HERO Foundation: It's time to be HEROES for our HEROES' CHILDREN!

Sunday, June 16, 2013

I went to Trinoma a few days ago to attend the launch of the new donation boxes that the HERO Foundation was putting up in strategic locations nationwide. These new boxes actually contain something evidently touching because on the half part of it are dog tags. It symbolizes the soldiers who have donated their lives for the country. Now it's your turn to help them out!

You see, we have men and women working in the Armed Forces to keep our country safe from those who want to wreak havoc or occupy it. Some also are insurgents in the South or communists rebels too. In the battle field, there are heavily armed men and these soldiers can either get hurt or slain while serving their country. What happens is that they leave their families and relatives behind. Who's going to take care of them? Who's going to pay for their education? That's where the HERO Foundation comes in to help.

HERO Foundation has helped hundreds of kids to go to school and they continually are getting huge corporations as sponsors so these kids who had their parents killed in action or disabled still have a chance to finish their studies and help their own families too.

Take for example this gallant solider who nearly lost his life to an ambush by rebels in Mindanao. He couldn't work anymore and he has kids who are still studying. He wanted to have himself killed even so the enemies won't get information from him. God and some of his fellow soldiers helped him and after he has survived, HERO foundation helped him to get his daughter be sent to school.

Celebrities and bands like SixCycleMind and Callalily also attended the event so they could show their support for HERO Foundation. This is Kean Cipriano's birthday so it was really special for him to finally get to help a foundation such as HERO. These bands know how important education is for these kids and they didn't hesitate to help when they were asked. They even performed for the crowd and made it even more special by dedicating songs to the cause. Here's an excerpt of their performances that afternoon!

Praybeyt Benjamin Marching on Theaters October 27!

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

If you haven't heard of it yet you might be the most SEVERE person there is. Praybeyt Benjamin will be shown on theaters come October 27, 2011. Premier night will be on October 11 too. Watch as Vice come out with antics on this military-mulanish movie with legendary actors of Philippine cinema like Eddie Garcia, Jimmy Santos and "Inay" Malou De Guzman. I had a ton and a half of laughs just viewing the trailer itself, so just imagine how much you'll be doing that come showing day.

Here's also something I picked up from the press conference. Watch how Eddie Garcia, DJ Durano and "The Amir" Carlos Agassi admit they also had gay experiences. That part was really somewhat shocking!

Aside from the gender issues, this movie has touched a couple or more of society problems. It has been addressed in a very wholesome way. It was a breeze making this film as Vice Ganda said to the media. Even though people might think that this would be a spin off to the popular Hollywood film, the plot of the story is actually nearer a Disney Classic (Mulan) than anything else says Director Wen De Ramas. True enough his other blockbuster film Petrang Kabayo was also patterned to Beauty and the Beast. It made sense to all of us after that.

Also in this film is Derek Ramsay who plays as Vice Ganda's love interest, Jimmy Santos who plays his Dad. Kean Cipriano will be in this film along with his band Callalily. Nikki Valdez did an amazing job... she looked very young and hip with the new hairstyle. Carlos Agassi still looks so young that afternoon. Dj Durano said some very sexy things, even admits to some shocking things as said on the video. Also in the cast are Vandolph Quizon, Dennis Padilla, Tony Cruz, Tutti Caringal, my favorite Ms. Malou De Guzman (I feel like Bubuli and she's my Nanay) , Ricky Rivero, Rubi Rubi, Abby Bautista and one and only Eddie Garcia. With the cast alone, how can you not watch this movie. Tell me, please!

Here are some photos from the press conference. Enjoy!

Starring on this Film is the SEVERE Vice Ganda!

Cool, Calm and Collected... Eddie Garcia and Kean Cipriano strutting the Red Carpet

The coolest veteran actor I know, Eddie Garcia

Kean Cipriano, still rocking on this film!

Seen him on several of Director Wen's movies, he must be the lucky charm. DJ Durano.

It was my first time to see her, I was giddy! Inay Malou De Guzman

Single and available Nikki Valdez, very fresh looking on her new do.

Kean goofing off with Nikki on this bit.

Muscle man, bursting out of his shirt, hunky Carlos Agassi

Questions from the press ensued:

Vice Ganda!

Blockbuster Director Wen De Ramas

So wag na tayong pa PUCHU PUCHU Let's watch Praybeyt Benjamin on theaters nationwide! That's October 27 remember the date! ;)

Independent body to handle Alabang Boys

Thursday, January 22, 2009

Rich kids in hot water for this drug case!

Congress would want an independent committee to handle the infamous Alabang Boys drug scandal. This is to prevent the terms brought about by politicians also dipping their hands into this huge fiasco. Several reports of bribery was included in the statement by Major Ferdinand Marcelino, team leader of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) but he refused to identify them publicly.

There should be a credible committee that would handle this case so the truth would come out and have the said prosecutor from the Department of Justice that sold the Alabang Boy's case put to justice too.
It's sad to say but it was also a compatriot from the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) that offered him this bribe so he can't tell anyone as honor dictates.
No names as of now still have surfaced but there are several people that President Arroyo already put on leave like Undersecretary Ricardo Blancaflor and Chief State Prosecutor Jovencito Zuno.

Biazon on the other hand said that there should be inventory of (drug) cases and there should be an inventory of evidence. It has also been an issue that seized drugs finds its way back to the circulation of drug tradewhich is preposterous.

If the Shoe Fits

Thursday, January 01, 2009

The US Military operations continue in the Middle East specifically on Iraq and Afghanistan. We all know that nobody's a winner when it comes to war. People get hurt, more women and children are displaced. It’s quite understood that they would not have time to make a living, nor learn what they need to in school. It’s a pity that we need to send troops in that region. Men and Women sworn in to protect their motherland, now have responsibilities to keep peace in the world. This is a huge task, you can never complain because this is the US taking the lead in the global war against terrorism. We just need to do our part to help our troops so they'd safely return home.

They are real heroes at work!

Some roads and corners in war stricken Iraq are not surely safe. There are times when the US Soldier has to go to patrol every once in a while to keep peace intact communities throughout Baghdad and the Southern City of Basra. It took them a month or so to have these taken over and one of the reasons why they keep a low fatality rate is because they prepare before they go out for operations. They need backpacks, head gears, shirts, the ever dependable bullet proof vests and the perfect shoes. Now why the perfect shoes you ask? And why do I put so much emphasis on this? That's easy! With the tough landscape and environment in the desert, our men and women shouldn't suffer the same fate as camels and other creatures in that place. That is just not right; because for the role they play in saving our lives and keeping the world a better place to live in, you know they deserve only the best. This is where Wellco Boots come into the picture. They know how to play this game because they have a wide selection of boots to choose from. For the varying terrain and weather in that side of the globe, you need ones for tactical work, for the hot weather, for desert combat, those that are lightweight, waterproofed ones and the ones that can give you the grip (rippled soles) which you need to win the fight.

They even have shirts and caps that come along with the equipments so everything would fit perfectly. These are products approved by the US Military and other government agencies. Now anyone in the world would be able to have the opportunity to have one of their own. Are you the type who gets left behind? Can you be like the heroes this country is proud of? You can call their customer service personnel available to answer you questions over the phone Monday - Friday 8:30 - 5:00 CST but only if the shoe fits!

Updates on the search for my Tita Milet and Ms. Espie (kidnapped by Abu Sayyaf)

Thursday, September 18, 2008

Tita Milet and Espie are still in captivity by suspected Abu Sayyaf

I read a while ago that they were held reportedly by a group of teenagers as young as around 12 years old. They (victims) estimated their ages as between 12 and 19. Teenagers bearing arms last Monday in Tipo-Tipo stopped the two-vehicle convoy while making their way to Isabela City in Basilan. Its remarkable... even MILF men also are now being ordered to join search for the abducted aid workers.

Based on Dekit’s and Estandarte’s accounts (the two who escaped the men while they were on foot), Ms. Espie Hupida had difficulty moving quickly because she has a problem with her leg ... My Tita Milet did not want to leave Ms Espie behind. This is very true, we (her family) know her to be like this. Authorities say that kidnappers were led by Nurhassan Jamiri and Pujuri Indama of the Abu Sayyaf.

I implore to you fellow bloggers, relatives and friends... please continue to pray... even the kidnappers... My Tita and Ms. Espie are very good people, they went to your place only to help those affected by the war and give livelihood programs from donors to those who need it. Taking them away like that is a sin...weather it be against Allah, God or humanity. We are all Filipinos... we are all human... make the right choice and please release them unharmed. You even did this in the start of Ramadan... really not a good thing to do.

iLASIK and LASIK: In the Military and NASA

Saturday, September 06, 2008

It's really nice looking at a child's eyes and how their innocent little face light up each time we hear them laugh and cry. Eye care is now and forever will be first in our list. To see colors, people and places. We all should really enjoy life. I had a friend who did not enjoy most of her high school and college life because she could not see well. She had thick glasses all the time. When LASIK technology became available in the Philippines (American Eye Correction Center, Manila) she underwent the procedure and not just became a productive citizen of this country. She’s a very happy person now.

US Government Agencies and the US Military take this to heart. Having their men take eye treatments is prioritized. With the missions and projects they have to go to, this is necessary. The US Military have snipers and gunmen treated with LASIK Surgery to improve their eyesight and have them back to 20/20 vision. This is of up most importance. In the line of duty; they need to see very clearly. How and why would they shoot enemies of the state if this wasn't done right? It makes sense.

NASA uses internal experiments to improve this technology like an Eye Tracking Device (ETD) which will determine the influence of prolonged microgravity and the accompanying vestibular (inner ear) adaptation on the orientation of Listing's Plane (a coordinate framework, as deep as that sounds its just used to define the movement of the eyes in the head. Studies like these and other experiments are being funded by the US Government for the benefit of the general public. Eye treatment advancements are now available for all like this all-laser form of LASIK which exceeds measurements of standards and effectiveness. The procedure is very safe as improvements were done with the help of these agencies and the Department of Defense. LASIK technology known as iLASIK™ procedures use two lasers instead of one. This is a big improvement than in earlier versions of the procedure.

Military experiments show 95% achieved 20/20 uncorrected vision or better with this new LASIK treatment. Americans (about 12 million of them) now enjoy the benefits of the program says Dr. Schallorn which heads proponents of this project. LASIK information is now available for everyone. Now isn't that a sight for sore eyes?!
