the US, the UK, Italy, France, Australia, Mexico, Venezuela and others. It’s a record breaking feat for any brand based in the Philippines.

Director Chris Cahilig notes that his short films “Pitaka” (The Wallet), “Sinturon” (Belt) and “Bag” can now be considered are at par with the world’s best branded commercially produced films. He says “McJim has always been inclined to adhere with their simple philosophy of style, quality and elegance. McJim is always committed to showcase not just the world class leather goods but also same world class films.”

True enough the short film “Pitaka” has already participated in international film festivals like San Mauro Torinese International Film Festival 2018, Cefalu Film Festival in Palermo (in Italy), the Diwa Filipino Film Showcase of Seattle 2018, Culture of Life Film Festival 2018 in Memphis, 2019 Dramatic Shorts Film Festival in Denver, Colorado and Los Angeles CineFest 2019 all in the US. It talks about fraternal love, how one cares for a younger brother portrayed by Karl Medina and boyband 1:43’s Art Artienda.

It was then followed by another short film called “Sinturon” (The Belt) which was showcased in Nebrody Film Fest and Corti A Sud-Polla In Corto (bothe in Italy). It was also invited to participate at the Love Shorts Film Festival 2019 in the US. This piece was done with veteran independent actors Kiko Matos and maven of indie films Ms. Mercedes Cabral. This talks about marital infidelity which is a no-no in a very conservative Philippine society.

Their latest one “Bag” on the other hand just got in to 12 official selections for the brand in different international film festivals. This is LGBT themed, inclusive, even as McJim may have identify as a male brand, they are inclusive and it reminds us about having a more progressive society rather than applied tolerance. Certainly groundbreaking.

If you would want to watch these short films, they are still up on their page Facebook.com/OfficialMcJim.

Please continue to do the country proud!

McJim is Indeed World Class

Friday, April 27, 2018

You've never seen McJim this way. The popular Filipino leather goods brand has been imposing itself in the lifestyle accessories market utilizing local crafted products while looking world class, I can't say I'm surprised.

I have personally used leather bags, wallets, belts in the past and true enough, they have lasted years for me. The secret I think is the classic design, things that do not age or go out of style even if it's not in season. It's things that still match your wardrobe even if you wear something funky, something crazy, sexy, cool or classy. It's the ability to look good regardless of your mood swings, because it can stand on it's own.

McJim leather belts on the other hand comes with brown, modern black and reversible buckles, so you don't even have to make an effort to wear similar clothing, no matchy matchy themes because it can adapt to your style no matter how much you change tops or bottoms throughout the day.

I recently also changed wallets and even if I paid a little less than branded ones, I know my black McJim wallet would last a long time. In the looks department, I know I'm not shortchanged at all becaus I've always known that the Filipino brand McJim has always been world class.

Didn't you feel that when you had one? I'm sure you do!

McJim: Local but World Class

Thursday, February 22, 2018

I’ve been watching McJim Leather lately and they’ve gone quite great lengths churning out new designs that would be perfect for the classy Filipino man. Just a few months ago they did an international shoot in Montreal Canada showcasing some of the best pieces they have in their collection from black and brown leather wallets, casual to classy leather belts with proud buckles, shoulder bags, cross body bags, gadget bags, full on leather ones that would impress anyone that would see it. They’ve honestly been paving the way in changing the way people see how local products quality should look like. By making sure they have control over what comes out of their factories, and have it not just follow but set a trend of making these local products superior, making them world class, a direction they have undertaken regardless of how much it would cost because now we’ve got some of the best, and Filipinos are enjoying it.

These items now have the ability to mature elegantly and last a long time. That means that even if there’s a small premium in price compared to local ones in the market, you get your moneys worth because it will end up lasting a bit more as they prioritize quality. I’ve personally bought the wallets and belts which they sell in leading department stores because of that. It has lasted me for years and if it weren’t for a change in season (and a lot more membership cards) I wouldn’t have felt the need to change one because style wise, classics would never go passe.

They are going further, they had the opportunity to create great things and they have achieved it. I wish there was a way all other brands would follow suit so when you hear something LOCAL it wouldn’t mean we’re compromising quality. McJim is world class, and they’re not afraid of showing it. Might as well, if you pass by a kiosk in deparment stores, take a real good look at it and see how they’ve changed over the years.

The Coolness of McJim’s Classic Leather Bags

Tuesday, November 28, 2017

I've been dreading to talk about this for a long time because I think this should be a staple, and shouldn't be shunned by Filipino men. Part of McJim's latest campaign which was shot entirely in Montreal, Canada are these classic leather bags. In these days they are fondly called Man Bags, because of obvious reasons but how many guys really carry one? Sadly, not a lot, but what they don't see is the potential of this accessory to actually be a staple rather than the crippling knapsacks that don't fit special occassions where men want to look fresh and stylish.

These fine bags from McJim are special, handcrafted pieces that would make you, the modern Filipino man more confident, upscale, and very stylish without really compromising function because these bags actually can house your gadgets too. From your office files, your cameras, phones and tablets, they wouldn't be out of place in these bags because they're really made for that function. The sturdiness of leather and the craftmanship that went into this would make sure you have ample amount of support if you have these inside. There's no doubt about that.

You can also have these pieces in casual events, formal ones, even the office and it wouldn't actually feel out of place because McJim made sure the deisgns would actually fit your lifestyle even if you are relaxed, presenting at work, or doing romantic stuff with your loved one. It's also got simple lines, matches your outfit and is available in different colors. I guess it's about time to go to McJim branches nationwide and get these ones as soon as the mall opens.

I'm using one right now and as long as you take care of the leather and use it often, you won't have problems at all. It's manly, smells good, looks good at any angle too. Visit their Facebook page today to know more about it.

That easy.

McJim Goes Global: The Montreal Shoot

Sunday, July 16, 2017

I couldn't believe my eyes seeing Filipino leather brand McJim being immortalized in shots made and done in Montreal, Canada. It's the largest municipality in Quebec Province which is home to a mix of communities of French Canadians, Brits, Asians and natives. The achitecture is a mix of gothic, bohemian, modern, industrial and even pop. They have 4 seasons and gets to extremes during summer and winter. They also got it's name from Mount Royal which sits nearby. It's population is around 6 Million and was the center of commerce up until the 70's wherein Toronto had surpassed them. Their style is primarily urban, yet very classic, very stylish and is dictated mostly by the climate, but they never forget to be fashionable all year round and this is where McJim comes in the picture.

These were done by Models LCP, a North American based male modeling agency. With a location like the cobblestone streets of Old Montreal, it just looked so good on photos.

McJim specializes in quality classic leather, as it now stands, their wallets just looked phenomenal on these guys even if they are caucasians. Proving to most that classics can never go wrong no matter what place in the world you may be.

I owned one of these man bags and with a good suit, you'll be definitely turning heads in formal or office locations.

Messenger bags on a light day if you want to carry around a laptop and a few files. You can work in style and go out on a date in the evenings, it looks good on you any time of the day.

I prefer long wallets like these especially because I have a lot of cards to keep. Now you can have them in one place with your money neatly placed inside. You don't have to be too rough around the edges.

A staple for every man, a good belt. Don't pull those pants each time you walk and just make your look extra snappy. It's going to make your assets stand out too at the back, ladies love that.

For business, casual, work and play, McJim can always fit your wardrobe. Make these leather items an essential part of your everyday wear and you won't get wrong. Thanks to photographer Nick Merzetti who shoots Toronto Fashion Week for immortalizing these photos. It looks so genuinely stylish and classy. Congratulations McJim!

McJim Classic Leather Launches Dreams Get Real: The Search for the Next OPM Star Season2

Wednesday, September 02, 2015

After the very successful first season of McJim Classic Leather's Dreams Get Real: The Search for the next OPM Star, here they go again and launched it's second season to discover new Filipino talents and promising acts all for the love of OPM. They've already made headlines with last years champs Fifth Dynamics, JBK and Neo Domingo and this time, they're going to amp up the ante with fresh voices, bigger, better and brighter stars in Dreams Get Real history.

Chris Cahilig the Dreams Get Real Project Head says "The level of competition is just mind blowing because during the eliminations, we were just pain stricken in choosing the top 10. It was around a hundred entries then we had to choose 20 for the mall eliminations. After that, we had the top 8 then add 2 more wildcard entries so we could complete the final 10. At this point, I've noticed that they are all talented but we're looking for that perfect one who has star quality. In this group, with proper guidance, we're going to have a star! We've been waiting to introduce to you the 10 finalists of this competition. The company has sternly supported OPM all these years and we've even had OPM artists as endorsers so it is inherent for the brand. The winners last year is about to launch their debut albums, all in a span of two months so please watch out for that. We also have the contestant's videos up on our youtube and social media channels and all will be culminated at the Music Museum and announced on November 9, the process is rigorous and we'll have the brightest star among them, we can't wait for you to see them all!"

These contestants are comprised of students, amateur and professional singers, people from all walks of life and some of them noted that this is a lot different from competitions they've joined in the past. The top 10 contestants are Zsarina Concepcion, Eiffel Manansala, Carmela Ravanilla, Micah Llona, CJ Raneses, Tricia May Casauay, Erickson Malabanan, Kym Penoso, Abigail Mendoza and Apple Delleva. Some of them have frequented competitions but some of them are totally new.

The competition will make thesr guys and gals win a full album, their own music video, Php 100,000 cash prize from McJim Classic Leather, artist marketing support (which they'll find very important!) and a talent management contract. For more details about the competition, please like their Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/OfficialMcJim so you can catch these performers as they battle it out with other artists very soon!
