I own two iPhones, particularly the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S. I didn't get to wait on the release of the iPhone 6 back then because I was excited to use it on SMART, the country's biggest network. I didn't feel sorry for my self but I wish there was something that I can do to at least get one of them changed into an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus, I got my prayers answered by Get Gadget Shop a few days ago.

You see, they have an on going promo. I wanted one that's just very affordable but when this opportunity arrived, I was really tempted to trade it in. Yes you heard that right! Caballete Artist's Gallery in Quezon City

Friday, March 27, 2015

I've been a fan of Filipino painters since I could remember. The passion that is put to work in every piece has been evident every time I see them do it in water color, oil, charcoal or mixed media. We've even got history to prove it. In a small country as ours, we're so rich in this department and I have never been able to put my finger what sets us apart, or do we even have to do that.

My neighborhood is also as colorful. Networks are a few minutes walk, old artisan outlets are still abound, the new ones even carry a pack. I visited one of them a few days ago in Kamias Road in Quezon City. It's called Caballete Artists Gallery.

This event is sort of a re-launch. We were welcomed by a very well versed man named Ramon Araullo, this is his very own. He's a stock broker by trade but is a fine collector of art. Some of the pieces here are part of his collection. He explained to us how he treats what he has right now, some of which are priceless and wouldn't even think of selling off soon. For him, most of his paintings are actually an investment. He's bought some of it a long time ago and saw some of it appreciate over the years. He even says it made him survive the most difficult times of his life. He sold some of it during the Asian financial crisis. The place has got Duldulao's, Tony and Joel Mahilum, Angel Cacnio, the works of Ang Kiukok, Manansala and a lot of other national artists. The dream - is to actually have a place to showcase art by Filipino artists in a venue which you can say is - neutral ground. Caballete is the Spanish term for easel which artists use to put their canvass in. Like it, he would want it to be a cradle for Filipino art, for artists - of different generations.

One of my favorites during that launch is this very detailed ornate painting that looks like real crochet work in canvass. This is by Tess Duldulao, who did it using pastel, much like a colored version of charcoal pencils. Her husband did a lot of books too in Philippine art.

He attributes putting up the gallery on his passion to collect art pieces, his eye in spotting a good one, of which happened since the late 80's. He worked then in Makati, the art trade scene was booming in Greenhills' "Allegria", a gallery that houses art pieces that he got on a lay away basis. He took time to go there right after trading time because he loved them all so much. He also thought about what pieces he could have as investment. He got more, pretty much until he had no walls left to hang them. Some of them could later on sold as much as 10 times of its original price. He thought of retiring and do this on a regular basis. The location might feel off to some and prefer some place like a mall. People don't know though how much overhead cost it would have and pass it on to collectors later on. It'll be better to put the artists on the pedestal rather than the middle men. He doesn't believe there's justice in doing that and make the artist poor. They now are making art more accessible in some way because it'll be very easy to purchase pieces without getting overpriced.

Another thing is, they want to make it a place for people to grow interest in art by having workshops taught by the masters themselves later on too. Whatever medium, not a formal school, just to spend time here and drawing your own masterpieces by the best people who can do it. This is in the pipeline and probably be done during Fridays. They'll also invite musicians so people would get more inspired. Hopefully the community wouldn't be just known for spare parts and spa's later on. This is his hope.

This one was from Father and Son. The one above was done by Tony Mahilum (+) while his son did this one below. Joel almost had the same color palette, cleaner I think and you can see the workmanship in the details. I learned that the younger Mahilum only does Filipino good traits on his work, really impressive.

Ang Kiukok, he does really good black artsy pieces, almost on the gory side.
Loved the Manansala sketch on paper. This one probably would cost an arm, leg, a kidney and half a lung.

The gallery also houses some really good artwork from Filipinos based elsewhere, Australia, France, US, of which he finds really good ones too. There are real up and coming artists in the Philippines too that he is starting to invest on as well, if you're going to have something to save up on and thinking of art pieces to be your medium rather than buying stocks, it'll feel good because you can appreciate it rather than just looking at numbers.

Part of his goal is eventually also featuring shows in the future. If you want to learn about it and start your own collection, you can probably visit the place and start now. Be patient too and look it up, read, make your own judgement which you see would be a good thing to have in the future. Something that you might haven't seen, felt a connection with or heard before might be the next artistic genius. The time to get their work would be now, and perhaps you too would get to piece together your own puzzle. You need to build your own collection and see how it'll appreciate and go after a few years. Come visit them at 111-A Kamias Street Barangay Malaya 4 in Quezon City. They are just in front of a Shell Gasoline Station perpendicular to Kasingkasing across the street. Almost 5 blocks away from Edsa, Manila's main thoroughfare.

The place is open from Monday to Saturday from 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM. Call them 02 945-2573 or 0927 2600470. You may also get in touch with them through caballete.artgallery@gmail.com if you have inquiries with any of the pieces there. Oh by the way, they have a restaurant just up stairs and we'll talk about that in just a bit!

Discover Delicious: Pasta Supreme by Greenwich

Thursday, April 18, 2013

You know that time when you least expect it and a friend suddenly appears and gave you something you've been craving for the past few days? Mine just happened a few days ago.And yes it was so sweet!

Arriving in my doorstep wasn't something ordinary. It was something a VIP, an executive, a key player, a king, a magnate, a notable personage, a potentate, a prince, a princess, a queen, a top brass personality, a tycoon would deserve but it was just me at home and all the Pasta Supreme goodness that comes with this box. When I opened it... it was like the second coming of Christ!

It was layers upon layers of lasagna noodles, possibly ricotta, Mozzarella, Parmesan, ground beef, tomato sauce, spices and herbs. Who in the right mind would say NO to that? We're not that crazy but we were so obsessed how Greenwich turned our ordinary lunch into something the whole family noted as DELICIOUS. It's even got that same vibe happening on the box!

And I did discover delicious!

Now if that doesn't convince you that their Pasta Supreme line - specifically Lasagna Supreme is good, I took the liberty of biting what's on this plate for you. It was cheesy in all the right places. The sauce was sweet and savory. It was perfect for the Filipino palate and when it's hot oh don't even get me started. It was so good I forgot my own name a couple of times I had to ask my folks who I am afterwards.

Now it's your chance to take my advice and call Greenwich's hotline  5-55-55 and order your favorite Pizza, Pasta, Meals and Beverages from the Philippines' most favorite pizza chain.

Even Anne Curtis, Solenn Heussaff and Kelly Misa agree it's the best. So why should you say otherwise?

Discover Delicious Friendships with Greenwich Lasagna Supreme!

Monday, April 01, 2013

I was in Boracay the whole week and was steady. I was chilling, relaxing and enjoying fruit shakes of all kinds and thinking about the days I've been depriving my self of all the good things I should have eaten the past few days. Then my Sister called me and told me one of the nicest things that appeared in my doorstep.

It was a picnic basket! Complete with a bouquet of flowers named to me. I immediately asked who sent it and out came this gorgeous surprise. It was a memento, a thing to remember and discover delicious friendship because yes... it is from the good people from GREENWICH!

I immediately asked my sister to see what was inside because I was going to stay a whole week in Boracy. It made me miss Manila so badly and when she muttered up and said the word LASAGNA. Like clockwork I became so sad to see why am I in Boracay when all I wanted was in this single picnic basket in Manila. (-_-)" sigh!

What made it even worse to think about at that time was because it wasn't just plain lasagna. It was more than that, a thing of humongous proportions and the aptly call it LASAGNA SUPREME! I almost cried at the sight of it.

I cringed every time my sister had to tell me another box is gone. It was being eaten by folks at home. The question was.. will I ever get to taste it too? :(

But no.. I wasn't able to see any piece of it.. it was gone.. all gone.. (-_-)" Hayyy...

Good thing the Greenwich Pasta endorsers Solenn, Anne and Kelly gave me news that there's best tasting pasta that's got thicker noodles, chunkier meat sauce, three types of cheese and white sauce that's served with Garlic Stix and available at PhP 79.00 for the snack size and PhP 99.00 for the full size! Now I can just go to any Greenwich store and order one for my self even if I didn't get to taste the one they sent me at home ^______________^ <<< see my wide smile now?

Thank you so much to the good people at Greenwich, I'll be having my Lasagna Supreme for dinner and get a couple of my favorite Glazed Chicken too! =)

So make sure you head on their stores for the best Pizza, Pasta and Chicken that only Greenwich can bring to your homes! :D

AirAsia.Com's New Number 742ASIA!

Monday, February 25, 2013

Hear ye! Hear ye!

Ladies and gentlemen, children of all ages!

It's time you fly with the youngest fleet in the Philippines... and that's Air Asia.

They are even making it easy for you because starting February 25, AirAsia’s going to have a new customer hotline number. It will be as easy as dialing 742ASIA or 742-27-42.

1

It doesn't end there! Since they want all their services to be more convenient to soon to be passengers of AirAsia, they have commissioned partner 7-Eleven stores (starting February 28) so you can pay online promos using cash instead of your credit cards. Freddie Herrera, Commercial Head of Air Asia Inc. said “Filipinos will now embrace this new concept of paying cash for airline tickets via our payment partners option because of its simplicity and convenience”. Imagine, if everyone reserves a ticket, just line up on your favorite 7-11 branch and pay over the counter. Isn't that neat that you can book flights to Taipei, Singapore, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur? Even domestic flights to Davao (in the South) and Kalibo (for Boracay).

So what are you waiting for? Check out deals on http://www.airasia.com/ph/en/home.page or call 742ASIA or 7422742 and pay on any of their authorized payment partner establishments near you!

Wendy's Got Something BIG: The BBQnator!

Monday, December 10, 2012

College life wouldn't be complete if you didn't have your friends over at Wendy's. That's where we usually stay for meetings and gatherings but when I went there a few days ago it was something to celebrate about. It was for something big, tasty and juicy. It was perfect for the Filipino palate because this particular one was researched and designed in the Philippines. I'll tell you about that later, let's start by showing you things to crave for first!

Taco Salad - Laid on a bed of fresh chopped lettuce leaves are these golden nacho pieces smothered with tasty chili that's got beans, onions, beef and chili peppers. Great protein servings in one bowl that's affordable and quite a crowd favorite.

Onion Rings - A relatively new item on their menu, these real deal onions covered in thick crunchy batter was just launched November 30th. Using Yellow Spanish Onions as base, you can't compare these with the other Onion Rings out in fast food shops that are completely artificial. It's what sets them apart from other brands because they make this and the other products FRESH daily.

Natural Cut Fries with Sea Salt -  Think about French fries gone natural then sprinkled with a little sea salt after frying and you've got a staple partner for burgers and drinks. The crunchy exterior with natural skins on would still make you love the same old fries you enjoy from way back then. Now it's healthier and better than ever. I don't want to weird you out but I always dip this in my Frostee, one item that I do not forget to order when I'm in Wendy's!

Iced Tea - You can go full Iced Tea or try the light one but as with most meals I've ordered from Wendy's this is a must! Because if we don't drink anything after what we're going to eat after this, we'll do the gag reflex thing haha!

And for the fiesta de resistance, ladies and gentlemen this is THE BBQNATOR!

It's got 2 thick and juicy quarter pound beef patties, 6 strips of tasty smoked bacon, 2 slices of American cheese, sweet and smoky hickory barbeque sauce that's topped with crunchy real yellow Spanish onion rings. How in the world can you resist that?!

This humongous serving only costs P 315.00 for the combo and P255.00 if you just want to have it ordered ala carte! For those who are on a diet, take the next level and just order Son of BBQnator for P 156.00 or P198.00 on a Combo meal.

Wait... is someone reading this? Hellowww??

Okay... they left already... they want the WENDY'S BBQNATOR NOW!

It's the best time for Wendy's!

Greenwich Better Than Any Other Christmas Get Together

Friday, December 07, 2012

It's the most wonderful time of the year! It's also time to celebrate with good friends at Greenwich in one Better Than Any Other Christmas Party that they have put up for press people a couple of days ago at posh Makati Shangrila, Makati City. This is also my first time celebrating with them so I didn't know what to expect but I got my fill of pizza which is something that has Filipinos clamoring for more for years now.

What's even better is this awesome new 15 inch Party Size Pizza that Greenwich just released! Now you can enjoy more pizza with the great flavors and ingredients you still adore. They can even have it sliced in squares for you! :)

The Pizza was absolutely AWESOME then they made it even better by having a huge party for us!

DJ Mia and DJ Suzy of Magic 89.9 hosted the event. I've met these people a couple of times now but it was cool even if they didn't remember me haha. Anyway there were more surprises in store for us because would you believe, the Greenwich barkada was there too!!!!

They even sang a couple of Christmas songs for us and no they didn't let off or hold back. We were having fun!

Then Anne Curtis and the beautiful Kelly Misa joined in too. Yeap, just look at them singing their hearts out on another Christmas song. It definitely did put us in the mood for more!

Then the gorgeous Solenn Heusaff also came in to join in the short press conference. They told stories about how they spend Christmas with their families. They even mentioned the things they want to have for themselves! Anne wanted something wth Christian Grey, Kelly Misa wanted a Dining Table and everybody had their hilarious answers too!

To play fair Solenn actually sang one Christmas song on her own and mind you she really sounds good even live! No effort!

They have the media some games to play and of course some great prizes to boot! We really had fun during this event!

Plus the good looking boy from Cebu had his birthday celebration there too! So happy so many things are happening for him!

With great food, pizza, pasta and AWESOME friends from Greenwich, we celebrated one heck of a better than any other Christmas get together. Thank you so much for making me part of your celebrations Greenwich! From my site, thank you so much for everything! You know how much I love you guys! :)
