They also made sure they know their worth, and how they envy their resilience in raising their respective families and continue to help and enjoy their community. They also shared some of their favorite Hairfix products, of some, they have been using even before they were endorsing the product. Here's the event on video, please be kind to the photographers who were going in front (blocking your view) while we were recording this bit. :)

I was really touched when they showed 4 lucky Moms who they spoiled shopping and done with a makeover using the latest products from Hairfix. I personally like the hair colors because of the variety and how affordable it is. Let me take this bit to thank the men and women behind Life Strong who invited us to witness that. Rabiya, Tracy and Francine went up on stage and crowned them right after the reveal. That was really a touching moment.

Now it's your turn to get your crown, and make that story! Congratulations Hairfix!

Love Her with PayMaya This Mother's Day

Sunday, May 10, 2020

Small things matter.

Mother's day celebrations are still in full swing but I'm sure with the current lockdowns in Metro Manila you're still thinking of ways to celebrate it with the most precious woman in your life, your Mom.

PayMaya has proven useful especially when we are shying away from using cash in establishments - now that we don't want to spread the virus, I used it to pay for small things that would make my own Mama happy. PayMaya is a partner of Mercury Drug so for her maintenance medicine and small groceries, you can use it in their counters without whipping out cards and stuff. The app has a QR code option that's being accepted in their branches. You can get cashback too.

You can also use PayMaya in restaurants. I ordered lunch and paid for it in advanced so Mom can get rest from cooking the whole day. You too can do small things to make Mother's Day memorable.

Kim Rodriguez Celebrates Birthday at Grace to be Born in Pasig City

Friday, September 04, 2015

We were with Kim Rodriguez a few days ago to celebrate her birthday in Pasig City. I haven't been here before but the place we went to called Grace to be Born is a shelter fully dedicated to the temporary care of expecting mothers no matter what age or demographic they may be.

Ladies from the shelter personally made Kim Rodriguez's birthday posters. That part was very touching!

According to Ms. Esther the shelter's Social Worker "We do temporary care, facilitation of adoption and foster care. We're being supported by Light of Jesus Community which is also being ran by Brother Bo Sanchez. It's one of the ministries of Brother Bo Sanchez and at the same time is the Pro Life Ministry under the Rosary for Life Ministry. For now we have 13 mothers in the shelter, 9 are pregnant and 4 have already given birth. The other babies here, their parents have opted to place them for adoption but we're not a child caring or placement facility primarily, we just facilitate. Hopefully we'll be in that state  as soon as we open up another Grace to be Born facility in Pampanga soon. So we'll have 2 facilities, Pasig and Pampanga. There are a lot of maternity homes but our admission of pregnant women is only for those in the first trimester. It's because we provide counseling, we also give them three options to take care of the baby, temporary care and adoption. We're the ones to help them with that. After Grace to be Born, they have one month to recuperate and stay after they give birth. Everything is provided, everything is free from Vitamins, from checkup, so that's why babies are healthy when they're born. People who want to help us are usually referred by NGO's, government agencies, some walk in, and we screen all of them too. Grace to be Born has been here for 6 years already and we're blessed to be still operating til now, we get help with people like you, like Kim Rodriguez and GMA, and we don't get permanent help but get by with donations. Light of Jesus family helps us too in so many ways." You can also get in touch with them on their Facebook page here if you want to help.

It was also nice to see some of Kim Rodriguez's sponsors helping the cause. Big shoutout to Artista Salon who gave livelihood starter kits to expectant moms. They taught and had some of them cut hair and provide services, a thing that they could do to earn a living after their stay here in Grace to be Born. They also received goodies from Unisilver Time and Aquabest. You could see the faces of the women in the shelter light up when they played games and small contests, it kept them entertained while we were there. You could also see Kim's reaction on how she got to interact with the women and how her contribution will go a long way to the care of them, they absolutely need your help too. I remember what Ms. Esther told us during our visit, some people just appear on their door with 2 sacks of rice, they need that to feed everyone in the shelter and when they need it, people just go there and help.

Now here's a short interview we did during that event:

Happy happy birthday Kim! Stay blessed!

The New Partnership Of Alaska Milk and FrieslandCampina

Friday, April 11, 2014

We've been sharing the journey of growing up in the Philippines with Alaska. All your soups, main dishes or even your desserts have Alaska in them all these years. It's different, creamy and you know it's made with quality and freshness in mind. A few days ago, a partnership between Alaska and Royal FrieslandCampina has been formed to bring dairy expertise to Filipinos. FrieslandCampina is actually a Dutch dairy cooperative composed of thousands of farmers in the Netherlands. It's roots go back to 1879 and they've been gearing to expand their business for a long time and this move to acquire Alaska in the Philippines was but apt. They have high regards to what Alaska's role play in Filipinos lives. Now, they are bringing even more great products backed with the experience of 130 years!

Tifany Santuyo, a nutrition consultant for Alaska corporation told us a picture of a child's health in the Philippines. Using data from previous years, it only gave us news that wasn't pretty. The incapacity to get the right amount of vitamins and essential nutrients make a huge percent of Filipinos prone to growth stunting and wasting. This also happens in the first 1,000 days of their life, so making sure you get the right amount of nutrition is essential. She also adds how important the Mom's health is and its factors with the nutrition of newborns.

Dr. Anne Schaafsma explained to us the importance of protein and how nutrients can be absorbed by the body. He also took time talking about protein denaturation and how it happens. There are a lot of factors why there are problems in digestion with children and one of the major factors why it happens is glycation. It's when proteins combine with carbohydrates happens, resolving this would just take mild processing which makes it digested better and properly.

FrieslandCampina has been always in the forefront of quality; and together with their owners, they continue to produce milk and it's byproducts without shortcuts. They believe in the Grass to Glass process and with their emphasis on food safety, quality in farming, milking, collecting, processing, packaging and distribution, you are sure that what you are getting on your table is the best there is in the world. 130 years plus Alaska's 40 years in the Philippine market, just spells success in holding the title as the lead milk brand in the country bringing only the best for Filipino families just as they always have in the past years.

Now you know you're getting the best when Alaska is on your table. See? :)

A Mother's Story

Monday, December 19, 2011

I would say this out loud. I love my Mom. If there would be anything in this world that she wants, I'll really try and get it for her. That's how important she is for me. I'm sure she has made lots of sacrifices for me in the past and I will never forget about it. You probably feel the same with your own Moms, that's where we'll start this story.

Millions of OFW's leave the country in hopes of a better life. If you have mouths to feed and your earnings don't quite match what you spend living in the Philippines; wouldn't that be your recourse as well?!

A movie by famed director John D. Lazatin "A Mothers Story" talks about an undocumented OFW's struggle to earn a living while keeping her family together. This is just one of many real stories that happen in our country and with POKWANG on the title role; this will surely be a great movie to see come January 8, 2012. Other countries have already seen this particular film and they have given great feedback. I wouldn't be surprised if this was nominated for a golden globe or the oscars.

The film also stars Xyriel Manabat and Rayver Cruz, Beth Tamayo, Ms. Daria Ramirez, Nonie Buencamino, Ana Capri, Jaime Fabregas, Aaron Junatas, K Brosas and Atty. Michael J. Gurfinkel. This is heavy drama and you'll be surprised how Pokwang will take on this role. You wouldn't be able to stop yourself from crying because the trailer alone tells it all. Pokwang herself had gone through this same route before she became who she is now. Rayver also had an OFW mother so it wasn't so hard for them to relate to their characters. Just telling the story while on the press conference made a lot of people cry. You'll never forget Pokwang after this bit and you'll surely be seeing her in more serious roles. Don't worry she will still be doing comedy for your afternoon programs and movies as well. She's quite a remarkable actress and she'll be showing her wares come January 8, 2012. Make sure you line up on theaters nationwide! This is still showing on selected theaters abroad so for the TFC subscribers, you should take time and visit where available.

Watch A Mother's Story... a sure tearjerker... a must watch for those who know OFW's and their families. This will surely get you guys even closer.

Need I say more?! Capisce?!
