CABRINI Hits Philippine Cinemas Today June 19th

Wednesday, June 19, 2024

If you are religious, faithful, care about other people, or know an OFW, you definitely should watch this movie called CABRINI. This stars Cristiana Dell'Anna, John Lithgow, David Morse and an ensemble cast of Italian-Americans, because this is mainly, a story about them.

Cristiana plays the role of Francesca Cabrini, a woman who after landing in New York's shores, saw the shocking plight of immigrants, their children, and the condition they live in. The story is TRAGIC right from the moment she stepped foot in Five Points, a place where she saw the orphaned children, the abused women, the people who live through unbelievable means. She was frantic, and wanted to do something about it.

Cabrini was also with other nuns, whom all worked from sun up to sun down preparing what's supposed to be an orphanage so they could house the kids, take them away from the streets and burrows, the sewers of the same city. They began feeding them, cleaning them up. They did sew a lot of clothes, they looked quite nice in dresses and suits which the nuns personally had woven, and sewn together. Though this was the time they began noticing, they needed funds in order to serve a lot of children (bambinis).

But just like the Philippines, the politicians had a different view. They felt there should be no funds, and they should never be seen as part of the city. It was disheartening to see how when Chrisitana was making headway together with the nuns and community, they began sabotaging, do unnecessary things to stop them from flourishing on American soil. It felt like when they already had a roof on their head, they begin throwing a ton of bricks on top, or burn them to the ground because they didn't like what they were seeing.

She started to device a way to put the spotlight on those who need help specifically the immigrants, Italians, and children. After getting displaced, lack of funds, she began believing she could do more for the voiceless, those who are quarantined and in the slums, the ones with dignity and still have the chance to live. She does ALL these while suffering from an incurable disease (back then). A woman who in spite of adversities, used art, a second language, her faith and love in order to make sure the women, children and people she serve gets adequate medical care, nourishment, and dignity they deserve.

Watch this trailer to get a grasp of the story

Her story based on real events is so inspiring. The dark treatment/color grading for this masterpiece by Director Alejandro Monteverde was apt for the mood they wanted to exude. Its excellent, and warrants you to definitely see and hear her story, on how this once sickly but feisty lady from Italy became the first American saint, and patron of immigrants.

It shows in the Philippines starting today, June 19 in theaters nationwide!

Century Tuna Outs Heartwarming Short "Dahilan"

Wednesday, January 05, 2022

U
gh... here goes Century Tuna doing a heart pinching video to showcase the love for Mom. Seeing it yesterday for the first time made me very emotional, because as a certified Mama's boy, you always want the best for your Mom who sacrificed her life just to make you who you are today.

This is the handy work of famed director Antoinette Jadaone entitled "Dahilan". Guy works out even during the pandemic, eats and cooks a healthy meal, prepares a sumptuous brunch then fetches his Mom, carry her up a flight of stairs and had a heartfelt date. He made Mom cry, with joy in her heart, appreciates the gesture of her son. Ms. Antonette says Century Tuna and her ideas jived to put in front that it's not just physical strength that is important these days, but also mental. This talks more about living a healthy lifestyle so you get to spend it with people you love.  They call this "Century Tuna LOVE STRONG". This is so apt for the times.

Jonjon San Agustin SVP of SM Marketing  says "This is our grand celebration for your Super Moms, to recognize the silent super heroes of your family. To thank them and make them feel loved, we will provide shoppers a chance to experience mall bazaars, makeover packages, events from May 1-14 to reaffirm our commitment to make the mall experience more fun, because our moms deserve the best."

"The most endearing celebration has always been an anticipated event by SM and the way we execute it is unique as we do it in every community, as special as each and every Mom for Luzon Visayas and Mindanao. The recent video we released was appropriate for Mothers Day, we know there's a certain Sunday tradition that after every mass we go out and have fun at SM and that builds relationships. We want to communicate that because that tradition is priceless."

Suzy Entrata was also there, she quirps "It's true, most of my siblings are older and we know how we should start spending time with them because it won't be forever that they'll never have an excuse. Once they start going to school, to college, we all should show how much we love our parents as much as we can.

Trending SM Etiquette Ambassador Elevator Girl Cheridel Alejandrino surprised us and talked about challenges being a Mom and said "I am so busy working at SM Cinemas and even if I don't get to spend time with my family that much (because I am working), just seeing people spend time with their families was so good for me. I now spend for my Mom because I have GC's from SM and it makes the whole family happy."

SM will also have a Mom and Kid Fashion Show where Filipino superbrand Jollibee will give away Jolly Spaghetti to 200 shoppers for FREE while they are watching plus makeover promos and rewards mall wide so Moms and their families could spend time and make memories so make sure to check out the SM Supermalls Facebook Page, Twitter and Instagram Account for news and contests about it. Sweet Talk with Inah De Belen

Thursday, September 15, 2016

You are looking at Inah De Belen. She's the daughter of actor John Estrada and Ms. Janice De Belen. She has been in the industry for quite some time now, particularly in TV5. She's been paired with young hearthrob Akihiro Blanco and did a couple of programs including hit show Wattpad Presents among many others. She's jumped ship and went to the caring arms of GMA Network. She's been blessed to have the genes of her parents but have worked hard enough to be noticed as a formidable actress in her age group. She's starring in a new soap in the Kapuso Network called OH MY MAMA! based on the movie made raves years ago by Ms. Maricel Soriano and catapulted her love team with William Martinez in 1981.

Here's our interview with Inah De Belen.

We also did an activity with her and the people at bake shop. We went home with smiles on our faces because for most of us, it was our first time to make cakes. She's into baking too so if you're going to impress Inah, you must know how to cook. I wonder if her 2 leading men in the soap knows how to do just that!

This is going to be a new OH MY MAMA, like a story based on that but not entirely. GMA Network and GMA Artist Center seems to have a lot planned for her and if she's up to the challenge, I'm sure she's going to make it.

Jennifer Hudson's Nephew

Tuesday, October 28, 2008

The support has been outpouring for finding Jason Hudson

Oh my... I thought this only happens in movies. This is really sad news for Jennifer Hudson. I read off a local newspaper that the SUV police were searching for was found and an unidentified body of a young boy was in the rear the seats. Police are still in the process of an autopsy. This would be a real tragedy.

I am one of millions of people who continue to pray for the safety of this kid. Police are in custody also of William Balfour, the estranged husband of Julia Hudson (not the father) but is not charged with anything yet. Jennifer already lost a 29yo brother and also her mom on a possible double homicide case... then they continued to look for this boy. She even pitched in a 100 grand for information to the whereabouts of this child. This would be a very sad ending. Let's still pray.

Who is Eugene Domingo?

Wednesday, October 22, 2008

I watch your movies Eugene Domingo! ^_^

I am a huge fan of Eugene Domingo and I ain't ashamed to say that out loud in my site ^_^. Her crazy antics and punchlines are the best a comedic actress would ever spurt out. Her timing and unprecedented candidness on and off movies are worthy for me and my friends to take notice. It was when we said, hey this girl's funny... we'll follow her movies! and it didn't end there.

My friends and I religiously watched her movies even if we obviously didn't like her co stars. We enjoy and adore her. Although I know, some pinoys would probably ask "Who is Eugene Domingo?".

I'm sure you watched her a couple of times in TV. If you are a theater addict like I was in college you probably watched one of her shows as well. She is a good actress from UP and I think there are a couple of merits to her name as well, but just this afternoon I read off a showbiz website that a couple of movies were pulled off from her... I tried to check out why... it turns out a clash between Mother Lily Monteverde and Eugene's manager Ricky Gallardo was the culprit. This in turn got 4 of her movies pulled out from her. The manager however belies this statement from Mother Lily saying "Its different if you got a movie pulled out, than not accepting the offer at all because we did not accept it to tell you frankly". I believe the manager in this case because Mother Lily had agreed upon prices for these films, but at the last minute she wanted a lower price which in turn stressed out the manager and Eugene. The only thing that the manager wanted was "WORD OF HONOR" because everything was set already. This is one big deal for anyone who knows the word "Professionalism".

Mother Lily says "Bhaka malowogi Negoshoh" lolz!

I am starting to hate Mother Lily but what can we do really. It's a good thing that a couple of films and her launching movie is still in play, otherwise I would really despise producers like that who don't honor their words just to earn a buck.
